  1. Welp too late for winter sprites.. nah I'm just kidding. This is cool although something tells me I won't do so well playing through it again. Well it's great news to my ears er....eyes!
  2. Oh I've been wondering about this myself as a matter of fact there's something I need to do. Anyways I'd at least assume the four protaginists were the same height if we're generally talking about it for the average player. When I look at Ferns sprite I always think he's short too although his battle sprite for the tag team portion of the game makes me think he's about the same size. This is very important for me to know personally.

  4. I feel so relieved and a little sad to say that all the sprite outfits have been completed. Say hello to Vero in overworld sprite form! Walk Run Bike Fishing He didn't give me much trouble either. Of course there are a few things I will need to change in the future. One thing to note is that pretty much every bike animation is the same with little to no added detail barring Kuro and Alice. I haven't looked at other sprite animations of this so I'll need to reference some in order to make the necessary changes. This is one of the many updates I will have to make in the future. For now I needed to change them enough so that they would at least look like the concepts I had in mind. Now its time to do more artistic work with the pixels. Now is the perfect time to let me know if something is strange about these sprites but its ok if it takes awhile for you to comment because I won't be able to update them as fast as I have been. I'm gonna need to find work and I'll have to go back to school before this break gets to me. I'm just glad I finished making these. I thought it would be better for people to have something to mess around with. I'll definitely be around checking the forums so please unleash all of your comments, questions and critiques so I won't miss something important as I work on the sprites. I really appreciate all of you for viewing or commenting my the sprite work and I'm glad to see others willing to learn how to make sprites and grow. If you want to help but feel uncomfortable about posting anything yet then send me a pm. I'll do my best to help out. Until then, enjoy the summer, sunny, sporty outfits for Reborn!
  5. Of course you can help! Anyone's welcome to post sprite work on this thread. I've just been constantly updating my work. We'll work something out in the future if it gets a bit disorganized but for now feel free. Two in one day I'm living large! Walk Run Bike Fishing She didn't give me any trouble so far. I could edit them more but because they're so small I have to be careful to not to put in too much detail on a low detailed sprite. So far she moves perfectly fine. I didn't get a chance to check her bicycle animation so that may have errors I could have caught. If anyone notices anything strange let me know. So far I like how she came but tell me what you think. Currently there's a fishing problem with all the sprites but I think we'll get the answer to the problem as soon as Ame responds. Last but not least there's Vero. I'll get to him as soon as I can. When I'm finished I still plan to update everything one last time before I stamp em as finished. Then I don't really know where to go from there. Winter sprites anyone? I don't know tell me what you what to see and maybe I'll test some things out. Until then enjoy playing with Lucia!
  6. This is new. Its nice to see a clear concept. To make the images smoother I'd suggest you be very careful with the shading. I try to draw very little and if I have to draw a lot I try to stick with colors Ame already has in the images and shade in what I think needs shading the most. -one thing you could do is use Paint.net or Graphics Gale to delete the leftover white outlines around the vsTrainer sprite(though I prefer Paint.net for this job) -second keep the original image reference close to you at all times. It'll help give you some direction in what needs to be shaded. -three if you do draw do what Alaris said and draw at half the resolution. Its simple in Graphics Gale just go to All Frames/Resample to 50% and uncheck smooth then you can just focus on drawing the shapes. That's all I have so far but it's a start towards cleaning up any loose pixels. I'll definitely take note of that and bring in Kuro's overworld sprite as well: Walk Run Bike Kuro beat me up. The whole time. I struggled with him a lot and I will still have to struggle in order to correct a few errors I couldn't fix right away. At least I animated his ponytail a little though even that could be better. But please let me know if you notice anything strange about him. I may have missed something in the process. Tell me what you think. See this is why I didn't want to call them summer outfits. Now everyone'll be like "it's fall I don't need this." I could see so many places where outfits like these would be used like at Apophyl Academy, Azurine Island, maybe even Rhodochrine Jungle. Well at least aside from the sunny days. Apophyl Academy seems perfect if you ask me but I don't know. Lets call it SPORTS GEAR or something. Why not? The idea for winter outfits started to make sense after the icy terrain was revealed for episode 13. As of now, I have idea's but I'm also interested in what everyone else would like to see. Its coming to the end with only Vero and Lucia left. Hopefully I"ll finish them rather quickly. Enjoy Kuro's completeness! Comments and critiques are always welcome and so are questions!
  7. It's funny that 12 was my first final fantasy which I like but have a lot of trouble understanding plot wise. I'll always love it for not having random battle's and a battle theme that you would eventually get tired from hearing over and over again. The strange thing about 13 is that I like Lightning but that just seems to be it. I mean everyone else to mean is ok but I played the game because I wanted to see her which is why I might skip playing 13-2 and just get Lightning returns. The battle system became a bit too tactical to the point where you'd constantly be switching paradigms. I do prefer the story of final fantasy 10 to 12. It was just easier for me to understand and get into. Some people liked Tidus and other's hated him but at least you understood him. I thought he was entertaining character. Actually I enjoyed the whole cast to be frank. The battle system was simple but I liked how every character had a useful role.(except for poor Kimahri) I kinda like 6 the best but sort of before the world of ruin. It gets a little too depressing at that point. Klefka was a great villain though. Like 10 I like how every character had a unique skill like Edger and his gadgets and Sabin's blitz techniques and oh my gosh stealing was actually useful with Locke! The extra characters sort of disappointed me because..... well they were extra and that's all they had to them. However, Shadow could have had a little more involvement instead of him dying if you jumped off the floating island thing too soon or him being available as an extra character if you waited for him. I like how Final Fantasy 7 had side quests for Yuffie and Vincent that gave players a chance to learn more about those two. I love the series though I can't see myself buying every game they ever made.

