Smeargle

Ah, confused the two of them yet again. I rarely bother with Evasion, since with my luck... well, I could have a +6 Evasion boost, and still I'd get hit by normally inaccurate moves like Fire Blast.

Smeargle

Double Team instead of Minimise?
3. You could still lose to a ground monotype if you're not careful - some ground players would happily sacrifice hippowdon to feint against you (weird, but it does happen - and I've lost to a ground monotype that way before). Froslass having manual Hail is good, but she's still vulnerable to SR (there goes the Sash). So really, it'll almost be a question of whether you choose to swap abomasnow out for cloyster/froslass.
4. I just noticed this, aha XD No need to talk about hazards, spending one turn in sand would be painful
5. How would you fare against a generic ground monotype? True, you have the type advantage, but hippowdon usually has lower speed than abomasnow, which ensures that sand goes up instead of hail. Couple that with hippowdon's SR, and things can get tricky. Yes, you could switch in cloyster, but most hippowdon users would either Roar your cloyster back out, or swap in a nidoking - incidentally, a ground-type that can also vanish your TSpikes and at the same time kill abomasnow quite easily (Flamethrower/Sludge Bomb). Or a donphan could Spin away the hazards. There's also the issue of dugtrio with its Arena Trap and high speed, along with other seemingly unlikely candidates such as golurk, who have access to some nasty moves and also speed boosts. I could also raise the merits of a rock monotype, but that's a little on the unfair side of critique since it has the type-trump on you. However, the rock-types do have an edge despite their low speed - Stockpile cradily with Toxic could actually do some nasty damage to you if the rocks keep their sand up. But against opponents without their own weather... I'd say this team could do well. Barring of course those lousy heatran/genesect that seem to be saturating the tiers nowadays. Even scizor isn't as annoying as them, frankly.

Smeargle

What, a smeargle used for something OTHER than Baton Pass? Blasphemy! --- Smeargle (M) @ Focus Sash Trait: Own Tempo EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk) - ExtremeSpeed - Counter - Mirror Coat - Spore --- So, this smeargle is part of my little bag of weird pokemon, and works surprisingly well. Most people do two things when they see a smeargle - Taunt it or kill it. Naturally, for the first case, I'd be an idiot to keep smeargle in the ring. But for the second case, now we're talking! Basically, this smeargle acts as my surprise revenge-killer on a normal monotype. No one sees Counter or Mirror Coat coming, especially for those with their machamps and Lum Berries. Sashed or Sturdy? Meet Extremespeed. Next turn, barring priority or outspeeding, smeargle's usually fast enough to rig a Spore before it goes down.
7. I am on the verge of committing homicide. Seriously, if those IDIOTS piss me off again within this weekend, I'm going to drug them unconscious, tie them up, and pull a scene from The Strangers on them. Now, where's my doll-faced mask? Just because I keep quiet, doesn't mean that I have nothing to say. But of course, the obvious isn't as clear as it should be, apparently. GTFO of my sight and earshot before I seriously kill something. PS - For the record, the last time my temper reached this level, a stray frog ended up being knocked out, cut open, and had its spine ripped out.
8. Between the three of us, if we sang, you'd get... Perish Song.
9. Abomasnow used to have Ice Shard, but I dropped it for some reason that I have now forgotten. More on that later if I recall it. Likewise for the EV spread... am wondering which of us three actually used this abomasnow initially. Jynx is good in triples, believe me. Handy in Rain, and fast enough to do its job.
10.
Hated Genesect I really hate Genesect. Never could point a figer as to why, but it's another OU Steel type thats abused by a choice item, namely Scarf. It's powerful and can pun a serious hole in my sun team considering that it's used late game. I have more reasons but the bell just rung so ill get back to this later
This thing has ripped holes through more monotype teams than the three of us would like to admit... gah. It's fast, has only one weakness, and hits like a train. Admirable, but sometimes annoying (given its saturation all over the place).
11. So I got bored and decided to make yet another triples team. This time for Hail, since I rarely use that weather. --- Cryogonal @ Chople Berry Trait: Levitate EVs: 160 Def / 228 SAtk / 120 Spd Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk) - Blizzard - Hidden Power [Fire] - Flash Cannon - Acid Armor --- Abomasnow (M) @ Leftovers Trait: Snow Warning EVs: 4 HP / 156 Def / 20 SAtk / 76 SDef / 252 Spd Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk) - Ice Punch - Seed Bomb - Earthquake - Swords Dance --- Weavile (M) @ Life Orb Trait: Pressure EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - Ice Shard - Night Slash - Brick Break - Fake Out --- Concretion (Cloyster) (M) @ Focus Sash Trait: Skill Link EVs: 236 Atk / 20 SDef / 252 Spd Careful Nature (+SDef, -SAtk) - Ice Shard - Icicle Spear - Rock Blast - Shell Smash --- Jynx (F) @ Leftovers Trait: Dry Skin EVs: 4 HP / 184 Def / 68 SAtk / 252 Spd Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk) - Blizzard - Psyshock - Energy Ball - Hail --- Rotom-F @ Choice Scarf Trait: Levitate EVs: 200 Def / 108 SAtk / 200 SDef Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk) - Blizzard - Thunderbolt - Trick - Pain Split --- Naturally, fire-types will give this one a fit. Weavile's Fake Out could help a little, though. The main idea was to lead with cryogonal/weavile using Blizzard and Fake-Out to cover for abomasnow in a Swords Dance. The next turn, a pimped Earthquake could then be delivered to the opposition. Opposing weather could be problematic, as it drops the accuracy of Blizzard. But then again, weavile and cryogonal are pretty capable of doing some decent damage, even without Hail. Or you could use stuff other than cryogonal, such as vanilluxe or perhaps glaceon - I just thought I'd give the old snowflake a spin for once.

