I do believe that at this point; this RP and it's OCC & IC threads are officially the fastest moving to ever exist on these Subforums, and the Chapter 1 thread is the longest to exist on here. Congrats, Chimchain, and this is all on your first hosting gig.

Then it'll be Erce for the sole Mega EDIT: wait, do you mean just one mon that's going to Mega Evolve, or just one species that's capable of it?

Well...with this little resolve, Mareek's final team has probably changed quite a bit These aren't in any particular order. If they have nicknames, it means that Mareek has a member of the Evo Line already. Main Team Reserves

what do you think of this Avi?

you uh... you kinda hit a bit of a sore spot with Mareek there, Exlink... Think about it though... Where the ever loving fuck were the International Police during the time of the Rockets? why was, out of all the agents an international organization would logically have in it's ranks, only ONE guy was sent to kanto to investigate? If they posed such a threat that you were willing to actually send anyone after them at all, then why didn't you send more than ONE man!? yeah... well if you're an agent, why the hell are you telling me? what If I was a rocket in disguise? Now then... I'm not much one for scandal... but how the hell is it that the Rockets managed to just waltz up and take over Silph co.in the first place? They sent someone after them, so what the fuck happened!? Why did the law enforcement not have intel of this before it happened? The signs were all there; I'm sure that the signs of what they were planning were all there if someone had just bothered to look for them. For the love of jesus; The Terrorist even had a recruitment poster up in the Celadon City Game Corner! And not even that, but the secret button revealing the entrance to their base of operations was RIGHT FREAKING BEHIND IT. How did law enforcement not notice it? How is it that people just went "Oh hey, look, there's a recruitment flyer for a terrorist group." and then go back to gambling and not even report it? Again, where's the IP... in fact, where's any of the cops in Kanto for that matter? Oh yeah, you know the guys guarding the Saffron city gates? yeah, how did they NOT notice a bunch of Rocket members walzing right through into the city? Just...just...WHY? I'm sorry... I'm taking a Homeland Security course this year and it's kinda teaching me to scrutinize every mistake that could've avoided fully fore seeable disaster and asked why was it made... I'm done with my rant now though. anyways, that's how Mareek feels justified in blaming the IP for Silph Co. right along with the Rockets. the Rockets may have commited the act, but the IP pretty much let them by not doing enough to stop things in their early stages.

((Incoming rant and bad feels)) "Theres a time to grow up, ya know..." Mareek said cryptically. he couldn't help but be more than a little irked about what Slade just said...lighten up? why? what reason does he have to lighten up? He has a goal, damn it, a career he's going to take. and lightening up isn't exactly gonna be helpful in pursuing it. "Even if you're forced to, it doesn't matter, because everyone has to eventually." He handed the two capsules to the Audino attending the Healing machine, keeping his eyes on the process being performed on his partners as he continued. "I don't do play time, alright?" he said a little angrily, taking his eyes off the machine and the audino and glaring at his roommate for a moment. "I take things seriously because that's what's been necessary in my life, so excuse me if I'm a rain cloud over your frigging kiddie float. Things aren't guaranteed for me or my mom, alright? She has to work around the clock just to support the two of us, and you don't even know how hard it was for her to send me here. Things are not handed to us in my house hold; We have to work for them, we have to set goals and fight to ensure we reach them. So forgive me if I'm not 'Fun' enough for you, Slade. I came here to learn, not to joke around and waste all the time and work and effort that's gone into getting me here. I have a goal, and I'm not going to ruin the path to that goal just because someone thinks I should lighten up..." The audino came back and returned Erce and Java's capsules, interrupting what at this point had turned into a mini rant for Mareek. He stowed them both into his pockets and turned. "If the chief of the International Police lightens up, what do you think happens, Slade?" he continued, absolutely merciless in his argument. "I'll tell you what happens; people die, folks lose fathers and mothers and children before their time, and all because the chief didn't want to take a threat seriously, all because he wanted to 'lighten up' for a little while. Well, I'm not going to allow that to happen; I'm not going to cause other people that kind of hurt just because I felt like sitting back for a while and not properly doing my damn job." With that said, he broke off the conversation and headed off. He honestly didn't know where he was going, just that it was somewhere. There was a strange warmth on his cheeks though...and in his eyes too. They were tears. He was crying without even knowing it. "Stop it..." He said angrily to himself, trying to wipe away the tears. "Stop crying, damn it...tears aren't going to do anything." -
Don't think I'm done screwing with Darius, BTW anyways, I think that simply calling each other out when we go too far will be more than doable. there's more than enough people here with enough experience to point out things to those who might be newer to things.

