  2. So with the April Corocoro leaks, it seems Volcanion will be offically released quite soon, aince you obtain it from preordering tickets for the movie which comes out in July. So, within the next three or four months, Volcanion will finally be useable (in Japan and on Showdown!)!

But then there is that scan from corocoro that has all 720 pokemons in it, but no Volcanion.

Imagine if they distribute it only in gen 7 :P

I believe the most recent Corocoro leaks states it would distributed to the Gen VI games. I can't check for myself since I don't speak/write/understand Japanese.

  3. It should be noted that Clefable cannot learn Psychic naturally and requires the TM to do so, which we do not currently have access to. Furthermore, it cannot access Flamethrower until that TM is also collected, which is all the way at Charlotte, so (you didn't state how far you were) you could still be a long ways off from it.
  4. Finally made it to the infamous Chapter 5 of FE4... I'm gonna miss these guys.

Yeah, if there were one trend I could eliminate from FE, it would be the recurring deserts that punish you for using mounted units.

  5. I'm glad that Eufur is getting some early buffs, as it'll definitely help out! I guess I'll go ahead and remove some of those levels so I can pick up some of those moves in Episode 2, then. I look forward to seeing Se7en progress even further!
  6. Okay so then here's a short summary of my Eufur run: I tried to take my time and obtain some more evolutions this run. I caught a Goshee and trained that, as well as finally worked up my Elftik to a certain point somewhere for a certain thing to happen. I think that it will be very useful later on, given that ability. I even found what I'll call a "diamond in the rough," hidden in a certain city/town. I won't say what it is, but it is pretty cool. My main problem this run through, was, well, Eutur. The only thing it has going for it is that it is bulky. Eutur just wasn't very good in Chapter 1 at all. Grass is a very weak type when most of the mons you face are Bugs or Poison. I expect it to get better as time goes on, but the hardest hitting move it had for a while was the fortune HP Rock, which was a godsend, although it still took several turns to take down mons on the same or lower level with SE damage. I can tell at it will be more of a support oriented mon, but for now, Eutur falls flat due to the lack of support oriented moves. BDE is nice for taking threats down a peg, but Eutur still can't do much in the way of retaliation.
  7. Camerupt with Earth Power, and as stated above, fast, strong Psychics. Another option is to grab a Pokemon which can learn the move Mist to temporarily remove her field, allowing you to spam EQ and the like if you so desire. On that note, Magnezone is not availible until post-Radomus, so you cannot obtain Magnezone for several more badges. Magneton could be a solid choice, however.
  8. I'll clarify my point on hacking a bit more, but before I do, I must say, this discussion is being excellently and strangly civil about such a complex and intriguing issue. Good job, everyone! Anyways, when I was talking about hacking before, I mainly refering to the idea of "genning," which generally refers to the practice of artificially produced Pokémon which possess entirely legal and obtainable abilities, moves, and statistics, although it is unlikely that a person would obtain these through normal gameplay do to extraneous conditions or the massive time consumption. So basically it is again an extension of the idea of selective breeding, changing the creatures to better suit our valued traits, although the breeding portion is entirely eliminated for efficiency.

Except when your opponents use it, ugh.

  10. There's a point that I feel should probably be brought up in this discussion and I'm a little surprised it has yet to be so: selective breeding. For reference, I'll just use the standard definition on Wikipedia for selective breeding: "Selective breeding (also called artificial selection) is the process by which humans use animal breeding and plant breeding to selectively develop particular phenotypic traits (characteristics) by choosing which typically animal or plant males and females will sexually reproduce and have offspring together." This form of breeding has happened over millennia with most species we have encountered and domesticated over time, such as wheat and dogs based purely on the fact that those flora and creatures who possess traits more beneficial to humans, or whatever the current top of the ecosystem may be, are more likely to reproduce and survive than those who instead work against the current head. Humans have been a powerful force for thousands of years, with our ability to create fire, build large, defensive structures, and, the ever useful opposable thumb. So by working in coordination with the humans, the stronger, more beneficial creature will end up being able to survive longer and reproduce more, which is humanity's own way of influencing evolution. So by our very nature in working in coordination with these strange and grand creatures we call Pokémon, we will be slowly influencing their generations to be either stronger than before or obselete. This can be commonly exemplified in the actual actions of Pokémon breeding itself. Frankly, trainers are more likely to breed already strong Pokémon, such as Garchomp and Volcarona, than weaker ones, such as Sunflora and Surskit. Similarly, if you have a Pokémon with 31s in multiple IVs, you are more likely to breed this Pokémon than one with multiple 0s. So frankly, the process of competative breeding is then based on simply exponentially accalerating this process to be more beneficial in the present. There's nothing particularly wrong with this, and indeed, I believe it could lead to another question: which is more ethical- chain breeding or hacking in Pokemon? For the purpose of this discussion, we'll just say that hacked mons are genetically designed in the Pokémon specfically to have the greatest traits. While hacking is generally seen as the true moral problem of the two, it could be argued alternatively: hacking is more ethical as you will never have any "breejects," or imperfect Pokémon who then be unable to preform the task their masters had intended, so they are then released into the wild or wonder traded to a forgien land. Instead, the hacked Pokémon will always end up with the exact desired stats as that was how it was designed.
  11. Oh, I'm well aware, but still, the sooner I go over it the sooner I can delete this document that I've had hanging out my Google Docs.
  12. How about Sol for Solrock and Espeon, since they are both "Sun Pokemon?" I would say Volcarona too, but Volc already has Roost and Giga Drain and it has no need for that.
  13. That was the exact answer I expected, but I figured I might as well ask. Looks like my Roober run will be purposefully losing every major fight just to make sure I'm not missing anything... I'll also post my analysis of my Eufer run sometime tonight.
  14. Ending 1: Hook up with TimEnding 2: Hook up with Catherine Ending 3: Hook up with Looker In all seriousness, I guess this is the advantage of playing through the game with all the starters, as I am. I have to ask, although I don't expect and answer, is there a fight that earns you a different ending if you lose ? ending 3 all the way
  15. I was playing FE4 last night and I was once again reminded just how absurd FE hit chances are. Sylvia, who I was attempting to kill off so I wouldn't have to bother with her subpar children in Gen 2, she proceeded to dodge *6* consecutive 50% accurate Javelins Meanwhile, Ayra was shot by three Ballistas at a 15% chance to hit and nearly died.

