Is Pokemon really that bad?
Sutoratosu replied to Absol-lutelty awesome!'s topic in General Discussion
no, it's not that bad. But they so damn incompetent that it's far easier for their tiny little minds to bash and try to start a witch hunt over a child's game instead of actually going after cases of AC that occur in reality daily. Deforestation in south america and parts of asia? nope, they'd rather bash Pokemon. Poaching of elephants, rhinos, and various other animals in Africa? Again, they'd rather bash pokemon. The fact of the matter is, they're completely useless when it comes to accomplishing the actual goal that their name implies. They're like rabid dogs really, foaming at the mouth and Lashing out at anything they see. And we all know that there is but one thing that can be done for Rabid dogs... -
can you be little more specific, i just searched all through route one and the woods and found nothing

the Staraptor is Female then, and don't worry, Ethic will have Plenty of Flaws that more than balance out his traits, The close combat skills are just part of his backstory of having a military father. I'll take out Telepathy, and reduce the magnitude of his accomplishments to make them more likely to actually happen

welp, lets break that stagnation, shall we? might as well jump in here and introduce Ethic. Here goes... something. Ethic climbed down from the lofty perch he had taken in a tree, where he'd spent several hours since morning watching Nova and Politician engage in a mock battle in the forest clearing below. Despite the size advantage that Politician had, the two were pretty evenly matched, and Ethic estimated that Nova had gone up around three levels, and Politician by two. As he descended to the forest floor, Nova ran up to him, still full of energy despite several hours of hard training. "did we do well, master?" Nova asked with a thought. Just one of the unusual things about Ethic, ever since he was little, he could communicate with Pokemon through telepathy that ability was part of how he became among the top trainers in the world before Arriving at the academy yesterday evening, he had already beaten the leagues of Hoen, Johto, and his own home region of Cryos twice, each time refusing to accept the position as the new champion. Then a week ago his mother sat him down during his visit back home and talked to him about the family lineage, and explained the poke people. He was around 1/4 pokeperson, and his mother told him that one of the things in his late father's will was for him to attend the academy, and so here he stood. "yeah, you did well." Ethic thought back. "would My father have been proud?" Nova asked eagerly, her Father was a shiny Arcanine nicknamed Salaam, and had been the strongest of Ethic's team back when he went around Champion stomping. "I think he would've, but You still got a long way to go." Nova danced around the clearing happily at that. Ethic checked his watch and realized how much time had passed, it was almost dusk; Emerald had told him to return by noon when he Asked her to cut the introduction classes that day, it was all just stuff he'd learned back in trainer's school years ago. "you're going to make her wrath worse if you linger here, Ethic" Politician spoke up for the first time, already he was slivering back in the direction they'd came from that morning. "come, on" Ethic thought back, "The rumors can't all be true." Politician turned to face him. "I could sense the cold heartedness flowing of that women in waves." Ethic was about to reply when he heard a stirring on the other side of the clearing. He turned and saw two men entering the clearing, they were both wearing a strange robed outfit, and had a black S emblazoned on their shoulders. The men were in a conversation and looked to be completely oblivious to Ethic and his partners. "I told you that we were lost." said one man "Shut up." said the other "We wouldn't be lost if you hadn't woken up late and caused us to miss the rest of the Squads deployment" "Ho there, strangers." Ethic said. He could tell these men would be trouble, no one would dress in such ridiculous outfits if they were in their right mind. the two men stopped their arguing and finally noticed him, with a look that confirmed that Trouble was about to go down. "you know," said one man, beginning to slowly circle Ethic like a Luxray stalking it's prey. "I think we've found ourselves a shot at redemption." "That we have." Ethic was so focused on the man circling him that he didn't notice the other one until his hand gripped his shoulder from behind. "Hand over your balls!" said the man. "sorry, they'll be kinda hard to do, if you know what I mean." Ethic heard a click, and felt the blade of a knife poke into his back." get your mind out of the gutter, you know what we want." the man replied. he noticed that the man circling him reach for something and thought it would be a pokeball, but lo and behold, he pulled out a handgun instead. "shall we tear apart these bastards for you, Ethic?" Politician asked, he and Nova now sat watching from the treeline "Take out the one with the gun, I'll handle the goon behind me." Ethic ordered. A moment later Ethic heard a startled yelp and several gunshots, that was his cue. While the man holding a knife to his back turned to look at what happened to his friend, Ethic whirled around and grabbed hold of the man's wrist, and in one smooth motion, shattered it and swated the knife into the forest. He threw the man to the ground and pinned down with his knee on his neck. He looked up and saw the Politician had used constrict on the other goon with Nova snarling beside him, the gun was nowhere to be seen. for the split second that he shifted his attention, the man under him broke free and stumbled to the trees, Ethic let him get away and then ordered for Politician and Nova to do the same with their captive. The second fled in the same direction as his partner. He turned and stoped at the Treeline "F*** you." he said. Ethic just laughed at this pathetic attempt to regain some power over the situation, then quite verbally ordered Nova to use flamethrower. The hot flames licking at the Air was enough to scare the Second man off. Ethic noticed that one of them had dropped a greatball on the Ground in their escape. He kneeled down and picked it up. "What have we here?" Ethic tapped the seal on the ball, a Staraptor emerged in a blaze of light. The creature attacked Ethic as soon as it regained it's vision from it's stasis inside the ball, Buffeting and attempting to slash at him with it's talons. Politician unleashed an iron tail attack that connected solidly with the right wing. the Wounded Staraptor fell to the ground and fitted about for a while, throwing up dust and dirt, after a while it calmed and just lay there. Ethic took a moment and noticed the scars marking the Staraptor's face and back; the scars weren't consistent with those that would be acquired in fierce battle, Ethic knew what those looked like from past experience, no, these scars were from abuse and neglect. "hey there," Ethic thought soothingly, the Staraptor didn't move, but still looked at him with rage and fear in it's eyes "it's all right now, no ones going to hurt you anymore." "except for me," Politician broke into the mental conversation "if, that is, You ever come at my Master again." "Quit." Ethic scolded. he tried a few more attempts to communicate with Staraptor, but it refused to participate. Finally he stood up and pondered whether he should just smash the great ball and let it go free into the wild. Then his fathers voice rang through his head, a lesson from years ago "Ethic, never release an abused Pokemon directly into the wild, it'll just become a danger to everyone in the area, including those pokemon that live there." that left him with only one choice. Ethic gripped the great ball and activated the return function, then watched as Staraptor became engulfed in a red glow and dissapeared, and tucked the ball into his jacket pocket. He did the same with the poke balls of Nova and Politician, then started back towards the academy, it was now night. "At least now," he said to himself in the darkness, "I have a legit excuse for being out so late." (Ethic's current team: Nova(Growlithe F lvl23), Politician(Seviper M lvl22), Staraptor ? lvl??)