"It's Mareek..." Mareek said. "Mareek A. Sisto...I don't know if your from kanto, but if you are, the last name might or might not ring a bell to you." He stopped the conversation off right then and there. It wasn't all that uncommon if folks from Kanto occasionally knew or remembered his Last name from the news reports all those years ago. The ones about the only casualty during the Silph co. headquarters invasion; A high clearance R&D scientist who had been murdered by a Rocket Officer who has, to this very day, yet to be officially identified and charged... but Mareek knew damn well who had done it. All of his fathers co-workers who witnessed it had described the same person to him and his mother... but not to the media... god knows how much of an absolute shit storm it would've become if they had gone to the media with the information, and quite honestly, the way they had been after it happened, there was no way in hell either him or his mom would've been able to handle it. "I don't really do rivals, let me say that right here and now." He said, changing the subject.. "I prefer to measure myself based only on my own mistakes and Shortfalls, my own actions and decisions, My own acheivements; not someone else's. That's all rivalry is at the end of the day; A game of petty one-ups manship. It might seem that it's not, but honestly, that's the truth of it. If at the end of the day, you base your decisions solely on beating someone, if all you have to drive you forward is the desire to see someone else put beneath you constantly just so that you can have a superiority complex for a few minutes, so that you sit there and tell them that they are lesser than you; then that's not growing as a person. It's just flat out pathetic." With that said, He stowed Java's ball in his pocket with Erce's. Then he turned from Slade, honestly not giving a damn about whether the fedora wearing boy disagreed with his opinion on rivalry or not, and headed off towards the healing station that had been set up in the distance. ((Hmmm... that argument... did he just describe Gary Oak?)) -
But you also have to remember: in that, we are the pokemon battling themselves. IE, it's not just standing around shouting orders; We were both directly fighting one another using our own physical bodies in the story. It's pretty much like a pure PVP or a street fight. We both had to restrain ourselves in the craziness of our tactics and make sure we actually took reasonable damage from each other's blow in order to prevent being suish... on here... it's not so. Because it's something else doing all the fighting for you, that sense of needing to impose Self-Restraint in combat and action does not as easily exist. So it takes more conscious effort on the part of the player in order to reign Battles in to a reasonable degree and be fair in terms of damage taken by attacks.

Technically he was not even truly "God" but let's dicuss that in our own relavant OCC thread, instead of disrespecting Chim by starting a lengthy convo on here about it, KK?
-
Never Again. He goes into every fight guns blazing from this point on. it doesn't matter who he's up against; no one is allowed to be viewed as weak anymore in his eyes. Anyways, I second the thoughts on the Damage calc. If we all fight fairly and use common sense and logic, it shouldn't be an issue requiring such a measure even with some of the tactics that will inevitably spring up during the course of the Story. Calcing should only be done if something is so extraordinary that it completely breaks the Bull Shit meter, and even then it should be up Chimchains final judgement on how things turn out. Oh god...

