  1. "The Byxbybion Waste is the means through which all is revealed." think on those words, for whatever importance they might be. and know that you can not find what you seek by entering the Waste Land normally. Someone here has already said what path you must take. Listen to them and leave a mountain in your wake.

I beat him back when Field Effects didn't even exist in the game. I used a strategy called Perseverance and another one called Observation, as well as a third one called Preparation. Those three will take you far in Reborn. Best to learn them early on.

    Hi!

Your weirdness is what makes us all love you, Hukuna Anyways, Welcome to Reborn, Momotaro. I'm Stratos... kinda starting to become a story teller of sorts around here. Since I see no one else has offered yet, I'll do the honors: If you're interested in Writing or Stories or are ever just bored, stop by the Role-playing Sub Forums here. We're all friendly there... mostly.
  4. I'm liking how this first chapter is going... who wants to be a beta reader?

I see, I see. Interesting. Is any Reborn Knowledge needed? (Like my extent is watching shofu play through the game XD.)

    3. Sutoratosu

      Sutoratosu

Not really. the Setting for the story is made from scratch and has a lore all it's own, so having prior knowledge of Reborn won't really matter much.

I may give it a look-trough at some point then.

Well...so it isn't a one shot hit... Well in my defense, it's only logical for one to have assumed that it was... It would make sense, thinking that using a fire type move on an overgrown field would scorch everything and neutralize the Field's effect. Though I guess a "Burning Field" rather than a "Scorched Field" is also a somewhat logical outcome of such a course of Action.

It would only be stupid if it weren't a one shot scenario, meaning that only if the Grassy field wouldn't be destroyed after using a fire-type move. but since it is a one shot scenario, it makes a helluva lot a sense. you can figure out why on your own, but here's a hint: Fire needs... Oxygen, Fuel, and heat. the more of these things a fire has, the stronger it will burn.

  8. Just intro the damn bird at a point later on in the game when it wouldn't give as big an advantage to the player and stop wasting time making arguments for/against it... after all, Ame has said multiple times that she intends to make it so that ALL Pokemon will eventually be obtainable in the game. It's really that simple... so just be patient, why don't you... starting an entire thread just to continue to debate this pointless mess...you must be cray-cray.
  9. Well... I do believe It's time I get started with writing this here story...

It'll be subtle enough to where it might take some thinking to make the connection, but obvious enough that it would be easy to at least get the idea behind the Easter eggs

Got the characters that will be appearing in the first two chapters done. now to get the chapters actually started.

  10. To add on to what Dobby said, if you're still in the process of writing up the story, you can feel free to PM me if you need/ want someone to help with it, or just serve as a beta reader/ critic and editor of sorts.
  11. Well, majority has ruled... We're gonna be doing War Games in the next chapter folks.
  12. Holyknight, might I have a word with you for a minute?

