    Quagsire

I present you with yet another potential abomination: --- Quagsire (F) @ Leftovers Trait: Unaware EVs: 4 HP / 252 Def / 252 SDef Careful Nature (+SDef, -SAtk) - Rock Slide - Substitute - Curse - Recover --- Get behind the Sub, and start Cursing/attacking. Pretty simple, and has the potential to even swallow a Seed Bomb from breloom after a couple of curses (from experience)
  2. Hmm, so what happens if your water gets cut in the middle of setup? Breloom aren't that common in weather teams, but some people do run self-powered Chlorophyll pokemon or manual Sand/Hail... Otherwise, it does sound like a monstrous idea. Unless of course you run into Unaware quagsire attacking from behind a substitute XD (a rarity, but hideously annoying sometimes).
  3. Why ban weather? All types have access to weather moves, which are arguably better than permanent weather in a variety of situations.

    Nonsensical

Hmm, sableye needs the SDef EV's due to doubles being quite saturated with Surf/etc., and Def is due to all the scizor out there (horrible things usually can hit him before WoW activates).
  5. What is the meaning of this nonsense? ... Well, doubles has always been a fun place to wreak havoc with unconventional strategies --- Murkrow (M) @ Eviolite Trait: Prankster EVs: 4 HP / 252 Def / 252 SDef Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk) - Snarl - Tailwind - FeatherDance - Roost --- Tyranitar (M) @ Focus Sash Trait: Sand Stream EVs: 140 Atk / 16 Def / 96 SDef / 255 Spd Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk) - Rock Slide - Fire Punch - ThunderPunch - Dragon Dance --- Soldier (Sableye) (M) @ Leftovers Trait: Prankster EVs: 4 HP / 252 Def / 252 SDef Careful Nature (+SDef, -SAtk) - Night Shade - Taunt - Will-O-Wisp - Recover --- Spiritomb (M) @ Leftovers Trait: Pressure EVs: 4 HP / 252 Def / 252 SDef Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk) - Dark Pulse - Icy Wind - Sleep Talk - Rest --- Scrafty (M) @ Leftovers Trait: Shed Skin EVs: 4 HP / 252 Def / 252 SDef Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - Drain Punch - Crunch - Ice Punch - Dragon Dance --- Mandibuzz (F) @ Leftovers Trait: Overcoat EVs: 156 Atk / 136 Def / 216 SDef Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - Brave Bird - Toxic - Snarl - Tailwind --- A little low on the damage output, but it makes up for that by sheer stalling and/or stat sabotage. Between murkrow/sableye/mandibuzz, the opposition's Atk/SAtk get reduced so much it isn't even funny. Sableye outright halves their Atk with burns (assuming WoW hits), mandibuzz drops SAtk, and murkrow can run a mixture of both. Tailwind accelerates the team to a respectable speed, to a point that even spiritomb's Icy Wind becomes a considerable menace - a +1 for either tyranitar or scrafty becomes a threat then, with a Tailwind to back it. Against teams heavy in priority moves like steel-loaded ones, though, I might face some problems. However, the reduction in offence may help, at least till tyranitar/scrafty/sableye put enough dents in the enemy.
  6. Isn't that what most bosses do? ... Either that, or the two of us seem to run into retarded bosses.

    Dark Spell

True also... But I guess it's an occupational hazard for this being a semi-stall team LOL Perhaps another, later version may include Magic Coat if I can find a decent dark type who uses it. Or perhaps I'll run the old tyranitar/mandibuzz combination.

