"Yeah, that's Soma." Harry answered the artist's question. "We've got a huge biohazard issue here. Calvera, can you go in, and just torch what you can? Without doing too much damage to anyone or the room. When that's done, we need to start prepping for when we release her. Because we can't do anything to her while she's like this. So yeah, Proditor. If you can start prepping in a way that either prevents reconnection with her shard, or get ready to cut her off as quickly as possible, that'd be great. If I can help, sure. Whatever. Just say it if you need something to make that easier that I can do. If anyone else can help. . . I don't know, Lucille, you can control stuff, right? Got anything useful right now? If it helps, I don't know if it's really Soma in there." When two more entered the room, Harry quickly repeated the whole spiel. "Soma wanted to be a god eater. Mistakes were made, complications occured. It failed, and we've now got her able to extrapolate her own body, along with magic metal, and aragami cells. She can also extrapolate others at a distance. Frigus locked her in time, and we're prepping for what to do next."

Well, it seemed like they understood. Harry went over to the intercom once more. "If she either breaks free, or we let her go for some reason, Tattletale mentioned that knocking her out is a possibility if we can't cut off her power. While we're setting up for that, we need to think about containment. If she makes it out, we might not be able to deal with her. Also, good job on the flamethrowe, but just to be safe, if anyone's got anything that might destroy any free floating cells, well better safe than sorry about releasing super evolved oracle cells into the world."

Harry glanced away from the instrumentation that he'd been investigating as Jun and Alyssa entered the room. Not the most useful, he had to say. Though, now that he thought about it, he hadn't seen this woman's abilities yet. "Alright. You probably want to know what the hell is going on, right? Well, Soma decided to become a god eater. And failed. So, it reacted weirdly in combination with a specific effect of her own abilities from another world. She started extrapolating shit, biological stuff, which she couldn't do before, and was wielding fire and a weird magical metal. Frigus locked her in time for the moment. But the moment we let her out, she's going to be a problem. We need to figure out a way to shut off her powers when she's not locked in time, destroy any possible extrapolated Aragami cells in the room, and make sure that if something weird happens, she does not escape. Got that? Hopefully that'll help you determine if you can be useful. Also, remember, if your talent is slicing things, it won't do much, because she's now part Aragami, and likely can regenerate in the way they can."

"Thanks. You've done fine. More than fine." Harry had no real idea when Frigus had gained the ability to trap people in time, but there was no guarantee of how long it would last. Into the intercom, he called once more. "Try to eliminate any extrapolated Aragami cells in there that aren't on Soma. If you can." As long as they things weren't magic, they'd be destroyable, maybe with Mirri's lightsaber? Nothing not made of magic or highly advanced meta materials--and even those would be a gamble--would really be able to stand up to something the temperature of the sun.

Hopefully the Ethereal was still listening. <"You'll need to shut down Soma's power."> If Proditor could arrive in time, and do what he could with the parahuman powers, they might have a chance. "I'm calling Proditor! He may be able to shut down her connection to her shard, causing the grown cells to decay, so hold on till then." Hopefully the removal of the power would do it, because if the cells reproduced, it might not. After all, the power wasn't magic. It simply extrapolated the cells, which could go on from there. Might as well ask Tattletale. "If you're not at your limit, you think that there'll be offspring cells, and will they remain at the same extrapolated level?"

<"Soma took the god eater test. Failed, became a sort of Aragami thing. Need help down here."> They definitely needed help. Time manipulation hadn't worked, and Mirri's force hadn't helped much. However, Frigus' attempt seemed to work. Spectacularly well. Harry spoke into the phone again. "Tattletale. Frigus froze Soma in time, it seems. Advice? Anything we need to watch for here, or a possible method of solving this we should use?"

