Under the Hill - First Circle: Judgement
Supernovae replied to Notus's topic in Unofficial Official RP Club's General
Mr. Taylor sat quietly during Ethic's tale. He may have wanted to interject at some points, but he knew that it wasn't for the best. Mr. Taylor had figured out some time ago that when people decide to open up, to unload all of there problems, that there's only one thing you can do. Sit back and listen. Take in the information as it is and don't let curiosity control you. People only want to give off the information they want to and prying usually stifles the process. So Mr. Taylor, despite his own curiosity sat back and listened. Until he was asked a question. "What I want to ask you... is if you could bring back the Tarot Deck that once belonged to my mother." He wanted to help Ethic at this point, he felt an odd connection to him as though he was his own grandson, just as Ethic had mentioned that Mr. Taylor reminded him of his own grandfather.Mr. Taylor held out his hand, and in a cheery voice responded, "I can't make any promises lad, but I'll do my best." -

Strat, I really don't know how I want Mr. Taylor to respond to Ethic's little ... outburst. Right now, he'll just be silently listening to what Ethic has to say, just like Ethic did for him, he might back away when Ethic starts radiating energy, but he won't be going anywhere. Basically, Mr. Taylor wants to treat Ethic, like Ethic just treated him, unless Ethic asks for advice. In which case, Mr. Taylor would love to give off some folksy wisdom. So don't be afraid to post again tonight if you want to expand on the idea and just assume that Mr. Taylor is quietly listening.- 1735 replies

"Just out of curiosity.... Do you think you'd be able to do it again... like, at will?" Mr. Taylor shrugged, "I honestly have no idea, my dear boy. But, if I don't try it out, then I won't be able to do it for sure, so let's give it a shot. Now what did you have in mind for me to try it out on?" -

"Mr.Taylor..." He began "Forgive me if I heard you wrong... But did you mention turning back time just now?" Mr. Taylor turned back to Ethic, he hadn't actually given it all too much though. You know with his mind focused on just dying and all. "Well, I've only done it once." Mr. Taylor sighed in relief, he was happy that Ethic hadn't asked him about his death. "I can't really say I know how it works, it sort of just happened, I suppose." -

That wasn't the entire point of the post, again there was a lot I wanted to do there, the recovery of the bag and most importantly building his character a little more, but it was something I thought the post could accomplish as an afterthought (admittedly it wasn't a main focus of the post and you'd probably have to be a detective to figure out I even had that thought.) But, yeah, I didn't think you'd want him to get his powers back, just the actual physical cards. Since, you could still have the council reject you. However, just to clarify Mr. Taylor's powers, no the thing he is reversing doesn't have to be witnessed by him and it doesn't need to have happened recently. If Mr. Taylor understands what he's restoring should look like (i.e. a bookshelf, a closed book, cards) to a certain extent and he can currently see the object. Think of the amulet of urobos that you suggested, I'd say it'd probably work more like that.- 1735 replies

Stratos, one of the reasons I had Mr. Taylor tell Ethic about what happened was so that Ethic would find out about Mr. Taylor's power and may be able to realize that Mr. Taylor could restore the cards. However, I totally understand if you want him to journey on without his powers for a while.- 1735 replies

Yeah, I like playing really out there characters. Playing as a bad ass, yet noble knight is kind of boring to me, though I do know those characters need to exist, they don't really appeal to me. Though if you want me to switch him up a bit to fit into the RP better I have no problem doing that. It's really the character that matters to me, i.e. who he is, not really the minor details, so I can make him popular in his area of town, or even just to the patrons of the bar he works at (I can have him be owned by an inn owner.) And how he learned how to play the harp would be a spoiler, something I have an idea of, but I'm not sure if I want to let go of that secret just yet.

