  1. Aside from abusing Bibarel as an HM Slave these are the only Pokémon I've used: I'm planning to train the Mawile you get after Blacksteeple for the eventual battle(s) against Madame X, provided we'll get Mega Mawile until that point. I've also got a Rowlet waiting in my Box that I might use some time, but so far I've had no reason to replace any of my team members.
  2. Honestly I've never seen Aelita as someone that would be especially qualified at leading others and that's what that prophecy seems to imply. Still, Sheridan's Eldest at least claimed that she thinks Aelita would make a fine Sensei, so maybe she is qualified after all. But honestly so far I can't think of any characters that seem like they have "the resolve to lead others". Ah, that nakes sense; somehow I failed to make the connection between the USB drive and the broken transporter. (Even though basically the same thing happens twice in PMD2, which I have played quite a lot.) I wouldn't describe a darkness as "shining like gold", although I suppose the four darknesse could be "fallen" lights. The dark prophecy states that the four darknesses all reign over the destroyed world; if that one female only accounts for one those darknesses that would either mean that the darknesses are losing, or that she'd want or need to share her reign with the other three darknesses that, presumably, had already been defeated at that point.
  3. It lives! \o/ Welcome back Neco; I hope your university work at least paid off after it kept you busy for so long.
  4. Shards are used for Move Tutors and getting certain Pokémon, so having them is useful. You can farm them once you get to Agate Circus, but just like with Heartscales you should have plenty of them if you just pick some up along the way.
  5. I once added a Chansey to my team on Leaf Green on a whim. Occasionally it used Psychic on something, but mostly it was just out of battle healing for the other team members with Softboiled.
  6. Thank you too And yes, a lot of things burned in this run. Particularly those things that had to face Typhlosion. I'm not sure if I'll start any other runs for now; doing four back-to-back runs of Reborn left me somewhat burnt out, plus I played a bunch of other fangames on the side. Worst part probably is that I don't feel like going back to the canon games now because wow, they're way too easy.
  7. Metal Claw has 50 BP, only slightly more than Bullet Punch; an attack with such low BP and no effect to it in general just isn't useful that far into the game. There's little point to it - Steel is super effective against Rock, Ice and Fairy. The first two are also covered by fighting, leaving only Fairy. A STAB Metal Claw against a pure Fairy Type would have 150 BP - the same as a neutral STAB Earthquake and less than neutral STAB Fire Blast or Hydropump. If you want a Steel STAB you should go for something better than Metal Claw, otherwise use the fourth moveslot for more coverage. The best things to mine for are Heartscales, Shards and (Max) Revives. Imo the best fossils are available via ingame events, so mining for fossils is only worth it if you really want a particular one. Heartscales can farmed from wild Luvdiscs, but the ones you pick up from mining should be enough, as long as you don't plan to relearn a dozen moves.
  8. Aelita's recent psychotic episode seems to point her towards being one of the darknesses, but there also seems to be some ambiguity around whether or not she's really Keta's daughter. So I wouldn't rule her out as a potential light just yet. Zetta seems like a good candidate for one of the lights; there's still too much going on with him for him to be stuck with Crescent, plus his appearance in Nightmare City makes clear that he doesn't want to be remembered only for the bad things that he's done so far. ANA's definitely not born of man, but so far she only appears in a sidequest, so I'm not sure how integrating her into the story would go. (On the other hand the Hidden Library questline is optional as well, and yet Karen, Alice and Alan all show up in the story.) She could also be ruled out in that, in a sense, she actually is born of man, because it was humans that created her. Actually, thinking about who could fit what role is pretty confusing with how many characters there are so far, so I'll try and list all the characters that have taken any action in the main plot so far: Spoilered because that's a lot of names and a lot of attempting to cut the list down on people we can actually talk about with more certainty than "might", "could" and "maybe". That leaves us with Maria, Indriad, the Protagonist, Madelis, (A)Nastasia, Melia, Ren, Venam, Zetta, Aelita, Geara, Neved, and Kanon as characters that are personally involved in the plot and who we know enough about to make some definite statements. I'll go out on a limb and claim that the four lights will most likely come from that group, while the four darknesses might either be four out of those as well, or none of them. Assuming the four lights and darknesses can all be found within that group, that would leave the aforementioned "entities" leading the plot as bearing no part in the dual prophecies. Actually, we might have to add the protagonist to that list of entities. The Puppetmaster calls them Interceptor, although it's ambigous if they're