  2. Hi, I'm curious as to whether you have any clothes, accessories or just random belongings that are particularly significant to you that you tend to have on your person more often than not. It's pretty common for people to place significance on certain possessions. Small and large. As a kid it might have been a games console or teddy bear, as a teen it may have been a favoured bike, phone or something similar. You may depend on and use these regularly or they offer some comfort. I think, though, it takes a certain amount of that kind of importance for someone to take something with them at all times. Practical or otherwise. For example, for me I always wear my coat. Before you cry "well no shit, a lot of people wear coats" I should stress that I wear it all the time. It takes the peak of heat over here to stop me from doing so. It's navy blue, goes down to the bottom of my thighs and in it's pockets I hold an assortment of items. These include practical necessities like keys, important pieces of paper, a pen and my wallet. Then there's my stones. So, in a lot of places in the UK or in Europe along the coast you tend to find these tacky souvenir shops. In these shops you can find a knick for every knack. Souvenirs that strive for the position of rushed purchases meant the friends back home. One common feature of these are little sections for minerals and gems. Onyx, opal, peridot, etcetera. Over the past few years I've ended up collecting several of these stones. Just normal, roughly tumbled gems. Milk Opal, Rose quarts, Lapis lazuli, Tiger's eye, a hematite ring and most recently a piece of Citrine. For the superstitious these are meant to vaguely symbolise something and encourage general traits or aspects of ones character. Below is a general idea of what they were meant to do and what I thought they did. I carry these stones in my pocket everyday. I don't know if they do anything at all. Probably don't but hey, what's the harm? So, do you have something like my stones? Something that you keep more for the sentiment than actual practicality? Also, to anyone who cracks a Steven universe joke or decides to correct me on minute details about the damn rocks, you will recieve an ASCII middle finger by PM. You have been warned.

  6. Darius from PSS. First guy I ever wrote, first guy to stand up to the mind-breaking nightmare created by a god and Host who both intended to break him. He got away with it too. He was pretty standard by all rights. Dead relative, call for justice, seeking to bring his relatives murderer to justice. Still, he was not a bad start by any means. Claude from Ymora. God bless Claude, he went through so many iterations in my head. I figured it'd be so easy to fall into an edgelord trap so initially I just wanted him to be a "nice guy" comic relief character. Then I realised comedic relief is hard in an RP because everyone else is so serious and it makes being there for the right set-ups for the jokes difficult. Still got some innuendos in there but I digress. Doux, Claudes bruh. He may be a pokemon but fuck it, he counts. Doux was the opposite of Claude in that he was so consistent. Cute, chill and slightly mischievous. ELFUUUUUUUUN. Varrick from Graterras Clash of Fates. Short lived but I packed more genuine writing into one scene with this guy than half my other characters. Sure he got barbecued but hey, YOLO. Or he did at least. Jerry from Jerry's Tale. Still working with this guy, trying to figure out exactly where I want his story to go and how. He's a good guy though and I'm gonna feel bad for putting him through some scary shit. Maybe a few more but I won't talk about them yet because they're not quite done. No point talking about an OC who won't technically exist as I'd talk about them.
  7. I think the biggest reason I don't listen to Hip-hop is that it doesn't feel like background music to me. Like, I'm sat there thinking I need to focus and listen to the lyrics to get the general idea of what the artist's trying to get across. Conversely, another genre I listen to is Vocaloid. I don't speak a lick of japanese so I don't have to care about the lyrics whatsoever and can listen to it on end for ages at a time. Same goes for instrumental music because obviously there are no lyrics. That said, I rarely listen to music for the sake of it. I listen to music whilst doing something else, playing a game, reading or studying. Things that kinda need my attention. I acknowledge that I'm probably missing out but, well, there's a lot of stuff in the world that I am going to miss out on, a lot of it just as accessible as this genre of music. Maybe I'll start getting into it sometime in the future, I've not got any reason not to do so.
  8. So, AAVE is a dialect that then gets commonly merged with other dialects within music?

  10. Ok, Swampellow is tagging in then, either way.
  11. I'm pretty damn resilient, mentally, physically and emotionally. I have my ups and downs but overall because I'm ridiculously stubborn I end up pushing past the aftermath of a bad time to carry on doing what I'd always do. This means that in the end I keep circling the positive side of the outlook spectrum. I just haven't found anything that's kept me away for long.
  12. I'm tagging in zumi to replace me. Hooray for replacements existing.

  15. HHHHHAAAaaaaAAAAA WHY BRUCE LEE IS STRONGER THAN VAMPIRE LORDS DAMMIT

  16. Furthermore there were several interim updates in the meantime between some episodes to fix some minor issues. These took up their own time before progress on a new ep could be made.
  17. In a story where there are plenty of really overpowered heroes, how do you show that they aren't actually overpowered? Plonk downa giant monster that kills most of them. The Endbringers are here and they're fucking terrifying.

  18. I've found that as you get into the game you start to learn the basics of what works and what doesn't with the various playstyles. If nothing else just dump points everywhere, experimentation doesn't hurt early on and not much later either. For example, if you have a skill that can stun, grab it quick. Stuns, dazes, slows etc are all real useful for dealing with strong individuals.
  19. Going Uni. Gonna write books.
  20. Ok, this topic is to bring some attention to a lesser known roguelike. Tales of Maj'Eyal is a roguelike RPG dungeon crawler. Not a roguelite, a la binding of Isaac mind you. You start the game by creating a character with the typical fantasy sets. Humans, Elves, Dwarves and Halflings that can be warriors, berserkers, rogues, archers, mages (Though you start off with only an Alchemist class) and a variety of other classes that are somewhat more unconventional. Like Psychic mindslayers. Then, depending on your race, you start in a dungeon and you are at the meat of the game. Explore, kill, loot, level up. Sounds simple, right? Well, it is. Until you look at your skill trees. Every class has a unique set of skills tailored to provide unique gameplay each time. You could be the immobile warrior, using sword and board to defend against literal hordes of enemies. (I'm not kidding I once won a fight against 50~ snow giants WITH elite "boss" giants as well). You could be the shadowblade, a rogue who uses two weapons and magic to deal out tons of damage and get the fuck out before he takes any himself. Then you could be a mage who uses beam and AoE spells to carve away at the enemy crowds at the expense of being very vulnerable without any spells. Or you could be a martial arts master as the brawler. Literally punch a dragon to death. As you level up and play the game you also get the opportunity to unlock new skills for your current character as well as new races and classes for the next playthrough, depending on your decisions. So, as you advance through the game and explore, you find a lot of new content to take advantage of. The gameplay itself though, the tactical application of different skills in response to enemy threats on the dungeon map is what makes it interesting. Enemies have access to skills just as you do which means you have to proceed carefully or get utterly destroyed by something that catches you unawares. This game is not easy and you have to know how to make the most of your class to get anywhere. I've been experimenting with different classes and have 35+ hours in the game, on steam and off, and I've only legitimately got a character that can die to level 20 once or twice. The character level cap is level 50. Point is, if you want a difficult, tactical RPG roguelike, look this up. You can buy it on steam for fairly cheap or you can download a free version from the games website. This version does not have several features, such as an "easy" exploration mode, the ability to change your character sprite or access to DLC, which adds a LOT more content. So yeah, go check it. It's real gud.