"if you're going to tie me up, at least ask for my saftey word."- Cain "Im going to pretend that i didn't catch that"- Radomus

Actually, I think radomus' difficulty was decreased because of the addition of Field effects. I kept getting stonewalled by his lvl65 Gardevoir in episode 10 & 10.5, but beat him on the first try with the exact same team (both his and mine) in episode 11. It'll probably be a lot easier if you learn how to exploit fit your strategy to take advantage of the field effects oh, and also, Radomus will now fight in doubles, like serra before episode 10.5 and 11

It took me a little while to find her (got lost at the last part of the crystal puzzle) Managed to bash down half her team with my Swampert, Scraggy, and Gardevoir, but then we got stonewalled and took a fall. But then again, my highest level team member is a good five levels below the lvl cap, so...

it's partialy that, but my point is, its really seems like a huge contradiction in the lore around them. when I was little, I really didn't think much about, I just saw it as getting a powerhouse for next to nothing, then one day a few years ago, I started thinking, "wait a second, why the hell are we able to catch them if they're so important to the continued functioning of the world?" I mean, its just fine to catch a minor one like mew, mewtwo, genesect, keldeo or celebi, because compared to their superiors, they're absence wouldn't really cause an adverse reaction in the world. let's take palkia or dialga for example. their legends say that they're tasked with governing over the laws of space and time, respectively. so you'd think that It would be impossible to capture these super powered beings due to their vast might, but lo and behold, that thought process is proven wrong. For lack of a better analogy, let's look at this like Greek mythology, and what better than the story of Persephone's abduction the summary is: When Persephone was abducted by the greek god hades, her mother demeter, a greek goddess of agriculture, grew so distruaght that she began to search the world day and night trying to find her kidnapped daughter, during this period of searching, she ultimately neglects the Earth's plantlife and it eventualy wilts and dies. famine sets in quickly, and people begin praying for help. Zues eventually answers their pleas and forces Hades to return Persephone to her mothers side, though on the condition that she must spend a third of the year with hades due to her consumption of cursed pomegranate seeds grown in the soil of the underworld. the basic point of the story is, when something of great power is disturbed or otherwise interfered with, the whole planet could suffer the consequences. the Greek god Demeter herself might not of gone missing in the story, but something so urgent grabbed her attention that she was lead away by it from her duties to the earth, and the earth suffered in her absence. now lets place palkia/dialga in demeter's place. it doesn't really matter what causes them to dissapaer from their duties, just that they do. without the goverence of palkia, the laws of space go haywire and begin to spin out of control, the very laws of physics themsleves begin to fall apart. without dialga, worst case scenrio, all time stops permenantly, which is basically the end of the world since there's no concept of a "future". but more likely, the same thing that happens the laws of space without palkia, chaos and insanity. the time stream starts to bend and merge in on itself, past events take place again in the present, a literral repeating of history. hell, we might even get to see this supposed "kanto war" that LT.surge rambles on about. it's simple logic though.