"I was listening. I was a fucking moron, and forgot about it when I was trying to sway her to stop. But so was she, and so was the doctor in charge here." Harry pulled the phone away though he didn't end the call, and shouted out into the intercom, and secondarily to Sakaki, "She's got biological extrapolation now! She's altering herself using her power and Aragami cells rapidly. She's also got huge range, and can do this on others. Priority is containment. She's going to have the ability to convert other metals into one specific type, and can also control fire. You need to make sure she doesn't escape at all costs. She's working on instinct right now, so you can rely on her actions to be panicked, and irrational." "You can't let her use her power on you! Stay as far as you can while still maintaining an effective presence." This was quite the snafu. They couldn't stay back too far, or risk letting her escape, and coming too close would mean drawing her attention and getting her power used on them. The three in the room would have to balance that. But they wouldn't be enough, if the power of the aragami combined with extrapolation and some magical metal were anything to judge by. Barely remembering that he'd had it, Harry reached out with his mind, feeling around the room, and listening to every sound he could pick up. It felt like nothing special from his point of view, but apparently Proditor had been able to sense it. Hopefully he would again. Hopefully he would poke at the thoughts running rapidly through Harry's head. Hopefully. Too many of those. And there was nothing else Harry could really do.

Pokemon in Space [IC Chapter #03]
Strider replied to Bfroger6's topic in Unofficial Official RP Club's General
Shelly tossed the shard to Betani. "You know, just because you didn't want to keep it, doesn't mean you didn't want it." She knelt down near Uno on the ground, and cradled her head. "Why'd you take that, Uno? It made the whole place unstable." -
"She didn't tell you then? She's not precisely human. Has an organ in her brain, that gives her the power to extrapolate stuff. You're seriously telling me that she didn't tell you, or you didn't investigate that? Answer that later, do what you can." Harry waved away any protest or exclamations of surprise, pulled out his phone, and jabbed in the number of one of the burner phones he knew to be in the bus. Hopefully Tattletale would pick up. The phone rang once before he knew it had been picked up. Without waiting for a greeting, he immediately started talking. "Soma tried to do a god eater test. Wasn't compatible, and it seems that the doctor in charge didn't account for the Pollentia Gemma or Corona, or maybe just the effects of her power. She's not dead though. Kusuke and Frigus have gone in, and I need any info you can pass on."

Harry had remained silent and composed for the initial part of the test. The size of the drill was shocking and intimidating, yes, but there was really nothing to do from here on out. Either she'd survive or she wouldn't. In the few seconds of silence before the eruption of the black swarm, Harry held his breath. And when Sakaki's smile disappeared, even as the man was starting to say "Incompatible", Harry was already forming his own words. "Oh, fuck." She wasn't dead yet, that was certain. Thirty percent complication rate? Or was it something to do with parahuman abilities? God fucking damn it. That could be sorted out later. Plenty of time to call everyone involved a brain dead moron for not thoroughly investigating the pollentia gemma or whatever if Soma survived. "Sakaki. What the hell is happening?"

Harry departed, following the doctors and Soma. Frigus and Kusuke seemed to be working on it, and he might as well be there for the test. Any information gleaned, and insight he could provide, perhaps there was a chance it could be useful.

"It's been a long time, but I do get where you're coming from, with the feeling of helplessness. Why I became a doctor really. Again, I won't stop you, it's you're decision to make." This was just painful. Part of the problem it seemed, was that they'd seen so much combat so soon, when Dr. Ebon had stated that it would be hopefully low stress for the most part. Mustering the resources and preparing worlds for the storm. Of course, since combat had occurred, and likely would continue to occur, that made no difference. However, since she seemed distressed by her lack of anything except her one power. . . "If you survive this, take some online courses through the terminal that Uber and Leet put in the bus, maybe try to get a degree in something, or just get general info. Get psionic power that you might have unlocked, have Frigus help you with your magic. I can make it so you won't bleed, with time. I know you're doing this now, but after it's done, if you beat this, you'd have to be braindead not to try what I'm suggesting." There were so many things wrong with what she'd been saying that it might have taken an hour to point them all out. But it wouldn't be right for him to interfere. He had no authority, and no right. So for now, he just walked up to her, and gave her a small pat on the back. "We've all got flaws, kid. Ones that might result in our dying. Yet somehow, we all got picked for this shitshow. Means there was something useful in us. Yeah, yeah, I know you're not stopping now. So yeah, godspeed, good luck, break a leg, and don't get your insides devoured by this alien hivemind grey goo shit you're so keen on trying."

