  1. Bradwr goes to the house, with the open door. He just manages to dodge a vase thrown at his head, as he sees a blonde woman who seems to have been the one to throw it. "I won't let you take me so easily!" she shouts, before taking a second look. "...You're not one of the invaders, right? I've seen you around town... so sorry, I thought the soldiers were coming." She glances around. "They probably still are, right? Well, I can't exactly stay here... you're going to the ships, right? Could you escort me to my shop on the way? I need to grab something there. I'll make it worth your while." Bonus objective: Protect Leslie. As Bradwr returns outside, he is rejuvenated by Johan's song. Bradwr may act again. Player Status: 2/100 XP Enemy Status (Stats):
  2. "Then the harbor's where we're going first. We'll secure a ship, and see if we can find the target while we're there." Winston says, and sets his horse to trot into town. ------------------------- "...Well, I guess that's agreed then. Let's get out of here." The young woman says. "I'm Elizabeth, by the way. I can't fight very well, but I can keep you guys on your feet." She heads to the door. ----------------------- The parts of town the two groups wind through are mostly deserted - most of the Pax troops being in the area around the lord's manor, and searching the residential district for... something. But as they approach the docks, they find the group of troops meant to hold it. The time for a fight has come. ---------------------- Jona, another Pax lieutenant, frowns as his men search the dock district. "...We shouldn't be here. This place can't have any military significance." A cloaked man, his face shrouded in shadow, responds. "That is no concern of yours. You will complete your mission." "General Dane doesn't like it either, you know." "That does not matter. He will follow the king. As will you. Continue the search." ---------------------- Player Phase 1 Player Status: 0/100 XP Enemy Status (Stats):
  3. "There's a difference between putting up a fight and just getting yourself killed. I don't think I'd like to do the second one. If we're going out, though, we should all go together - it gives us the best odds." she pauses. "There were some ships coming into port, when the bells sounded. Maybe we could get on one and head somewhere safe, bring whoever we can find." --- Tsidin flies around the edge of the town. It's hard to get any sort of exact numbers, but going by the banners most of the Pax troops are in the residential district and around the lord's manor. The harbor district is mostly lacking troops, and there's a fairly clear path - they must not have had the time to receive the message and send troops to meet the Opus soldiers, yet, or perhaps they trusted that Gerald would deal with them.

  5. "Unfortunately, as Tsidin said, they'll know we're coming - there will probably be resistance. We should move quickly." "And just what are you going to be doing with me?" Gerald asks. Winston looks him over. "Someone tie him up. No point killing a man that can't fight back. Tsidin, you can go on and scout. Don't get into a fight until the rest of us are there." ~~Meanwhile~~ The attack had been sudden. At dawn, the warning bells sounded. Normally, this was just to warn the townspeople to go inside - there were bandits straying too close, or pirates in the bay. Nothing too tough for the guard. Eventually, the bells were silenced, and the townspeople came out. The orange and red armor of Pax was not what they expected. In an inn, a group was collected - only the innkeep and seven others were preset were present, as it was not the season for peak trade and most had gone to their homes at the sound of the bells. The Pax soldiers had not yet arrived - but they'd be there soon. A young woman with a staff paces back and forth. "...I don't think we can stay here." she said finally. "They'll be coming here any moment now." Cassidy, Johan, Mizukara, Yuel, Beatrix, and Bradwr are in.
  6. "As much as I want to warn the capital, even Tsidin would probably be too slow to make it in time. And we can't abandon a mission from the crown in any case." He pauses. "There will be ships in Aica, and Pax is not known for it's naval prowess. We may be able to enter the town and find our target, and then go from here to the capital on one of the ships in the harbor."
  7. "There are more in town, and they'll know you're coming unless they have more confidence in me than I thought. That's all I can say while keeping my honor intact." Gerald says. "This is bad... it's a surprise attack. Probably the first strike of an invasion. If we're lucky, they got someone out to warn the capital to mobilize. If we're not, they've already taken the town before anyone could escape. There should be some time before they get to the capital, though - they don't exactly have Emries quality ships, and if they had already moved on we'd have run into some on the road earlier than this."
