I'm guessing it'll still be a lowly Magikarp when we get it, and Magikarps can't learn egg moves at all, so I think the sidequest could end in E16. You'd need to grind it up a fair bit for it to be worth using, and there aren't a lot of gyms left that couldn't counter it. Fair point.
-
You can't get Magikarp, Magby or Ralts before the first gym anymore - those events were all pushed back and, to date, Magikarp is nowhere to be obtained. Also, Magby and Ralts require a fair amount of grinding since you get them at such low levels. Beldum is super well-hidden, starts at level one (requires a LOT of grinding), and is very tedious just to catch. Bunnelby got axed from the Beryl Ward - I don't think you can get it at all right now. Anyways, only a few select people can say for sure when the ring comes into the game...I personally don't think it will be around until we have more mega stones to choose from, but I could be wrong.

How rude of me - 32 posts and I haven't even introduced myself yet! My name's Ryan. I favour fire Pokemon, enjoy battling with Trick Room teams, have played through Reborn a few times and am currently working my way through Rejuvenation. I also pick up a pencil once in a while and post stuff to the fanart thread. Anyways, enough about me. I just wanted to say I think it's amazing how community-driven Reborn is, and say to everyone who's had a hand in building the game: you're all awesome!

Honestly I hope we DON'T get the mega ring for a few more gyms. It adds another element of difficulty to have to face gym leaders that have them when we don't. Especially as we start to get access to better tms and movesets that approach competitive levels.

Meh, Luna's gonna reject Bennett either way.

This is Reborn, not Kanto. The region probably has more urgent issues at hand, like finding clean drinking water, coping with rampant crime, and dealing with the fact that the city is half destroyed. "Oh, the gym leader isn't around right now and you'd like to fight a backup leader? That's nice, but our water treatment centre's been halted by a giant mutated poison pokemon."

Cofagrius a good option, as is perish song Murkrow. I also once used ditto with good results - nothing better than beating Solaris with his own Dragon Rush
-
With the exception of my first playthrough I beat the garchomp every time. It alters a few details of the storyline, namely some of the battles you'll encounter at the end of episode 15.

I'd be shocked if Hardy was Meteor. He wants to save Aya from them and (unsuccessfully) tried to get us through the Ametrine glacier. Good point with Luna though...she's almost more mysterious than Radomus and nobody seems to be questioning the fact we still know very little about her. I don't know if I can see her as a Meteor agent tbh, but I feel her character isn't done with the plot yet.
-
I agree. Corey and M3G473RR4 were likely the only two leaders affiliated with Meteor. Radomus might have been at one point given his knowledge of the situation at hand and the fact he has access to both Meteor and Cultist uniforms...but that's unconfirmed. If we're counting former leaders, there's also Cal and Blake.
-
That means nothing. Reborn already had two gym leaders that were affiliated with Meteor (Corey and t3rrawr). El is e4 and at least working with meteor. heck, even in RBY geovanni was the rocket boss and strongest gym leader

