Fire Emblem on the Forums: Sea of Crossroads [IC]

Alright, the bait has been taken now for the real-in. After the man finished playing his song Belros slowly claps for the man. "That was some nice pretty nice playing, now for your payment." He grabs the satchel on his left side and opens it. "Oh, it looks like this isn't my coin pouch, rather its my medicine pouch. Must've left my actual pouch at the fountain." He beckons the two over to the fountain, "Come with me and your payment awaits." He walks over to the fountain once more hoping the man will follow behind. -

300 just to play a song, jeeze what a rip off. I guess that's how he got so much gold. Well, at least that's a what a thief wants you to think and it takes one to know one. If this guy really can play then I guess he won't turn down an offer. "You know what fine, think of this as a gift Emilee. I have way more than 300 vespers on me in my coin pouch. He tapped on a pouch on his left side that did indeed have something inside it. "So I'll pay you to play a song, but you'll get your money only AFTER you play. Play good enough and I may even give you double or triple what you asked for, just hurry up and don't keep this poor girl waiting." -

Belros was watching as Emilee had bumped into what seemed like a street performer when something odd caught his eye. For a man who plays songs for money on the streets that seems like an unusually high amount of Vespers to be carrying around and with this talk of thieves of late he couldn't help but be suspicious of the man. "I'll just ask him a few questions before he runs off." Without saying a word to Cadence or Darius, Belros walked over to Emilee and her new acquaintance. "Say for a street performer that's a lot of money to be carrying around. Has business been good lately with the tourists?" He asks the red haired man. -

"Oh that..." Belros let out a sigh, I guess she has the right to be curious about it because she watched the entire scene go down. Though he really didn't feel like explaining it. "So you know the shop owner was part of those bandits from a couple of days ago? Well I sort threw a couple of knives at him. Obviously he didn't die though you can see why he wouldn't exactly be too thrilled to see the man who hurled sharp blades at him only mere days ago." -

Belros noticed Cadence's approach from the east side of the city. I wonder what she was doing over there? Hearing her question he responded, "Unfortunately I'm the only one I've seen today. Well, besides you in the pawn shop. I can help you round them up if you need me." Recalling what he's overheard so far from waiting he adds, "Also, let me guess, does it have something to do with thieves at all?" -

Well Belros is at a loss for what to do. He has all he really needs shopping wise. Following Madante's previous orders he headed over to the fountain. He sit on the edge of the fountain dipping his left hand in the water. Belros started getting board so he began eavesdropping on conversations of people passing by. Maybe he'd hear some juicy gossip. -

"Alright I'll take 'em!" He said taking out 1050 Vespers and placing them on the counter. He then take the parrying knife and lockpicks and proceeds to head out but before he leaves he speaks, "I hope business goes well for you in the future, I'll be sure to stop by next time I'm in town." With that he leaves the store, but now what to do...? -

"Oh yea, I was looking to buy that lockpick." He says pointing towards it. His eyes then glace over to the parrying knife. "Also that knife over there looks like a good blade. How much for both of them?" -

"Oh wait, now I remember you! You were a member of those bandits!" He said before letting out a sigh of relief. This could've gone way worse and thankfully it's only him. "Well I'm glad to see that you've given up the life bandit life at least and I'm sorry it took me a while to recognize you. So as long as we're not on opposing side lets say we restart. I know I can't remedy the pain I caused you with those knives but I'm still glad you're alive nonetheless." He spoke apologizing to the man. "Actually I have some vulnerary on me if you need it too patch up those wounds. It's a little used but I'll gladly give it to you if it can help." -

"So you are from the guild huh." He let out an annoyed sigh, and here he thought this'll be better than last night. "So, I'm guessing you're not gonna sell me anything or can I just buy what I need and get out?" -

Belros looked a bit confused at the shop keeper's immediate dislike of him. "I'm sorry, did I do something to offend-" he stopped mid sentence before looking at his wares. Then he stopped to think, who else but Emilee right now hates his guts? Then he remembered. "Wait, you wouldn't happen to be with THEM would you?" He asked now regretting his coming to the shop. It's been little more than a week, has word really spread that fast? -

"Alright! Let's see where the first stop will take me!" Belros said to himself gleefully. Turns out all he really needed was some sleep to get back into a good mood. Besides he can't keep being a sour sport all the time. He took a look around the town wondered what he could possibly need. He then glanced at the pawn shop that was open, and remembered he was lacking a lockpick. "So, that shop is first on the list of things to check out." He headed over to the shop to see what stock they had Head Over to the Pawn Shop -
Happy Birthday Krim! You're a real chill dude, and great in Fire Embem. So that's all you need in my book

Belros was surprised that Emilee decided to hug him after all that. They were just fighting after all. "Was she just talking to a tree instead of me just now?" He thought to himself as she walk away. He went back up into a tree sitting on a branch and back leaning on the trunk. He let out a long annoyed sigh. "Everyone can change huh. Sure we can change, but change is not always a good thing. I shouldn't let that conversation get to me, I just need to focus on my objective. But dammit if Emilee didn't sound almost like her with all her scolding." He shook his head back and forth repeatedly, "No, what I think I need is some good night sleep to get my mind off things." He stood on the branch ready to jump off the tree, but stopped and turned his head to the tree trunk. "You don't think I'm stupid do you?" As if the tree was trying to give a response he heard the branch underneath him start to snap, however he was not gonna fall on his face again. He jumped off right before it could break. "Alright I get the memo, jeez even the plant life don't want me around..." He headed back to camp to get some much needed rest. -