Mr. Taylor kept moving towards the spill. Then he saw it. His old hat and bag, his suspicions were confirmed, this is definitely where he died. Mr. Taylor picked up his hat and put it back on, then threw his bag over his shoulder. He hadn't had his possessions in quite a long time. But, that was hardly what was on his mind. The pool of blood had mostly dried now, but in some of the deeper areas, where the majority of the blood had gathered, retained wetness. Mr. Taylor couldn't help, but stare he heard Ethic arrive behind him, but barely payed him any mind. Then, a single tear fell from Mr. Taylor's face into the pool. It wasn't a tear of sorrow. Nor, was it a tear of joy. It was a tear of fear. Mr. Taylor had done his best to forget the moment of his own demise, since it had happened. Sure, he'd mention what happened in passing, but he was sure to never go in to vivid detail and often tried to change the subject as soon as it got brought up. However, that moment hadn't stopped playing in his head since it happened. His mortality had become apparent to him in his older age, his slowness, decreased health, they were painful reminders to him of his own approach towards death. However, the act of his life being ripped from him, by some ... some stranger. The idea was terrifying to Mr. Taylor, he hated that it had happened. He remembered feeling so helpless, so insignificant. But, still he knew he had to face his fear, he knew he had to open up about it. "Ethic ..." he began his voice less cheerful, then usual, it was solemn and quiet, with a slight tremble. "This is where it happened. Where Marcus killed me." He turned to Ethic, more tears building in his face, "We had a pact, if I helped him find the bottom, then he wouldn't harm me." The pain continued growing in his face, but Mr. Taylor continued, "Then we were attacked by a group of shadow monsters after a bookshelf had been knocked over. I used some power, to turn back time, which re-sealed the books and removed the shadow monsters." The tears began and Mr. Taylor's voice began to become shattered, but still he kept on going, "Then ... then my memory was gone, at least a good bit of it. I had never felt so old, so confused. I ... I unknowingly called off the pact. This upset Marcus, and that's when it happened." Mr. Taylor deftly cleared his throat, he was a little embarrassed, but he knew the boy had a good heart, and he needed to get that off of his chest. He cleared his throat and wiped his eyes, then continued, "A stab to the throat and the kidney. I was helpless." He stopped, he couldn't retain eye-contact any longer, "I've never felt so helpless in my entire life. I know my age has been catching up with me it's just ..." He paused again, and decided to look Ethic in the eyes, "It's just that I'm not ready, I'm not ready for any of this Ethic. I want to help, I can't bear to stand on the side-lines when those monsters attack. It's just that I don't have anything left, what can an old man do against such reckless hate? What can I do to starve off the demons of hell." The tears started to show again, for the first time since Mr. Taylor had returned from the grave, he had lost himself. He had cried and whined in front of someone young enough to be his own grandchild. But, it felt good, he was relieved to be rid of the stress, to be rid of all of the emotions that had been eating him. He felt renewed and let out a sigh of relief. "I'm sorry for that little ... show," his voice returned to the normal Mr. Taylor, chipper and cheerful. "I just couldn't hold it all back any longer. But, we really must get moving, the group isn't going to wait for us, forever." -

Mr. Taylor nodded and grabbed his cane to keep moving forward, however as he walked towards Ethic a strange smell passed his nose, it smelled like blood. He quickly looked to his left and noticed that some distance away laid a massive pool of blood. "Hold on lad I think ... I've found something!" After the declaration he turned and headed in the direction of the blood. He wasn't sure if he was right, but the place seemed oddly ... familiar. -
Alright I'll give making a character a shot. Character Name: Oarloff Race: Half-Ogre Class: Bard/Fighter (not sure which would fit the character more) Appearance and Age: Oarloaff is a giant half-ogre, who appears to be around middle-aged for his species. He stands roughly 8'6", has a HUGE belly, and is often dirty and unruly. He never really wears clothes instead wearing tattered rags that just cover the essentials. Despite all of this Oarloff doesn't really look intimidating instead giving off the persona of a huge goofy teddy bear. Personality Overview: Oarloff is commonly known in his village as the biggest idiot in town. Despite being a giant he is a coward and will often try to avoid a fight at all costs. If he were forced into a fight he'd likely use a giant club, just because a weapon like that would require no skills and allow him to easily smash his enemies. His voice is dumb and goofy, however it is enjoyable to be around and always provides a good laugh. Oarloff is also a klutz and often messes up on even the most simple chores. A simpleton at heart Oarloff loves animals and tries to keep as man pets as he can find, caring for them as if they were his on children. If Backstory: Oarloff has been a slave for as long as he can remember. He was found as an infant abandoned outside of his village and was picked up by a villager who decided to take him in. His slavery isn't on horrible terms, his master and the rest of the town for that matter love him, despite his inability to perform manual labor. The reason for the love affair is because of Oarloff's natural ability to create beautiful music from the harp. Often Oarloff is found at an inn or tavern after night, playing and singing (usually a comedic tune in a monotone, yet funny voice) happily for the patrons. ((I figure he'll be easy enough to work in, since you can have him in almost any normal village. If the next town you guys are in doesn't allow slavery than he can just be the village idiot, who was raised by the town and is super poor, yet loved.))

Under the Hill - First Circle: Judgement

Mr. Taylor noted Ethic's slowed movement. Mr. Taylor was doing exactly what he had been trying to avoid to do, get in the way. "Ethic, lad don't slow down on my account, if you can get there and help then do it." Mr. Taylor finally placed his cane on the ground and started walking, he couldn't keep running, the exhaustion was just too great. "Don't worry about me, I've been on my own quite a bit since I've gotten hear and I'll catch up on my own watch." -

