Alright people, here's how Laser Weaponry works in this Verse, Mechanics stolen straight from the SW wiki: Lasers are generated by stimulating a "gain medium"; this substance was charged with electricity, radiation or even by chemical reaction so as to release energy in the form of photons. The gain medium can come in the form of a solid (often a crystal), liquid or gas. The "gain medium," when charged, sees the rapid excitement of its constituent atoms. These atoms would experience increases in electron energy levels. Said electrons, seeking equilibrium, then released photons, or packets of electromagnetic radiation, so as to self-stabilize. The produced radiation, reflected and amplified by the Optical Cavity, could then be released as a high-powered and potentially destructive beam of coherent radiation. The output coupler was responsible for the release of the beam from the optical cavity. ^This above description is stolen straight from Wookiepedia... because I can't think of a better way to explain it myself. So... basically here's how Laser Rifles work: The Trigger is depressed by the operator, sending a signal to the Component within the rifle responsible for electricity generation. This Component, which utilizes a powerful Magnetic Rotation system to generate power, then activates immediately after. The Electricity created by it is then channeled into the "Gain Medium" of the Rifle, which in Standard issue ones (Which is what everyone who is a ranger will have) are a Special type of Crystal mined from beneath Esperanza. The Gain Medium, having been stimulated by the Electricity, generates the Radiation (Photons in this case) that will be discharged for the shot. These Photons then project into the Optical Cavity. Inside the Optical Cavity, the photons are reflected and amplified to the point of destructive power. Once Amplified, this Beam of Coherent and destructive Radiation is released in the form of a "Laser" from the Output Coupler at the end of the Rifle's barrel. There are two modes on ERC Standard Issue Laser Rifles; Burst and Sweep. Burst mode, as it's name implies, fires a Single Laser bolt which burns through the target on contact, and can potentially explode if it collides with highly flammable material or substances. It Consumes little power and as such does not cause fast Overheating of the Power Unit in the Rifle. Sweep mode, unlike Burst mode, fires one, continuous Laser Beam which as the name implies, can then be used to sweep targets and burn through them (Think of it as a very long range Laser Cutter basically). Sweep mode causes significantly more destruction to targets than Burst mode does for obvious reasons, but unlike Burst mode, it also takes up copious amounts of electricity in order to sustain it, and as such can easily cause the Power Unit of the Rifle to overheat after several seconds of using this mode. How one cycles between Burst and Sweep on a Standard issue rifle is by flicking the switch just above the Trigger Guard between either "B" for Burst and "S" for Sweep. Switching this switch exchanges which lenses are used in the Output Coupler, which ultimately determines which form the beam generated will take. Laser Rifles are single shot only while on Burst mode; they are not currently capable of full or even semi auto-automatic fire (though the government is working to try to change that...). They almost never overheat while in Burst Mode, but are guaranteed to on Sweep mode. when a LR's power unit overheats, it will require at least 5 minutes to cool, and is rendered completely unusable the entire cool down period. The reason they do not overheat during Burst mode is because the Power Unit generates the electricity and then shuts back down a moment afterwards; while in Sweep mode, the Power Unit must be keep active the entire time the beam is maintained. Laser Rifles are far more accurate and have a far longer range than Guns do, as they are not affected by variables in the environment such as wind direction and speed and humidity. There shots travel in straight lines, and do not at all curve as bullet trajectories do. The only thing determining whether a shot hit's it's intended mark or not depends on how well the shooter can aim and whether or not the shot is reflected by something. (Yes, bullets actually curve, folks. Looks can be pretty deceiving, right?) The only reason Guns are even still around is because of the LRs lack of Semi and Full Auto Fire capabilities. The processes taking place within a LR take less than half a second at the very most. additionally, Lasers fired from LRs require a special type of mirror/ reflective surface in order to be deflected. So there it is, Murdoc and everyone else. That's how the mechanics for Ranged Laser Weaponry works. In terms of Aesthetics and outward construction, LRs have the same basic bodies as regular rifles: a butt, a trigger and trigger guard, a mid section above the trigger and guard where Ammunition would be held/ loaded (in this case it's where the electric charge is generated) and a barrel that releases the fired shot upon the Trigger being depressed. And no, no one will ever be allowed to have any type of modification on a Laser Rifle that would eliminate the Cool Down time from Sweeping, because that would simply make it far too overpowered at that point. Moving on to Guns: Guns... well, they pretty much operate on the same principles as they do in the modern era (Of our world). Not really much to explain about em other than that. Obviously some are going to be better than others, like how it is now. The only real thing to note is that they look much cooler and have sleeker/ lighter models with higher Mag Capacities. Moving on to Plasma Weaponry: Oh hellllll no. You make Plasma-based Small Arms, and you die for High Treason; it's against the Esperanza constitution to manufacture or operate them for anything that's not a certified star ship. and so is distributing knowledge of how they operate to any unauthorized persons. (Yes, they take it so seriously that the Defeault charge will be High Treason because They'll assume you have an agenda to assault the Government (Tactical Terror Typology) or commit acts of random terror with it. (Random Terror Typology) And Terrorism as a whole is filed under the High Treason Charge in Esperanza) I'm not even going to go into Plasma Weapons at the moment. None for you! leave my sight! EDIT: well, the only two people even left in the PB right now are Flux's and Snap's character; with Flux's having been pretty much brushed off in his socialization and Snap having yet to post... oh wait... I forgot about Lance... Must be because he's technically not an ER...in fact, even I don't know what the hell he is.

