Just lost against Marianette 2 times... Reminds me of Noel of Reborn, so i hate her. As for the pickup, you have to kill stuff. Pickup actives when you win a battle.

While being certainly more practical than it is already, such an option would just be an extra comfort as you can already do backups if you know what you're doing. I don't see that necessary. But if you'd have to do it, do it one at a time, so we can progressively beta-testing. Also do yourself strong beta-testings, i don't want my save file to corrupt because of that -

The shiny-thrad for 4th gen pokemons being locked, i start a new. I was really glad to see the oldschool shiny Porygon. His evolution, Porygon2 had a cool shiny too. However when i evolved it a second time, i was disappointed. He didn't change at all from the original games !!! I was expecting an oldschool style, maybe more black/dark with missingno pixels around (Plus mine is named "Pixelz" !) Are the shiny forms of gen4 definitive or can i expect some changes ? Also i could give a try at doing the sprite if needed.

Well, these four colors stand for the gemstones jewels aka Emerald/Ruby/Sapphire/Amethyst rings/pendants/etc; which are part of the story. We don't however know their purposes yet, do we ? I always thought there might be references to some legendaries. The hoenn weather trio is obvious; and the violet color being associetied with royal and religious stuff; maybe Arceus.

Besides Reborn City => Agate Circus; there are not really large maps to go through yet. Fly would be useful but cannot be considered that vital. Maybe we'll get it in the desert, or after the agate ruckus is done.
