  1. Alright, a special lucario sounds good, I'll teach it Dark Pulse, Aura Sphere, Calm Mind, Dragon Pulse. Decent moveset, I don't really need a steel move on it (I kinda have that covered ) Thanks for the help! BTW: I probably wont ever get around to fixing its speed IV, I've never liked breeding for perfect (or even decent) IVs
  2. I beat Charlotte using a bronzong (heatproof) to set up trick room and then sent out Steelix and Escavalier holding hard stones and spammed rock slide. That is mono-steel though... It would be helpful if you listed your team and any other notable pokemon you have. IMHO Rain dance doesn't help a ton, the room stays superheated even after you make it rain (which is quite annoying) You could always catch a piloswine and make sure it knows mist, for some reason, iirc, mist cancels out all other terrain effects. Other than that I don't really have much advice to offer besides going back a few episodes and picking up a moxxie gyarados to sweep her with.
  3. Training a Lucario for a monosteel run, I was wondering if I should make him a special or physical lucario? Thoughts for Physical Close Combat ( Might switch out for something else, like Shadow Claw) Swords Dance Brick Break ExtremeSpeed Thoughts for Special Aura Sphere Calm Mind Dragon Pulse XXXXXXX extra info Just wondering what you guys think
  4. Same here, I just went MIA for a few MONTHS without thinking of playing this game, because I have to train a bronzong rain dance for charlotte... and now I don't even remember what exactly that does for me, I just remember that that is what I need to do. UGH. Monosteel is fun, but frustrating at times.
  5. Sorry, I just thought of pokemon that float for my examples, my point was a lot of floating pokemon are affected by ground type moves
  6. Dealing with the dark pulse spam on my steel monotype run was pure hell. I got past it by (finally) baiting out a hyper beam, and then sending out Escavalier to use X-Scissor, and I got a lucky critical hit that 1 shot it
  7. It's all fun and games in the monotype runs, until you meet the gym leader that counters your type.... Good luck with Luna.
  8. Except Poison Jab, Poison Fang, Poison Tail, etc, do 0 damage to steel types. Logic and pokemon don't mix well, half of the pokemon that levitate, but don't have the ability levitate, are still hit by Earthquake and other ground type moves. Such as Klingklang, Metagross, Solrock, Ghastly, Haunter, etc.
  9. Of course ^.^ but I don't know if I will need it
  10. Turns out I messed up again, it actually does have sand force (I swear it changed >.<) but I'm still going for the sandstorm set up. I've gotten it to level 65, and it's pretty strong now, I might attempt to take on the battle by spamming rock slide though, since Earthuake would KO my own pokemon (unless I make magnezone use magnet rise)
  11. why would you change reborn's epic shiny sprites ;-;
  12. I have no problem with Fairy types, as I am doing a monosteel run, so I really dont NEED him to have a steel type move. I am going up against charlotte's gym, which is why I was wanting a sand force / sandstorm power (sand doesn't hurt some of my other mons, Steel types OP) EDIT: It has sand RUSH, my bad
  13. I'm going to train a drilbur up to excadrill, it has Sand Force ability, and the moveset I'm thinking is: Sandstorm Earthquake Rock Slide Swords Dance Thoughts?
  14. I watched all 10 hours and lost my sanity 10 hour videos
  15. Dont worry, my backup plan is to get a trick room bronzong with rain dance, should make the fight a LOT easier I can also get a forretress with Toxic spikes, and set those up to help if needed
  16. that would be a good indicator that you might be able to get a shiny one if you tried it enough. Good luck
  17. A Monotype run is a run where you are only allowed to use one type of pokemon, Such as my Steel Monotype run, where my team currently consists of: Empoleon: water / STEEL Steelix: ground / STEEL Escavalier: bug / STEEL Magnezone: electric / STEEL Klingklang: STEEL Metagross: psychic / STEEL on rotation: Excadrill (almost ): ground / STEEL Bronzor (untrained) : psychic / STEEL As you can see, I am only using pokemon that have the STEEL typing, because I thought it would be an interesting and tough challenge. Currently on the fire type gym, so wish me luck
  18. Honestly, I like High Jump Kick on Scrafty, because you can sweep really well with it.I don't know if I would use Dragon Dance if he has Moxie, but that's up to you. Otherwise the moveset looks good
  19. Fighting type I have 2 recommendations: Lucario and Scrafty Srafty with Moxie is a really good sweeper, although he is weak to fighting (but immune to psychic) Lucario is also pretty strong, but he is also weak to fighting (but immune to poison)
  20. You probably named your weavile Vinny
  21. How I understand it is: Person 1 has X pokemon Person 2 has Y pokemon Yash deletes X pokemon from person 1 gamesave, recreates it in person 2 gamesave Yash deletes Y pokemon from person 2 gamesave, recreates it in person 1 gamesave Yash gives person 1 and 2 their new save files, which they replace their current ones with. It's probably a lot more complicated and time consuming than that though