Oh. Well in that case, yeah, I agree with you about it. That could become an issue and Folks should only try to do it sparingly. My question is the same as Dobby's

Without another word, Galen opened the door and exited the Vehicle, sending out a certain tool of his the moment his boots hit the ground. "Make yourself a Cop real quick," he said to the Zoroark that emerged from the capsule he had released. It looked up at him quizzically for a moment, then procedded to Follow orders, turning into a male Police officer dressed in an Identical Uniform to Galen's. "This good enough?" it asked in human form, the male voice a little gruff... could use a little work vocally, Galen had to admit, but it should still work. "Perfect," He nodded as he shut the door to the car. "Now... let's go get into position by the fence. Keep us cloaked from sight; I wanna catch them just as they're high tailing it out of here." with that he walked off towards the hole one of the cadets had made in the perimeter, assuming this would surely be where they'd all try to make their exit. He choose a waiting spot near the tree line, Crouching down beneath a small oak as his tool joined him. A moment later the air shimmered in front of them for a few seconds. "Cloak's up." His Zoroark turned-fake-cop said silently. Alright... the voice would definitely need a bit of work later. Good thing Galen would be doing all the talking anyway. "Good," he said, watching as the cadets began to commence their robbery. "Now get down low and keep your mouth shut." If anyone looked at the area where the Oak was, they wouldn't see anything out of the ordinary there. The 2 cops crouching underneath it would be completely invisible to the naked eye... The tree would look like it could be any other anywhere else in any other wooded area in the world. All thanks to Zoroark's Illusion... -
Well it's not like something I'm going to be doing very often anyway. I already know how to portray behavior in animals and mons and such, in fact, up until now I've honestly made a point of trying to portray behavior rather than giving legitimate thoughts to them. Eh, yes, techinically human thoughts for them is kinda lazy, but then again, considering the amount of effort I put in in general when RPing, I honestly think I've earned a few freebies every now and again. So every once in a while I might just say screw it and just go ahead and do it. That and the fact that it has been shown that Pokemon can potentially be as smart, if not smarter, than people. And to add on to that, Erce's thoughts can be considered a form of Perspection shift. The majority of my post are written from Mareek's perspective, his own thoughts and such, how he perceives what's going on around him. In that perspective, his partner's minds aren't portrayed, their behaviour is. With Erce's, it was pretty much vica versa; the partners minds were actively explained while The human's behaviors were only portrayed... so please, don't go preaching to me about lazy writting. Like I said, I'm not going to go doing things like this very often. and in the future it probably won't even be done through giving direct thoughts ,but instead by simply focusing more on the Pokemon. I was just posting justification for how it could be possible for Pokemon to Pokemon Communication in that form at all in case anyone was going to present arguments of faulty logic
-
Hmmm... I'm beginning to think of assembling Mareek's team from mons that can be used in law enforcement and field utility instead of just pure strategy... though I don't know how plausible that might be given that's kinda sparce...
-
I'll consider using the music from Firefall, but for the most part, I'm just gonna base the weapons and equipment and such from the physics from the Star Wars verse. SW is something I already know well, so I won't have to waste time trying to dive into something completely new to me, which as a result will give me more time to spend doing actual work on this instead of having to go out and spend that time doing copious research on the way things work in some other 'verse that I have no clue about to begin with. EDIT: and speaking of gear, I'll get on to that later today with descriptions of what the Exo-Suits are like and so on and so forth. And I see no one cares about socializing right now... well. you might wanna get to know each other soon; trusting complete strangers to have your back tends to get you killed in the field.

