E17 Obtainable Pokemon List Changes [Potential Spoilers?]
Gh0stStark replied to Endstrom's topic in Reborn City
"Scizor is way too overrated. First thing, compared against fire mons (or electric ones with fire moves, or generic popular ones with the very common hidden power fire...), that thing's slow. Swords Dance, isn't Dragon Dance, doesn't raise speed or something... While setting up, you can safely switch in to sweep it. Its mega loses Technician, too. Technically, it's one of those "one trick ponies" in battles. Only reason why it is not available, is probably the remaining in-game battles." - First and foremost, who tries to setup with a Scizor before dealing with possible checks, or at least scout the opponents team? - Second, it's speed is irrelevant. Bullet punch after one - one - Swords dance will make damn sure that many pokémon neutral to it will be long gone before they even touch it, while fairy types and rock types lacking solid rock can't even think of switching in; - A bread-and-butter Bullet Punch/Superpower/U-turn(or knock off)/Swords Dance set, is the nightmare of stuff like stall Clefable, those accursed Chanseys, Cresselia, Mamoswine, Tapu Lele (yes +2 U-turn kills this thing), Tapu Bulu, Azumarril, Mega Mawile, to name a few. The amount of Heatrans I have murdered on the switch is absurd. - Third, keep in mind that with it's bulk, Scizor can, and most often than not will, get atleast two Swords Dances on the bag, at which point there's no such a thing as a safe swich, because if it's counters are gone, it will likely murder the rest of the team, or if the opponent's timing in sending their counter out is off, said counters are dead. -Fourth, it's mega still gets technician, but that's irrelevant. Mega Scizor is very inferior to the original Scizor. With a life orb, Scizor's damage output far outclasses it's mega's. Leftovers or even a shell bell, thanks to scizor's high damage output, are too good to be ignored, considering it also has access to Roost. - Lastly, one trick pony? Scizor has the stats and coverage of an awesome attacker, the bulk and potential damage of a tank, and with access to moves like: Defog, Tailwind, Knock off, Toxic, Protect, Roost and Counter, it can run a very reliable support set that will still deal damage, all you have to do is be creative. Scizor is a monster, dude. Even if it is my favourite pokémon, Ame is damn right about not giving it to us before Hardy, and maybe even before Sapphira, because some dragons don't get flamethrower, and fery few dragons resist Steel. -
E17 Obtainable Pokemon List Changes [Potential Spoilers?]
Gh0stStark replied to Endstrom's topic in Reborn City
me rn Finally, Garchomp-dono and Aegislash-dono can grace my team with their presence and make my reborn experience reach Batman levels of awesome, though I feel a disturbance in the force coming from no Scyther in EP17... -
Rebalancing Pokemon base stats
Gh0stStark replied to Please Delete my Acount's topic in The Mod Market
I don't really know If you have ever played those but, you could always do something along the lines of Blaze Black and Volt White. Buffing the base stats of >465 BST pokémon and revamping their movepools and maybe abilities. For pokémon with base stats above 465, you could always rework their stats and only add more points on those that would really need it. Depending on your sense of balance, it could really make a new run of reborn pretty interesting once ep 17 comes out, since even some gen VII mons could really benefit from something like that. Keep in mind, however, that many of those pokémon are available to us pretty soon and easily, so those changes could really damage the challenging essence of reborn, which would be kind of lame. -
As long as the post game includes: sidequests with stories that are worth being told, exploration of new areas, satisfying character development/interactions, and most importantly, contributes to the game's sense of fulfilment, then yes, it's worth it, and I'll most likely play it. If the only thing a post game experience has to offer is collecting stuff, lame ass achievement grinding ( to show off on steam, psn, etc) then it's a huge waste of time, and even huger a disappointment if the overall experience of the main story was trully enjoyable (Pokémon Sun and Moon). To me, whatever content to be experienced after the conclusion of the main game shouldn't just inflate gameplay hours, they should enrich the gaming experience as a whole and if possible, live up to the quality standards set by the main story.

