  1. Maximus caught his spear and was about to turn around and strike, when he heard a familiar. He turned to see Aaron, make a stand. The Ekarder couldn't help but smile, finally the young boy was ready to lead. What he saw next completely removed any shred of confidence he had in the boy. Instead of facing them as a man, he stripped them of their free will. Took whatever soul they may have and made it his. Even if they were monsters, no one deserved that fate. Maximus glared at Aaron. He couldn't be sure if he himself had free will any more. If it were that easy to control fifty of those monsters, than how easy would it be to control he and his companions. He shook his head at the boy, knowing the only way to prove his own freedom was an act of open defiance. "No. I don't know what you think you're doing, but you can't truly be that much of a fool. You think Rossephus wouldn't keep tabs on his own spies? If we keep those monsters around it only relays our position to him," he sighed, hoping that Aaron would be convinced enough to release those monsters.
  2. Clint shrugged. "I guess it doesn't really matter. We can battle right here for all I care."
  3. Clint sighed. Erick was right, this 'celebration' sucked. He turned to the table, "Alright guys this is just lame, if we ain't drinking or actually havin' any fun then we should at least be training or somethin'." He looked down at his spheres, with somewhat mixed feelings. It was becoming apparent that Pimparella was starting to fall behind and after seeing Enya's sea-monster it was clear that she wasn't queen bee any more. To make matters worse his newest GAO, Diva, was just ... the worst. He saw a little fight in her, but ultimately it had been curb-stomped by Kenny's newest GAO. However, there was a bright spot. With his newest form Rocky was definitely a dangerous GAO at this point. He wasn't sure of the new strength that Rocky had in him, but it was possible that it was his strongest fighter at this point. Clint looked back to the table, "Can't we just get out of here? We should be battling and training. In case someone else attacks the base with a giant ass bird."
  4. Maximus kept digging furiously. With each passing swipe of his shovel the Ekarder found his mind to be more at ease. It was an odd thing, really. Manual labor always seemed to soothe the man, bringing him out of even the worst of his dark moments. Dark moments... As the young lad kept digging he couldn't help remove that though from his mind. There was something eerie going on, almost as if he was being watched. Finally, Maximus couldn't take it anymore as he decided to glance away from his work, just for a moment. And that's when he saw them. They were like creatures straight from a nightmare and their were more than he could possibly count. The young Ekarder knew he didn't have much time. If he died, so be it he deserved as much for not being able to protect Rodriguez or any of the others who had been captured. But, the people inside were far too important to fall now. Maximus picked up the shovel and made his move. The young Ekarder leaped from the hole he had dug and tossed the shovel directly at the nearest monster. Then reached for his spear. Of course he had left it inside. He turned back to the house and made a beeline. "RUN!!! GET THE HELL OUT OF HERE!" He called while charging back to the house.
  5. Maximus nodded at the alchemist and quickly made his way outside, searching for a soft patch of dirt. When he found the patch of dirt he looked down, still in disbelief about what had happened he closed his eyes to hold back any more tears. Then he made his first stab into the ground. The stab into the dirt was aggressive and almost reckless. He continued with the same motion, furiously ripping the dirt from the ground and tossing it over his shoulder with reckless abandon.
  6. Everything seemed like a blur. Before the young Ekarder could realize what was happening the beast had made it's move. It had abducted several of his companions, including Esmeralda. And to make matters worse it had killed the one man he had grown to like in that city. Before shit had hit the fan, Rodriguez was the only man to show Maximus any kindness. And now he had been mutilated, destroyed, and cooked like a rabbit. The others had begun talking, but Maximus couldn't listen. His ears were too busy ringing. The only word he had heard from Aaron was 'burial.' The Ekarder took his spear and stabbed it into the ground. "Give. Me. A shovel." The words came out like venom. His rage was hardly a secret to anyone in the room. His face was a beat red, while his body was trembling. But, while the rest of his body showed his rage, those who could see his eyes would understand his sadness."He ... he was my friend, if anyone should bury him it should be me."
  7. That would work and we can just have the cadets talk about the contest. Maybe some us cadets respect Kenny's Emolga due to the ass-beating all of our GAO's received from it?
  8. I'm curious about Marcus's power. Do stronger murderies give him more strength? Or is it a sort of 'flat rate' where he gets the same boost from each person he kills?
  9. Jude reached into his cloak and pulled out his sword, looking at it's rather abysmal condition. Spending the better part of the last year running from town to town and hiding out in the woods didn't leave him with many useful possessions."I don't suppose you'd have any weapons. I know I've grown famous by slaughtering senators with my blade, but I doubt the lord would mind me putting a bullet in his foes."