  8. He groans a bit in pain before response. "We attack because our king orders it, and we are sworn to his service. I can't honestly say I know his reasons."
  9. The last time that the axeman saw Marl, there’d been a hatchet in his chest. So, he is understandably not concerned about him, focused more on those surrounding him. He didn’t even notice the arrow until it was in his eye, and the man collapsed. Marl attacks! 43, hit! No crit. 4 damage! Axeman D was defeated! Winston rides to strike Gerald. It seems that with the corpses of his command around him, the commander’s guard has dropped some. Winston makes good use of this, leaving the man wounded. Alwine throws a hatchet at the wounded commander. While it does hit, he retaliates in kind - the axe gets a solid hit on Alwine, getting past her shield. Lysander steps into the hills to get an advantage against the progressively more injured man. Aidan steps forward to fight, and makes his declaration. “...Well then, young man. I can respect that. Good and honorable. My name is Gerald of Pax, lieutenant under General Dane of Pax. Come and try to strike me down.” The man hefts his shield and prepares, well aware his armor doesn't do nearly so much against magic as against steel. The fireball thrown by Aidan washes over the shield. It’s damage becomes clear as it burns white hot. Gerald does not scream as it begins to melt in his hand, simply grimacing and pushing forward - until, as it burns through the last of his shield and hits him, he can’t take another step and falls to his knees, severe burns on his chest. The battle is over, although Gerald still seems to be alive, but unable to fight. Prologue End! Player Status: 100/100 XP. Ding ding ding! Level up!
  10. Anea swiftly heals the wounded archer, getting him back on his feet before too much blood is lost. Enemy Phase The axeman, despite the battle clearly being lost, decides that rather than die a coward he'll go down fighting. He attacks Alwine, who blocks and retaliates. Gerald stomps off and assists his remaining man in assaulting Alwine. Player Phase Player Status: 55/100 XP Enemy Status:
  11. Winston rides out of range to be countered as he attacks the spearman. An axe thumps into his legs, causing him to kneel - just in time for the second axe to bury itself in his head. The spearman now dead, Lysander goes to assist with the axeman on the hill. The axeman fails to retaliate. Player Status: 49/100 XP Enemy Status
  12. Aidan goes to attack the spearman assaulting Anea and Alwine. His vision blocked by the knight's shield, he can't see the fireball until it's too late. Alwine, the immediate threat to her charge now deceased, turns her attention on the mage. Player Status: 43/100 XP Enemy Status (Stats:)
  13. Aidan attempts to burn the spearman. He can’t quite see the man, but can definitely hear the shouting. Winston puts away the hatchet for a moment, then goes to relieve Alwine from the assaulting swordsman. The man has about enough time to turn at the thundering of hooves before he’s run through, Winston kicking the body from his lance as he returns to position. Marl tosses Winston his hatchet to prepare for the enemy retaliation, as well as healing him a bit. Lysander also heals. Enemy Phase: The spearman continues to stab at Lysander. Both fighters end up stabbing trees. An axeman heads into the hills to try to down the knight. Gerald, rather than striking Winston again, throws an axe at Marl. The axe strikes the archer hard, and the young man drops. The spearman moves up and tries to strike Anea, but finds a shield in his way. The mage, without much better options, attacks Alwine. Player Phase 9: Player Status: 29/100 XP Enemy Status (Stats:)
  14. Cora blinks as she's left with the provisions. "...What?" she muttered at the slightly confusing order, patting where she knew her weapons were, just in case, before hefting the bag of supplies over her shoulder and rushing after her crewmate - while it seemed that people were avoiding whatever it was that was happening, she may end up needing to assist.
  15. Cora audibly groans at the exchange, rubbing her temples. "...I don't think she means that kind of date, you realize."