  22. Who is rick, and why do I own him?
  23. the WIDE variety of pokemon was meant to say that with a team of 6 you SHOULD be able to A) make use of the field effect in some way, B ) Cancel the field effect, or C) Change the field effect to something that suits you (Mist + Moonblast Gardevoir) This isn't VGC. AI sucks, if you don't like facing AI because it's not challenging enough then that is a different problem. I don't like to waste time grinding, but I've never had to spend a long time grinding either, the level curves are pretty close (although radomus -> samson is a stretch) On my first run I've even had to use common candies to REDUCE the level of my pokemon, because I gained too much experience on it. I started out with the "bullshit" because you continue to call the field effects an unfair advantage. It's not really unfair, it actually makes sense. If you were a fire type pokemon leader, would you rather use Misty's gym (full of water) or Blaine's gym (its on FIRE!). Erm, duh? The field effects are pretty well thought out, as I said, and each one can actually be used AGAINST the leader, I beat Samson by using a Scrafty with Moxie, and OHKOing everything with High Jump Kick (took a few tries to get it to hit 6 times in a row though). I beat Radomu's trick room strategy by switching in an Escavalier, who because of trick room 1 shot every single one of his psychic type pokemon with X-Scissor or Iron Head (For the Fairy Gardevoir) The point is, the field effects aren't really an UNFAIR advantage. They are completely fair. Off-topic, have you played Dark Souls? Its the same scenario here, you can call it unfair because it's hard, and different, but it is completely fair, and finally overcoming a challenge that has been beating you has a HUGE sense of reward EDIT: Agh, Ninja'd
  24. To say the field effects were made up just to add artificial difficulty is kinda bullshit. I remember when Ame linked us all the video of Pikachu only being able to beat Onix because of the sprinklers, and said that it was a really good idea to add such field effects into the game to add more DIVERSITY in the ways that you could win a fight. You can still ignore field effects and beat all of the gym leaders regardless of their field effects, although it IS harder, its harder for a REASON. It WASN'T just made up. The idea itself is VERY good, and IMHO should be added to the regular games, because of how fun it is to play with the field effects. Why shouldn't Thunderbolt do more damage if the pokemon is covered in water? Why shouldn't a Grass type be a lot stronger on a Grassy Plain than in the Ocean? Shouldn't Earthquake cause caves to collapse? Reborn also has a better story than a lot of RPGs that I've played in general. I've bought RPGs for 60$-80$, and they've had a less interesting / less in depth story than Reborn (which is free!!) To say the game isn't interesting makes me think you're a pretty boring person :/ Overall, besides my first pokemon game (Red). Reborn has been my favorite pokemon game. Even if my favorite pokemon is only a boss battle in the game, and I'll always waste a turn to throw a pokeball at it, it is still one of the best pokemon games I've played. EDIT: You talk about wanting good pokemon and good TMs to make the game harder? How does that even work? Giving you good pokemon and good moves makes the game easier. Period. There's no difficulty when your team is better. Reborn limits your team to make sure you ACTUALLY HAVE TO HAVE A STRATEGY TO WIN. ? Have to have the right pokemon to use a field effect? A LOT of the field effects can be used by a WIDE variety of pokemon, that argument is invalid. You also say you're trying to find a balance, but it sounds a LOT like you're just bashing reborn
