  1. Oh... Uhhh... I actually removed the time travel plot. Silly me. I didn't even realize that I forgot to mention that on this thread.
  2. I've gone and revamped my maps for the fourth time. Ugu. This is the new and improved Jade Forest. Ignore the tiling errors. I've long since fixed them. There's probably a few too many tree types here, as I was getting the hang of my new tiles, so luckily I've cleverly retconned Jade Forest to be the only place with such a wide variety of life. Other maps won't have this many different trees. I'll update the credits with the new tilesets soon. The only real downside to making the maps look this good as that it takes much MUCH longer to map them. But it's probably worth it. Better to make a good looking game that takes forever than a horrible looking game that has amazing gameplay Anyways, I've been considering removing the new types. They're a nifty little gimmick, but don't really fit in the story and were just kind of added for the sake of being added. But I added a poll just in case. In other news I'm going to be buffing some of the weaker Pokemon. Particularly Mightyena, who as of right now can be considered the weakest of Defiance's starters. Nothing too drastic, just a 10 point buff for a lot of the weaker 'mons.
  3. Most Pokemon looked much better with sprites. 3D models, while for some Pokemon they look good, overall just look... Eh...
  4. I once had an idea of an all-levitate team. Why I would want to create a team that is completely immune to my favorite type, I have not a clue. but I still thought of it.
  5. Are there any unused plot ideas you had? Or was the story at any point going to go into a different direction?
  6. Thirding this. A Swoobat became my ace for a large portion of the game. And a lot of the more popular, commonly used Pokemon aren't available until much later in the game. Playing Reborn bascially requires you to try something new.
  7. Now now, just so you know, some people are more resistant to edge than others.
  8. I'm completely okay with this. Clay is actually my first name... So... I was basically destined to be assigned the Ground type. Then Torterra came along and made it 100x easier. Also I'm from the deep southern US but I don't have an accent for some reason
  9. I must be already in a state of permanent confusion. Literally already me.
  10. Kanto: +Lance, because he's Lance -Agatha. I don't dislike her, she's just my least favorite. Johto: +Koga. Poison ninjas are nice. -Will. He just didn't interest me too much Hoenn: +Drake. Something about an old sea captain with overpowered dragons is just a bit cool. -Glacia. Not too memorable to me. Also lots and lots of Glalies. Sinnoh: +Flint. He has screentime which I am perfectly accepting toward. -Lucian. Meh. Unova: +Caitlin. People with more screentime tend to become more favored by me for some reason. -Marshal. I forgot his name, to be honest. Kalos: +Malva. Yada yada screentime, but even then, her personality was much more memorable. -SIEBOLDS DUMB DRAGON DANCING GYARADOS GAH
  11. I had a lot of fun with Swalot in X, although using an Exploud wouldn't be too bad of an idea. I mean, Boomburst.
  12. Swoobat was my MVP for the longest time until I ended up dropping it just before the battle with Serra (Because it's just so great that the next three gyms rendered it almost unsuable.). Simple AND Calm Mind is a great combo, though, and with Charge Beam it ripped apart most teams. Other than that I didn't have too many unexpected party members.
  13. I had the most trouble with Serra. Two of my heavy-hitters were Flygon and Torterra, and even with my Arcanine I couldn't do much. Then I trained up a Toxicroak and it ended up being incredibly useful in the battle. Nasty Plot and Sludge Wave is an amazing combo.
  14. There's only two things that I actually really dislike about the game. 1) The laaaaag 2) I feel as though a lot of Pokemon are received at far too low of a level. I remember that I received the Cynadquill about right before around Radomus's battle. I ended up grinding for around four hours before the Typhlosion was caught up with everyone else. Mind you, it felt satisfying when it was done, but I wouldn't mind getting some of the event Pokemon at a slightly higher level.
  15. I don't even remember. I think by parents bought me a copy of Pokemon Sapphire when I was much younger. Or maybe it was one of the N64 games. I'm not even sure where I started.