truly the one addressed, or if they're the host to the one called the Interceptor. (i.e. us - that'd be some Bravely Default/Undertale sort of meta right there.) Crescent saves them atop Valour Mountain, but also repeatedly tells them to not get involved. Finally past Madame X only knows them as important, but does not know for what reason. Interestingly present Madame X earlier seemed to have no qualms about attempting to murder the protagonist. It's possible these two might be different entities with different goals or with different amounts of knowledge about the situation. It's also possible that they might have earned their importance in whichever way through their actions inbetween those two meetings. Thinking about that, the major events in that timeframe were the whole situation with Angie and the whole Valour Mountain part. None of those seems like it would significantly alter the protagonist's standing regarding how important they are to the world's fate; there's only one event that stands out, namely the fact that they died on top of Valour Mountain, and that Crescent brought them back somehow. I'm... not sure I managed to get anywhere with this trail of thought. I guess I'll just leave it here as food for thought and come back to it later, when I'll hopefully have managed to order my thoughts a bit better. There's one thing I'd like to point out about the various prophecies that were brought up here: We've got the Dual Prophecies, one talking about four lights and one about four darknesses. Then we've got the Puppetmaster's prophecy mentioning eight souls that "shine like gold", so according to this there are actually eight lights and not just four. Finally the fortune teller's prophecy talks about the protagonist and three others - presumably they're four lights, since one of them is described as having a soul that shines with Arceus's light - facing off against only one enemy in a decisive battle. Presumably that one would be one of the darknesses, but the dark prophecy clearly states that there's four of them who will rule. Would this mean that the one person the lights are facing is somehow four darknesses at once? If so, is that because the four darknesses all assimilated themselves into a single being, or are we maybe talking about four instances of the same person? We've already met two apparentally different instances of Madame X, then there's the whole thing with Melia, Maria and Marianette. Maria notably seems to be the only good character so far that has some mysterious powers much like some of the antagonists - Melia also had that "What did you eat for breakfast?!" moment with some Xen Grunts before V9, but that was removed. We've still got Angie's failed ritual, but being inside a Dimensional Rift already means that things are weird. (Nim's and Krystal's abilities seem more like standard Psychic powers to me.) Safe to say there's something going on with that quartet of Maria, Melia, Madame x and Crescent and I feel like we'll barely be able to be sure of anything before more about them is revealed.
  9. Thanks! I guess the first half of my Ground Run was the hardest out of them; I had some issues with low Speed and Fern Giga Draining his way through my team, but eventually got more and more options to deal with troublesome enemies. This run was actually a good deal easier than I was expecting, presumably because my team was so offense-oriented that my weaknesses mattered less. That shows the most with those enemies I couldn't outspeed, where I usually had to find some way to not get destroyed immediately. I've actually never had any luck with the Mystery Egg, go figure.
  10. It's about time to wrap this up, so here's Reborn's (for now) Final Battle: VS Visionary Adrienn This battle took me a few tries, because the Misty Field heavily worked against me. With a mostly Special-based team it proved to be really troublesome that the Misty Field boosts Fairies Sp.Def., especially against Gardevoir and especially Togekiss. The Misty Field also weakens Shadow Ball, so Chandelure couldn't properly damage Gardevoir either. My base team only even got to Florges once. Using Guardian's Drought to boost my firepower on the other hand worked on the first try; Flare Blitz getting boosted and hitting Adrienn's weaker Defense did wonders in getting rid of the more troublesome first half of their team. From there it was pretty much smooth sailing aside from that one painful mispredict I had against Mawile. This battle earned us our 14th Badge, as well as the TM for Dazzling Gleam - which, of course, nothing on the team can use. That's the end of this run, at least until Ep17 rolls around. There's a few more things to do to prepare for the future, but you'll hear about those once they become relevant. Until then, see ya!
  11. You could breed for Bullet Punch; Iron Tail has unreliable accuracy and it semms Lucario doesn't get Iron Head, so BP is really your only Steel choice left. Or use a second Fighting STAB I guess - Power-Up Punch is in its natural moveset, Brick Break via TM, Sky Uppercut and High Jump Kick by Breeding and Drain Punch from E16's move tutors. Around that point is where Serperior really gets going, thanks to Contrary Leafstorm. It is kind of a one trick pony however, especially if you don't breed for Dragon Pulse and/or a good Hidden Power.