There... finally got back from behind. And I justify Erce being able of conscious thought and communicating with other mons by the fact that the anime is littered left and right with examples of it being entirely possible (just Look at the rocket's meowth, though it somehow learned English, which I still don't understand how that's even possible. And then even Ash's pikachu; A few times, it has had to negotiate with wild mons for Ash and the gang's behalf, and then there's tons of other examples that have popped up over the years.)

Pokémon Academy: Ch 2a: Dragons [IC]

Seeing that he had pretty much been shadowed out of things, Mareek sidled over to Lana as the others continued their conversation. Erce and Java followed behind, not much caring about what the students were saying, nor about the battle that was winding down nearby. "This is what I was talking about when I mentioned how I don't like 'large groups'," He sighed to her quietly. "Notice how both of us have pretty much been completely annexed out of their conversations; kinda like we're invisible or something... well, whatever. have you given any thought to what your going to catch on the trip?" Erce was beginning to get impatient as he spoke. Aren't we here to do some last minute training before this trip? She couldn't help but think to herself So why is he socializing with this girl instead of working with us? Whatever... Mareek was at that age, afterall... and Erce knew she would do fine in battle, training or no, so might as well try to occupy herself; maybe she could try talking to Java for once. The Porygon never really did anything to communicate with anyone other than Mareek himself, but obviously he was more than capable of it if he wanted. "You," she began, though none of the humans around would be able to understand a lick of what she said. All they would hear would be a soft 'Scy...' Java though, said nothing in response, didn't even acknowledge her. "I know you can hear me," She insisted. "You don't have any issues understanding Mareek when he issues directions in battle." Again Java said nothing, but at least this time he turned to face her... and then she realized why the Porygon wasn't responding; it had no mouth to talk back to her with. Then she recalled about how all the times Mareek had seemed to be speaking with the thing, he'd always been looking at his Dex...obviously that was the main medium (And probably also the only one) through which the Porygon could communicate. So much for that idea then. She thought to herself, resigned to simply wait on her Trainer...not like she had much choice in the matter anyway. -
aaaaaaand Slade starts to go overboard even after dobby and I advised him to be careful of that. This is why I took that joke earlier seriously...
-
I will have to get around to creating actual weapon descriptors and standard loadouts, but yes, you can get creative about it a little. Like say you have some type of modification on your weapon (Though in all honestly, you guys should really wait for me to describe them before you go do that, since it'll make it easier if you know what each weapon actually does) I'll get on that tommorow Anyways, just to give some perspective, at this point in time, Gun technology is in the middle of a transition from physical lead/ metal bullets to energy projectiles like lasers, hence why the two currently are side by side another and not one or the other only. So long as Modifications aren't ridiculously over powered, I'm fine with them. And for future reference: I have no idea at all what Firefall is.

Aaaaaaand... right when I'm trying to get back in from 2 pages behind...I get ninja'd eh, well... Silence is golden afterall...
-
Pretty much this. Just keep it resonable with all the physics mombo jumbo (by that, I mean don't go overboard, like Dobby has already warned against) and it should be fine
-
It's not that you have to switch it for something else, Exlink... I just feel that some of the tactics described in that little joke were just completely unfair to whoever gets into a battle with slade in the future and I was simply speaking up to try to voice that opinion. I've already seen the roots of them from our own fight, and so I'm not going to regard what was said as a joke because to me it seems like it could entirely happen at this rate. So yeah... sorry, but I'm taking it seriously
-
I would... but honestly at the rate things seem to be going from that comment, that thing of slade's is going to be a ridiculous nightmare to face in battle, so much so that really someone shouldn't even bother to put forth the effort, just lay down and surrender because they can't win. Again, I'm sorry, but I honestly couldn't just sit by and keep my mouth shut anymore when I saw that idea
-
No... I'm sorry, but no. I just have to shout Over Powered and bad taste at this very theory. And like Trubo already said, It wouldn't work out anyway because a Magenton's three body's are not physically capable of separating themselves from each other

