[OOC/Sign-ups] Surge Story
Sutoratosu replied to Sutoratosu's topic in Unofficial Official RP Club's General
Yeah sure. Skarmory would be fine. they tend to nest in an area of the Bexley forest thick with Thorn bushes (They like to scratch up against the thorns in order to strengthen their skin) so have fun... Go for it. grab a Drilbur. they have to stop digging and eat sometimes... Either of Coragunk or Treeko is fine, Typhlo. Treeko are found in the canopy of the forest. Croagunk live near bodies of water. and to answer Pineapples question about what Lionels supposed to do: I said that the General collected Lionel and Ray from the GAO ward before he took the Squad to be debreifed. so right now Lionel is already with the group. no Character on the team was intended to be missing during Oaks demonstration.- 1189 replies

[OOC/Sign-ups] Surge Story

Oh hell, it's gonna be a awhile until we get to the point I have planned to intro them... and I've already introed Gen 5 technically speaking, with the Vanillux attacks and all... so yeah, go ahead, encountering a Gen 5 pokemon like emolga at this point would be fine. EDIT: and you can all feel free to add 3 levels onto your mons from the victory in the Articuno fight. (that is of course, if you Partners were still up and kicking by the end, fainted ones aren't eligible to gain levels.) if it can evolve at it's level, then you are free to evolve it if you choose. from now on I won't require you to check in with me before initiating it. (But I will call you out if something doesn't seem right about it...)- 1189 replies

[OOC/Sign-ups] Surge Story
Sutoratosu replied to Sutoratosu's topic in Unofficial Official RP Club's General
A note on those new capture-ready Capsules (Pokeballs) you know that whole "Mark" feature in the anme and the games? not like the option in the PC in the games, but the thing that prevents someone from catching a Pokemon that already has a current trainer. ((Here's an exceprt about the matter from bulbapedia:)) Yeah, that doesn't exist yet. so that means that at this point in time, any capsule thrown at any GAO will be able to capture it, whether it's already been caught and tamed or whether it's feral. so in a sense "Stealing Pokemon" with a Pokeball is quite possible. that said however, don't any of you dare try that against one another, because you all are a team, and that type of shit will only prove to be harmful to your trust in each other when you need it most. (You can steal mons from enemy soldiers once we get to that point, but you MUST ask me for permission first.) And for those curious as to what happened to Enyo's party, at this point she won't be getting the capsules back... so she'll be capturing new partners from scratch now. Edit: as a side note, Rule 9 has been added to OP of this thread: 9. If a Player of this RP is inactive for more than 45 days (A month and a half) without giving any notice of their absence to the host prior, then the Host reserves the right to assume that said player is not going to be returning, and take permanent control of their character if necessary. the waiting period before the host can do this can grow longer or shorter from case to case as necessary, but 45 days is the standard. If a player who was Assumed permanently gone by the host returns, then control of the character will be relinquished back to them only if requested.- 1189 replies

