"You are most certainly correct, but there is part of me hoping my knowledge of Caelum won't end up being useful in this fight of ours. It's a long shot, but if we could succeed in this rebellion of ours without leaving Dragao, without involving more innocents than we have to... Wouldn't that be lovel-" Terrin began, before a familiar and Klareny voice interrupted them, as he felt hands on his shoulders. At about 170cm, Terrin was somewhat shorter than Klaren, although due to his former training was actually reasonably well built and wide from the muscle. "Why yes, I did indeed mention you, Klaren. Me and Feri were just discussing how we both learnt magic, and it occurred to me that the two of you haven't properly met." Terrin said politely. Ever since forming his unlikely friendship from mocking Hoshiko, the mage had truthfully loosened up a but, and while Klaren was strange, he was, in Terrin's opinion, one of their most useful allies in battle. And strange often just meant interesting, so he figured he may as well treat the monk nicely for now. Mages do have to stick together, when their little band had only three. -

"I'm sure there are plenty of people that would, in my position, say that if I've done in 7 years what you've done in 20 you're clearly lacking. Naturally, those people would be morons." Terrin just laughed, giving the fellow mage a warm smile. "I've met quite a few mages in my time, and the only self taught mage I ever met was my teacher. And from what I understand, it took him a lot longer than 20 years to get even where you are. Self taught mages are so rare because it's not something feasible to learn on your own, I think. So I would say you're an incredibly talented man indeed. And if you're gonna be around other mages like me and our team's token monk, you'll only grow." He explained. He felt like he was talking to someone younger than him, giving a lecture to an apprentice, despite this man being roughly his magical equal and far superior to him in years. But Terrin had a great respect for people he thought deserved it, and Feri had very quickly just become one of those people. "I was actually training to be a soldier. A Knight in Caelum's army, that's what nobles tend to do back home when they have too many older siblings to have any chance of leading their family." Terrin admitted. "I like to think I'm still pretty strong and could handle myself with a lance if I picked one up. But one day at training, some guy, from a family just slightly more noble than my own, showed up to watch our training. Watched me and told my commander to discharge me immediately, that I was wasted soldiering. Apparently he saw I had an affinity for attracting nature spirits that I wasn't aware of, and so I gave up soldiering and started mage training the next day." Terrin explained, before laughing and flexing his arm muscles a bit to demonstrate his apparent strength. "And here I am now." -

"So you're saying I don't fear the dark or dark mages, so neither do the sprits I call with my magic? Isn't that a lovely thought." Terrin just smiled at this. He didn't particularly believe it, but it sounded like a nice concept, if nothing else. The mage flipped ahead a few pages in his tome to where he'd obviously been writing most recently, the scribbles seemed to be about utilising lance-wielding stances to better magic use. "If you don't mind my asking, where did you learn your magic? My understanding is that magic is taught very differently outside Caelum, so I'm curious to know how things are done in Dragao." -

"Even further curiosity than that, I would think, is how the spirits of all three shy from those of darkness but... I suppose flare up against those of light?" Terrin wondered aloud. "My teacher once told me that it was because the three classes of anima magic embody the spirit of the goddess Ignis. Thunder to cause a spark, wind to fan the flames, and fire as your end result. So they embraced and were emboldened by the light, but shunned the darkness. I never really believed it, but a nice little story, I suppose." Terrin just shrugged. "He was a Druid, quite versed in Dark magics. Always said I seemed to call on a certain kind of spirit, ones which didn't falter when faced with darkness, but perhaps he was just motivating me." As Terrin continued to muse on the subject, he just sighed. He hadn't spoken of, or even thought about, his magical education in a very long time. There wasn't that much he missed about Caelum. His mother and the old Druid were about the only things he felt bad about leaving behind him, in truth. -

"Sounds like the sort of thing that might convince a young man to start learning wind magic. If I had've been told that 8 years ago maybe I would have pursued wind instead of thunder." He observed with a bit of smile. "Maybe it's just a Caelum thing, or maybe it was just my teacher, but when I learnt there wasn't particularly much focus on history of magic. Anyway, Thunder can't make people fly, it's mostly just for, y'know, zapping." He added with a bit of a laugh. Terrin pulled out his own tome, which was just a basic Thunder tome, and opened it up. Inside there were a fair number of messy annotations scribbled about, mostly about adjusting potency or accuracy or somesuch. -

Terrin glanced over at Saffron. He wanted an oppurtunity to get to know the Princess better, but as he began to walk over, he saw Meredith join her. While he also certainly had a want to get to know the soldier, he had no wish to disturb them, so instead adjusted his course to the tree Feri had taken refuge against. "I don't believe we've had a chance to speak since when we first met. Care for the company of a fellow student of magic?" He asked the man politely, glancing at the tome he was reading. -