  16. I disagree on the Psychic idea, personally. Personality doesn't always necessarilly translate to typing used, and plus I created these two to be foils of eachother. And also Alec is tech-savvy. I can understand the dislike toward the idea of two Electric type gym leaders though, but luckily there is a bit of space between them, as Blitz and Alec are the third (forth?) gym leaders fought, while Elexis isn't fought until later on. That being said, I can't believe I didn't think about the whole Ground type weakness. I'll balance it out in some way. They were going to have Magmar and Electabuzz, as well as some other stronger Pokémon, so I can understand the confusion. Yet there is a bit of space between gyms, so... I'll probably just bring in a couple of Pokémon that are immune and can counter a ground type, as well as perhaps attaching an Air Balloon to one of their Pokémon. Or maybe I'll see if I can figure out the whole Field Effect system and perhaps create a terrain to up the difficulty a wee bit? I dunno. I haven't figured out how to make it work. But regardless, thanks for the criticism. It's super helpful.
  17. uhhh... This is a super tough choice.... I dunno who to pick. But seriously. A good offensive typing, an awesome design, EARTHQUAKE?! Before my data was lost, Torterra was a staple on my team. Also he had really good synergy with my Flygon.
  18. Alright, I got development back on track. I've got quite a few maps done and looking great, I have multiple new trainer sprites, and I've managed to remake quite a few of my lost filed. I have quite a few updates here. Two more playable characters have been added. A third rival The plot has been revamped once more Burnard still exists, but he's switched spots with someone else. More Megas have been added to the list The Light and Space types have been rebalanced, hopefully for the last time. I've listed a few other plot-relevant characters. But there is one feature I'm going to add which I am particularly looking forward to finishing: Unique NPCsThat's right. Every NPC is going to be unique, save for a few exceptions. You won't be seeing Youngster Joey clones all across a route. Now, you'll see a wide variety of people with different appearances and personalities. Some NPCs will even be able to expand their role in the game further after you defeat them on a route. Others will even travel across the region just as you do. Each one has their own goals, interests, and journeys. Will this require a lot of sprites? Yes. Will it be worth it? I sure hope so.
  19. Alright. My luck is very, very amazing, so the next logical step was to have my hard drive become corrupted. My reborn save nooooo So yeah. That's been the main reason for the lack of updates or anything. I thankfully managed to save a large portion of the Trainer and Mega Evolution sprites, due to a lot of them being posted online. Unfortunately, a few trainer sprites and at least 15 Mega Evolutions were lost. Luckily I only lost of couple of the better Megas. *sob* Why Bisharp, whyyyy?! Anyways, I'm not giving up on this. It would probably be a crime to at this point. Just consider the development period to be extended indefinitely.
  20. Eventually. That's all I can say. I do not work on this at a consistent rate, and I may get more done on some days than others. Also, I'm definitely going to rebalance the Space type. I personally find Light to be well-balanced enough, so I'm unlikely to tweak its chart.
  21. Alright Ame, after reading these last few posts, I believe the most logical thing to do is have a superboss Bidoof hidden away somewhere. Or a Pulse Bidoof. I can only imagine what on earth Team Meteor would want one for
  22. Finally, I managed to sort of get my act together and get together some decent stuff. First and foremost, I do have screenshots, and with those come the confirmation that I have finally managed to get Following Pokémon implemented. Luckily mej71 managed to get together a plug in and play Follower script so that my lack of scripting ability does not make it impossible for me to add the feature. I made sure to update the credits to include a couple of people I forgot. Also, Magic type has been removed from the game. Compared to Light and Space, there was much less I was able to do with it, and considering three types is a bit much, (two is stretching it even) I felt it would be better to cut it. But I did add a couple of more retypes to each type. But on the bright side, I did manage to get some rather decent redesigns in for a couple of the trainers.