  13. Yeah, just what we need around here. someone acting like Fern... Welcome to the community, enjoy your stay. but just know this: if you're looking to troll folks... then you've come to the wrong place. that is all... Enjoy yourself and whatnot. good day.
  14. according to Ame, Bluemoon icecream can some times be obtained from certain vendors in the game. anyways, it is by far the fastest way to raise happiness to maximum (Literally, your mons could hate you, and give them one o these, they'll freaking become your best buddy. I know because I tried it for myself.). the next best options besides Bluemoon, are either the EV berries or the salons in the obsidia ward.
  15. Erick and DITS seem to be doing well... but Romulus is about to open up a can of whoop-ass with a nasty combo... EDIT: I'm currently debating whether I should get the war started in the next chapter, or have a "War Games" scenario instead (War Games referring to a military exercise in this case) I think by putting the actual war off till chapter 4 and using chapter 3 instead for a War Game taking place in about a month or two ahead of the current story time will allow for us to ease into the rising geo-political conflict instead of having to pretty much make a jump from the way things are now, when the international suspicions are just starting to arise. in other words, if we have a "War Game" than the plot will probably look a lot better in the end. (Here's the link for those who don't know about "War Games": http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Military_exercise ) But I'll let you all decide in this Straw poll: http://www.strawpoll.me/2329734 go on and cast your votes. Just a few details for the War Game: -It will most likely be an base-wide exercise taking place in the Bexley forest/ Rocky Mountains as well as in a town near the base that was abandoned in the late sixties. these settings will prepare GAOWs to fight in both urban and wilderness environments. the games will probably last for several days you would be sleeping on site and have to procure your own food for you and your squad mates (Though Co-operating with other squads would be encouraged.) your enemies in the fight will be Dittos transformed to look like foreign, hostile soldiers. (They would be controlled by commanding officers with a certain device that has already made it's debut in the story.)
  16. ERICK & RAY "I have to say, a match right now does sound interesting." Ray admitted as he Dismounted Salem and leap down to the ground beside Erick. He and Genisa had ported around for a bit since they had found that Indian burial mound, but they hadn't found anything all that interesting, so Erick had decided it was time to wrap things up and head back to the gates. Just a moment after Genisa had taken them back, Ray had popped up in the distance, still riding his beast like it was a horse. Erick didn't have anything else to do, so he figured: What the hell, why not test the new member to the team? "Glad you're interested," He responded, retrieving the capsule for Beldum and that...ghost...thing he had captured. "because I've also got something to show you that might be important." with a flick of both his wrist, the two creatures were sent out in a burst of white, Beldum hovering in the air and the Demon in the stone (What Erick had decided that he'd call the new member for now, he found it a bit funny, making a pun out of the old "Sword in the stone" legend.) fell to the ground like block of cement, the face of the rock it was bound to glowing with a purple haze, yet the actual GAO itself seeming to refuse to manifest itself. "Don't play this game," Erick warned "Because I honestly don't have the patience to put up with a whole lot of shit on my team." The commanding tone of his voice was enough to get the thing to reconsider it's choice to stay in the rock face. A moment later it's swirling, vaporous form popped out and the stone began to levitate in the air, causing the GAO to float just like Beldum was. "That's better." Erick commented. he turned his attention to Ray. "I found this thing on top of an Indian burial mound deep in the west part of the forest. Honestly, I don't have any idea what the hell it is or what it's affinity falls under." Ray took a few steps closer and examined the GAO, scratching his head a moment later as he admitted. "I don't really know what it is either, Erick." "What...? But aren't you the guy who came up with this whole system of classifying them and all that?" "No..." the Scientist answered sheepishly "Actually, that was oak who came up with placing them into species... I just came up with the affinity system, which was really a much simpler task compared to that." "so you don't even know what type this thing is?" Erick asked, a bit of disbelief in his voice. "Well... no, I can't. But, in my defense, It's not always as easy to tell what type they are just by looking at them." Erick looked at the good doctor a bit more skeptically now. "then how else, exactly, are we supposed to find out?" Ray only smiled at the question. "Now that," he said. "That's something that is easy; We have a battle, just like you requested a few minutes ago. we'll see what it resists and what it's strong against, then we can go off of that data and figure out what category it falls into." he reached into the pocket of his Labcoat and pulled out a capsule, depressing the triggers on it and tossing the sphere into the air. out of it emerged a large, pale blue beetle that was almost as tall as a man. The insectoid beast stared at DITS (Demon In The Stone) ominously with it's beady, yellow eyes, sizing up the competition. Ray tucked the things capsule back into his pockets, saying proudly "Erick, You've already