  10. Mr. Taylor looked back to the room he and Phantom had just escaped from. What a fool he'd been, of course the food here would be a trap. "I'm ... I'm quite sorry Phantom. I was weak. But, you must understand, it was only for a moment." The old man sat down for a moment to try and recuperate some of his strength and figure out a plan. A part of him yearned to go back to the room for one more delicious slice of meat, but the screams kept his yearning hunger at bay. He looked around. Nothing, but darkness. Clearly his eyes wouldn't be of any use to them at this point in time and they were too recently removed from the Phantom Zone to warp back in. He breathed in, infuriated with his current options. "The air!" The old man exclaimed as though a light bulb had just went off in his head, "That's it my dear boy. Don't you smell all of this food, if that's their trap then we can just avoid it." Mr. Taylor began walking about and sniffing the air. "This way, the smell isn't as strong over here." With that the old man began to move down the dark alley-way, continuously sniffing the air to make sure he was heading away from any food.
  11. Maximus quickly glanced over at Matrim,"No one's fighting, well not yet." He then looked back to what he could now see was just a boy, albeit a very creepy looking boy. "And yeah, this lance here? I don't think I'll be putting it away. Not until you state your business." The Ekarder kept himself in a defensive stance, making sure to keep his weapon between the boy and his own body. He wasn't sure what that ... thing was about to do, but he was sure that he didn't want to be mutilated by it.
  12. Maximus immediately dropped what he was doing when he heard Ko'luki scream. The Ekarder quickly drew his weapon, the Steele Splinter, and charged into the other room. Maximus's eyes quickly found what had startled the alchemist. A stranger was sitting in this room. Without a moment's hesitation, Maximus aimed his Drake Lance at the man. "Speak your business and be quick about it. I have no quarrels with skewering a thief," the Ekarder spoke with venom in his tone, careful not to take his eyes off the man.
  13. Mr. Taylor immediately dropped the food and turned to Phantom, realizing what he'd just done. "We ... we should leave my dear boy." With that he made his way off of the table and onto the ground and picked up his walking stick. "Time is of the essence lad. Now let's move!" With that he began to run, as quickly as he could, back the way he and Phantom had entered.
  14. Oarloff smiled back at the goat. "Oh, Misturr Buttons you is just too much!" He looked down at the marking on his hand, while the smile turned to a look of utter confusion. "Does peoples like trees Misturr Buttons? Or is trees good at playing harps? I don't think trees can play harps since they don't have any hands. Or does they use their branches? Or does harp's come from trees? That's it Misturr Buttons isn't it! Harp's come from trees so now me silver tree will make me harp silver is that it?!"
  15. Mr. Taylor licked his lips and gave a little laugh. He looked down to Phantom, "You know lad, I know we're in the circle of gluttony, but you don't suppose that a little bite would hurt do you?" With that he grabbed a small bit of food off the table and took a bite. "Just one bite, my dear boy it can't kill us."
  16. Jude shook his head. "No. If her gifts are of use to you, then she will be a utopian soon enough."
  17. Maximus shrugged. "I guess it's not a big deal if you're the leader. Just don't push it. If we're going to be traveling together I'd prefer not to heed orders from a tyrant."
  18. Mister Buttons: Oarloff absentmindedly stuck a finger in his mouth as he tried to answer the goat's question. "What does me want to know?" he mumbled to himself as he continued to play with his lips flipping them back and forth. Suddenly the ogre pulled the finger out of his mouth, stood up and proclaimed, "Oh, oh! Me knows what me wants to know. Misturr Buttons can you teach me some magic, so me can be a wizard."
  19. Mr. Taylor looked over to Phantom and nodded as he headed into the room. The old man figured it would be safe to investigate while he was still in the Phantom Zone. The old explorer made his way to the table and pulled himself up in order to investigate.
  20. Maximus ran furiously after the boy after he continued to complain about everything that was happening. "The only lunacy I see is a man willing to risk the lives of everyone on this god damn planet because he doesn't think he's good enough. So what if it's not true? So what if you're not the chosen one?" Maximus pointed at the ruined city, "This city is in ruin and if what these people are saying is true, it won't be the last. Are you really going to run and hide as men, women, hell even children are slaughtered in the streets?" Maximus sighed and turned to walk away, realizing he might have gone too far, then stopped himself and turned back to Aaron one last time. "Just answer me this. If you give up now and these people are right, then the world ends. But, if they're wrong and you aren't really the chosen one and all of this is a huge misunderstanding, tell me, what exactly do you lose?"
  21. Mr. Buttons Oarloff grabbed the ribbon, "Oh is it a secret that you can talk Misturr Buttons? Papa says secrets is bad, but me no think so." He looked again, examining the ribbon. "So what does you do Misturr Buttons? Are you a wizard?!?"