Down Is Up

Reduce their offensive with Snarl, Featherdance, and/or Will-O-Wisp, usually. My opening line-up in these sorts of teams usually feature one beat-stick with one/two stat-droppers flanking it. For instance, the dark monotype variant had murkrow/sableye/spiritomb aiding a tyranitar. The fire monotype using it ran Intimidate on arcanine, while houndoom used Snarl and typhlosion started the offensive with Eruption. @ chasedawg98 - Slow, sure. Gimmicky? Naturally. And really, that is why no one in their right mind would rely entirely on this tactic; having part of a team to handle it would be adequate. Here is a link to the old triples/doubles team I ran for it: http://www.pokemonreborn.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=2076
13. Rage Powder is generally reliable, yes. But what about the likes of smeargle using Dark Void or multi-target moves (Blizzard, Heat Wave, Rock Slide, etc.)? Backup TR is always prudent, even if you manage to pull it off the first time. For some reason, TR tends to fizzle out at the most inopportune of moments Just from experience, since my TR teams have had problems with opposing teams who managed to stall long enough to disable the TR piece. Or Dark Void, for the matter.
14. Only one TR piece? Most people kill the reuniclus immediately in triples, or Taunt it. If you ask me, any TR team with only one TR piece is playing a risky game, barring the fighting type (due to its access to Fake Out).
15. @ BeaverRoo - My teacher was good and quite sporting, but her lecture style was sometimes horrifying. She used to teach using a series of questions, each intended to channel your thoughts towards the next in a logical fashion. Carry on long enough, you'd get the whole chapter. Imagine her exam essay questions - if you couldn't answer the FIRST section of the essay, the remainder sections were auto-zeroes since she used the same chain of logic in her answer schemes >.< Nonetheless, worth every bit of suffering in university, since the logical method was very versatile. --- @ Maelstrom - Organic here was more fun in the sense that she didn't focus too much on calculations, but rather, favoured synthesis questions which involved deducing how certain complex molecules were made by combining processes found across the syllabus (e.g. reduction of an alkene followed by free radical substitution to produce a haloalkane, which could then be elongated with a nitrile chain reaction). Good times in the lab, good times :')
16. Between the three of us, we've always found enjoyment in: - Industrial arts (I believe it's called shop class and/or home economics in the USA - no metalwork or welding, but we did learn how to repair leaking pipes/valves, lots of woodwork, basics of tailoring, some cooking, animal/plant rearing, and basic circuitry) - Maths (algebra, calculus, geometry, trigonometry, and statistics combined - locally it's mandatory to do all of them together, but to less depth than the USA system) - Chemistry (we blew shit up, no joke - and we actually scored distinctions in the papers, to boot) XD - Biology (had the most inspiring teacher ever - really taught us how to think) - Physics (to a lesser extent, since we didn't get to learn much destructive stuff - the teacher was awesome, anyway)
17. Terrakion is blasphemous.
18. Just submitted my thesis proposal. FEELING LIKE A BOSS.

19. I'm guessing Will-O-Wisp and an actual non-contact move on shedinja... though just what that move is escapes me.
20. Unless he immediately switched in jirachi and set it up, and swept until only shedinja was left.
21. Spikes? LOL Those would've killed shedinja outright XD
22. On a side note, chansey users typically run heavy stall tactics that can be annoying sometimes, so bully for them, and let chandelure handle those bastard eggs XD But that's just my take on the matter... @ BeaverRoo - You do raise some fair points, but here are my views on SS kingdra - Politoed has to switch out to let kindgra in. Most ninetales users would send it in as soon as politoed is gone, so that may leave a kingdra with one DD out there in the sun. Switching ninetales back out immediately would allow another pokemon on the sun team to soak up the Outrage, or to handle politoed if the kingdra user switched it out. - Killing politoed is usually the number one thing to do when handling rain, followed by a switch to the weather in your favor. Easier said than done, but most competent players manage it somehow XD - Bait the kingdra into using Outrage, and send in something steel-typed if you have it to withstand the hit and... do stuff XD Maybe Paralyse kingdra, change the weather, etc. - Sashed ghosts with Destiny Bond. Nerfed by hazards, but still functional - best used with forretress to sponge the Outrage and Spin hazards away. - Shedinja. Rarely used, but effective. Personally, all my weather teams have one auto-weather if it is available for that monotype, and one wall/tank with manual weather of the same variety. So kindgra usually isn't too threatening to my teams.
23. Earthquake may be good on blaziken, since in a doubles/triples match you could put salamence next to him and not hit your own team with it.
24. Ah, much appreciated. Now I can have breaks IN the library XD
25. Hmm, just started a file, but may take some time to play through even this abridged version XD Quick question - can the music be turned off? Or do I have to mute it, since sometimes I'm going to try and play it in a library