  9. Thanks I appreciate it. Thanks! I'm glad to see people pleased. As of now Alice's alternate outfit is complete as of episode 12. I think I'll update them one last time before I consider them done. Walk. Run. Bike. Fishing. This was pretty difficult. I basically made every mistake that Ame's video's told me not to do. Hopefully Kuro won't take as long even though I know he'll be just as difficult. The good news is that everything is animated correctly (no leftover pixels or overlapping pixels in animations). I'm just not sure if I should leave these overworld sprites alone or make a few adjustments. Tell me what you think. Comments and critiques are welcome. Until then we'll see how I do.

  11. I'm almost finished. Its been awhile but I wanted to get all four of the transitions up at once. Here they are: This one was first to be made and very difficult to make. I'm going to come back to her in the future. Any ideas for improving the ponytail? Even more difficult than her. I'm not sure if I got it right but if you notice anything strange let me know. Very easy and quick to make. I like it but comments are welcome Also very easy and quick to make. If you think his armpits look sweating that I may have to cut back on the shading. We're coming to the end of the sunny day outfits. All thats left are the overworld sprites. I don't know when I'll finish them all but I'll update this post more frequently for those.       Personally I love them. I'm still hoping to see them implemented into the legit version of the game by Ame sometime. As unlikely as that may sound.

  13. This is the closest one I can find. http://www.pokecommunity.com/showpost.php?p=4597371&postcount=15 I think its the proper way to do but like I said I'm no expert on making pokemon sprites. I'm still working with trainer's sprites for now. If that doesn't do it then someone around here should be used to that type of stuff.
  14. I'm no expert on this stuff but you could use something like paint.net to open up both sprite files and compare the two image sizes then shrink the one you want down to the proper size. However, it might not look so great if you do that so maybe try to search for a spriting tutorial at pokecommunity.com. They resize sprites in one of the tutorials. I just can't remember which one.
  15. I wanted to put Lucia and Vero in the same post but I struggled with him for a while. This finishes the concepts for the backsprite animations. I just decided to go with the gloves because it was faster and I really need to focus on at least having all the concepts together. If any of you notice anything strange with the shading or size of a body part or something , let me know so I can at least try to make a correction. Overall I think he came out ok but I think I could of done better. Last two things will be transitions and overworld sprites then the characters alternative outfits will be complete. Comments are welcome.
  16. Surprise! If you thought I was done today you're gladly mistaken my friends. Reintroducing the beautiful warrior Lucia!!! This was done very quickly so as I said before pleas tell me if you notice anything strange. Although I highly recommend testing out the animation first with the game just so you know how fast it is. I think I'll call it a night and save Vero's backsprite for sometime in the near future. Until then, please tell me what you think.
  17. Look out. Updates coming through! Vero's been given a little bit more detail. I had to tone it down a bit because he started to look really old. For now he's a bit more muscular. I'd don't know which looks the better the gloves or the wristband but I'll let all of you decide. Just a few edits here really. Small changes for her skin and neck region. I added a wristband and I gave the wrinkles another shot. For the wrinkles I started to think less is more so I like where these are going but I also want to hear other peoples opinions on her. Not much to say except I gave her a wristband to match the back sprite animation. Comments are still welcome. The edits here are also very minor. Just a little smoothing in the pants and a few added highlights. This was difficult. The animation itself works fine. The detail is what I'm struggling with here. I don't think I'll come back to working on this unless I have some sort of direction because that ponytail would constantly seem like he was wearing it to the sides like Hatsune Miku. Don't be afraid to critique this because I'm lost on what to do and where to go on making it any better. With that said I'll be working on the back sprites next for Vero and Lucia. I think they'll be easier to deal with but I know better than to underestimate this kind of stuff. Tell me if you notice anything strange about the backsprite animations. Till then, thanks for keeping up with me!

