  1. Diverse casts don't make great movies. Great actors, directors, and writers do.

      Agreed. That's why it makes me mad when ppl who aren't fit for the role get cast just because of their fame (looking at you, Emma in Beauty and the Beast). But also is true that if ppl casted the best actors for the job, it'd naturally be a diverse cast, since, of course, not just a single race has all the good actors :P

      There is also more to it than that. Sometimes the race of a person can be a factor in the movies quality, because it might not fit within a certain setting.

       

      For example, If you have a movie set in Nazi Germany, and the main protagonist is a Gypsy or Jew, you aren't going to cast me, cause I'm Asian. That would ruin the historical aspect of this movie, and detract from the experience.

      ^yup that's also part of what I meant when I pointed out the match of actor to role. As a writer, too, I'm sure most would like their careful choice of characters race respected :P
