You can exploit his lead Wigglytuff to farm +SP.Atk boosts from thunder wave and boost your speed with Agility, then, start sweep his team. The only mon that tanked a surf was Clefable =3

There is no perfect team (a full party, 6 pokémons) on Reborn. The field effects and NPCs' movepool are plotted to force you think outside the box, use pokémons you never imagined to use. You should rotate your party frequently, so you can overcome certain challenges (as Sirrobert mentioned above) while also keeping your pokémons under the level cap (yet Common Candies are pretty useful and necessary).

Arbok and Seaking helped me quite a lot on early-mid game (Arbok) and Seaking came with me on every gym battle (from Julia to Adrienn) due lightingrod. It saved me multiple times (most notably Noel and Dr. Sigmund)

@GS BALL listed pretty much everything you need to do before going up to Agate. You should completely clear Citae d-Astrae (Holy temple beneath Grand Stairway) before moving to Agate, because that place will be inacessible after that, so make sure you mine everything you want/need, grab hidden items (most notably Shell Bell and some goodies such as stardust, star pieces, etc).

I think it's mentioned on a post explaining about locations on Reborn...it's pretty old stuff. I'm not sure if it's mentioned in-game.

We probably will have to "finish off" Team Meteor before the Reborn E4 battles, so, perhaps we won't even have a proper MC vs Champion battle. Otherwise, we would (have to) face Lin as the "Champion". We should keep in mind that Lin was the Reborn Champion before Ame...

I haven't battled Penelope yet, but by watching a few battles, her team seems like pretty solid already, but I wouldn't mind too (as sailboat stated). I mean, increasing her array of options is always good for a player that is already restricted with a type, so...I vote yes for M-Charizard X, but, would she be allowed to keep Charizard without mega evolving (who knows if that could help her someway)?

Also, Reborn added a feature that "locks" the moves that your parents entered on the daycare as reference to the offsprings. As such, if one of your parents forgot the move while on the daycare, your Eggs will still have them until you remove that parent (Sorry if I didn't explain it correctly).

Their leads are TTar and Blissey, so maybe you could sweep Casanova's team (the TTar team) and keep Blissey on the field.

There is a Lady/Casanova double battle at the Grand Hall on saturdays, but it may be hard for smeargle to sketch the moves since they're quite tough.
