Rebirth
Ah, it has been far too long since I made one of these things. Welcome, everyone, to my first Generation 6 RMT! The team name is because of Blaziken, named Phoenix, and becaue of the revival of what used to be a very stale game. As such, I built this team around Blaziken!
@ Leftovers
Trait: Flash Fire
EVs: 192 HP / 64 Def / 252 SDef
Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Stealth Rock
- Lava Plume
- Protect
- Hidden Power [Rock]
Starting off with a familiar face is Heatran. When choosing Blaziken as the focus of this team one thing popped into my head, Talonflame. Heatran is by far the absolute BEST counter to Taloneflame and completely walls it, which is perfect considering Taloneflame destroys Blaziken. However, I didn't really want Heatran to be a defensive wall as I prefer the special walling variant. I have Steal Rock to break sashes and sturdy Pokemon, as well as to help with Pokemon like Talonflame, Volcarona, etc. It's also just generally helpful with chipping away at the opponents team in general, which in turn makes Blaziken's job easier near the end. Lava Plume is basically a STAB attacking move, while Protect is there to get lefties recovery. HP Rock is to also deal with Talonflame and the like, but I might go back to roar if needed.
@ Choice Band
Trait: Huge Power
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- Return
- U-turn
Diggersby here is mainly on the team to deal with Aegislash. That thing is pretty common, and very dangerous in the right hands, as such I didn't want it ruining my day, so I brought on the best Aegislash check. Courtesy of Shofu, since I wouldn't have even thought of it until I was stomped on several times. The moveset should be easy to understand. EQ OHKO's Aegislash with Choice Band, and its little Kings Shield will not help save it. Stone Edge is for coverage, while Return is for extra STAB. U-turn is there in case I predict some switchs, pretty situational, but it does help some, plus the momentum it gives is always nice.
@ Life Orb
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Psyshock
- Draco Meteor
- Energy Ball
- Hidden Power [Fire]
Standard Latios from Gen 5 says hi. This guy is my special sweeper, and there isn't really too much to explain. He has nice synergy with the other members, so I thought it best to use him as my special sweeper.
@ Expert Belt
Trait: Illuminate
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Rapid Spin
- Ice Beam
- Scald
- Psychic
Now here is where the team is iffy. You see, two Pokemon with a ghost weakness is bad. Why? Gengar, that's why. However, I haven't thought of any decent replacements other than one or two. Those being Hitmontop and Forretress. Regardless, Starmie is the teams spinner(although probably soon to be replaced). The moveset is common so not much really needs to be said. I only have Expert Belt because Life Orb wasn't really working out, and Lefties seems like a waste on such a frail Pokemon.
@ Blazikenite
Trait: Speed Boost
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- High Jump Kick
- Fire Punch
- Swords Dance
- Protect
Here he is, the star of the show. Mega Blaziken, the one, the only, Crusher of Souls! I'll be honest, the only difference in this set as to the one that was used in Gen 5 is Blazikenite. Other than that, it is a fairly common set to use, and its really effective. Blaziken here always comes out late game and cleans up house. I will almost always Mega Evolve with Protect giving me a 100% safe evolution, and a nice +1 speed. If I know that the opponent will switch out, I will Mega Evolve and Swords Dance instead. After that, everything dies. High Jump Kick is a nice powerful STAB, and even the bravest of Fairies cower in fear of taking a hit from this. Fire Punch is my fire STAB of choice as I didn't really like the recoil from Flare Blitz.
@ Leftovers
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SAtk
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Will-O-Wisp
- Volt Switch
- Hydro Pump
- Pain Split
Rotom-W only got better this gen, and as such, is my way to deal with Azumarill. Like Talonflame, Azumarill can easily wipe the floor with Blaziken, even more so with its new found fairy typing. Which is why I felt that Rotom-W was my best shot of dealing with it. Like most of the team, the set is common. Only difference probably being the evs. Which, again, I'm sure have been used like this before. Regardless, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
That's it. I look forward to making more of these in the future. Gen 6 is really fun so far. And if you have a suggestion for a replacement spinner for Starmie, let me know.
and no, defog is not an option.
Cheers.
