Been thinking Opinions on Sex vs Violence or Both
Sutoratosu replied to James-Sensei's topic in General Discussion
its a complete and total double standard. it comes down to this, it doesn't matter which is more harmful, because both of them is an act that human beings have evolved to do. firstly, without sex, there's no reproduction, without reproduction, there's no human race. ergo, no sex= no humans while it's a good idea to keep such topics from the ears of children due to them not being able to understand it at their age, it cant be put in the closet forever, as they come of age, eventually people will have to be educated about it, given information on the subject and then told: "you've been taught all there is to know on it, what you do with this knowledge and whether or not you heed the advice of those who came before you is entirely on your head. Just know that no matter what happens, we will not be there to deal with the consequences of your actions for you." Something that the schools are trying to do, but obviously failing at, as someone already posted before me "teen pregnancy rates are through the roof " despite the fact that most of sex ed occurs during the high school years. Secondly, Violence is an evolutionary trait inherent in every creature on earth, while mostly only ever witnessed in predatory creatures, herbivores such as rams have been seen partaking in the act as well. it's all because of natural selection: the specimen most fit to survive in the situation, be it because of superior camouflage, thicker hide, better eyesight, or in our case, higher intelligence levels, will be given the most opportunities to reproduce and pass the favorable trait on to future generations, while those unfit are singled out and destroyed through various means. the first stone tools developed by man were for violence, self-defense from predatory organisms, but violence nevertheless. over time we switched from defending ourselves from the predators atop the food chain, to being the top predators. And why? because with our superior intellect, we became more adept at violence than any species that we have known to walk the Earth, taking it from a brutal product of nature and turning it into an exact and horrifying science. Once we had the animal kingdom properly subdued, who was left for us to turn our talent for death dealing on? the answer is: each other. as time passes and agriculture is developed, people abandon the nomadic hunter gather life for life in villages and small settlements and communities. it is during this era that man first discovers the concept of loyalties and conflicting interest. and conflicting interest begets violence. say two farmers from different villages are trying to hold trade, farmer A wishes for wheat seeds, but farmer B refuses to give it to them and offers another crop seed instead. now Farmer A can either: 1) go off and search for wild growing wheat since Farmer B reused him. 2) take Farmers B other offer instead. or 3) forcefully take farmer B's seeds as well as his life. due to evolution hard wiring the human brain to kill in order to survive, Farmer A is far more likely to chose option 3. which is where the concept of loyalties comes up. people from farmer B's village discover the body. the village is united in its outrage at the killing one of the members of the community, and sets to prepare for mass retaliation on Farmer A's village. what follows is the discovery of the concept of Warfare, collective mass violence on others not out of survival, but due to feeling wronged in some way by the opposition. this concept goes on to shape the rest on human history up to even our own time. And so it was that the poster-child of violence is born: it's name war, and it's sustenance death and suffering. and as time marched on away from the early days of humans, eventually our rise above any other creature that could threaten our dominance over the planet was complete. which posed an unforeseen problem: how would natural selection carry out it's work with man if there was no potential predators? viruses and pathogens? maybe, but history has shown that natural selection never settles to use the pen of disease to get the job done, when the blade of carnage and bloodshed is available. but mankind, being the simple geniuses we were, came up with the answer almost immediately without even thinking: "we shall do what no other species has ever done. we shall become our own predators." thus warfare became a perpetual thing for man, unable to discard it because it was now as attached to us as an arm or a leg. with this method, NS now worked on a mass scale rather than an individual one. now it was which ever nation was most fit to exist was given more and more