"No one did," Mareek said simply. "It's a draw. Plain and simple." He turned away from Slade and went over what he had done wrong in order to cuase it to end this way... of the mistakes he had made that prevented Victory just now. The first thing I did wrong was before the damn battle even started... He thought to himself bitterly. I underestimated him; thought he would be nothing but a quick win. Then when the fight started, I didn't fucking take it seriously enough because of that... I didn't give Erce the prompting to fight as hard she would've needed to until it was too late...and then everything else just completely built off of that. I let myself get distracted and lowered my guard for a minute when that God-forsaken magnemite of his finally went down... then it just continued to snowball from there. His voice did not reflect any of the inner rage he was feeling towards himself when he turned back to Slade though. "Good match," he said simply. and then he was just done talking. Even though his demeanor suggested nothing of his emotions, it was clear as day in his eyes that something was going on. He would never look at Slade with the same lax and underestimating nature as he had before though, that much was for sure. In fact, he decided right then and there: He was going stop this arrogance right here and now. He had come to draw here because he had been a snobby prick in the beginning... and he was never gonna allow something like this to happen again. He was a little fish in a big pond here; all the others both in and outside of his program were probably just as strong or even stronger a tactician than he was... for Christ sake, just look at what craziness Slade had been able to come up with during their fight! He was going to change, right this very second. not next week, not tomorrow, not in an hour, and not in five minutes, But Right. Fucking. Now. Starting now... he was going to go into every single battle he fought from this day on assuming that he'd have to give everything he has if he even wants to be able to think about winning. Play time is officially over. And it's never gonna be back again. -
Look man, I gotta be blunt here, so sorry, but please, just make up your mind about what Class you wanna play. I need an exact answer to keep it organized and to keep tabs once the IC starts. If you really want something that'll retain some use/ contact with nature, then why don't you consider the Medic class? After all, this is the description of the Primary skill for it: Field Medicine/ Medical Training- self explanatory for the most part. advanced medical & Anatomy knowledge as well as an impressive resourcefulness and knowledge of wild medicinal plants are the things that pretty much sum up this skill.so...Garrens backstory could actually potentially fit in with this class more than it would've with Shock Trooper

"Wait...what that smell..." Scrawl said, snarling a little as he moved around sinbad and towards the hole the man had fallen through. "That smell.. Scrawl know that smell." the spider turned to the Sniper. His voice was noticeably a bit dejected. "That smell be Snake Man... but if it really Snake men..." The spider began climbing up the steep wall of rubble leading down into the underground space, his barbed legs cracking holes into the rocky material as he gracefully made his way up to the top a few seconds later and stuck his head out. "Noooes!" Sinbad could hear him cry in a panicked voice. Scrawl pulled himself up and out of the hole, leaving the man alone now. "Noooes! Scrawl be right; snake men get into city! Scrawl has failed!" The holes that Scrawl had left in the rubble wall were more than large enough to serve as a foot hold for climbing, and they were spaced close enough together for it to be an easy exercise... but in the opposite direction, in the darkness of the room, gleamed a bright object... if Sinbad looked closely, he might even say that would be gold. *** "My reassson iss plain and sssimple, Knight," The Naga Leader. "The only other way out of thisss cavern isss literally covered in liquid fire. The heat there isss ridiculousss; If any of usss were to try to traverssse it, we'd all die and be burned to crisps long before we reached where the passage ends. Going that way spellsss nothing but death, both for us and the Sssky Ssslayer." The Snake man turned away, handing Stratos off to another Naga as he continued. "That isss why I will not take you there or ssshow you the way. We are far more likely to sssucceed by sssimply taking the long route..." Behind the group of conversing warriors and absalom, however... something strange moved up into the city from somewhere under the street... "Noooes!" Cried Scrawl, thrusting his front two legs up in exasperation. "Noooes! Scrawl be right; snake men get into city! Scrawl has failed!" if they looked behind them, they'd see a strange, Giant spider the size of a horse drawn carriage with a carapace the color of gold and eight blazing blue eyes... it seemed to be the one shouting. ((@Exlink, Your dream is coming to an end soon. For now though, I'm gonna give a little focus to move things along with the others, but your little revisiting of the past will only last for about two or three more post at the most.))