  19. Whats the secret to success? Suffering. Well I was afraid and uncertain of how the back sprite animation for Alice would turn out. I couldn't be sure that it would at least work. In the end I got something decent and worthy of further edits. If I struggled doing this I can't imagine the difficulty of making a sprite animation from scratch. All I can say is that the concept of Alice is at least here. I figured she'd be the hardest with the high ponytail and all. I guess the rest will be easy except for...dang it Kuro! Well I'll have to come back and edit the ponytails after finding good references. Other than that please tell me any odd things you notice. There's likely to be something strange about her. Yes. I'm going all the way. I probably should have said that in my original post. I'm altering every instance you see the main characters which includes overworld sprites, vs mugshots, trainer cards and the backsprite animations. Don't worry I've no reason to take offense. This is the first time I've actually gotten requests and I wouldn't take offense unless I made it clear for people to stop asking. Now this right here....nah I'm just kidding. I honestly never thought about doing it for the all major characters. However Victoria being a user of fighting types crossed my mind and so did Amaria(I remember someone drawing her in a nice outfit but I don't remember where though it was on the reborn website in one of these forums). I didn't exactly want to label them summer clothes but as long as everyone knows that travelers wear these outfits for a hot climate I guess summer clothes fits. I won't say yes because I'm not sure if I can make these outfits for everyone but I won't entirely rule it out since some of them don't have back sprites. For now I think I'll plan for a few extra characters and expand depending on which major characters are desired most by the community in a summer outfit. First thing I can't forget though is to finish the main characters outfits. Thanks a lot. It was either I take your advice or have him shirtless Gray style. Anyone willing to test the animation is welcome. I tried it myself and I thought it was somewhat normal however I've been looking at it forever. Tell me what you think I haven't forgotten about updating Vero and Kuro for any errors. It shouldn't take too long to fix any oddities. .
  20. I don't see it happening the way the story is going for reborn as of now. Of course I could see it happening as extra content for maybe one battle. Making sprites can be difficult depending on what you're trying to make. As a newb, I'm struggling with a harder portion of it. This kind of thing could be done but like I said if it isn't with the original plan then it could happen as after game content. Other than that ame could be risking hours of work that could be spent elsewhere.

  23. Bam! Concepts are finally all together. Check out Kuro's new look. As I did with Vero, I decided not to get too detailed and focused on making the concept. There's a bit of shading that could be cleaned up but for now lets focus on the overall look. Since he has long hair, he'd most likely have to tie it up too but it's shorter than Alice's hair hence the short ponytail. I also wanted to play off of Alice's style and give him a vest as well. I also thought he might look better overall if his shirt was sleeveless. I am unsure if I should have left him that muscle bulk in his arms. Although I like giving him the bulk I'm interested in other peoples opinions about giving him this look. I'm open to suggestions for him now that he's up. First thing I'll do is get the hard part out of the way which is the back sprite animation. Hopefully Lucia or Alice won't give me too much trouble. Don't forget I'm still working on Kuro and suggestions are welcome. Those legs are troubling me as well. Currently I don't have a solution except experiment till something works. I have a few idea's for winter outfits but I'm not sure how fast I can make them. I don't think I can finish them before episode 13 but it would be nice if I did. I thought about taking off the gloves but they look so good on him though! I don't really have a good excuse for keeping them on him except he looks like he's ready to work up a sweat.....which you might not want to do in burning hot weather. I don't know I could try taking them off and maybe give him a wristband or something. Actually I may have to do that with Alice and Lucia too. You could wipe the sweat away from your eye's with a wristband so that might work. Thank you Sheep. Edit: By the way everyone all the current sprites are at the top of the thread.
  24. Here's the design for Vero. I figured it would be best to post the overall concept before I get too deep into it. I had a suggestion for giving him a short sleeved shirt and cargo shorts but I decided to wait before I'd add in that detail. For now I gave him an underarmor T-shirt to make him look a bit built. However I didn't want to make him a bulky muscle head so I didn't try to add any bulges. Suggestions for changing his appearance are welcome as I'm still working on him. Otherwise I'll touch him up a bit more and start working on Kuro. I know you'll probably say she looks the same but her right arm was really shaded sloppy the first time around so I had to do something. I also recolored so she wouldn't have the color blue anywhere. The main characters are all mostly wearing white and black so I figured it would be wrong for me not to follow the original choice of colors. Other than that the edits are a few minor pixels and probably not very noticeable. Once Kuro is done I'll be working on the other sprite forms like the overworld sprite and back animation. Until then comments and suggestions are welcome.
  25. Note to self; don't dis heracross when Sheep's around. I think this is a really useful discussion for helping with placing pokemon in Reborn. There are a lot of pokemon and I wouldn't expect every pokemon to be placed in the right location for the first time.(if we're talking about just game balance by itself). I haven't done my research this time on flechling/talonflame and won't since dondon's presented some of it's movepool through level up . If its too late to pick one up now to train(which it is for me especially at a low level), where could it possibly be appropriate? -Before said Gym I'll take a wild guess and say before Flo. True it comes in handy but is incapable of sweeping her whole team at that point. Corey would cause it a lot of trouble. Shelly may get steamrolled provided that yanmega is taken out in one blow. Kiki would probably be capable of taking it out at some point with machamp. From Aya on-wards I'm guessing it would perform a decent team role but it wouldn't be able to take on pretty much anything else toe to toe. That's my suggestion based on the little information I have.