I like how you appear to be the only person that picked up on this part of the post because I was honestly expecting a lot of discussion about that either here or in the status topic. You would likely need another person/computer for that sort of thing. If you minimize/click out of the window while online, which you have to inevitably do when running 2 windows, it can confuse the server into thinking you've disconnected which causes problems for everyone. At current battle replays are not something we've considered implementing. Kuro's not a he. And yes, they did make such an announcement, a lot has happened with regards to the team over that time and who is working on online is something that HAS changed a few times. You're all stuck with me on it for now, though. While I have been spending a lot of time trying to weed out as many crashes as possible, I can't test every situation, some may fall through the cracks (any crashes people find once the system eventually release we will of course attempt to fix asap), and disconnects will be an inevitability, not to mention we can't predict if/when the server might have problems and kick people out, which will almost always cause crashes. That being said Reborn's backup save system should have you covered if worst comes to worst and, for what it's worth, over the time I've been working on getting this working and debugging it, I have had my Reborn crash way more times than I can count as I've been fixing said crashes. And not once have I had any damage to my save file. If you suck you'll be happy to know we've not considered implementing win/loss tracking at current, I suck too.- 50 replies

If I was incharge of PULSE selection for Meteor, I would do it basically the opposite to that. Ametrine KNOWS how to deal with Snow, they get it all the time. Coral KNOWS how to deal with Storms, it will happen on occasion. If you really wanna fuck with people, make it stormy in Ametrine and snow in Coral, tbh.

"It gives me much more confidence to hear you say that." Terrin smiled as he firmly shook Feri's hand, before turning to look over at Meredith, and then Saffron. "Perhaps I'm a few months too early then, but at this point, I don't think there's much else left for me to say. Long live the Queen." He announced stoutly, trying to capture at least some modicum of the raw inspiration which came from Meredith's earlier speech with his words. -

"I'm sure we can talk plenty about poses later." Terrin murmured to Hoshiko with a small smile, before turning to their new company and bowing. "My name is Terrin, it is a pleasure to meet all three of you." He said calmly, but furrowed his brow somewhat as he returned to full standing length and listened to Meredith's speech. "Well said, very well said. But alas, I cannot so easily dismiss Feri's pessimism here." He sighed, shaking his head. "Fear or not, there are of course a very many people with no love for Saffron's uncle, that's why we're here. However there are also very few people that aren't put off by even the slightest mention of her father. Indeed, while I hope you don't take offense at this Saffron, even I have my reservations. Can I be certain you won't be a worse influence on Dragao than your uncle? Of course I can't." The mage folded his arms before continuing. "However, you have not given us any reason to mistrust you yet. And unless you do, I'm of a mind to consider this chance meeting of ours the best thing that could have happened. For the Misguided Children, for Dragao... For the entire land." With that, he simply nodded at the trio and offered his hand in their general direction for a shake, to see if any of the three would take him up on it. That may have come off a bit sharp, I'm certainly hardly as good at rousing speeches as Meredith... I hope they got what I meant. Last thing I want is to piss off our potential greatest allies... He thought, but didn't let his nerves show through, that was one of the very basics a young noble in Caelum learnt, don't show weakness. -
In fact, I can't think of very much that would be more challenging than that. Well, except maybe if someone decided to tease you with E17 content. That would seriously suck, huh? So, as most of you will know, we at Reborn Dev Team HQ have been working on a certain feature for a while now. That feature is Some of you will also be aware that, since shortly before I took over leading the Dev Team, I also took the reins of working on implementing this feature. I've decided we'll do some show and tell on this, by showing off one of my most recent tests of the system. This should be familiar to any of you that have tinkered with Alexandre's Pokémon online scripts, or indeed played any fangame that has utilised them. So we can just go right ahead and click on battle and... What is this? A submenu? This is new. The system for challenges that the online scripts had built in was just both sides sorta having to challenge eachother at the same time. I thought that was pretty eh, so here we are. And I suppose the only place to go from here is Challenge my good friend Dudey McTest. All I need to do is wait for his response to my challenge... This man is trying to drown me! Wait, uhh... Does this mean the underwater FIELD? Well that's even more new. Y'know what, lets start over, this time I'll wait for the challenge and he can challenge ME. Yeah. Now THIS is more like it. So I guess I just click yes and... Well I'll be. They're all here! Even [REDACTED] and [REDACTED] and the Starlight Arena! We even have choices for no field and to randomise it if, as Ame has put it, you want to risk "getting seriously memed on" by the randomisation. Now, what to choose? Seeing as we were speaking about getting memed on... Well, I'm a simple guy. I like Brilliance. And Mirrors. And HAX. And realising I don't have a witty idea for how to reveal we find out the Champion's identity in E16. So I guess all that's left now is to start the fight. I hope you've all enjoyed this little insight into what's being worked on with regards to online, and I do hope this little insight into a feature that will be shipping with E17 has managed to just ever so slightly whet your appetites some more for E16.