"Mr.Taylor! that scream just know... Maybe... we should circle back and see what's going on with Rose and the others... I'm pretty sure that panther is to preoccupied now to pursue us..." Mr. Taylor stopped and knelt down, all this running made his bones ache. He didn't necessarily need the cane to get around, he was still in fairly good shape for his age, but it did help his back out, something he wished he had remembered while running from the panther. But, still Ethic was right, this was no time for an old man to complain about his back. Mr. Taylor gave Ethic a firm nod, "We'll have to be careful though, just promise me you won't do anything foolish, I don't want you to end up dead." Mr. Taylor sighed quickly remembering the different rules death played by in this world. "I mean I know it's not permanent, but trust me son, it's not something you would want to do." With that Mr. Taylor turned around and started jogging back in the direction they came, grimacing with each step. "If you don't remember the way back, just follow me I've done my best to keep track of our turns in my head. If I don't get us exactly there, then I'll get us fairly close." -
The Awakened - First Pillar (IC Thread)
Supernovae replied to Flux's topic in Unofficial Official RP Club's General
Jude felt Zweiss helping him back up after his display of power. Truly this man was fit to lead, if he wasn't then why would he have been blessed with such a great gift? After Zweiss had fully helped him to his feet, Jude looked over to him, the fierceness in his eyes were still there, but there was also another emotion on display, respect. "You are truly blessed, Zweiss, I look forward to seeing that power on true display when we face the enemies of the Awakened." With that he grabbed he put his cloak back on, but left his shades, there was no more point in concealing his face. His days of running and hiding were over, he knew he was heading to a place of providence. A place where his skills would be appreciated, not persecuted. Truly Jude was heading towards his own Utopia. -

Under the Hill - First Circle: Judgement
Supernovae replied to Notus's topic in Unofficial Official RP Club's General
Mr. Taylor quickly turned to Ethic, "I'm afraid we're dead weight in this battle, my dear boy, we do need to get out of the way, we'll only be a distraction and we could end up getting someone killed." A quiet pain built in Mr. Taylor's eyes as he said this, he wanted to stay and help, as soon as he had arrived in the hill he had always had to run from his troubles, it was truly humiliating. But, he knew the truth in his words, these were good people and when he or Ethic got into trouble he knew the others wouldn't hesitate to help out, even at there own risk. Mr. Taylor turned to Phantom and let out a quiet thank you, then turned in the other direction to get away from both the Panther and the Wolf. "Come on Ethic, let's get moving!' -
((Fixed)) Clint let out a sigh of relief as he grabbed Erick's hand and shook it. "Nah, man no hard feelings," Clint turned to walk away, but quickly looked back. "But, next time we go at it, you better bring your all. Cause, next time I don't plan on going easy." Clint let out a playful grin, then turned back and started walking away from the battlefield in order to find a nice place to watch the next battle.
-
After the battle Clint quickly called his partners back to there containers, he didn't expect things escalate after his attack, Pimparella's attack was designed to do damage, but it certainly wasn't a kill shot. He caught up to Erick as quickly as he could after the battle and McCarthy's speech. "Hey look man, my bad about the way that fight went," he paused not sure what he had done wrong, Clint was used to apologizing, but he almost always knew what it was for. "I didn't mean for things to go like that, but that beldum you got that thing sure is tough." he paused again knowing he had to bring up the ralts. "And yeah, your ralts going through that change, that things gonna be a real competitor when things get going."

The lightning smashed into the tiny fighter, Clint could tell it hurt, but Rocky was tough and he knew he could take more, as for his opponents other move, the switch Clint could only smirk. "You know when I got here, a lot of you guys thought I was pretty dumb," Clint called out to Erick, "And hey maybe I was, maybe I still I am, but if you think a little switcheroni can beat out pimparella, well you got another thing coming." Clint took one last drag of his cigarette then tossed on the ground ... right next to the Ralts. "Now Rock, go take cover!" Clint snapped as loudly as he could as the Tyrogue quickly ran as far from the Ralts as it could, he knew this wouldn't be pretty. The ground started shaking, and before the whole stadiums eyes the giant snake emerged from the ground, directly under the Ralts.
-
Clint gave a chuckle at Erick's comment, "Nah, man not at a--" But before he could finish his thought Erick started barking out orders to his GAOs and his Onix was struck head on by the small metal like creature. The attack didn't do all too much, but a small crack could be seen on Pimparella's rocky hide where the impact was made. "Well shit, you weren't kidding about going first," Clint chuckled while taking another quick drag, "Alright, boys time to get this party started, you know what to do!" With that the Onix slithered underground and Rocky took aim at the small metal creature, jumping high in the air, with a foot extended in order to release a good kick.

Mr. Taylor got up as quickly as his old body would allow him, and grabbed his cane, he knew he wouldn't be able to run as fast as the others, the only thing he'd do is slow them down. Fortunately for Mr. Taylor though it seemed as though Rose and Ethic were more interested in fighting. Rose lobbed a bloodied knife at the creature and Ethic called upon some sort of white energy. Mr. Taylor couldn't help but think back to the encounter with the lion and the shadow creatures, hadn't he used cards of some sort to fight? "Rose... it's pointless trying to fight that thing... Let's just grab Enya and get the hell out of here..." Mr. Taylor sighed, there was no point in continuing to stand still, all he could do was hope that the lava gave him enough time to get away and so, he grabbed his cane and started moving. -