Thanks for pointing that out @Yagami. After a little checking on my save, I realized I skipped the ID tag sidequest. Time to train my Milotic. As for your Milotic @KindleofDreams, go with haze or mirror coat instead of dragon tail, since Milotic isn't really a phazer/pivot. Personally, I find the combination of recover and mirror coat too awesome to pass up, as it deals with special attackers pretty nicely. With Lanturn I'd go with discharge, and swap confuse ray with thunder wave, since it's a more efficient way to cripple opponents and more reliable than discharge's 30% paralysis chance.
-
Milotic can be rather tricky to play and Reborn still didn't give us the three TM's necessary for some Milotic sets to really work, Toxic, Protect and Scald. You could, however, still manage something with it depending on what you hope to achieve. Breed a Milotic with Mirror Coat, run a maximum hp ev investment and give it 156 def/100 spdef ev's, an impish nature + marvel scale, give it a flame orb (found in chrysolia springs). With a moveset consisting of Mirror Coat, Recover, Surf and Aqua Ring, you have a solid enough wall that can't be OHKO'ed by unboosted stuff, can stall to death, and also ruins quite a few special attackers, all that assuming Milotic is properly supported by it's team. Galvantula is a good partner for this set, for sticky web will almost always ensure that Milotic will be able to recover before being hit. To make up for a lack of Toxic, you could also place on your team something with access to toxic spikes, that way you can still toxic stall, and since Milotic is already burned(flame orb), it won't fall prey to opposing Toxic. On a rain team you can swap Surf for Hydro Pump if you feel the risk is worth it. Assuming it hits, Hydro Pump can one shot weakened opponents that don't resist it and don't have any particularly high special bulk.

Keeping the old sprites as easter eggs could be a nice treat for those who prefer them. Regarding the new ones, the dark skinned pcs look pretty cool - nice measure of details and sober, well matched colors. Much better than the old ones imo. The fair skinned ones however, look somewhat bland and lackluster, especially if compared to the other two, and could use some touch ups colorwise and a little more detailing. Since they aren't finished yet, that will probably change though. Thanks for the update Jan!!!!

Showdown is becoming home to some really lame bitches. Dude packs a "team" with some of the most abused mons in OU: Tkoko, Kyurem-b, Nihilego, Latios and Landorus-T. Same dude rage quits when my SD Garchomp starts mopping the floor with his sorry ass after the rest of my team delivered burns and paralisys.
His departure line: "Garchomp geeks...get a life."
As if prediction, timing and his lack of skill didn't have anything to do with his defeat. Loser.

ULTRAAAA! ULTRAAAA! ULTRAAA!...Sun and Moon
Gh0stStark replied to ProjectIceman's topic in Pokémon Fan Club
I really hope the new pokémon to be added aren't just UB's. A fifth Fire/Fairy Tapu or at least more (useful) Alolan forms could be really nice. Considering how moderate Gamefreak and Nintendo are being with the info on the trailers, these games really give the impression to have a lot more to show. -
I wouldn't say Hydreigon is underestimated, but quite risky, at least competitively. In Reborn, it could be a dead weight on your team without access to appropriate moves. With access to those moves, however, and maybe a useful hold item, Hydreigon can be a huge asset to any team seeking diverse coverage, or with a gimmicky Work Up set, a very threatening sweeper in game. It's one of the only pseudos I'd go through the trouble of training if I had access to at least U-turn and Flash Cannon. As someone pointed out above, I can't really see Ferrothorn causing trouble to Amaria, provided she runs a Fire Blast Slowbro, which can also mega evolve, but I doubt regenerator would be passed over considering the improved AI. However, there's the possibility of Amaria relying not only on field effects, but on rain as well, making Fire Blast counterproductive, and considering Ferrothorn's moderate special bulk, not as effective a counter as one might think. I could see it among those pokémon that won't be available to us just yet. Two I'm willing to bet won't be available to us as of Ep17 are Dragonite and Salamence. Most of their level up moves are lame, with Dragonite's being somewhat better, but with Moxie and Multiscale as well as Dragon Dance, those things are more than capable of murdering everything in their path. Not to say we could always put them on the same team as Ninjask. I could say the same of Tyranitar, who naturally gets the EdgeQuake combo, and can also have Swords Dance baton passed to it, but with 61 base speed and it's glaring weaknesses, it could be a far safer pseudo legend to be given to the players. I think it's unlikely, however, that we'll get it in the deserts. Tanzan seems more like the kind of place one could find a Larvitar, given it's pokedex entries. We could find a Gible in a cave hidden in the deserts, but probably after we fight Titania. Dig can be exploited, but Garchomp has access to Fire Fang via relearner. With an Adamant nature, 252 ev's in attack and Ninjask to baton pass Swords Dance, Garchomp could easily be the death of Titania's team. Sand Veil could always be added to the equation.