  16. Amber, Colony 6 Ether infusion on Elma.
  17. Alwine, after being healed by Anea… ...tosses an axe at the spearman from the hill, before preparing to guard Anea from any who wish to strike her. Meanwhile, Tsidin finally reaches the clearing Kayut had seen from a distance. As the wyvern lands, and it’s rider looks around, at first there seems to be nothing. But then, there's a quiet, almost musical sound. Tsidin can't quite derive the source - it seems to be coming from thin air. Just as Tsidin is about to leave, she notices a woman in odd clothing sitting in a tree, staring in the direction of the battle despite the distance and trees in the way and singing to herself. She stops, without looking at the rider. "So interesting, these soldiers. Not fighting because you really care about the battle, but because you're told to and someone wants to give you a bit of gold. Really weird, if you ask me! But then, maybe that's just how it looks from this distance. I wonder, will you prove yourselves different? Fate has it's plans, and oh those plans seem wonderful! Ah, but I'm being wordy. You should head back to your allies, shouldn't you? What are you doing in a forest, looking at nothing at all?" She returns to her song. Tsidin blinks, and the woman is gone, the echoes of her singing still in the air. On the ground is a ring, with a dull glow. Tsidin has gained an Element Ring! Player Status: 16/100 XP Enemy Status (Stats:)
  18. First levels! Those joining later will be rolled at chapter 1 start. 19. Aidan steps into the forest to throw fire at an axeman. Lysander follows up the attack, running the axeman through. Winston hatchets the swordsman. And Marl follows up. Alwine gets healed by Anea. Alwine, rather annoyed by being burned, chucks an axe very hard indeed. There’s a sickening crunch and the mage goes down. (105/100: DINGDINGDING, level up!) Enemy Phase: Battered by the party’s attack, the enemy regroups and counterattacks. The remaining mage, seeing an opening, goes to burn the healer. The last swordsman takes to the hills for an advantage against Alwine. The axeman takes the swordman's old spot. A spearman steps into the forest and attacks Lysander. Gerald steps forward, facing down Winston. “Been messin’ my boys up real bad haven’t ya? Well, can’t let ya keep doing that!” “That’s some tough armor…” Player Phase 8 Player Status: 112/100 XP! LEVEL UP! Enemy Status (Stats:)
  20. Cora wandered down to the galley shortly after the others, drawn by the smell of food from her other duties. She looked at it suspiciously as she sat, seemingly unsure of whether it was something she could really eat it. "...This is... unique." she muttered to herself under her breath, before scarfing it down anyway - she was too hungry. "Say, about how long to landfall? I figure there's plenty of stuff to be done on the island."
  21. The party prepares for combat… Enemy Phase A swordsman moves to strike Alwine. The other swordsman attacks Winston. Both of the mages decide to burn Alwine. One hits, the other does not. One of the axemen steps into the forest to try to axe Winston. He fails. Player Phase 7 Player Status 77/100 XP Enemy Status (Stats:)
  22. Anea heals herself with some medicine. Enemy Phase ... Player Phase 6 Player Status: 75/100 XP Enemy Status (Stats:)
  23. Archer and Isis Victoria nodded and gestured that the woman might leave, as she wandered over to the bed and sat down. It was nice to be on a fairly comfortable bed, for the first time in goodness knows how long. A uniform... would she be forced to wear a maid outfit? Ugh... After a few moments, she spoke with her master through the link. So, if I might ask, what will our next move be? Or do we mean to let the others thin themselves for a while before we join the battle? Victoria and Ruler Erica paused, thinking of how to respond. "Hm. What I want?" she said, twirling the umbrella and staring straight ahead. The thought of removing the mango from existence came to mind - if she ever saw one again it would be too soon. But of course, that would be stupid. "I don't quite think that's any of your business, but I'll say anyway. My older brother never had any ability to use magic - we're not sure why, despite his heritage. Things have always been hard for him because of it, and despite this he's been there for me since I was a little girl. I'd wish for him to gain the ability to access those magic circuits that are rightfully his, and take the position he ought to have in our family." She said this very matter-of-fact-ly. It was more than a little difficult to tell whether this was the truth or a lie - and of course, being she was a mage, it was entirely possible that Hiroki wouldn't believe her regardless.