seen my other partner, Romulus, a few times in the past few months, but I think it's time for you to officialy get to know him as he thoroughly whips your ass in combat." "Yeah, alright then, Ray." Erick replied, fiegning a chuckle... he was going to make this Point-dexter eat those very words in a few minutes. "I guess we'll do this one on one." "Agreed." Ray nodded, taking a few steps back as Romulus stepped onto what would soon become the field of battle. Erick ordered Beldum back to him as DITS floated out, eyeing this approaching opponent. "You ready?" Ray asked him. Erick nodded, and the doctor took the liberty of issuing the first attack. "Brick Break!" he called. The Beetle unfurled it's fiery orange wings and zipped across the feild, nailing DITS with a spot on shot... well, no, nailing is not the right word, because the attack didn't seem to do anything to DITS whatsoever. chuckling a little at seeing how useless Ray's first shot was, Erick responded with a command of his own. "Get that weak shit out of here!" DITS responded to the Order by spewing a small white flame from it's mouth, which made contact with Romulus and left a large burn mark on the GAOs arm as it raised it to shield it's face. The next second, DITS eyes light up with a dark violet hue, and Romulus became engulfed in a similar light, bringing the GAO to it's knees in pain. But the Ghost didn't seem to thing it should stop there, because just seconds later it unleashed a burst of black circular objects from it's mouth, blasting Ray's GAO with it and sending the beetle flying backwards across the field. It got up unsteadily after landing at Ray's feet. DITS looked back at Erick, and he could see a troubling gleam in it's eye... this thing might have been enjoying the fight a bit too much. "Romulus!" Ray called, subsequently bringing DITS attention from Erick and back to the battle "Night Slash!" The Beetle obeyed without hesitation, It's claws glowing a harsh violet, eager to get revenge for the barrage it had just suffered moments ago, though Erick could notice the pained look on it's face; it seemed that the burn DITS had somehow inflicted was proving a distraction... and that was all the openings that Erick needed. "Take it down before it can close in!" he ordered the ghost as Romulus again unfurled it's wings, preparing to launch the attack. DITS seeming did nothing at first, but then it's shadow began to ripple, bursting forth across the ground and erupting right underneath Romulus, knocking it off it's course and causing the bug to crash into the ground. It got up after a few seconds, with more difficulty than the the last time. It stood shakily, glaring at DITS, it's anger rising. "Impressive," Ray admitted "It seems this thing has a knack for combat..." then he he just smirked before shouting out another order. "Enough Playing around, Rom, Get in close and begin the ass whipping!"
  17. yeah, it's safe to say that everyone (Well, mostly everyone) has changed significantly in the past six months of the story. (Which is good, because there was no way in hell that crop of wimps from chapter one was gonna survive heated combat) take Erick for example: in chapter one, he was a bit of a boy-scout who had the tendency to flaunt his knowledge of military procedure, as well as try to put himself in the lead of the group because of this. back then he also tended to try to avoid personal conflict and also tried to prevent conflict from erupting in his surroundings, and had the habit of being a bit soft on his partners. Now, he's become a far more temperamental version of himself, not really caring about being the leader anymore, just so long as some who is competent holds the position. he even often times mentally challenges Surge's authority (Like in the atrium at the end of the Articuno fight.) however he's smart enough to know not to blatantly voice these challenges and instead finds a way to make a direct, subtle challenge that won't get him reprimanded for verbal misconduct/ the disrespect of a superior officer. he's gotten to be less lenient and more strict with his team, making sure that every GAO he commands knows who is the dominant force in the interaction. along with this, he's also lost a bit of the patience he used to display when interacting with Genisa, and is able to become annoyed with her far more easily and quickly now. His verbal filter has also diminished a little from what it once was, and he can at times be brutally blunt and say harsh things without really meaning to. all in all, he means business nowadays. the nice Erick you all knew from six months ago had become a bit more serious as he's been pursuing his personal goal to avenge his old man. and he won't stop until he wears Raikou's pelt like Hercules did with the Nemerian Lion. Heck, another example is Ray and Surge. separately, the two haven't really changed much, but as a pair, they're relationship has improved somewhat, with each having developed a somewhat grudging respect for the other now. as You've noticed, they've yet to try to tear each other's throats out in this chapter, and their raw animosity/ lack of respect towards each other has more or less become a rivalry of sorts. (To make it clear, yes, those two did not like each other at all in the beginning. they both got a bad impression of the other the first time they met, and it kinda just went from there for a while.)
  18. You do not have to necessarily engage an Enemy in Combat in order to destroy them. Sometimes, merely uttering a few well chosen words at a well chosen time and place can bring down an entire Empire. If you are participating in Project Sky Slayer, I strongly advise you remember this simple fact. it may well save all your lives someday.