All pokémon but six evo lines and legendaries not available... I don't think that it would make sense for stuff like Gengar, Gyarados, maybe even Garchomp to be among those, when the likes of Blaziken and Aegislash can be far more destructive with their perfect level up learnsets. Either Amethyst suddenly became very generous, and will give us every obtainable pokémon, via wild encounters or individual events, or all pokémon can be found but with certain conditions limiting which ones we'll be able to get, like some of them still being the result of a choice or random event that can't be repeated (starter selection, mystery egg, etc). Either way, availability doesn't equate to viability, with the raising of some pokémon being impractical at this point, relying not only on Tutors and TM's, but on breeding moves too. Also, just being able to catch a strong pokémon doesn't mean you're forced to use it, so even if stronger things will be within our reach, they'll only break the game if we make use of them. I could be wrong, or maybe things changed but before the release of ep16, when alpha or beta testing started, Ame updated the chart of obtainable mons - hopefully she'll do the same this time so our curiosity can be sated.

Reborn's Top 5 Least Favorite Pokemon
Gh0stStark replied to Filthy Casual's topic in Pokémon Fan Club
Hence why it's one of my favourite grass types. It's depiction is flawless. Tengu are awesome yet fearsome mithycal creatures, being masters of magic and craftiness, hence why they were worshipped by ascetics and ninjas. The mean look is even more suiting because sometimes tengu are regarded as wrathful or at least easy to anger. Now let's see. I can't really make a list of the pokemon that I hate, because I'm generally willing to train pretty much anything, provided they have their uses in battle, or at least can offer some fun. There is, however, one type I hate. All things have it's exceptions, so I'll still make use of it's assets that prove worthy of consideration or appeal to me in some way or another. I hate all fairy types excluding: Alolan ninetales, which was a great asset in Moon after I traded a Rowlet for it. It's Iv's weren't perfect and it was Modest natured, but it had snow warning. Aurora veil, Nasty Plot, Moonblast and Blizzard mopped the floor with almost all opponents in game. It's performance online wasn't as shabby as I thought it would be either, a very nice pokemon; Klefki, for the great support it offered my team whenever I used it in battle, plus it's a steel type - which to me is insta-love in most cases. Tapu Koko and Lele for being great at what they do without being outright broken and their designs leave nothing to be desired. Fini and Bulu are lame tho. Why i hate the rest of the fairy type (can be a long read): -
I'd be a young student in the ways of Aura Manipulation. An aspiring Aura Guardian coming to Reborn in order to learn from a meditation/martial arts master of great renown, while also hoping to undergo the league challenge as a means of attaining personal growth. As such, I wouldn't really have a fixed home, I'd alternate between travelling and staying at Apophyl for a while in order to learn. Before I left, my grandfather who's an Aura Guardian and my master, forbid me from making use of my abilities. Solving matters only by means of pokémon battling or diplomacy. "Your trainning isn't complete yet! I'll know right away if you disobey me, brat!" said the old timer. Obviously I didn't disobey him, that's why I found myself in all sorts of life threatening situations, and sometimes shamefully acted like a pussy. Kiki, my would be teacher was killed. So I continue on my secondary goal of challenging the league while still being dragged into all this Meteor mess. Eventually, after the lame ass champion was defeated and lost her mind (lol), one of the gym leaders asked me to become champion. I don't know where all this will lead, but I will do it, I guess. Wanna finish my Aura training tho. I need them jedi powers. If I were to reside in Reborn i'd settle atop Ametrine mountain. Beautiful place with lots of strong pokemon to spar with. Plus clean air. It feels good. My team: LucarioM - Teacher CharizardXM - Punisher Suicune - Serenity GalvantulaF - Temperance ScizorM - Avenger GarchompM - Stoic

Well, gens 1 and 2 have some very charismatic mons, a few competitive gems that are still relevant and very fun to play with, so I'll adress those two. Gen I Gen II

Apparently, a sentient piece of mineral took another step towards death by old age. Hopefully, senility won't make your memory any worse. I wish upon you the treasures of life: lots of health (physical and emotional) and vigor (again physical and emotional). Nappy borfday.