seeing as how the old one is pretty much dead at this point, might as well just continue with this this will sound Ironic, but any major legendary Pokemon that can be captured I mean, first of all, that's honestly just too much raw power to be in one person's hands in the first place, as can be proven at the climax of every canon pokemon game made to date, with the exception of black and white (and to those who might argue this statement is invalid due to the fact that the game is set up so that the player themselves can capture a legendary, do remember that in all the games except black and white, the outcome of the legendary encounter really doesn't matter, the player catching it isn't nessacarilly canon, nothing in the story will change based on whether you K.O. it or catch it, in fact, after the event, almost no one will even so much as mention what transpired for the rest of the game.) secondly, when you think about it a little, it really doesn't make any sense why one would be able to capture them. most, if not all of the major legendaries has some role or part in governing the workings of the natural enviroment (or that of reality itself in the case of the Arceus quintuplet) so logically, capturing them and keeping them confined to something like a pokeball would cause what ever aspect of the world they watched over to fall into chaos, if not threaten to destroy the world itself, so for me, It really seems like it would be a humanitarian effort to not try and bag one of them. (don't even try to spout that the "Arceus duplication theory" because thats complete and total horseshit. where Power of great magnitude is concerned, there can always only be one. Nature made that rule, not me.)

What's your opinion on grinding in reborn?
Sutoratosu replied to wowireallylovesweaters's topic in Reborn City
in reborn, I don't really see it as an issue. thats probably because of my note taking on what Pokemon have the highest exp yield, and the fact that I tend to get personal with my team. every long-term member is either given a nickname upon recruitment or when their potential becomes apparent. I see it as a coach training his players to their full potential, and then utilizing their abilities and talents appropriately. I can stand the grinding because I don't count for EV's, I don't look for certain natures, and I don't breed for special moves. I get to know and understand my Pokes; I treat them like individuals instead of mindless drones. -
Lapis I simply cant can't abandon my hoomies in the Aqua gang, without me around, there's no racial diversity.

I didn't push his ass into the acidic waters of shitbrown Azurine lake when I first met him. that is what I did for Fern. and quite honestly, I believe that to be my single greatest mistake in reborn and lets not forget, every single person you team up with does the same thing for you, so I don't really see why we should give Fern props for that.

only in America! It really varies from demographic to demographic. It would be too broad and presumptuous to say humanity as a whole is becoming more apathetic.

think it's safe to say there will be no survivors probably just gonna throw out a bunch of arcei with max ev's every stat, 999 hp, the ability wonder guard, with 99PP judgement, oh, and also holding choice Specs

Hell no, would have to be at least $90,000,000,000, and even then, its almost not worth the turmoil it's sure to cause. you have to power to see turning points in time where ever you go at will. in said turning points, several possible futures are shown, in the order of most likely being shown first and least last. by manipulating certain factors in the surrounding area, you can alter or even create an entirely new future outcome. But each time you manipulate the future, you are taken to a random traumatic/ tragic event in the past, and will experience said event in the body of a person who was present and suffered because of it. it could be anything from a person's murder, being a POW, the black plague, the Concentration Camps, the aftermath of hiroshima and nagasaki, the fall of the twin towers, etc.

no. you are given the ability to freely travel backwards and forwards in the time stream on the conditions of no physical interference and no disclosure of knowledge of future events. But. every time you use this ability, you must streak in a highly populated area immediately after returning to your own time