"If you'll excuse my complaining one more time: do other humans have your power? No. Is it useful? Generally. So what are you other than super human?!" Harry exclaimed as the girl continued. He meant super human simply in the sense of beyond human, or having abilities that a human wouldn't have. That was all, and Soma certainly fit those requirements.

Damn. Harry simply followed along to wherever the tests would occur. He at least wanted to be there. As he was walking, he contemplated sending out a signal to Proditor, but it'd likely be no use, not now. If something bad happened, he could signal the psionic. And he still had a phone. . . But there was no one to call? Satomi wouldn't be much use, Mirri held a phone, and Soma the other, if he was remembering correctly. And there were some unclaimed phones, back on the bus. So. . .he could call Tattletale, if something went wrong. But for now, he couldn't, at least without anyone hearing him. And if Soma or Mirri heard, that might make any thing that he tried exceptionally difficult.

Pokemon in Space [IC Chapter #03]
Strider replied to Bfroger6's topic in Unofficial Official RP Club's General
"Uh, yeah, sure. Axew, help Kai out!" Shelly called, distracted. She knelt down, and began as quickly as possible to try to pry the crystal out of the frail woman's hands. She'd start of gentle, but if necessary, she wouldn't hesitate to use what strength she had. As she worked, something crossed her mind. "W-wait. Why the hell were you going to slap her if you don't want the crystal?" If Shelly succeeds in extracting the crystal, she'll begin to search for a way of hopefully reinserting it in the tree, or wherever it came from. -
"I'll find him if anything happens. Now, or later." Harry nodded firmly, face twisted in the slightest of scowls. He'd heard before, but it was interesting to note that her father was the leader of the group that she had commented would be the biggest and most difficult to take down. In response to her final statement Harry stated forcefully, "Good. Do it. Only known you for 48 hours or so, but you seem like a good person. One of the best in this crew. So, don't die, Julie." That was all he could do then, except hope that the genetics test came back negative.

". . .Yes." Harry thought for a moment, before continuing. "Five things, I think. First of all, if you didn't know, the fatality rate is about 60%, if you didn't know. So worse than a fifty fifty shot for you if you pass the genetics test. Based on what some technicians told me." She wasn't going to stop, that much was obvious. But he needed to at least try. "Second, the fatality rate has decreased over the last year. Don't know how much, but you could probably have a better chance of surviving if you wait a bit." Patience didn't seem like something she'd be willing to utilize. "Next. If you want to hide behind more power, Proditor has been able to unlock psionic powers in ordinary humans. I urge you to consider that if you need more capabilities." Harry pointed to some small instrument nearby in prepping for the test, and levitated it a few inches up. "And finally, if you do this, and you die, is there anyone I should tell back on Earth Bet?" Harry doubted that he could convince her to stop. But, there was still the genetics test, and until that was done, the possibility of death was not impending.

"Well that's stupid, saying that you'd be weak without what makes you powerful. And, I doubt becoming a god eater will make you more skilled." Inferiority, it seemed. It made sense, for the age, and for the fact that her powers were unpredictable, limited, and paled in some respects to other magic here. "You'd simply be hiding your humanity under another layer of power. You know this can be fatal, right? And you still want to do it?" He wasn't going to stop her. Hell, he'd only known anyone here for about two days. He had no real right to do anything except reason with them. He looked towards Dr. Sakaki, trying to read if the man had encouraged this course of action, or preyed upon Somatatrope's feelings of inferiority.