What Roar (me) thinks your Duel Spirit would be

I love this card! If Darkness Metal Dragon is dead, as long as you have this baby you can still swarm. -
What Roar (me) thinks your Duel Spirit would be
Gh0stStark replied to Wolfox's topic in General Discussion
Okay. This seems fun. Back in my kid days I used to be a huge Duel Monsters nerd addict. Hidding my deck on my backpack in order to play with the kids at school, or downright skip class to play with my friends. I used to play a spellcaster-themed field control/lockdown deck, that relied on Secret Village of the Spellcasters and Sorcerer of Black Magic coupled with quite a few magic and trap cards to give'em hell, support monsters like Breaker the Magical Swordsman, Dark Magician was also present for show at first, but I found it to be a pretty easy to summon beat stick with good gimmicks like Dark Magic attack. Dark Magician of Chaos was my favourite card both for being useful and being a gift from my best friend at the time. Even though I aged, I still enjoy playing the Tag Force series once in a while. In the games I almost always run a dragon themed deck with some degree of field control to keep annoying traps in check. Swarming the field with powerful dragons via Red Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon makes me feel good. As for my favourite pokémon, that's hard to say with certainty because there are more than one, but let's go with Scizor, the Awesome Crabmantis of Doom. My favourite types are Steel, Fire and Dragon. -
My opinion on Rejuvenation (Probably spoilers)
Gh0stStark replied to Vhandrake's topic in Rejuvenation
I don't mean to sound rude to Jan or you, but reborn does just that without giving that feeling of trying way too hard that sometimes rejuvenation gives. I agree that there are still some dialogues that could use some polishing, but I wouldn't worry about them since Jan shows solid improvements with each new version. I started with V7, then replayed the game when V8 came out and it felt like something else and V9 didn't disappoint, it was great in fact. The plot thickened, immersion was improved in certain segments, the story reworks were quite welcome and it has made a great job at getting the hype for v10 started. TL;DR Think of Rejuvenation as a growing kid. -
If megas count, despite being strong Mega Salamence looks hideous. As for non megas I think Staraptor, Talonflame and the majority of the dragon type take the cake for me. Staraptor doesn't look like a bird of prey, that "raptor" in it's name is almost insulting and that emo hairdo is ridiculous; Talonflame may come as a surprise but it looks too round, and since it's based on a falcon, that roundness is pretty out of place. Falcons are sharp looking with a lean build; Most dragon types don't look like the awesome dragons present in most forms of literature and myth. Instead of resembling dragons, wyverns, wyrms and drakes, they look like overdesigned dinosaurs trying way too hard to be cool only to fail miserably at that (Kommo-o, Palkia and Dialga).

What's your favorite good design/bad pokemon
Gh0stStark replied to Asher_Blackfyre's topic in Onyx Arcade
Vikavolt was a huge disappointment. It looks great, that special attack is awesome, levitate is great too but in battle I don't really like using slow stuff, even though I used to play some stall/trick room. The meta has become too fast paced and hard hitting for slow stuff to survive when they are weak to fire and not very bulky. I can see it shinning on a balanced monobug team, or with a combination of sticky web and tailwind or maybe a trick room team, it hits very hard and in my opinion it has a better typing than volcarona but unfortunatelly, speed kills. -
It's complex to answer that question not only regarding myself but also, regarding people as a whole. A optimistic approach/view or a pessimistic one, might be dictated by the individual's mindset at a certain point in their life or by the situation they happen to find themselves in, by the kind of problems they are dealing with or all of those at the same time. Therefore, i believe that being optimistic or pessimistic are circumstancial condititions in which no person, should permanently place themselves in. If you're a hundred percent optimistic, you're in danger of being deceived, disapointed, tackling stuff that is beyound your abilities and sometimes making choices that could end up destroying you. If you're downright pessimistic, you're in a breeding ground for lost opportunities, your enjoyment of life will be limited, your self confidence and esteem will eventually be in danger. So where should people stand? On the middle ground called realism. You see problems and situations for what they are, think about how to act or solve them, then prepare yourself to deal with them always keeping the consequences of your actions in mind. Think about the possibilities, and if you ever find yourself in a situation where it seems you don't have a choice, look and think harder and perhaps, your choice will be under your nose or you will find a means to create yourself a choice. If it's not a life threatening choice, or something that'll harm other people, and more importantly, if it's something that only depends on you, and you alone to have a very positive impact in your life, then do it. Do it giving your best to ensure that positive outcome.

I'm thinking about doing something with talonflame now... or kyurem. I mean, ice dragons are supposed to look cool (sorry), not weird like kyurem does, and talonflame looks a little too round. I don't know where to start with any of those though. I don't even know if I'll do them, but thanks again for the appreciative responses. You guys rock.

Charlotte's reaction would be nothing compared to what Saphira would do. As you so accurately mentioned, Charlotte acts as if she's in control, but upon knowing the thuth, that facade would most likely crumble, her personality could get a slight change after that but that's it. Saphira, on the other hand, is always insanely protective of her sisters. Just imagine if (when) she finds out that her little sister was scarred for life and blamed herself (yes, Charlotte blames herself, she just denies it) for a terrible thing that was never her fault. Miss scaly underpants would be out for blood, and I wouldn't be stupid to get in her way.

Thanks for the nice words guys. ^ I downloaded and checked it. The pixels are the same size as the original sprites's, but the drawing itself is bigger. I have a few more sprites here, but since some of those weren't introduced in the game yet, I don't know if their positioning is OK, and I don't think some look that great. I'll upload them to the initial post, though. Feel free to share your thoughts. If anyone feels like putting the sprites in the game, they're welcome to do so.