  12. Fearow is pretty good. Preferably with Sniper as ability.
  13. Before returning to the City we head back into the WTC to pick up this little guy: Next we complete a chain of sidequests, culminating in finally getting some Grass Coverage in the form of Solar Beam. That's going to be incredibly useful - no more Water-Types threatening my entire team! With that done we head straight for the Devon raid; the Boss gauntlet here starts out with Victoria, cue Battle VS Apprentice Victoria V Most of her team is easy to deal with - only Mienshao is a threat with its high Speed and power. The fact that it apparentally chose moves completely at random didn't help with strategy. After a floor consisting entirely of conveyor belt puzzles we reach the next step of the Boss Gauntlet. Cue Battle VS DJ Arclight Not much to say here; his team is mostly Electric Types, so he gets somewhat of a boost on the Factory Field, but for the most part my team still had more power. He doesn't really have anything bulky in his team either aside from Ampharos, so this battle was just a lot of OHKOs and "down to critical HP"s. After a whole lot more conveyor belts, as well as a scene with Lin and Ame, we reach the top floor of this place, where ZEL is freaking out about some systems having gone haywire. They're pretty agitated and attack us. Cue Battle VS Meteor Admin ZEL IV Pretty easy battle, victory on the first try. I was a little worried about Alakazam and Espeon, since they're pretty fast and have ways to make use of the Field, but Houndoom countered them very well. An explosion wrecks the room, including Magnezone and its PULSE machine. ZERO has a minor freakout, then he leaves for Agate. We head for the exit as well, picking up the somewhat mangled, but alive trio of Victoria, Adrienn and Arclight on the way. That leaves only the Gym Battle with Adrienn now, but I'll get to that some other time. Until then, see ya!
  14. Iirc you need to talk to Karrina in front of her base near the Sewers entrance. She tells you to meet her in the hotel's basement arena for a battle; beat her to get Rock Smash. She'll also invite you to join her gang, which opens up a sidequest.
  15. The only nerf Charlotte got I know of is Typhlosion losing its illegal Energy Ball (though I haven't been around back then). Whoever said that her Ninetales lost Drought is definitely mistaken. It's still got Drought just like it's supposed to.
  16. Which system is your game based on? I successfully PP-stalled on both Reborn and Rejuvenation, so if your game works on the same as those two/either of them you could try messaging whoever worked at the relevant parts of their code. (Don't know who does what, sorry.)
  17. Down in the Water Treatment Center we reluctantly team up with Titania to save Amaria. Beforethat however we need to clear out the WTC of all the poisonous water, forcing us to take out the PULSE Swalot clogging up the drain. Cue Battle VS Pokémon Stopple With the WTC thoroughly flushed the only thing left is to go get Amaria and the Saphire Bracelets from Taka. He complies easily enough, but asks us to at least defeat him in battle so he won't lose face with Team Meteor. I don't want to enable him to keep doing his indecisive little spiel, but might as well show off the battle. VS Meteor Admin Taka Aerodactyl was pretty dangerous here with Earthquake and Rock Slide, so I had to go get Camerupt to deal with it. Other than that there wasn't anything notable about this battle. One thing I don't get here is why Taka couldn't just tell the other Meteors that he lost to us, even if he'd never fought us. It's not like it's an unbelievable claim, considering just about everybody loses to the protagonist? We leave Taka behind and make our way back to Fiore Mansion, but it turns out Team Meteor are already on their way there as well. We run into Julia and Florinia and, together with Titania, we all assume defensive positions in the building to guard the still unconscious Amaria from Team Meteor's attack. We team up with Florinia to swat aside the first two Grunts, than the real fights get started. Cue Battles. VS Agent Blake II and Swag Jockey Fern VI They're both very weak to Fire, so once Haxorus and Walrein are out of the picture there's not much they can do anymore. On to the next battle VS Meteor Leader Solaris and New World Orderly John Meh, I dislike how this battle went, but I don't want to go through the grunts and Douchebag Duo again and again. It's not an easy matchup anyway - Solaris has four Pokémon with Type Advantage over me, plus one that can tank my mostly Special-based offense. John's stupid Whiscash didn't help either. Fuck that thing. Florinia also at times felt like another handicap. If I could save before this battle I would have redone it, but I don't have the patience to go through that whole gauntlet every time just because I'm not satisfied with how I won. One last thing to take care of today: go get Ciel's Badge so we can use Fly to get back to Reborn City. We once again make the trek back to Agate Circus where Ciel slips us a Battle Pass so we can challenge her. Cue Battle. VS Skydancer Ciel Took a few tries until I got the right sequence to take out Archeops, Noivern and Talonflame witout too many losses, but overall not too troublesome. For this battle we got the Suspension Badge, raising our Level Cap again, as well as the powerfull TM Acrobatics. Shame most of my Pokémon are Special. Well that's it for today. Plenty of content for one update, I'd say. Next update may take some time since I'm plannign to collect a bunch of things before heading for the enxt story sequence. Until then, see ya!
  18. So Reborn just crashed on me while fighting Solaris and John at Fiore Mansion.

Solaris was down to just Excadrill and Garchomp, so I am mildly annoyed.

