I need help. I'm using the quick claw + destiny bond combo but for some reason, the destiny bond isn't killing Arceus even when my guy dies. Is this a glitch or am I doing something wrong?

I have been looking for a soul candle for a long time now but can't find it! I read that you can find one in the cave near Shade's gym but still can't find it. Do I need strength or something to get it? I really want a pumpkaboo.