Terrin wasn't paying attention to the trio they had saved. He was too busy staring at his tome, thinking to the incredible power he had just managed to conjure up, somehow. Perhaps the spirits were angry they missed their mark earlier? Perhaps it was his worries about imminent death? Surely it couldn't have been... The pose? "Hoshiko, I can't believe I'm saying this but great job there, some brilliant teamwork." The mage remarked genuinely as he turned to her, having also admired how true her shot had been after his incredible surge of magical power. From her comments right before the attack, it had seemed almost as if... She hadn't even realised she was being mocked? It seemed almost TOO cruel to inform her she was now. As long as she didn't start spouting off about the Goddess again, that is. I suppose it doesn't hurt if she thinks we're a bit likeminded and I have an excuse for some hilarious antics... He thought, before striking another heroic pose in acknowledgement of their teamwork. -

Y'know, as annoying as she is, that girl is a really skilled marksman... I'm sure she's feeling as energised as I am right now, it wouldn't hurt to rile her up some more, though... Terrin thought to himself, although in truth, he was just rationalising the decision he had already made to use his newfound vigour to mock the lady archer some more. Terrin leaped up into the air, most of the electricity from before still crackling around him as the nature spirits had not yet left him, and strikes another pose as he lands. "Prepare to be smited by my amazing power, enemy of JUSTICE!" He announced as he landed across from Maris, flinging his tome open in the most exaggerated manner possible. If this doesn't rile up Hoshiko enough to land a great hit on this woman, I'm probably dead... Well, it was fun while it lasted. Terrin shook his head at the thought, focusing on keeping his stance workable despite his exaggeration. As he begun his incantation, he didn't neglect to wink at Hoshiko, just in case there was some doubt that he was mocking her. Jump gracefully over to R4, smite the magic sword lady and try not to miss this time, I struck a pose and everything c'mon. -

Terrin gulped. It was now or never, Ecquis had gone in and landed a good hit on the enemy, and Terrin could spot a magic sword a mile away. So this was a counterattack he might actually be able to take. He glanced over at Meredith, sighing with relief seeing she had been healed. "Thank goodness." He muttered to himself. Seeing her display of power earlier, the mage had already developed a fast respect for the soldier, especially knowing the hard work it took to be a soldier. "But... Now is my moment. I hope." He muttered, before running forward as far as he could, looking over at Klaren as he moved past. "If I end up running into my own death out there, try not to pray too hard for me!" He remarked with a smirk. When he reached his new position, he gave Hoshiko a nod. The two hadn't gotten off to the best start, but they were on the same side and, whatever differences they may have, now was the time for teamwork. Move to R5 and, despite it being the time for teamwork, strike a similar heroic pose to mock Hoshiko. -
God dammit I use ability that sacrifices my impressiveish passive healing (something which may have been useful against a boss that hits res) to boost my skill so I don't miss, and what happens? I bloody miss. Also should Nature Spirits be 0/11? I thought it only returned the borrowed strength back to my str from skill, not my entire skill stat, so it should be 0/4, right? Also boo I was hoping 11 effective skill would give me some really good hit chances but I guess that's my fault for not doing the calcs. On the bright side, got another pretty great leve up.

"Hey, thanks for giving me room to finish this one off." Terrin nodded at Klaren as he ran behind the monk to make his move. Terrin didn't like holy men at the best of time, and he would be lying if he said he wasn't a little put off by the man's... strange interests. But having been watching this battle, it was quite clear that he was, in fact, a very valuable asset on the field of battle, and he should at least be treated as such for now. He gave Luka a nod as well as he got in position, aknowledging that it WAS his idea for him and the monk to clean this one up. "Well then, it would sure be tragic if I fumbled this shot... No shame in asking for help, methinks." Terrin whispered to himself, although Klaren could no doubt hear the mage due to his proximity. "Stance, aim, spirits, strike. Stance, aim, spirits, strike." He quietly repeated to himself, before adjusting his stance and beginning the incantation of his thunder magic against the wounded cavalier. Move to W5, activate Nature Spirits, and then attack Cavalier 4 with Thunder. -

"Y'know, everyone over here looks like they're having fun. I've been told I could do with letting my hair down every so often." Terrin said to himself, although loudly enough for those nearby to his new position, namely Hoshiko and Klaren, to hear him. Although he was mainly speaking about the ever giddy Klaren, of course. "'Bout time I have some fun of my own. And I think I see just the opportunity." He grinned with a slight bloodlust, adrenaline still pumping through him from seeing Meredith's amazing display earlier, as he glared down at the gravely wounded soldier and flung open his tome. Move to AA6 and attack Soldier 2.