What worse could they do than Lucas already did? Episodes 1-3 were already horrible they can't do much worse imo.

  19. After reading this, I honestly prefer to just keep the random chance in the games rather than eliminate them... so complicated sounding...
  20. They don't officially have "potions" yet, but the juice of restorative Berries put into an aerosol-form is basically all that the "Spray-Type wound machines" Concept is anyway, so it's fine.
  21. What the hell...? Only 50$ profit? nah man... that ain't gonna fly... you're better off doing the Payday or the Itemfinder method than farming Moomoo milks.
  22. Looks like with all these Projects I have open, something will have to go on the back burner for a while... let's see, I'm not going to put off the Vero/Alice backstory... and PSS and Surge Story aren't options for this... so that means that the "ISP" RP project will have to get the short end of the stick

Damn it, so looking forward to ISP. Hope you can get back to it.

  23. Right now the Scanners only determine the level. they do this by sending a series of "Ticks" at the target GAO. these "Ticks" then bounce off the creature and return to the device. the number of these "Ticks" that return are inversely proportional to the level of the Pokemon. so for example, with each scan, the Scanner's on you wrist sends out 100 "ticks", now then, say your scanning a level 12 Eevee. the "Ticks" would hit it, and of the 100 that were sent, only 88 would echo back. the device takes the number of ticks sent and the number echoed back and uses this data to determine the level. it takes three seconds between the time the "ticks" are sent and return. it's pretty simple algebra, really, here's a table to make things easier: 0 ticks returned= Level 100 10 ticks returned= Level 90 20 ticks returned= Level 80 30 ticks returned= Level 70 40 ticks returned= Level 60 and so on and so forth when it completes the scan, the results would look like this on the screen: "Growth: 59" (after "Growth:", it'll say what the numeric value of the pokemon's level) so yeah, that's how it should be formated. In order to initiate a scan, you have to press and hold the button on the side for two seconds while aiming the face of the Scanner at the GAO in question. I took the idea for "Ticks" from how "Chunks" work in Minecraft... Moving on now, I'm debating whether I should have that spiritomb Erick just captured raise hell along with Enyo's Gyarados, or have it be obedient enough to him to the point where it will refrain from cuasing issues... though the latter seems alot more appropriate seeing as how Erick really doesn't allow a whole lot of non-sense/ challenging his authority on his team (Something which in a way, Enyo kinda does,). In other words, he's going to whip spiritomb into submission.
  24. ERICK Erick kneeled at the foot of the giant stone mound protruding out of the Earth. Genisa stood behind him, watching their surroundings nervously, as if expecting something to show up and start raising hell. In his hand, Erick was examining a few old Arrowheads and Bullets he had found around the place. from what he could gather, this had probably been some battle site or something long ago, from what he had learned during his grade school days, given the location and the fact that there seemed to have been some type of armed conflict here, he figured that the artifacts he was looking at dated back to the "Manifest Destiny" era of the 19th century. Some settlers had probably come into these woods looking for game to hunt... had probably come across a few Native American tribesmen instead, and well, one could only assume that one thing lead to another and things escalated to shoot out. Too bad for the Amerindians that the white settlers had obviously had Gun-powder tech... It's hard to outmatch a Gun and Bullet with just a Wooden Bow and Arrow. "We should hurry up and get away from here," Genisa spoke into his thoughts. He glanced over at her, annoyed that his analysis had been interupted. "You've already said that twice now," Erick sighed. "Starting to sound like a broken record... What the hell's got you so eager to move on?" "I sense Hatred and Anger here... and sorrow..." She answered, taking a few steps away from the mound as she did so. "the type of Sorrow a mother who has to bury her own child feels..." Hearing that confirmed Erick's hunch about what had happened here. though it was still a bit odd, this mound was over two hundred years old, at least, and yet most of the stones were still visible... vegetation and grass should've grown over