Surge looked around as only Jory and Logan raised their hands. His disappointment and worries came back at that moment, but before he could speak, the General began rebuking him for wasting time with this matter. "Enough with this," McCarthy ordered. "So long as one person notices in the field, that's enough, because that one person can then alert the rest of the squad. Team work does not mean being able to know where your comrades are at every waking moment..." the tone of the elevator doors opening was heard as McCarthy walked over and thumbed the down button, then turning his attention back to the Sqaud. "What it does mean, is being able to communicate with you team mates. I suggest you all remember that. now enough about this, let's go deliver our news to everyone down in the Medical wing." With that said, he stepped in, followed by Fox1. the Doors slid shut the moment Surge stepped into the car, and soon the group was shooting back down toward the ground level. *************** "that... was too damn close," Caraway muttered breathlessly. Rowan and Oak lay on the ground nearby. The three of them and their GAOs had been no match for whatever the hell had attacked them, it was a miracle they'd been able to escape, but Caraway couldn't help but think about what it had cost them... There was no other way... Clemont said Telepathically, startling Caraway as he sent the thought directly into his mind. Caraway refused to believe that, however. The fight had gone down hill after that thing's eyes had taken on a weird Violet hue, They'd figured out quickly that they would never last against it. and so Rowan, Oak, and Himself had tried to Recall their GAOs and get out of there, except there'd been one problem... The Recall Function wouldn't work properly. it would just sputter out as soon it made contact. And just when they thought they were all screwed, for some reason Carraway's partner had blown some strange gust of wind at Clemont, which had sent him flying back through the air towards the three of them, and as soon as Clemont had collided with them, they had all teleported here... wherever the hell 'here' was... and their partners, well, only his and Rowan's, had been left behind. They both demanded that I leave them there and save the three of you. Clemont continued. I didn't want to simply leave them behind either, but they wouldn't be persuaded otherwise. So We concocted a plan; You Partner, Splinte, broke the effect that kept me trapped in combat, and sent me flying towards you as a result. as soon as I was close enough, I carried out my part- "And got us out of there," Caraway interrupted. He felt a type of sadness, him and his Skarmory, Splinte, he named him, had been Partnered together since he'd been reassigned to the GAOWP, and the thought that he might not see it alive again was drumming in the back of his mind, driving up his already many worries, one of which being that a Traitor had escaped and was no where to be found. "Where are we?" he asked suddenly. What was done was done now, there's no way to undo the past. Caraway knew this, and he forced himself to push Splinte to the back of his mind and focus on the current situation. Clemont responded in his mind nearly immediately. In a Linens closet on the ground floor, connected to the Medical Wing. the door is over there. Clemont didn't have to point, he simply sent a mental nudge into Caraway's mind to look in that direction. a moment later the soldier walked over Oak and Rowan, still on the floor, though they were beginning to come around, and tried the handle. it was locked at first, but a teal hue engulfed the brass handle and a moment later the door swung open, revealing the Medical Ward and the many Soldiers assembled their, all of them listening to some speech the General was giving and applauding and whistling and cheering when he was done. Behind him he could spot Surge and a few Cadets, apparently this whole gathering had something to do with them. ***************** Time: 11:34 AM Location: Conference room 2A, Command Central, Fort Bexley, USA "And that finishes my Report, Sir," Surge said, sitting back down at his spot at the table. after the General had lead them back to the Ward and delivered the news that the Bird was dead, he'd collected Lionel and Dr.Ray and had then stolen the Squad away from the celebrations that were breaking out and taken them directly to a Conference room for Surge to file his Mission report, they'd left so fast that They hadn't even noticed Enyo approaching them, and she had had to catch them in the corridor. and Oak and Rowan had popped in shortly after that and had explained what had happened to them to the entire group (and had been a bit too excited about it, honestly...) "Very well then," McCarthy said. "Professor, Unveil the new development." Oak said nothing as he stood and proceeded to the front of the long rectangular table, Clemont at his side. he held out his right palm, and a steel tray of red and white Capsules appeared in his hand with a flash of white light. they looked exactly the same as any other Capsules. "You all may be unaware of this," He began. "But up until now, there was a very complicated process of sealing a GAO within a Capsule. it required tranquilizing it and then running it through a massive machine, which was almost always much easier said than done. But now... that may no longer be the case." he picked up one of the capsules in his hand And tapped the button in the center of the ping-pong sized device. a second later, it was the size of a soft ball. "You all know by now that Capsules can be shrunk down by tapping the trigger," he continued. "so I won't bother explaining that. Up until now, it was Impossible to Capture a GAO directly with a Capsule, but as of now, that is no longer an issue." his eyes then scanned the room, falling on each of the Squad members but not lingering on them for more than a few seconds. that is, until he got to Erick. "Erick," he said, addressing the young man out of the blue "Sent out your Beldom." He complied without a word, reaching to his belt and pulling out the ball, bringing it to full size in his palm before holding down the trigger, causing the Sphere to split into two and hinge open, a burst of white light erupting from it. His GAO simply floated in the air, shifting it's single scarlet eye to look around the room at everything. "Good!" Oak shouted as he reeled his arm back and threw the capsule in his hand. it hurtled towards Erick's beldum, only for the GAO to turn around, suddenly aware of what it assumed to be an attack. the Claws on the bottom of it's body took on a metallic glow without Erick ordering it, and it swiped it's entire cylindrical form through the air as the Sphere closed in, knocking it of it's course and sending it hurtling towards Clemont now. It landed atop the Foxman's head and bounced off, opening up a second later, a stream of white light pouring out of it and engulfing him. within seconds, Clemont was broken down into an energy form and reeled into the center of the capsule, at which point it promptly snapped shut and fell to the floor. Oak just stood there speechless, scratching his head. "that... that did not go as planned..." he finally managed to say. just then the Trigger of the Sphere glowed with an intense dark blue, and the capsule burst open in another eruption of White light, producing Clemont once more. Surprisingly, the hyper-intelligent GAO didn't seem the least bit angered by what had just occured. Erick still apologized for his Beldum's actions though. "Well..." Oak began, continuing the discussion. "as you can see, these new model of Containment Capsules are quite capable of direct capture. We had already planed to take them out and further test them later on in the day... but then the attack happened. And well...you all saved the base, so, you'll have the honor of being the group to field test them." as soon as the sentence left his mouth, a cart full of Capsules appeared behind him. it was becoming obvious that Clemont was teleporting objects into the room as they were needed. without Oak having to say anything, The Alakazam used telekinesis and picked up three Minimized capsules at a time from the cart, hovering each set over to a member of the squad around the table. When the spheres had all been handed out, both the tray still in Oak's hand and the cart behind him disappeared once again. "If there are no questions," Rowen said, picking up the explanation. "then I do believe this meeting is adjoined." "that it is." Agreed McCarthy. "you're dismissed. but meet at the Western side Gate in ten minutes to begin the Capsule testing. you all should know where it is." with that, him, Surge,Ray, Rowan, and Oak all got up and left the conference room, soon disappearing in various directions down the corridor, leaving the Squad alone in the chamber.