My theory is that the current Elite 4 are descendants of a previous Elite 4 that existed during team Meteor's first attacks which took place before this game's storyline (the attacks that prompted the Yureyu HQ earthquakes, etc.) Back then a younger, two-eyed Sirius was likely tasked with killing off the guardians of the keys and taking them: HEATHER: Sirius killed Heather's mom (a confirmed ex E4 member) for the Ruby Ring by poisoning her in a hospital - we know that from Corey's notes in his hidden chamber. LAURA: Sirius also burned down the Belrose Manse to kill Charlotte/Sapphira/Laura's parents, Monty and Caroline Belrose. One or both of them presumably guarded the Sapphire Bracelets at the time. ANNA: We don't know who Anna's father is, but at the Yureyu HQ, Sirius mentions he knew Anna's father, claiming "he always was a fool." In that same scene we learn that Anna got the Amethyst Pendant from her dad. We don't have proof right now that Radomus is the dad, BUT we do know a few things that point in that direction. At the Citae Arc-d'Astrae, Radomus is shocked to learn that you (the player) possess the Amethyst Pendant, so he obviously is familiar with it. We also know Radomus used to have a female companion, Zina Vanhanan, in his life that is now deceased and buried at the Beryl Graveyard. If it turns out that Radomus is Anna's father, then I think Zina was the original guardian of the pendant and was also an elite four member. If this is the case, Sirius / Meteor likely killed Zina for the pendant, just as Sirius killed Heather's mom and Monty and Caroline Belrose for their keys. ELIAS: The missing link in my theory is the Emerald Brooch. We know Elias is an E4, and the oldest known one at that. Whereas Heather and Laura are "just kids," Elias is old enough that he HAS a kid. One of my theories is that Elias is the remaining E4 out of the past generation, but he sold out to Team Meteor, so Sirius / Meteor spared him his life and let him keep the Emerald Brooch. My other, deeper theory is that Elias was a corrupt guardian that turned on the other three to try to abuse the power of the keys. Maybe El's the behind-the-scenes puppet master that's leading Meteor to believe that Arceus will renew the world in their favour, and leading Sigmund to believe that Arceus could save Sigmund's sister and/or confirm if ECT could have saved her. We know that El and his cultists are now cooperating with Meteor. We also know that Sigmund's orderlies are part of the "new world" group. When you flee the Vanhanan castle after beating Radomus, Radomus tells you that Meteor "isn't the only shady dealing El has." I think the other "shady dealing" is between El and Sigmund. Maybe El used Meteor to kill of the the other three key guardians, while El is also using Sigmund to detain the kids who are next in line to control the keys. As for the Champion, who knows. If the theory about the E4 being key guardians is correct, then maybe Solaris is the champion (or was before Lin) seeing as he's a direct descendant of the family that's supposed to protect Arceus. Not enough evidence to even go there right now, but my three guesses for the champ at this point: Lin, Solaris, or (dare I say) Taka. I may be way off on my theories, so let me know if there are any holes in them.

Actually in episode 15 there's a clown you can fight unlimited times and he uses different teams each time. He hangs out by the powder vial shop. -
Plot so well-written that it could almost stand alone without being part of a video game Battles that are intellectually stimulating Defeating Fern over and over knowing he deserves it

Not a "custom" sprite per se, but sometimes I like to pretend my bike is a Charizard:

^ Likely the armor you can expect to find in Reborn

I don't think Solaris isn't the problem, tbh. Despite being Meteor's leader (next to Lin, at least) it's becoming clear he's out of touch with what Meteor wants to achieve. I predict other antagonists will be pressuring Team Meteor to off Taka - namely Sirius, Elias and maybe even Lin.

Yeah...I ran out of room on the page, lol. Rookie mistake And thanks!

Having seen other works on here, I'm sure somebody could draw Sirius better than I could, but I took a stab at it:

In your opinion, what is the hardest battle in reborn (yet)
GenOneRaisedGenY replied to Nivircity's topic in Reborn City
No, and nothing will save you from the Voltorbs' aftermaths either, but some starters do make the battle easier. Chameleon gets Dragon Rage before the battle and that OHKOs most of her team. Marshstomp is at least immune to Julia's field-enhanced STAB moves, and you can probably just use other, weaker pokemon to battle the two Voltorbs if need be. On the other hand, if you're bringing, say, a Wartortle to the battle, you're basically relying on other mons which, at that point in the game, aren't that great. -

One thing that bugs me about the crystal valley is that every rock-smash-able thing there has to be smashed twice. Gets kind of repetitive. -
Yup, actually there's four possible outcomes for the mansion battle. At the Yureyu HQ you can either fight Sigmund to rescue Heather, or tell him you don't want to fight then go upstairs to fight Sirius in a doubles battle. Whoever you didn't fight at Yureyu ends up being who you do fight at the mansion. Then at the mansion after you beat Sirius or Sigmund, the side of the house you choose to protect decides who gets captured. I know for a fact that Laura, Sapphira, or the twins can be captured. I forget what the fourth alternative is.
-
Yeah but she beats Sirius in another variation, and Sigmund's mons attacked Laura directly so I wouldn't use that incident to gauge her pokemon. If I were Team Meteor, I'd try to get Laura, Charlotte and Sapphira to turn against each other somehow. Also, I'm curious to know in what context will we fight Laura if she's not an elite, a gym leader or a rival of ours?