opportunities to prosper and grow(eventually collapsing under their own weight however). this is the world cycle that history has followed. whether or not we cast it out remains to be seen. that's how we return to the present argument: which is more harmful, sex or violence? read the evidence and logic ive provided above, and come up with your own oppinion and answers. but heres mine: it doesn't matter two shits which of them is more harmful, they both exist because at some point, people decide to commit one or the other and just not care of the consequences. trying to catergorize them based on level of potential harm is like trying to ask "which is a more pleasant way to expire, Burning to death or freezing to death?" in which case, it doesn't matter, because, no matter the scenario, you're still dead at the end. in other words, the answer doesn't matter. as to why sex is more censored than violence is because we are all utter slaves to the latter. we must make oursleves aware of it at all times, so that we may carry out NS's job. this is why there are so many movies, tv shows videogames and books that glorify violence. whether we know it or not, subconsciously, our minds worship the concept, and that results in our society doing the smae unknowwingly. thats just my two cents, take it with a grain of salt, or don't. -
yes, for just the chance to kick Gary Oak straight in the crouch. How about: You are a famous international war hero beloved by all of humanity for your deed of vanquishing an alien race that was attempting to colonize the Earth. many worship you as a savior. materialistically speaking, you could have anything you wanted. But. for political reasons, You are forbidden from ever returning to the Earth. there are several humanly habitable alien colony worlds now devoid of their former occupants, in effect you are free to relativistically travel the rest of the galaxy at your leisure, but never will you be able to go home to the planet you sacrificed so much and fought so hard for.

no. wanna at least keep the option open. You can time travel to one point in history and intervene in or stop any tragic event, be it the crusades, the Civil War of any country, or the Holocaust But. You will be stuck in that time, doomed to live in mediocrity and mundaness due to all evidence proving your involvement in the event will vanish, no one but you will remember your actions, ergo, you can never take credit and be honored for your Heroic Deed.

Your favorite/least favorite champion?
Sutoratosu replied to Chevaleresse's topic in Pokémon Fan Club
I like Steven partially because he was the first champion i ever fought, but mostly because he was one of only two champions who actually toke an active role (it was a smaller role than cynthia took, but at least he did something about the crisis) in combating the criminal organization that was threatening to disrupt the peace of their region( while lance eventually made a stand after the Rockets were resurrected, I don't include him becuase in the Kanto series, he had numerous opportunities as Champion (prior to Blue/Gary defeating him) to oppose Giovanni and his goons the first time, yet did nothing) and possibly destroy world at large(I mean, come on, magma, aqua, galactic? magma and aqua's plots were just poorly thought through, flooding the land masses or shining the earth in eternal sunlight? Yeah, that's gonna work out just great in the end. Galatic's plot had a little more logic put into it's development, not a lot though. you capture the overseer's of space and time and keep them locked away in a masterball to do your bidding, what makes you think they'll be able to do their actual jobs of holding reality together?) where areas all the others just apparently sit around on their asses and do nothing about it despite having more than sufficient power.(an issue shared with the Elite four members, but that's a discussion for another thread...) My least favorite is Blue. And for only one reason. Like his anime and FR/LG alter-ego Gary, He's a complete and total Douche bag throughout the entire game. every time I see the bastard, i want nothing more than to have Red be able to run up to him and give him a few swift kicks to the croutch to ensure he is removed from the Gene-pool, and that future generations don't have to deal with obnoxious little Gary Oaks. -
no You can spontaneously generate one Item you most desire once. But. The Item will be cursed with a moderate amount of misfortune, and you can't get rid of it with impunity; Attempting to give it away will result in the deaths of all those whom you care about, in the order of the person you have the most affection for to the least. any new people you begin to care for will also be included.