I once had a black belt in taekwon do... but that was several years ago and I'm out of practice and quite certain my fighting skill has diminished considerably since then... hell, my greatest strengths right now are probably only a Rampant Ambition, Determination, and a set of people skills which are virtually non-existent unless i have to speak in front of public (You'd be surprise how easy it can be to win the entire crowd over to your favor...), and my ambition... wait, did I already put that? good. just making it known. anyways, it's pretty much impossible for someone to be a Mary Sue IRL. You may have all those strengthes going, but trust me, You've got more than enough weaknesses and flaws as a person to make up for them, and there are a few I can spot right now, off the top of my head.... that's how it works in this world, if you get a strength, you also get a weakness to balance it out automatically, even if you don't know you do.

Under The Hill [OOC/Sign-Ups]
Sutoratosu replied to Notus's topic in Unofficial Official RP Club's General
And so it was that Hukuna the Great stepped in and reminded the young upstarts about what truly matters when playing a character in the RP: that a character is not the sum of their powers, but rather the sum of what lies in their heart. And the blindness was lifted from their eyes. and it was good. Hukuna's right, enough of this glorified pissing contest about who's the strongest. what really matters at the end of the day is that a character's abilities are simply an extension of them, and not the other way around.- 1735 replies

"We might as well head back down to the Medical wing." Surge said, answering Lars's rather offhanded question, all the while ignoring Sid's little outburst. he then paused for a moment, debating whether or not he'd go into detail; the reason they would head to the med ward would be because a squad member was still down there in a coma... Yes, he'd refrained from speaking about it earlier on, but that was solely because their was a crucial mission looming over them. He knew from past experience to not burden team members with emotional baggage that might preoccupy their minds during an operation. But still, these Cadets, no, excuse him, these Soldiers had been training and living together for six months now. anyone of them should've noticed at some point that one of their team members was missing. they could try to use their focusing on the fight as an excuse, but this entire mission hadn't been made up solely of heated combat; it had actually been a bit of a long jog from the Medical Wings to the Elevator to the roof. He had to admit, he was more than a little disappointed, and worried, that they apparently had all failed to make that observation, one that would've been absolutely crucial for them to notice if they'd actually been out in the field, and not on base, where the chance of someone being captured and turned into POW or tortured or interrogated by an Enemy was not as existent. Yes, while it was technically true that the US was not currently at war, and had not been for a good thirty years or so, that didn't matter to Surge, his job as a Sergeant and the leader of his Squadron was to think about how the team would preform if war did break out and they were sent off to fight for their country. "I-" he began, about to voice these concerns, but he stopped himself short. Maybe he'd been too hasty in thinking that none of them had noticed Greyjoy's absence... some of them, and by some he specifically thought of a few in particular, like Erick or maybe Logan, had actually taken note of it and had chosen not to say anything at the time, perhaps even thinking that Surge himself most certainly already knew of the missing soldier, yet had a good reason for not saying anything about it; perhaps someone here had noticed and had decided to simply trust in Surge's reasons and withheld the information that he himself had. there's one way to find out... Surge thought to himself as he bellowed out. "Fox 1, About Face!" Instantly the squad of young soldiers obeyed, each of them silent and at Attention within an instant, Even Sid, who had stopped his little victory celebration and now stood facing Surge at Attention, quieter than Surge had ever heard him. "Fox 1," he Continued on, beginning to pace back and forth with his hands tucked behind his back, in true Drill Sergeant fashion "There are 11 individuals in total in this Squadron. Now, I want you to answer this, aside from Lionel, who went to the Med Ward in order to have his Partner's wounds tended, are there any members of this team who are currently absent. Do not look around at each other, do not try to get a count, just answer the question." As soon as he was done speaking, Erick spoke up, not to any surprise of Surge, however. Erick was the son of soldier afterall, so of course his father would've instilled the concepts of the value of working together and being observant from an early age. noticing that someone was missing was probably something he did subconsciously by now, without having to give any real thought to it or taking a head count. "Enyo Greyjoy is the only one currently Absent aside from Lionel." he said simply "In addition, sir, she also was absent