"Damn it!" Mareek cursed. This had just gotten imposible... "Gahh... fine then, to hell with it! Java, use discharge, and then Tackle that thing with as much force as you can muster!" Java looked at Mareek for a moment... then it turned around and a torrent of electricity issued forth from it's body in all directions. The next moment, the Porygon shot off towards Flare's charge. While it moved far slower and covered far less ground than Flare did with the electrified tackle, it didn't matter in the end... It didn't matter because the moment their charges, one of fire and the other of lightning, collided head on, a medium sized explosion echoed all across the area, kicking up copious amounts of dust and obscuring the view of both trainers of what had happened to the enemy pokemon. All either Mareek or Slade was able to see was what had happened to their own team member. "God...Arceus..." Mareek said, panting. he felt a bit exerted now, as if it hit been he himself doing the battling and taking the blows... a sign that the opponent he had just fought was indeed not to be underestimated or trifled with. This type of fatigue feeling only came when he had honestly given his all. "Java..." he said, kneeling down next to the defeated porygon. it could barely move, looking up at him with an unreadable stare. "You did your very best; that's all that matters, The fact that you gave it your all... Both you and Erce did great; It's my fault that this didn't exactly end in our favor." The Creature's eyes softened upon hearing those words. Mareek toke out it's capsule and recalled it. The dust cloud was beginning to clear a little, but he still had no idea of what had happened to Slade's Growlithe; or even whether he had lost this fight against his roomate or whether they had come to a draw, for that matter... ((@Exlink: You can have the dust clear up completely when you post)) -
Very well then... I think the easiest way is just to cause an explosion from two attacks colliding. I'll have Java use Discharge combined with tackle and then get hit by FC causing said needed explosion. Sound good?
-
Ya know what? Screw it, Exlink. Both Mareek and Slade fought hard as hell in this battle. and at this rate, your just gonna keep having flare use Flame wheel/charge and I'm just gonna have java keep using Discharge every time the attack lands... We're gonna most likely just knock each other out anyway, so what do you say? You wanna just end this thing in a draw?I'll reply in the IC once you answer this
-
I'm sorry, but I honestly have no idea what kind of logic is in play right here. How the hell is Roar capable of sending a Category:Special Move back to it's sender, or even affect it at all unless it's sound based? Now, I could understand if Tri Attack were a physical move, but...

"Conversion 2!!!" Mareek roared as quickly as he could. Now things got serious, no time to fuck around. He would have to be quick with his orders and even quicker with his predictions of Slade's next move... the latter of which had proved rather difficult so far. Java's body glowed with another white light and then the boy's dex came up with a new message: Dragon. a moment later, Flare made impact with the first part of his combo, slamming into Java with the Flame Charge and then biting into it, but Java was ready, it didn't let the pain distract it. "Discharge to get him off, Then hit em with Tri Attack!" Mareek screamed with as much urgency as he could. the moment he saw Flare about to iniate the last part of the attack. Java unleashed the electric storm and sent Flare, who was physically attached to it via bite and unable to dodge this close, back a good few feet from Java before the pup could unleash it's ember. Then the injured Porygon glowed white as three familiar spheres formed in front of it and it sent a Tri Attack heading right for the Growlithe... Mareek was just praying that this would be over in the next few moments... ========== Status: Java- 43% (Took the Flame Charge (Made NVE by Dragon typing) and Bite, but interupted before Ember could be used) - Pure Dragon Type currently -Attack+1 Moves used -Conversion 2- (Used to switch to dragon type) -Discharge: 104 power after Analytic boost (Sorry about the auto hit for that, but honestly, it would be freaking ridicolous for it to miss when Flare is right up on Java like that, given that it's an area attack)(Used to interrupt combo after Bite landed and before Ember could be used) -Tri- Attack: 80 power -
Mareek has had that friggin scyther of his for seven years now, so there's my justification right there, plain and simple. And in regrads to henry coming off as a sue because of that statement, Murdoc pretty much summed it up already

"Thank god..." Mareek sighed as he saw the magnemite finally go down. "that thing was like a freaking night mare for us..." Then he looked up in time to see Java get impacted by Flare's flame charge, The porygon having tried to dodge at the last minute but too slow to pull it off. "Focus..." Mareek scolded himself. This was no time to lower his guard; this thing was far from over. He looked to Java as the Creature recovered from the Flame Charge. "Use Discharge while it's close!" And java did just that, the moment after Flare's attack was done, the porygon's body glowed a bright blue and torrents of electricity arced off in every direction, the power of the attack made stronger than usual due to Porygon's ability. many of the tendrils of lightning were heading straight for the growlithe. ======= Status Java- 70% -Pure Electric type -Attack +1 Moves used: Discharge (Base power of 80 x Analytic boost of 1.3 x STAB 1.5= 156 power) -
Yeah...Chimchain, I think this has indeed gone too far now. The sciencey/physics stuff Slade was using at first was kinda cool, but now it's just becoming a bit Overpowered and kinda unfair...
-
It seems we may be at a stand still in this fight... I have to say, it could honesty be anyone's match at this point. And PS: That Solar flare thing honestly sounds like complete hogwash to my ears as justification for this situation, so I'm just going to justify Tri Attack being able to be avoided like that as due to the fact that the attack has a fire, a ice, and an Electric component to it.