Area: Subterranus city Type: Ground Name: Sky Slayer Stratos Core Badge TM: EarthQuake Gym: Ruins of the Sky The ruins of what was once the Sky Pillar, they now serve as a underground fortress in case Raquayza ever decides to go berserk again and causes another murderous rampage, coincidentally, the leader is the same man who defeated rayquaza with the help of groudon ten years prior. Set- up: the challenger can not leave once they have entered. the only available way for them to get to the leader is to fall through the holes in the floor and proceed through the next level, if they chose the wrong hole, they'll be stuck at a dead-end corridoor, the only way out of which is to press a button on the wall which will summon a guard with a single lvl.100 ground type to battle the trainer. should the trainer lose, they will have half the funds taken as well as any hold items on their Pokemon. upon reentering the gym, the passage they chose previously will be closed off the prevent making the same wrong choice twice. however, should they happen to somehow defeat the guardsmen, they will rewarded with twice their funds and be taken directly to the gym leader with their Pokemon healed. upon the gym leaders defeat, they will give the challenger access to the personnel corridors, allowing them to either leave the gym or continue on to a exit somewhere inside victory road. Team: Gliscor Ability: Poison Heal Item: Toxic Orb Move Pool: Sky Attack Earthquake Facade Stone Edge Swampert Ability: Torrent Item: Kings Rock Move Pool: Hydro Cannon Icebeam Earth power Hidden Power (electric) Steelix Ability: Sheer Force Item: Soft Sand Move Pool: Doom Desire Earthquake Tri Attack Explosion Mega Garchomp (if the challenger has any legendary pokemon in their party, mega garchomp will be swaped out for a shiny groudon ten levels above the opposing teams highest level.) i was gonna say unknown. but, after seeing goodra... this... this is just an insult to every person who has ever raised a dragon-type. i mean sure, there are some other dragons who look a tad bit on the soft-side, like dragonite or maybe even flygon, but this? this goes too far gamefreak. this, this thing looks like a cross between a snake, the Greek deity Pan, and a God-damn lepercon. why, why would they do this... how are we dragon lovers supposed to make our foes go "Oh, shit, I am screwed." when we throw this half-ass design job onto the battlefeild. You were doing so well on dragon designs too, what with palkia, dialga, giratina, raquayza, kyurem, haxorus and especially garchomp. I thought you were gonna keep churning out peices of badd-assery, but, I see now, just how wrong I was.

the issue with religion isn't necessarily the doctrine in itself, it's the institutions, and specifically, it's the need of the leaders of the religious institutions to try and exert full control over their followers. it's a matter of power and supremecy, thats how its been throughout the history of religion in this world, and thats who it is now. people tend to overlook the religion entirely, and form loyalties to the institutional leaders, which works entirely to their plans. when they see that the people are waning in their loyalty, when their hold on power is threatened, they pass new and often times ridiculous regulations and doctrines in order to further bind their followers to them than their blindfaith already does. thats who we ended up with the various conflicting dogmas of the christian faith that are, and have been for many years, helping to run this country into the ground. the U.S. is supposed to have seperation of church and state. this is an absolute farce; just look at the incompetent officials in congress. half of them think with their bibles first and logic never. we have obviously failed in ensuring that the goverment make laws and decisions based on logical thought processes and good fore-sight. and the worst part, alot of people either don't see this or simply turn from the truth. let's face it, if religious thought is continued to intermingle with government affairs, it will ruin this country. maybe not in this generation, maybe not the next generation or even the one after that, but it will someday. and it is to ensure that my homeland does not fall to something so trivial and preventable as religious conflict, that future generations don't have to live in a post-Dogma war world, ruled by a church head who is just a glorified dictator, that i will gladly take up armaments and fight to restore order. however, at the same time, religion shouldn't be abolished, it's been responsible for many evils throughout history, but also for a lot of good, sometimes when you look at the crap that it's caused, it's easy to overlook that fact. people should just learn to use logic when it's needed and to be tolerant of other's faith. I hope for a day where there are no such things as borders or "Dogma wars" (wars or large scale conflict caused by disagreement in religious philosophy) a world where people of all nationalities, faith, and ethnicity can sit down with one another and solve the issues of the world, without harsh, presumptuous judgements that always serve to destroy peace and breed conflict. whether such a world can be remains to be seen. let's leave it like this: Religion is like a gun. It is ok to have one. it is ok to be proud of it, but please, don't always resort to it as the first means of self defense, don't whip it out in public and use it to force other people to do what you want. don't take it out and start firing at crowds of people, and please, don't try to force it down the throats of children.