Belros shrugged, "Then I guess I'm just stupid." He remarked sarcastically, "I know as much as anyone how stupid I am. But like I said I would gladly go back if I could, but I can't anymore so you're welcome. I probably won't be able to go back for a long time if ever." He let out a long sigh. Why was he here? Why did he think he'd find what he was looking for with them? Oh well, there could be worse things out there. "I can understand if you don't want to talk to people like me, so if by your leave I'll gladly go somewhere else. Just remember I'll be there on the battlefield, and so long as we're still on the same side I'll keep protecting you. I'm not the type of guy to go back on my word nor will I betray the group, so if that's what you fear don't. But I can't change who I am as much as you may dislike. So could you let me make my mistakes in peace?" -
Jade O'Duffle Jade looked at the pit and thought to himself, "No way in hell I'm going to jump this, we should probably find a different way to-" He then noticed Mitsurugi beginning to leap over the pit. He then thought to himself, "No way in hell am I going to let her show me up!" He then followed behind her trying to time his jump just right to get across. Jump Across the Toxic Pit

Belros face went from regretful sadness to anger real quick as he lost control of his emotions. He responded furiously to Emilee. "Tell me how long are you gonna keep being an innocent little princess, Emilee? Not everyone is a dandy little angel who can do no wrong. I stole to live, you get that? That means without it I would've kicked the bucket long ago. So when I see the select few people with hoards of money in their coffers it turns my stomach." Belros spat on the ground. How could they watch as kids starve out on the street I know I couldn't. So we robbed them of their wealth and it's not like they were using it. Hell most of them just keep it in piles as it all collects dust. You want to know what we did with the money we stole? We fed those staving children so they wouldn't have to go stealing themselves. The same children that most rich folk scoff at in their pristine coaches. So don't go talking to me about right and wrong. I know it is wrong to steal but is it wrong to want to save people from starving to death? Oh, and by the way, if I could I would gladly go back to that life. Don't think for a second that I wouldn't. I'm here for one reason and one reason alone. Once I've completed what I came here to do I'm done with this whole royal guard thing." -

Belros grew a big grin. "Oh so you want to know bout me? Alright, but it'll take some explaining. So as a kid I used to be a pickpocket, steeling gold and jewelry from any sap on the streets who looked like a prime target. Though soon I learned steeling from people was wrong, because many others were going through poverty just like myself so I stopped being a pickpocket." He paused to make it seem like it was the end of the story, to make it seemed like he changed but, "So instead I decided to steel only from the rich. But with their huge supply of wealth it was going to be near impossible to do it alone so I joined a thieve's guild." His eyes glow as he remembers the good times there. "Let me tell you I sure did have some good times there. Most everyone was super nice to me when I join, there was even someone who-" He stopped almost immediately and his happy smile and tone wiped away. "I-I think I said too much. Sorry for everything... I should go." He seemed almost dead, no emotion other than what seemed like regret. He turned around and started slowly walking back to camp. Hopefully before morning he'll forget again. -

Belros flinched as Emilee flicked him. "Hey it's not my fault you just so happened to walk by where I was." He defended himself. "Hey, if you don't mind me asking what did you do before joining the royal guard, like how was working at a church? You don't have to answer, it's just you made me curious." He politely asked the maiden not expecting a response but he was genuinely curious. -

Belros was feeling a bit confused by all of this. He was expecting more of an angered response but what he got instead was a rather nice one. He wasn't complaining mind you just a plesant surprise. "Heh, sorry about scaring you like that. I was keeping watch over the camp in the trees when you came over." He paused for a bit, reluctant to continue. "Then you came over and started singing and I guess I was falling for it." He face went a bit pink in embarrassment and he scratched the back of his head. "I didn't want to disturb you so I tried to sneak away and you see how that went. Though most of the time when I'm sneaking in the trees I don't fall out. Ha ha ha. Thanks for patching me up though and not immediately getting mad." -

Belros had spent his time keeping look out for the camp under his own initiative. They were recently attacked by bandits so the area wasn't exactly the safest. He kept within the tree tops giving him a good vantage point of the area. When from up top he noticed Emilee sitting underneath a nearby tree humming and then bursting into song. "Huh, she's not a half bad singer." He didn't want to interrupt her though he still wanted to listen, so he sneakily leap from tree to tree which he was far too familiar with. Well, at least he thought he was because when he tried to make his leap to another tree the branch underneath him broke and he fell flat on his face with a loud thud noise as bark and leafs came down with him as he lands within view of Emilee. Now he's done it. What will she think of him now? He just lays there not moving an inch, maybe if he was lucky she didn't notice him and he could just run out of this situation. But things are never that easy.
