In terms of general fictional works, Video Games are generally better for Worldbuilding than Books or Movies.
The main reason for this is that Video Games can allow the player to explore their surroundings as they wish. A Book and a Movie are usually one straight line of story. As a result, in a Book or Movie, Worldbuilding often has to be integrated within the actual story, rather than through notes and books scattered about in a Video Game. In a video game, its really the player's choice whether they want to learn about the world or not.
But even then, I do expect a Book or Movie to have proper worldbuilding, even if it can't be the most detailed due to having to balance that with an actual plot.