sniper scope- guarantees hit, but lowers the users evasion by 2 levels overdrive- when held, allows for OHKO moves to effect pokemon with sturdy, or who are wearing focus band, also powers up not-very effective moves. wrym bane- the holder is not effected by dragon type moves, and also scores a super-effective hit whenever using physical moves on a dragon type. Sphere of Arceus- all attack moves are now not-very effective against the holder, with dragon, psychic, normal, and ghost type moves not effecting it at all. also guarantees 100% accuracy rate when using OHKO moves, however, the move loses all pp after use. spear of destiny- a legendary spear. the holder gains a secondary type that is the same as it's hidden power type (ex. a metagross holding this that has a hidden type of ghost, will become a steel/ ghost type) and all stats are boosted by 20%. breaks if the holder is hit physically more than 5 times in a single battle. spear of destiny (broken)- the remains of what was a legendary spear. same basic effects as the spear of destiny, but now cannot break, and only raises stats by 5%. now for the main item... Soul Links- a taboo technology developed by researchers in the Silph corp. in secret. it comes in sets of two. use one on a Pokemon currently in battle, and the other on a pokemon waiting in your party. the pokemon in battle gains a permanent boost in stats equal to the stats of the other pokemon, the two pokemon's conscious minds will now be linked, and the first pokemon selected will be able to use moves known both by it, and the second pokemon (ex. a tyrannitar is in battle, you go into your bag, select the item, select tyranitar and an alakazam. tyranitar is now super-powered and can use any moves known by alakazam) however, this comes at the cost of the second pokemon dissapearing from your party- permanently.

so your one of the good guys in the world... I sense a comradary with you, just like I do with most people who end up as my friends. well, i can say I like you already. I think you'll get along with everyone here just fine. good luck in reborn. you'll need it from time to time -
no, because you'd have to take four turns to restore 200hp that way, giving the opponent time to wail on you a little more and maybe even beat you; disadvantage= you. whats the point of doing that if your foe can deal more damage each turn than you can restore? only one turn with a hyper potion, which basically sets you right back to square one in a battle; disadvantage= you, because with them not in shops, and the Pickup ability brocken in episode 10, you have no way of obtaining them, while the opponent obviously does. so you see, no matter how you veiw it, the odds are always stacked against you. in this game, there is no such thing as a player advantage, with the small exception of the human factor.
-
Chances are they've been made illegal by the Reborn government, and that everyone else, even gym leaders, are getting them from some contraband dealer that we don't know about. explains why they're not in shops...
-
i think I know a solution to that. if the engine used to make Reborn can host variables (ex. if the player has this item, this happens, if they have another item, this happens), then you could do this and make it so that the more badges you have, the more you'll be paid for the eggs (ex. 1 badge, you get 400$ per egg, 8 badges, you get 2000$ per egg) makes it so that you can't get too big of a gain too early on. If it can be done, I think that this is the best route.

If you were the developer of Pokémon Reborn
Sutoratosu replied to Gyaradoskiller's topic in Reborn City
...it would probably be an awkward ceremony, since cain is always spouting off sexuel references and innuendos that leaves everyone thinking "oh,wait, no way, you're kidding, he didn't just say what I think he did, did he?" now people, let's see who spots the lyrical reference in there... -
oh sorry, i see now that my idea would probably take a incredible amount of extra scripting. i'd offer my services just to see it done if I could, be sadly, I'm a total noob when it comes to things like game scripting. however, if the breeding program would take to long to create, could it be possible to make it so that we instead maybe sell eggs to the guy standing at the backdesk in the grand hall,(the one where you talk to him and the repopulation is mentioned) say for a solid rate 1000$ per egg, no rise or fall in price due to conditions.this would take a lot less coding. maybe make so that people can't access the offer until after a certain point, like maybe after the daycare couple is rescued. that way people can't start a lot of earning early on in the game.

