Isn't the cave in front of Shade's gym Citrine Mountain? EDIT: I found one, thank you both!

I'm searching for a Swinub, and I've looked in Ametrine Mountain, Citrine Mountain, and Tanzan Mountain, and I can't find one. Does anyone know if its time based?

Seeing that Houndoom isn't on the list, I want to build on what CoolGirl brought to the table (my old ranking). Houndoom for A- + Available before Gym 2. + Has some utility (Magma Drift, Rock Smash) + Massive special attack stat, boosted further by Nasty Plot. + Decent movepool: Flamethrower, Nasty Plot, Crunch, Foul Play, Magma Drift, Overheat, Shadow Ball, Sludge Bomb TM, Sucker Punch (Breed), Destiny Bond (Breed). + Flash Fire a great ability, especially for Amber. - Other than Special Attack, rather average stats (paper thin 75/50/80 defenses). - Struggles with many field effects. - Sees no use for the first few gyms. Here are some more~ Ampharos for A Rank + 90/85/90 defenses are very useful. + Great utility and support moves: Confuse Ray, Thunder Wave, Light Screen, Rain Dance TM, Cotton Guard, Flash TM. + Parafusion is great, for obvious reasons. + Wide offensive movepool: Power Gem, Signal Beam, Thunder, Discharge, Dragon Pulse, Volt Switch TM, Charge Beam TM. + Very flexible and useful in many gym battles. + Static is a very useful ability. - Mega unimplemented. - Extremely low 55 base speed. - Obtainable relatively late in the game (moved to after 5th Gym in V7), and is an event Pokémon. Roserade for B+/A- Rank + Available before Gym 1. + Great offensive stats, with 125 SpAtk and 90 Speed. + Can function with utility: Toxic Spikes, Toxic, Leech Seed, Aromatherapy, Synthesis + Great STAB moves, but lacking versatility: Giga Drain, Petal Dance, Sludge Bomb TM, Shadow Ball TM. + Great against Keta (field effect), and Valarie. - Horrible defensive typing, 60/65/105 defenses are horrendous - Struggles with many late game Gym Leaders (Crawli, Angie, Amber) Swoobat for B/B+ Rank + Available before Gym 1. + Great 114 Speed + Fantastic Simple ability, easily allowing it to abuse many boosting moves. + Good utility in Calm Mind, Amnesia, Rain Dance. + Decent movepool: Psychic, Air Slash, Shadow Ball TM, Stored Power (Breed), Charge Beam TM. Endeavor. + Can sweep many gyms with one Calm Mind, useful against Venam, Keta, Valarie, Crawli. - Paper thin 67/55/55 defenses. - Can do little without any boosts. - Level up moves leave it with little options.

The only thing that disappointed me this version was the lack of Team Xen encounters and Shadow Pokémon. Hopefully next version there is some sort of Xen headquarters with a ton of Shadow Pokémon.

Sorry, where is the library? In West or East Gearen? I can't find it at all.

Altaria: C+ + Available before Gym 2 + Nice special defense, with Cotton Guard to boost its defense greatly + Great status movepool, with Sing, Dragonbreath (for paralysis), Dragon Dance, Cotton Guard, Tailwind, Rain Dance and Perish Song + Very useful in a few battles, such as against Madelis, Marianette, and Crawli - Lackluster movepool, with many of its compatible TMs not being available (has Moonblast, Dragon Pulse, Sky Attack) - Minimal attack stats, doing limited amount of damage, getting good attacking moves much later in the game - Limited use in many battles, can be very gimmicky

If I'm not mistaken, she leads with a Driftblim or some other mon without Ghostly Wail. Perfect set up bait. Misdeed us spammed Flash to lower its accuracy and change the field in my favor. Then Swoobat boosted to +6 and swept her.

Houndour. It was WEAK AF in the beginning of the game, but crushed Narcissa, Crawli, Angie, and too many others.

I did the ??? quest in Kristiline, and I need to go back to the lab to get a shard of the card for the event Shadow, but the door says "Locked." when I interact with it. Ideas?

You can get Ralts MUCH later in the game, before facing Amber. To be honest, it's not worth softresetting for Ralts and missing out on Torchic or Froakie, when you can still make Ralts a part of your team later on. Just IMO.

I don't think the Move Tutor is available, so I'm curious to know how you got your Hyper Voice (Move Tutor, not Relearner). I would like to think that Sylveon is an A rank or lower (A-?) It cannot do diddly against Venam, so you would have to keep it as an Eevee. In the beginning of the game it would just be a struggle. That and the Hyper Voice thing makes it an A for me. Also, I don't know if it's just me, but I had no trouble with any of those boss Pokémon you listed, including the entirety of the Shadow collection. Also irrelevant, but Ralts is obtainable in game.

GoldenWood Pond, you need Surf though.