((Official Theme of this RP:)) "We're here, sir." A lone pilot said as he eased back on the controls. All around him the cockpit instruments were blazing to life as he initiated the landing procedures, shutting off the engines and reducing their speed enough to not burn up upon touch down. Sitting beside him was a man of high Military rank, his shoulders covered with silver epillets and a host of medals adorning his broad chest. He stood from his seat, gazing at the ruins visible in the distance, shrouded partially in the dense vegetation of the sprawling forest. The setting sun cast a bright glare against the glass, giving the ancient site a beautifully lit silhouette in the evening light. "Excellent," he said simply, glancing over his shoulder at a young man sitting behind him. "Major Bane... deploy." "Yes sir," was all the other man said, standing up from his own seat and moving to the tiny door at the back of the cockpit. It slid open smoothly the moment he approached, revealing a short corridor leading to the Personnel bay. The high ranking man spoke up again before he could exit however. "And do not come back to Esperanza without the objective." "Understood sir," he said, barely even acknowledging the older man. "I just pray that there'll be an Esperanza to go back to once we get it." Then before the official could comment on that, he removed himself from the room, his monochromatic boots echoing with every step off the metallic floors of the Flyer. *** In the Personnel Bay The personnel bay of this troop transport Flyer was relatively large compared to most. Made to accommodate fifty or sixty heavily armed soldiers, barely a fraction of that capacity were situated in the room. The benches built into the ship's wall were small and somewhat stiff, made of steel and synthetic leather... though, them being that way was meant to further discipline soldiers by preventing them from falling asleep so easily while en-route to a target. Bright flood lights came on in the space as a deep shuddering filled the air, followed by stillness. The ten Esperanza Ranger Core operatives sitting inside the bay had just felt the sensation of the craft's landing. The flood lights decreased in intensity a little after several seconds; they too were meant to prevent Sleeping soldiers during the trip, hard to sleep when it's so bright, afterall. The stillness and silence in the air was broken by the smooth click of the two doors at the end of the bay sliding open, revealing an individual wearing a Black and White Exo-suit, the mark of a Special Forces Agent... strange, now that any of the soldiers actually thought about it. Why go with ERC operatives for such a crucial mission as this one? They were several cuts below the Esperanza Special Forces, that much had been proven time and time again over the years. So Why_not assemble the entire team from ESF agents? why just send the one? "Prepare for Immediate Deployment, Soldiers..." The Agent said, his voice morphed into an authoritative sounding command by his Helmet's Commlink system as it buzzed into the ear of each of the assembled individuals. at the back of the large space an outline of outside light appeared. A thick grinding sound echoed out as a pair of large rectangular doors opened and the Boarding ramp extended out, making contact with the grass covered clearing with a THUMP. the ESF drew a strange looking rifle from it's place on his suit's belt, loading a single clip into the bottom and cocking the weapon. "And if you have any last minute questions that weren't covered in your briefing," he continued as he walked past all of them and stopped just short of the Docking ramp. "That's tough then; you should've asked back when you had the chance to still back out." with that he marched off of the Aircraft into the evening light, leaving the group to make any last minute preparations before joining him outside.

Eh, Chimchain, how much time until that whole warping to Devin's house thing? I'm only asking because I want to know whether or not to have Mareek even bother training right now
-
It's fine now, Notus. Alright, we have... 10 players. I'm officially shuting down registration now. Bagel's sign up sheet is considered void right now since he never bothered to come and finish it; it's not my responsibility to hold his hand through checking the OCC every so often and filling out a bit of simple information if he wants to participate. I know he's been actively recently, and that he's had the time to make several post over the past few days, so really no excuse for him not having this done yet when he was one of the first to get a sheet up and several weeks have passed since then. Moving on to more relevant things, The chapter 1 IC will be started today. you all will not be dropped straight into Eden at first however, I have things I want to set up in the story before I get the actual mission underway. You'll see what I mean.

Regardless, sorry. Now, to everyone: is there anything crucial missing from the OP in terms of PCs? have I forgotten anyone?(I know sir bagel isn't in there, but he never finished his sign up sheet, so can't really do a whole lot about that.) Do I have the class statistics right? I only ask because in all honesty... I just done for tonight. I'm not going to check to make sure right now. though I swear to fucking Jesus and all twelve of the damn apostales, I'm gonna find a way to hack around this "K9 Protection" bullshit on this computer... honestly, why the hell should I be restricted with time limits and shit and have half the sites I use for writing resources and things I need on here be blocked if it's my kid sister who doesn't know how to behave on one of these machines? I'll finish whatever's in need of dire finishing tomorrow

I still can't shake the creeping feeling... that even if Anver kills this poor man who's tending the bar... His family's still gonna bite the dust. -
And now we all know so that this doesn't happen again on here. Sorry if my rather poor wording of things offended you, Murdoc. It's relatively late here and I'm beginning to find that posting things with so little sleep is beginning to highly impair me in my word choice all across the boards here. Anyways, hopefully Neph can edit tomorrow and then I can actually get this damn thing started for you guys with a Chapter 1 IC...