If you were the developer of Pokémon Reborn
Sutoratosu replied to Gyaradoskiller's topic in Reborn City
if i were developer, id explain what makes Fern the way he is. i'd do it by making a series of events around the time of victory road and the league challenge, where that obnoxious little douche-bag named Fern loses something he cares about (I know, hard to think that the guy cares about anything but himself, though, seems o have a thing for dem grass-types ) featured would be several flash backs to Ferns past and childhood. this lose causes him to realize that he is in fact, a weak, insecure little man who tries to cover his flaws with an artificial swag-jockey persona, and that the only reason he rose to the top was in an effort to overcome his feeling of inferiority, an effort that failed in the end, as every time he encountered the player, he admired them for their strength and confidence, and so put on the Swag-jockey persona to try and out-do them, being beaten easily each time. after he has this epiphany, he apologizes to everyone for being a total prick, he then does something overly heroic, say, throwing himself in front of the player when solaris and his garchomp try to murder them. with his dieing breath, fern makes the player promise to win the league, and to defeat team meteor the player character becomes enraged, fights saloris, his son taka, and all the other meteor officers one last time, in a semingly hopless mutli battle. the player cannot lose however, as their righteous anger over Fern's death radiates off them and continously empowers their pokemon, raising their stats, restoring them to full health and curing all status ailments after each turn. id also make it so that the fight gets so intense, Solaris and Taka are killed in the cross fire, team meteor is disbanded by authorities, who arrest most of them, however, an officer mannages to escape alongside several grunts (paving the way for Pokemon Reborn 2) this would set up the way for Reborn 2, taking place three yeas after the plot concludes. where the former player character is now a powerful NPC trainer (the Reborn Champion in fact) who is also the head of the reborn police department (the elite four headquarters now also doubles as the police headquarters)and chasing down the newly formed team neo meteor (i'd also make a save carry-over feature, that way the player gets to see and eventually battle a super-powered version of their former party) -
so I've been having money and supply issues for a while now in game, and I happened to look into my pc boxes and saw all the pokemon i had captured, all just sitting there, not doing anything for anyone. i thought to myself "good God, look at them. if only there were some way to use them to make money, since it's not like their helping out otherwise." then an idea came to me (calm down everyone, im not suggesting something like the butcher chop from a certain firered hack... my ideas much more sensible and hummane.) The pokemon repopulation project going on in reborn (it's mentioned on a sign in the back desk of the grand hall) basically my idea is this: make so that you can loan out your Pokemon to the project, it would be like leaving them at day-care, except you'd be getting paid for it, and they would be bred rather than gain exp., and just like in the daycare, you can take them out or put them in anytime you wish. I was also thinking that the mechanics could work like the daycare, though instead of gaining 1 exp per foot step, after a set number of footsteps, an egg is produced, and you get paid for each egg produced. How it would work: (numbers and rates) leave Pokemon with project officials for Pokemon under level 60- after 2500-5000 steps are taken, an egg is produced for Pokemon over level 60- it will take 6000-10000 steps for an egg to be produced two pokemon may be left at a time, however, they will NOT be breeded with one another, even if they're within the same egg groups, and of opposite genders, as that's what the daycare service is for. the rate of steps needed to produce an egg rises the higher level the Pokemon is. for every egg, a base of 500$ will be paid, regardless of the level of the parent the higher the level the pokemon is however, the more money will be paid for eggs produced by the pokemon, making it unsensable to just spam in low level pokemon. the equation can be deduced at a latter date female pokemon that are left will produce eggs that are worth more than if a male pokemon was left. trainers who try to leave dittos in the project's care will be offered upfront cash payment, anything between, 5000 and 10000$,(also affected by level) given the condition that they'll have to agree to relinquish full custody of the pokemon to the Reborn government, ergo, once they are dropped off, that's it, they will have to part ways with their trainers. to prevent any claimers off seller's (donaters) remorse, they should be asked 1."are you sure about this?" answer "yes": 2."are you really, really sure? it's a pretty big decision..." answer"yes": and be asked 3."okay, no, seriously! I don't think you understand the magnitude of this decision, there's a very good chance that you and ditto will never see each other again. you sure that you'd be okay with that?" i also think it could be an excellent way to aquire rare and hard to find species, such as starters and such. simply pay a fee (let's call it a donation) ranging from 3000$-10000$ (depending on the egg's species rarity) , and be given the opportunity to chose a single egg to take under your care. the eggs available to choose from could vary from day to day, as well as with weather patterns (ex. if its raining out side with thunder and lightning, then rare water and electric types would be available) I understand if this idea comes to late to be implamented into the next episode, but, anyway, what do you guys think?