It could be worse. I could be the XCOM hit chances. I can't tell you how many times I've missed key shots and ended up losing units in that game.

  16. Ugh, life is so time consuming.

  17. For anyone who has played FE4, I'm looking for some adivce on my Levin pairing. Should I match him with Fury and create the god that is Levin!Ced/Sety or should I match him with Tiltyuand help out both Arthur and Teeny? Alternatively, I will match Azel with Tiltyu for Pursuit and Magic reasons.

    1. Pandalex12

      Pandalex12

I always paired him up with Fury since Sety has really high stat caps.

Pair him with Tiltyu for early access to a holy weapon in next gen for Arthur.

Haven't played it in a long time so I don't recall much.

      krim

I second Sword here. First playthrough go for Levin x Fury. It's technically the "canon" pairing due to FE5, and it makes a godly Sety and a decent Fee. Levin!Arthur for Holsety on a horse if it's your second playthrough. Tinny suffers a little more than she would with Azel dad, but she'll still end up better than Tiltyu over all.

  18. I forgot how broken Lex from FE4 becomes once you get him the Brave Axe...

  19. I often times will give my Pokemon actual names to give them more personality when I'm playing through a game with them. For example, I have Nikola the Manectric, Rachel the Torterra, and so on. Their names will often times be related to their species and type, but not always.

  21. ...judging by Tomas's latest status, I'm going to say that No Guard+Sheer Cold is off the table. No Guard with Head Smash and Icicle Crash is still a valid guess, though.
  22. Okay so here's my idea for the ability: No Guard! I'll spell out the reasons for this below. 1. The whole point of the little blurb about how it was impossible to create a bulky Ice/Rock could be easily seen as a clue into the fact that Lizardgem won't be focused on its defenses at all, so why bother even having the ability to dodge when you could go full offense? 2. If we're talking physical attacker (which we likely are since it's a Rock type and given the discussion on the previous mon likely leaning towards a Special attacker, I don't think the Se7en devs would torture too many poor Rock types by forcing them to be special), then we only need to look at the main STAB moves that Lizardgem would be working with once fully evolved: Icicle Crash and the likes of Stone Edge/Rock Slide/Head Smash. Now all of these aforementioned moves are notorious for missing exactly when you need them. But, with No Guard, this would no longer be a problem! 3. Doing some calcs on the claim of This can be achieved one of two ways: boosting move like SD or Shell Smash (again, I doubt these will be given out to everyone), or with the most devastating OHKO move in the game: Sheer Cold, which it could very well end up with given the Ice typing. No Guard and Sheer Cold is a combo often seen in Hackmons, but in Graterras, nightmares dreams can come to life in a wide array of Pokemon. This normally broken combo can be easily taken down by any manner of priority moves and anything faster than it, thus reducing its usability and viability Quick Claw Lizardgem coming through....
  23. Sometimes, you must fight for something even though you know the cause is damned.

  24. Okay, so I just finished Episode 1 with Roober. Let me write down some bits. I was kinda expecting Roober to become a Fire/Dark type just to mix things up (since the only one of those we currently have is Houndoom and Roober would end up being a physical attacker rather than Special) and also because I expected the name to be a play on the word "Robber." It's whatever though. Also, wow, Roober evolves so quickly in comparison to Lifoam. That's three whole levels in difference there! Anyway, more on topic, I did use Sinisect and Magpy a little more this time through, but they still paled in comparison to the other members of my squad, namely the Pig and Chromalyd. I thought I would end up using Chromalyd less this run, but it doesn't feel like the Pig can really strike hard enough to sink a certain ship. And any hope of my using another mon to face down Mary was dashed when I realized that Chromalyd had HP Ghost. And so, despite the fact that I've been documenting learnsets, abilities, and evolution requirements to make it easier for me in the long run, I still do not know what level Chromalyd evolves into Monochromoth because it gains like 4-5 levels in the course of a battle. I gotta say, though, her team is really quite bulky. Even boosted, some mons took a hit or two to take down. I like all the bits I've seen so far, although I have run into a few little glitchy bits/typos, which I'll just stick in a spoiler here since I'm already writing this post. I can always throw them in the other thread if you'd like, though.