Err, the game only crashed, I still had my save from right before the battles.

Just beat Ciel, in fact. There're still a few things to do. :P

Ooh I misunderstood. Glad that's out of the way :D

It really would have been quite irritating to lose the entire savefile, especially since it's the Fire Monotype I've been posting here. Being forced to leave that one hanging would've left quite a sour taste.

  19. Since we now know that Terra is an agent of Team Meteor we head back to the Circus to confront her. she tries to deny it for about three seconds before fleeing into her computer; we follow after, fighting our way through Terra's Glitch World, where we eventually run into none other than Mewtwo just another missingno.. Cue Battle VS PKMNPKMNT M2 Mewtwo Fromt his point it's only a short walk until we finally reach Terra. Time to stomp her face in. VS M3G4 T3RR4 make it end I went into this battle all confident, but quickly had that beaten out of me. Unaware Quagsire completely took the wind out of my sails. I even had to go grab Guardian from the box specifically to deal with it. To be honest, I think something's not right with that Quagsire - it could tank Special hits like nobody's business, but without Amnesia its Scald couldn't even 2HKO Houndoom or Pyroar. What's up with that? I managed to pull through in the end, but this game once again rather brutally reminded me not to underestimate it. The Badge we got for this battle lets us use Waterfall, so now we can go save Amaria! (Also Titania, I gues...) we also get the TM for Bulldoze, a useful move that, thankfully, quite a bunch of Pokémon in my team can learn. That's it for today - I planned to go through the WTC as well today, but erra took me much longer than I had aniticpated, so now I'm somewhat drained. Expect the next part sometime tomorrow. Until then, see ya!
  20. @thatoneguy9718 If Discharge-spam is your main problem than any Pokémon resistant or immune to Electric could help with that. Piloswine and Dugtrio come to mind. Can't say much more without any info on which of his Pokémon in particular are destroying you. Pachirisu and Kricketune probably won't do you much good in the coming battles, consider replacing them with something else. (Kricketune might be able to help with Sticky Web.) Pidgeot doesn't exactly have a strong showing either for that part of the game; you can make it work if you want to, but it won't carry as much weight as most other Pokémon available now.
  21. @Tacuara Haven't thought about that too much. I could have Guardian use Will o Wisp on it and then try to have Camerupt Amnesia-tank its Draco Meteors. Or just make sure Chandelure gets a Curse in and then wear it down. Edit: Just thought of a tactic that should let me take her out pretty easily. No spoilers for now, you'll get to see it in action once I get around to it.
  22. Terra doesn't actually resist Fire, so my offense should be okay. Her Field might end up being a problem due to the whole Physical/Special-fuckery it causes. Never had much issues with her, even that one time when a game crash forced me to refight her with only three (damaged) Pokémon left. Houndoom could set up Nasty Plots to cripple Mewtwo's offense, although I'm not sure off the top of my head how Dark Type Pokémon are handled on that Field. I know moves just become Normal instead, but I think Pokémon keep their Dark(/Steel/Fairy) Typing. If not Mewtwo could use Psystrike to hit physically. We'll see.
  23. Using Dive we are able to enter the icy pyramid blockading the path to Ametrine City, where we find a PULSE Avalugg. Nothing else to do but to put it out of its misery. VS Pokémon Redoubt Not much to say here; Icy Field is annoying, should've maybe brought Earthquake. We move onwards to Ametrine City together with Shelly and eventually end up fighting Team Meteor as we chase Blake up to the top of the mountain. Close to the top Aster challenges us to one last battle. VS Meteor Ace Aster V I accidentally swept him, whoopsy. This battle actually took a fair number of tries, because Rhyperior and Milotic were major roadblocks. Rhyperior always took two Pokémon to bring down and Milotic two to three, severly weakening my team for Magmortar and Electivire. And then I remembered that I have Air Balloons. Rhyperior usually Earthquaked the Field away first chance it got, removing the nerf Milotic's Scald gets on it. Frome there on everything just kind of fell into place as you can see above. While we were busy with Aster Shelly was fighting Blake up at the mountain's top and lost, so now it's our turn. Cue Battle VS Agent Blake Easy-peasy, even without Eruption spam. Blake got taken out on the first try. Blake gets pummeled by dragons for a bit and Heather gets her Ring back. Shortly after we learn from Cal that Terra is a member of Team Meteor, so we'll have to go deal with her. Next stop: Agate Circus (again) That's it for today, Glitch World and Terra will follow next time, maybe the WTC and Fiore Mansion as well. Until then, see ya!
  24. Talk about beating somebody with their own weapons.