id send in stoutland and spinda first, take care of tentacruel and muk with spinda's psybeam and shadow ball, having stoutland follow it up with moves like crunch and takedown (focus spinda on muk before it can use acid armor or minimize to raise it's defense and evasion stats, turning it into a virtual tank, an invisible tank.) then when nidoqueen comes out, switch over to swampert and arbok to do the clean up, when seviper/ drapion comes out, start focusing on taking them down with mud shot and mud bumb, as seviper's sludge wave combined with high sp.attk stats, and drapions, high attk, easily make them the biggest threats on aya's team. after their out of the picture, feel free to finish off nidoqueen if it hasn't gone down already. also id switch out kriketune with Macargo on the team, and then keep macargo and vileplume in reserves in case somthing goes wrong. it might also be a good idea to invest in a steel type that learns ground type attacks it's just a suggestion strategy. feel free to make tweaks and changes where you see fit.
-
up to this point it was Aya caught me completely off guard when they said a two on two battle tried to rely on my Psychology (Mr.mime), emolga, emboar and kingler to see me through, but dat Drapion, not to mention seviper's and nidoqueen's sludge wave attack. eventually managed to lock on to her pattern and realized that i need send out emolga towards the end to use lightscreen, then send in emboar to do the clean up when it goes down. of all the gym's i spent the longest amount of time strategizing on that one

You Know You've Been Playing Too Much Pokémon Reborn When...
Sutoratosu replied to Sapphire's topic in Reborn City
when the story lines of the main games seem to be dull all of a sudden, when you simply breeze through the main games battles with strategies and observations you devised when they were actually necessary to win.and you wish that even half-wit crime organizations such as the Rockets were at least somewhat competent enough to do any real damage enough to be taken seriously. yes, truly, it is amazing how easily Reborn puts to shame all the Pokemon games made by people whose entire careers revolve around their development -
The Omega Pulse project: (uses three pulses) STEP1: I'd hook up a hypno to the PULSE. it's power to lure children off with it's hypnosis would be amplified to the point that it'd work on everyone in reborn. STEP2: hook up a Persian. get it to use payday. money rains down on the city. command hypno-minions to collect money. STEP3: hook up an alakazam. order it to teleport everyone to various regions where population density will allow for large amounts of immigration. the people come out of hypnosis to find themselves in a new region, conveniently with enough money to buy housing. STEP4: go underneath reborn city and get whatever the hell that team meteor is willing to commit genocide for in order to obtain. STEP5: go find suicune. persuade it to purify lake water so that its actually habitable again. STEP6: move new found object of power to undisclosed location. relinquish control of reborn. STEP7: destroy all pulses, release Pokemon used in them. STEP8: use power to establish a NEW WORLD ORDER, where socialism isn't the economic system in place, and where groups of incompetent adults don't go running around commiting crimes, only to be pwned by a single child who hasn't even hit puberty yet. best part of it: steps 1-7, no one gets killed. step 8... might be a bit messy...