when we were arming ourselves for the mission, as well as when we were proceeding to the objective location." "You are correct, Freeman," Surge Replied in a flat voice, devoid of either approval of disapproval. "Now, answer me this, Why is it that you noticed her absence from early on in this operation, yet chose to refrain from speaking about the matter?" Erick had nothing that would be nice to answer that question with. What, was he really the only one who'd noticed? Was Surge really ignorant of the fact that Enyo was missing until a few moments ago? if he was, it was damned pathetic in Erick's opinion, it was Surge's squadron, he was the CO, not Erick. being able to tell whether or not someone was missing was a basic job skill someone of Surge's rank and responsibilities should have already had. but you know what? it was fine. Maybe surge was doing this to try and start tension between Erick and few of the others on the team, he'd done several times already during the past six months, but always it had been more subtle than this. Fine Erick thought to himself I won't bullshit the reason then, I'll tell them why I didn't say anything... "Well, sir..." he finally Answered "I noticed that she was missing, and thought that Surely if I had made this observation then you would've done the same long before I did. So it was that as the Mission went on and you did not bring up the matter to the team, I trusted that you had some legitimate, Crucial reason for not doing so, and I in turn refrained myself from bringing the matter up." he stopped himself at that. he had wanted to add in the comment 'Was I wrong in that trust, sir?' in order to save time and put Surge right on the spot if this was indeed another tension building exercise; However, it wouldn't do to speak so obviously out of line with the General standing right beside him... and what he had said would be more than enough to put Surge on the spot anyway. he'd probably just go ahead and say that Erick was exactly right, try to save himself from being humiliated in front of his Squad. but Erick would know if he was lying or not when he said it, and he would know whether or not Surge was feeling Foolish or humiliated by the failed attempt, which only the two of them would even know had been one. and so long as he knew that he'd made Surge feel like a fool, so long as he noticed the pause or the way he squinted his brow that would mean he was taken off guard by the answer, then Erick would be perfectly happy with that. "You're absolutely right, Freeman," Surge answered instantly Of course you're gong to lie about it to try to save yourself from having to admit your wrong... Erick thought to himself as Surge spoke, only noticing a few seconds later how fast the answer had come from him. Looks like he had misread the situation; Surge hadn't been trying anything when he'd asked him that direct and pointed question moments ago. maybe it was time Erick start putting a little more trust in the Sergeant... "Now then," surge continued on, turning his attention to the rest of the Squad as Erick pondered "By show of hands, how many of you also noticed Greyjoy's abscence?"

"Peace among men living alongside one another is not a natural state. on the contrary, the natural state of man is that of war. War manifested not only by open hostilities, but also by the constant threat of hostility. Peace, there fore, is a state that must be established by law." - Immanuel Kant, "Perpetual Peace", chapter 2 This is hell, typlohsion. it doesn't exactly bring out the warm and fuzzy sides of people. Bickering is only the first step along the long road to open hostilities. (Though in america, that might not be the case, seeing as how Our congress argues day and night and is completely worthless, yet we're still waiting around for our second civil war to begin...) We must determine the strongest now so that we do not have to when war finally breaks out among us and we all turn on each other, driven by the greed all men hold within the depths of their heart. we must do it now so that we know who to eliminate or ally ourselves to first when the time for anarchy comes. And so it is that this attempt to survive future hostility will only lead to further initiate the very hostility we seek to survive; For the natural state of man is war... but still, you have a point. Typhlo, everyone has their own strengths and weaknesses. and now...- 1735 replies

just a note on that list, I'm fairly certain Kenny didn't assemble it based purely on who would do the most extreme amounts of damage in combat, Versatility of the characters power is probably also a large factor. so yeah, maybe in theory Marcus would be the most dangerous individual to face in combat (After he kills enough people... to reach, like, the level of a Greek Demigod of myth.) but for now I think it's safe to say that due to both the sizable threat in combat he can pose, and the potential versatility of his invoking power, Ethic is the strongest at this point... and I've probably got more tricks up my sleeve for my character's ability than any one else here...- 1735 replies

You can't stand against the hands of fate. and you sure as hell can't stand against the one who has them bound to his will. Pfft...