    Dark Spell

Generally, if I see a Taunt coming, I switch out to someone else

    Dark Spell

Hmm, time to respond to the comments @ FraRPetO - I originally had Sucker Punch on my dark teams, but I decided to play around with different priority moves this time round (Ice Shard, Aqua Jet, and all the Prankster). @ Phazer - Hmm, I'd missed those 4 EV's, so thanks for bringing them up! But as for images, I don't really see the point in them - they just make the page load slower (although I suppose if you're a more visual person than they'd appeal to you more). @ Phazer/Aero - The movesets used here are pretty standard (as Maelstrom said, the team is basically half wall, half attacker), so I didn't see any real value in explaining them; there's nothing particularly new in this team save for the actual pokemon chosen. @ Aero - Beat Up was not so much a Substitute breaker than it was a Sash breaker My old weavile ran Night Slash and that worked just as well - or better - so really, it's a matter of flavor/choice (like the Sucker Punch thing as mentioned earlier - trying to use some other movesets). And you're right about volcarona - sharpedo's pretty much the only one who can take one down if it sets up, or if sableye manages to Taunt it on time. @ Maelstrom - I get your point on Rest nulling status problems, rest assured (sorry, couldn't resist) You may recall the spiritomb's moveset being Shade/Luna's old Sleep Talk set XD @ Ame - The dark type does have some handy tools as you've said, but the issues I have with weather are about speed as opposed to actual weather damage. And that is why I picked murkrow; boosted defences helped with being outsped more than mandibuzz's amazing bulk and weather-proof function Sucker Punch is also good, but it tends to get out-predicted... LOL @ Neo - Yes, it is a singles team LOL And while I do appreciate your coming to my defence, I'll admit that I'm also a little prone to leaving things unwritten/unsaid if I see them as being well-known things
  10. Well, I have finally made a dark monotype for singles that has a tolerable track record (i.e. exceeding 60% win rate without legendaries). So, here it is As for the threat assessment... well, weather seems to give it some mild headaches, particularly of the fire variety. No detailed threat assessment was ever made due to a perfectly ridiculous reason as detailed afterwards... --- Weavile (M) @ Focus Sash Trait: Pressure EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk) - Ice Shard - Beat Up - Brick Break - Taunt --- Soldier (Sableye) (M) @ Leftovers Trait: Prankster EVs: 252 Def / 252 SDef Careful Nature (+SDef, -SAtk) - Night Shade - Taunt - Will-O-Wisp - Recover --- Spiritomb (M) @ Leftovers Trait: Pressure EVs: 252 Def / 4 SAtk / 252 SDef Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk) - Dark Pulse - Calm Mind - Sleep Talk - Rest --- Murkrow (M) @ Eviolite Trait: Prankster EVs: 4 HP / 252 Def / 252 SDef Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk) - Double Team - Toxic - FeatherDance - Roost --- Pterygium (Sharpedo) (F) @ Life Orb Trait: Speed Boost EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spd Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - Aqua Jet - Crunch - Ice Fang - Earthquake --- Scrafty (M) @ Leftovers Trait: Shed Skin EVs: 4 HP / 252 Def / 252 SDef Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - Drain Punch - Crunch - Ice Punch - Dragon Dance --- So, it should be quite self-explanatory... and this team attracts hax like nobody's business. No joke. An infernape actually swept 2/3 of the team with Flamethrower once (even killing sharpedo and a full-HP murkrow), and don't get me started on Paralysis/Confusion (if those two kick in, I can NEVER move. Seriously). So, no threat assessment, since pretty much anything that inflicts Para/Confu on me will win, or once a crit chain starts (which is pretty much always - highly suspicious, there being either zero crits or a chain of them).

    Houndoom

Now that that annoying glitch is done with... here's my houndoom lead --- Houndoom (F) @ Focus Sash Trait: Flash Fire EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk) - Flame Charge - Beat Up - Counter - Taunt --- Flame Charge to speed up if need be, Beat Up as a lead with decent speed is painful, and Counter to kill anything that outspeeds her Physical because I wanted to use Beat Up XD

    Murkrow

Basically a flying version of umbreon, meant to stall out physical attackers. --- Murkrow (M) @ Eviolite Trait: Prankster EVs: 4 HP / 252 Def / 252 SDef Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk) - Double Team - Toxic - FeatherDance - Roost --- Defenses aren't as great as umbreon's, but it does compensate by ignoring the dark-type's usual weaknesses somewhat.
  13. In the First House, you can find a small piece of Time Left Behind.

