  1. We have all the knowledge in the world at our finger tips and my little brother chooses to watch "Jurassic Bork" with it.

      That is my favorite!!!!

  2. why on earth did they feel the need to make mounted units so good in FE4?

well it's just that normally I don't use mounted units much because I personally don't like horses, but there really is little choice in FE4. You ride or die out here.

I prefer foot units generally too but FE4's just way too big. You already have to spend too much time moving units from point A to B in that game, imagine doing it with no horses.

and heaven forbid the random barbarian on the map have time to loot the village which provides a vital ring or stat bonus. I guess the map size is to be expected when the game has a total of 12 maps to go through, but it is just somewhat unfortunate. I feel like there should be at least two Leg rings in the game, but there's unfortunately only the one, meaning you can only have a couple foot soldiers, max, keep up with the vanguard.

  3. I decided to replay FE4 again because procrastination and I decided to give Arden a shot this time around. I mean, statistically, he's not awful. He has nonexistent Speed, but that doesn't matter as much in FE4 as in other games unless you have Pursuit. Skill and Resistance aren't things he will ever have much of, but that's kinda expected of generals in Fire Emblem. The stat he is truly hampered in is obviously movement since he has no hose in Horse Emblem. A shame, since he starts with 13 in Strength and Defense at level 3, weapon triangle advantage in the first two levels, and first pick on the legendary Pursuit Ring.

Eh, I tend to value Lex x Ayra over Arden x Ayra since Lex actually makes the kids have higher defense than the generation 1's General holy blood is literally OP. And personally I like Azel with Tiltyu since that allows Arthur to be a mobile Magical powerhouse, like his father before him, which is important since you don't exactly have many units in Gen 2 who are mobile and have strong magic stats (I guess there's Magic Sword Miracle Lord Seliph and Ced with the Leg Ring, but that's about it). I'm still not planning on pairing Arden with anyone simply because that would force his lover to dawdle back with him and lose out on a lot of precious xp, but I do want to use him in combat to some extent. The guy may not get laid, but he will be appreciated.

Well yeah, he's going to be outclassed no matter who you try to give him lol. I was just offering suggestions. Ive actually been doing some odder pairnigs recently, and like half my gen 2 is magical. Light Brand based god Seliph, Azel!Delmud/Nanna are great with magic swords, Claude!Ced/Fee both get his good magic growth for magic swords in Fees case, and his staves get passed down far earlier than waiting for Corple, Lewyn!Arthur/Tinny gives early nukage Forseti and high evade wrath units, and Holyn!Patty has more magic than strength...for some reason.

There are certainly some fun combos to be explored, that's for sure. Lex!Arthur/Tinny gives the infamous Vantage/Wrath combo, Lweyn!Arthur produces what a lot of the more "advanced" FE players refer to as "Horseti" or a secondary win button (after Miracle Lord Seliph) because horses+legendary wind magic is actually absurd. Lester would also be broken if he had access to his cousin's bow. It's especially fun to tinker with inheritance with the rings and certain weapons, so there's always more to test out.

  4. I mean, this simply isn't true. CB Garde Dog can often 3HKO maxed out Defense/HP Tapu Fini calc: +1 252 Atk Zygarde Thousand Arrows vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Tapu Fini: 120-142 (34.8 - 41.2%) -- 72.5% chance to 3HKO after Leftovers recovery And on the second point, Tapu Lele doesn't need to be able to live a Thousand Arrows+E-Speed because of Psychic Terrain. Although it certainly should be noted it has a strong chance of dying to a single CB Thousand Arrows after rocks/any prior damage without any defensive investment. calc for that too: +1 252 Atk Zygarde Thousand Arrows vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Tapu Lele: 234-276 (83.2 - 98.2%) -- 68.8% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock I could see Smogon banning Thousand Arrows at some point if the Garde Dog truly gets out of hand, but as it stands I doubt it. Without Thousand Arrows, it is basically Lycanroc (Midday) with different typing.
  5. I'm reading an interesting book which compiles the changes in the polarization of individuals as a result of geographical location and various preferences. I might post a discussion about some of the concepts when I finish it off.

  6. So far my assessment is that the two biggest winners of the dawn of the 7th Gen competitive scene are Psychic Fangs Carvanha down in LC and foul Play Mandibuzz to destroy the insane threats in OU.

  7. The more I play, the more I enjoy the Sun/Moon metagame.

  8. Gladion and Lillie's relationship was screaming Cain and Aya to me, especially with Gladion practically being a rival and Lillie's lines all about how Gladion abandoned her there with Lusamine. Other things I noticed from fan game experiences were the lovely HM Replacements, which reminded me of games like Insurgence (particularly how people will hand out the old HMs later on for free since they're pretty worthless).
  9. Sun and Moon LC is fun

apparently it's unobtainable at pevel 5 since you obtain it at level 40 and it cannot breed.