Harry had begun to speculate about what was happening while he heard the other doctors speaking. It was hard to believe that there were four people on the team foolish enough to try this. . . But, Harry told himself, it could very likely be that they had some way of minimizing the risk, or that they only wished to see whether they were compatible through the genetics test the doctors were prepping. After all, if they were compatible, maybe in a year or so, the fatality rate would be much lower. When Soma had entered the hallway leading to the room, Harry had frozen. She was going to be taking the test? One possibility was ruled out immediately, that herr powers would give her an edge on surviving this, if he'd understood what she did correctly. It also registered to him that the doctor had called her Julie. It made sense that she wouldn't use a cape name on a medical procedure . . . Interesting. When Dr. Sakaki entered the infirmary, and posed his question, Harry remained motionless for a bit, before nodding, expression blank. He made his way over to stand a few feet back from wherever the girl would be getting her blood drawn, then coughed, and spoke. "So. . .you're going to try to become a god eater? Why? If I might ask."

"Wait, what?!" Harry asked aloud, before realizing that he could simply think what he wanted. As quickly as he could, Harry thought <I'm going to use that to get your attention when I need it if that's alright.> After he had thought his, he waved away the two doctors who had likely looked up at his exclamation of surprise. After that, he went back to lounging against the wall, and continued to fiddle with this newfound power, feeling out the walls outside the room, and listening to the two doctors speak from much farther than he normally would have been able too.

After he'd asked the two doctors what they were doing, and received an answer, Harry leaned up against one of the walls, waiting. It'd be interesting to see what the method behind this was. Did they need a blood test, or could they determine it all from genetics, and thus through a cheek swab or something similar? In any case, while he waited, he decided to mess around a bit with the powers Proditor had granted him. He would simply push the boundaries. See what he could create by concentrating, or reaching as far as he could with his new invisible senses. All he was doing was experimenting. And hopefully, he wouldn't give himself an anyuerism.

"Sixty percent?! Well that's a god damn absurd motality rate. Guess you don't need peer review or ethics boards when they all get eaten by the very thing you're injecting into people." Harry groaned. Their tech had looked good, but this was absurd. Even if this was their only option, one would think that basic gene therapy would be able to get a percentage a lot lower than that. From what they'd said, the initial compatibility test was about seeing if the user would reject the oracle cells, and the secondary test was to see whether the oracle cells would reject the human body. This should be an extremely easy task. Take a sample of the DNA of all god eaters, map it, and cross reference it to see what's common across all of them. Not foolproof of course, since there might be multiple snip combinations that made them suitable for the cells, or the compatibility might only be based on certain factors in the oracle cells--though being completely independent nondifferentiated cells made that seem unlikely. Could be random, but that usually didn't happen in science unless you were at a fundamental level. It usually just meant you didn't know enough. Harry's brow creased, as he continued to stare at the scientist. In the end though, Harry's face softened, and he addressed the scientist. "Nevermind, thanks. Won't keep you any longer. You seem so terribly invested in your work." Harry stepped out of the laboratory, and headed down to the door that had been marked as the infirmary. He peaked in the door to make sure he wouldn't be disturbing too much before entering, and taking a look around.

"God eaters are created, right? Sakaki mentioned something about it being a dangerous operation. What're the complication and fatality rates, and what's involved?" Depending on when these new God Eaters arrived, perhaps the (other) good doctor would be kind enough to let Harry inspect blood samples from before and after the tests among other things.

Harry made his way around to the instruments. Most he recognized, though some were a bit crude in method. Still, early twenty second century didn't seem like a poor guess, and they were already on the road to miniaturization. A little while in,one of the occupants of the room began glancing curiously at him and approached. Harry forestalled any queries about his right to be in the room, saying, "Paylor sent me down here, to get a look around. Mind telling me what you're working on? Routine maintenance, or prepping for something, or actively doing work? I've got some experience in the field, and even if I can't be of help, I'm sure I can follow along to satisfy curiosity."