  14. Taunt's a killer for sure, but what about breloom? Breloom can send shelmet to sleep, and get some Bulk-Ups in
  15. Maybe use something with HP Fire to 'feed' heatmor's power?
  16. @ Ame - Is it sounding sad that I've actually tried all of those songs there, and NONE are the one I'm looking for?
  17. Those would be annoying, yes, but slightly unwieldy XD The best Skill Swap sets IMHO are for doubles as opposed to triples, since they kick in to maximal effect faster and there's less risk of the Swapper being taken down. I also prefer Flash Fire on scizor, though - negates its only weakness and makes it even nastier than it already is And I think one of my possibly most annoying doubles Swap teams was Serene Grace porygon-Z/slaking/porygon-2 Along with Scrappy exploud (Hyper Voice in doubles was terribly fun to troll ghosts with).
  18. Nope, not that one I've tried that one, So What by Pink, and a whole bunch of nananananana songs (even to the extent of Googling seven nas...), but to no avail.
  19. Definitely a new one for me, since I do experiment somewhat with Skill Swap Hmm, but I prefer offensive Skill Swap, such as my Magic Guard metagross with a Life Orb, CompoundEyes heracross, or Tinted Lens volcarona. I think my only defensive Skill Swap was Levitate on chandelure and drapion, but beyond that, I don't think I've run Skill Swap to avoid attacks
  20. All I remember from this rather catchy nineties/eighties tune is seven 'na's in a row. Wut.
  21. Hmm, so far, those three haven't really walled this team unless I make mistakes or get outplayed - dusclops can handle them, as you've mentioned, and rotom's Trick hurts those three decently The one that seems to give more problems here happens to be ambipom - very fast, and most carry moves that hit ghosts hard.
  22. Props to those who know why I picked the names and movesets for this team XD Meant to be a fun ghost monotype, with each ghost using its non-ghost element! --- Blizzaga (Froslass) (F) @ Focus Sash Trait: Cursed Body EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk) - Ice Beam - Destiny Bond - Taunt - Spikes - Bio (Gengar) (F) @ Life Orb Trait: Levitate EVs: 116 Def / 140 SAtk / 252 Spd Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk) - Sludge Bomb - Thunderbolt - Giga Drain - Haze - Demi (Dusclops) (M) @ Eviolite Trait: Pressure EVs: 232 HP / 4 Atk / 136 Def / 136 SDef Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - Night Shade - Focus Punch - Pain Split - Substitute - Waterga (Jellicent) (M) @ Leftovers Trait: Water Absorb EVs: 208 Def / 216 SAtk / 16 SDef / 68 Spd Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk) - Scald - Shadow Ball - Energy Ball - Recover - Thundaga (Rotom) @ Choice Scarf Trait: Levitate EVs: 120 Def / 16 SAtk / 120 SDef / 252 Spd Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk) - Thunderbolt - Pain Split - Will-O-Wisp - Trick - Firaga (Chandelure) (M) @ Air Balloon Trait: Shadow Tag EVs: 16 Def / 224 SAtk / 16 SDef / 252 Spd Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk) - Flamethrower - Shadow Ball - Energy Ball - Hidden Power [Rock] --- Froslass is pretty standard for setup, and gengar's the usual Orbed attacker. Difference here is that I put Haze on gengar, to eliminate opposing setup pieces (without sableye to halve attack, ghosts can't do much against setup on the enemy). Rotom's there because well, I needed someone for the lightning spell! XD Also serves as my burner and to trap chansey/blissey onto one move (hell knows those two always troll ghosts...). Dusclops is a variant on my usual SubPunch dusknoir. High defenses coupled with Night Shade and the classic SubPunch can make it pretty annoying, and I've actually seen some beefy stuff go down to the SubPunch before (excadrill, tyranitar, and aggron included - though the latter are doubly weak to it). Chandelure's pretty standard, HP Rock works against both volcarona and dragonite. Jellicent's also the usual mix.
  23. I don't exactly have an opinion for this topic, but I do have a concept from George Orwell's 'Nineteen Eighty-Four' that'll probably fit: "Whatever that is bad, can only be defined as being as such by means of comparison to that which is good. Thus, to eliminate all that is bad, theoretically one would first have to eliminate all that is good."
  24. K-Pop indeed XD It may look good when you wake up, but it's otherwise nearly impossible to manipulate... :/
  25. No one phazes out a whimsicott Unless of course its own Taunt is disabled for whatever reason...
