I really can't see any Legendaries playing any role in the main storyline (apart from Arceus... and that mysterious voice which I'm assuming is a legendary). I do hope that some sort of side-quest plot is involved with them if they are to be incorporated post-game (and not just straight behind those X doors)

Which gym leader do you think is the weakest so far?

Julia and Radomus for me. I don't think Radomus really benefits much from his field effect while we can abuse it by using Nasty Plot to set up. -
I would love one of Serra or Saphira.

Nope she leads with Tentacruel and Nidoqueen now. Her Muk has been replaced with Venusaur. EQ is not going to do as much damage unfortunately due to the field effect.

I'm a really mediocre player myself (Heck I never knew how EVs, IVs and breeding worked before I played Reborn). I must say 'nerfing' the leaders are slightly disappointing. Even with a weak combination of Pokemon, there is always a way to defeat the leaders - be it using the field effects to your advantage, having a temporary member that assists you in the battle (I personally don't like this method and always try to win with my 'chosen' team of six) etc. You are smarter than the AI after all - so thinking a little may help to reach victory.

Based on my first playthrough, nearly all the gym leaders gave me trouble (there weren't many leaders that I defeated at the first attempt). I'll have to say Noel was the most difficult for me. Oh how I underestimated that blasted Cinccino (who is now an extremely good member in one of my teams, so I guess I should be thankful to Noel) ...and as I celebrate the fall of the chinchilla, the Flame Orb Guts Swellow comes in. FML -
The Sinnoh Elite Four has a member who uses Bug Types, so that's that

If you mean the 'X doors', no one is sure what the purpose of them is - but I'm pretty sure they are not there for pure decoration (there was a thread about this not too long ago - so you might be interested in searching for it). Personally, I think there are going to be Legendary Pokemon waiting for us behind those X doors - which will probably be available post-game. -

I think that's the only trainer that gives you an item afterwards... I don't think I've come across anyone else that does so, and I talk to every trainer after defeating them (please correct me if I'm wrong though) -

Chrysolia is the worst for me. Borderline between Opal and Obsidia are slightly laggy too - as well as near the giant crack in central Obsidia.

That's a gender-related issue. I can't remember which one was which, but one's shiny form is blue and the other one is black.

I don't think this is the most suitable thread to ask your question - but yes I do recommend grinding for the next gym leader. You'll be partnered up once you progress with the story a bit more - and I recommend using that opportunity to grind. It's incredibly efficient because you will be automatically healed.

Keep in mind that the Fairy type was introduced... not too long ago, so I guess Adrienn is the only leader viable for that type. Florinia is bound to return - because we still don't know how Titania traumatized her. I hope the four dormitory buddies unite in the future (Julia, Amaria, Titania and Florinia) - that would be quite nice to see personally. Shade is also likely to come back in the next episode - so that should be fun to expect. Speaking of 'gym leaders that haven't made an appearance for a while', am I the only one that misses Serra? I really hope she will show up again