this thing in a thick layer by now. He glanced at the ground around the burial site, seeing that for about a meter all around the mound, there was no plant life whatsoever. The ground here was obviously fertile, it was a rich, Earthy black in color, and it was like this all throughout the area, Erick knew that because he had ordered Beldum to tear up some of the ground nearby in several places in order to check. Over head, there was no canopy above the Mound, as if the Trees here had taken special care to Not allow their branches to grow there. None of this made any sense... Plants thriving all around here, and yet as soon as you got three feet away from any point of this thing, the ground is completely barren. Erick dropped the Artifacts in his hand, standing and taking a look at the top of the Stone construction. there was a particularly odd stone there, one that had a cone like shape and two dots on it's face, along with a crack down the middle that together with the dots resembled a face. For a moment, Erick thought he had actually seen the blemishes on it's smooth surface flash a bright violet out of his periphery when he had looked away, but it was exactly the same as before when he looked back at it. My mind must be playing tricks on me... He thought to himself as he turned and began walking away from the site. This whole mystery about the lack of plant life was interesting and all, but Erick was no botanist, and besides, he still had to find another GAO partner. "Come on Genisa," he said as he passed her. "We're done he-" he was cut off as the air temperature plummeted and a strange noise filled the air, almost like the cross between a cry and an electric buzz. After that countless voices began to whisper, they sounded as if they were coming from behind him. He glanced behind him, then did a double take... There was some type of spiraling... purpal and green face... thing... demon was coming out of the stone, like a ghost or something. No... scratch that, not a ghost, this had to be some weird type of Genetically Altered Organism, though that in itself might be a bit of a stretch, most GAOs at least vaguely resembled an animal... Erick had no Idea what the hell this could've possibly resembled. That didn't matter as he took out Beldum's capsule, though. since this GAO had so conveniently appeared just as he was about to resume the search, it was gonna be his soon, end of discussion. "Stun it!" Erick ordered as he unleashed the blue cylindrical creature from it's red and white sphere. Beldum obeyed instantly, rotating counter clockwise in the air as it emerged and sending a weak bolt of electricity at the Ghost GAO, hitting it squarely. Erick couldn't really tell if it had worked or not, but he didn't let up. "Genisa," he called out next. She didn't wait for him to finish the order however, simply let loose a flurry of small, glowing leaves into the air, all of them honing to a razor sharp edge and then firing off towards the Ghost, hitting it spot on and knocking it off of the tower, where it then lay on the ground, struggling to get back upright. Erick could see that the thing was somehow bound to the work that had been atop the mound. He knew where he would order a strike next, at the weak point, at the enemy's base. "Beldum," He called. "Send a blast of electricity at that rock on the bottom!" The Creature again obeyed, rotating even faster as a familiar Rrrrrrrrrrrrr....ing sound filled the air along with the smell of burnt ozone, though that was something that had never happened before. A moment after Erick gave the command, a thick torrent of lightning peeled off Beldum's body, arcing it's across the clearing and colliding with the Keystone of the Ghost creature. a shrill cry of pain echoed up, and the thing retreated back into the rock, the eyes and crack glowing with a violet haze. Erick didn't hesitate, reaching into his pocket and tossing an empty capsule at his prey. it had the stone and bounced off, hinging open and drawing the thing into it after turning it into energy, then falling to the black soil of the barren ground, shaking a few times, then coming to a stop. The young soldier walked over to collect his trophy, gazing down at his own reflection in the sphere. "Bet Ray's gonna want to see this thing..." he muttered as he stowed the ball into his belt and recalled Beldum. "Now let's get out of here." Genisa didn't have to told twice, she was more than happy to be away from this place... though, with that thing captured now, the feelings she had sensed before weren't around anymore... but still.
