It's here!! Thanks so much for what looks like a ridiculous amount of work on this, devs; my file's still downloading but I'm already excited just for that change log. (Joining in the serious mourning for Gym Guy, though, he was the best. ; I feel like maybe this is a silly question, but just to make sure I have things clear--is it okay to do liveblogs and the like before the public release, or would you rather people waited? I'm guessing that's not a problem, but I wanted to check first. (... Also, I'm just curious--did your bothering to get rid of the item PC have anything to do with it being possible to 'clone' the Ruby Ring by storing it before meeting Blake? Because that would kind of amuse me.)

Abusing field effects is the best strategy. My go-to for any battle that's given me trouble: Rain Dance + Drought (on Ninetales) to create a Rainbow Field --> Use Cosmic Power 3x with Clefable to max Def/SpD --> Proceed to sweep everything with 260-power Stored Power and a nigh-invincible Clefable, healing with Moonlight if necessary. Basically, the takeaway here is that you can legitimately win battles through incessant use of rainbows in Reborn, and therefore it is the best Pokemon game you will ever play.

Me too! Victoria's really great in and of herself; she just gets badly shafted by the structure of the game, since you need to have battles happening the whole way through even if it doesn't make story sense. I mean yeah, she definitely has that "thinks with her heart before her head" deal going on, but I really don't think we're supposed to believe she'd stop you from rescuing a bunch of abused children just so Kiki can avoid a routine gym battle. (Same thing with Kiki making you do that battle in the first place, or Cain refusing to give you the Wasteland key before you battle him for it--they're not actually bizarrely terrible people, there just wasn't a good excuse in-universe for the obligatory gym/rival battles.)

Check the readme file in the game folder? If it says '14.1' near the top there, then that's the version you have, which means the puzzle should be working fine; if it's 14.5 or 14.6 or similar, you have one of the more recent releases that's currently still in testing, and that's likely why you're running into problems.

I dunno, this game really isn't the same if you get to take your pick from the whole cast; you can just choose whichever two characters you like and one you hate. Not Bennett, because as much as I'd like to put him here, I will begrudgingly admit that death is not fair for someone who's still a stupid kid... And for the most part I don't hate Fern with the passion everyone else seems to (I mainly find him hilarious), but it's a whole different story when he's inflicting himself on someone who actually is bothered by it, so you know what? Let's say "Fern if he doesn't leave Aya the fuck alone this instant".

I haven't gone in and checked your save file (though I might if you're still stuck later and no one else has), but -- are you playing version 14.5? Because last I was aware, 14.5 had a bug or two that made that route literally impassable, at least the first time through. So if you are in 14.5, you should try switching over to 14.1 to solve this puzzle first! I had the same issue when I first played it.