    3. Amanojaku

      Amanojaku

      Well, it's kinda like Scyther

  10. Pokemon will never explain how the protagonists always know how to play the flute, will they?

    1. Ironbound

      Ironbound

Apparently playing a flute is as innate a skill as not being able to swim or dive without the help of a Pokemon.

    2. HughJ

      HughJ

I'm very skilled at not being able to swim

  11. I always enjoy properly executed endings where the protagonist fails or the villain wins. It's a refreshing change of pace that helps counteract all the constant assurances that player characters are the "chosen ones" who are destined to succeed. Having a script for failure is fun and forcing the player into a place where they cannot win is even more so. That being said, if it is not properly executed, then it just ends in a disaster and everyone will abhor the final product, so either do it right or do not attempt it.
  12. Route 6: AKA the road Gamefreak intentionally made completely straight to have mercy on breeders

    1. Azeria

They also made 2 areas that you can endlessly go in a circle in...and Tauros makes hatching super quick too.

    2. AuthorReborn

      AuthorReborn

true, although I've always prefered straight lines since running in circles makes me dizzy. plus, Gamefreak was extra nice by putting Fletchling an extra route away from the nursery, allowing easy Flame Body access. Smogon Birb may be bad now, but Flame Body is still excellent.

  13. going from playing The Last Promise, a fan hack of FE7 where all the characters are decent, to FE6 is actually painful.

  14. seriously tho, screw whoever decided to put manaketes in the desert with a fog of war and a time limit for the gaiden in FE6

also, while that may be, IntSys, you only have about a one space allowance for visability on the manaketes before you are in range barring your mandatory thief for a desert map.

Have you considered bringing a Torch staff or some torches?

    4. AuthorReborn

      AuthorReborn

eh I had this save from a little while ago and just got back around to continuing it. Also, the devs must think they're so funny, putting torches in the shop at the end of the level.

  15. anyone got some songs from musicals they would recommend? I kinda love musicals a lot but live in too rural a place to actually see them with any regularity.

I've been pretty obsessed to Little Shop of Horrors for a couple years now, I'm just trying to expand my audio library now.

Also, I will check out all of those. Thanks for your suggestions, everyone!

  16. Based on the interaction that I've been seeing on the forum in recent days, I believe that there is definite viability in the Debate Hall sub-forum idea. People clearly want to engage in constructive discussions, but it is often hard to maintain civility in these circumstances without proper structure being implemented. At the very least, I believe we should begin by having every topic state in the first post the moderator who will be earnestly attempting to maintain civility, neutrality, and adherence to these rules. Another step to that would be having a system similar to the RP sub-forum, so all civil discourse and debate threads are marked as such ([Debate]). At that point, it is much easier to at least be able to dispel any claims of ignorance of the specific guidelines of the debate posts. But alas, this is just my limited viewpoint on the matter. I'm certain I have missed something and implore you to simply use this as inspiration rather than a final product.
  17. I would recommend Feraligatr, as he can easily destroy a lot of troublesome threats (he has a very good match up against Hardy and Titania, who will both be battled in future episodes). You will have to do a little bit of breeding to get an awesome one, but you said you were looking for things to do anyways. You'll want to breed Dragon Dance from the Kingdra line and Ice Punch from Abomasnow and make sure it has the ability Sheer Force. Then, there's iirc, there's a life orb obtainable somewhere (or as an item on the event Absol in rare cases) which will give you the boost but will prevent you from taking the Life orb damage thanks to Sheer Force. Then there's STAB Waterfall, as well as either Bulldoze from Terra's TM or Crunch via level-up to give you a strong and versatile attacker who can destroy most unprepared teams.
  18. I've always appreciated your calm and rational take on politics, Hunter. Quite often, our views conflict due to differing political beliefs and ideology, but I still respect your efforts to create rational and civil discourse. And after last night, this is exact sort of reception that campaign weary liberals and conservatives alike need experience. Before any parties or ideology or truly anything else, we are first and foremost citizens of the United States of America working to realize our dreams and desires through civil actions and working with our fellow Americans to accomplish some of the greatest feats in human history. We may not always agree, but it is important to graciously accept the truth of life and work towards a more perfect Union. Thank you for your lovely and empathetic post, Hunter.
  19. Yes, there has been more data uncovered from the Sun and Moon demo including learnsets, names, and stats. You can see all the newly datamined info on Youtube on Kaphothics' channel, but please respect the desires of those who do not want to be spoiled by not discussing it in statuses or openly on the server.

I actually actively mark anything Pokemon-related as "Not interested" on Youtube. Not because I'm not interested, but to avoid as many spoilers as I can, and it's been working out for me so far.

How did they get their hands on a copy of the game? They should really keep those under better custody.

I would recommend looking up the sidequest guide if you are going to play it since there are some easily missable bits that really hurt you to not have.
