  1. So I'm currently playing FE4 and this just happened in the arena:

    Sigurd: 94% hit
    2/5 attacks miss
    enemy: 50% hit
    all three attacks hit

    RNG at its best.

      Wolfox

that's clasic FE, no matter what game in the series you play. Unless the unit you send is Lon'qu, he doesn't miss, he crits

Lon'qu is pretty cool, yeah. Comes with being a Nabarl Archetype.

He still doesn't quite compare to Critger.

Yeah, this guy has to take the cake for crits

  2. There's a guy selling Super potions next to the schools Pokémon Center. He only shows up after defeating Fern. Luxray is, I think, for most of the game your only choice of physical Electric Type, so it's good you picked up a Shinx. Also, here's a hint: Charge doesn't only boost your next Electric Attack, it also raises the user's Special Defense. If your up against an enemy using Special Attacks you can set up Charge a bunch of times to reduce their damage. I've had a Luxray survive though the entire Gym Battle with Aya twice by using that.
  3. Arc himself says that one way to become an Ace is to beat the Reborn League. I also remember reading somewhere around here that rematches with Gym Leaders using their teams from the Online League would take place there, but I don't remember who said that or how old that post was, so don't quote me on that.
  4. Thanks!^^ Yeah, that caught me off guard as well. I was sure the reflection effect always happened. I guess RNG just really wanted Typhlosion to not succeed. Or it tried to punish me for using so many Fire Types against Serra. She's definitely one of the leaders with the least coverage against her weaknesses. Catching that pun took me four back-to-back playthroughs as well. I can be really dense with such things. xD
  5. Personally, I think being as pointlessly angry as Titania permanently is destroys any Badass traits a character might have. Being a proper Badass requires a fitting attitude and Titania fails in that regard. I also just don't like her. Also have to second the Terra hate. Her appearances are the only part of Reborn I always dread, just because she completely goes against the tone of the game at all other points. Even Fern and Blake, with all their trollish attitudes, manage to occasionally show that they can be proper assholes just like the more prominent villains.
  6. We head back out to Tanzan Mountain where we find Saphira and are handed the Ruby Ring and Amethyst Pendant for safekeeping. Moving on without the rest of the group we reach Route 1 where our adventure finally starts we are greeted by Fern. Cue Battle. VS Swag Jockey Fern V Face it Fern, you'll never amount to anything on this run. We make our way through Route 1 heading East until we reach Vanhanen Castle, where we battle Cain to decide who gets to challenge the Gym first. VS Pretty Boy Cain V Took me a second try for this one. For some reason I had significantly more trouble here than I expected here, but weirdly enough not with any of his new 'Mons in this battle. His Samurott wasn't nearly as tanky or hard hitting in any of the previous fights. Typhlosion had to carry the team. After the battle we find out that El has kidnapped Gossip Gardevoir, leading us to go on a wild chase after him. That means travelling all the way to the other end of Route 1. We chase El into the City's Wall, through the caves below and eventually face him at the top of the Citae whose name I can't be bothered to properly remember. Cue Battle VS Parson El || DITTOCEUS This took me a few tries, because Judgement on a Crystal Cavern is just too damn random. It would've been a lot easier if this thing didn't have Focus Blast. At first I tried to have Pyroar lower its offenses with Noble Roar, but it didn't quite work out. Then I tried out Nature Power and the above happened. Didn't expect that work that well. Anyhow, that's it for today. The Gym Battle against Radomus will follow next time. Until then, see ya!
  7. There's a number of various fangames floating around here, but all of them seem to be styled after the mainline games. I.e. traveling a region as a Trainer, challenging a League, fighting the resident Team. Do any of you know fangames styled after Spin Offs? Mystery Dungeon in particular. I googled around a bit, but all I've found seemed to be old and abandoned for years.
  8. My friend's currently going crazy over Monster Hunter World and two Metroids, meanwhile all the stuff I wanted to see didn't get shown.

I wanna be hype too, man.

  9. With a new Badge in possession it's time to leave Spinel Town and continue pursuing our friend, the randomly teleporting PokéMart; once we got the needed Medicine from there we return to Belrose Manse. After making sure Anna is fine again we prepare for a Gym Battle against Noel, but instead end up defending the house from Dr. Geezer and Team Meteor. Sigmund has us kept occupied by two of his cronies while he walks past us, leaving us to deal with Sirius once we're done slapping around the mooks. VS Meteor Admin Sirius I Victory on the first try, although that stupid misclick messed up just about my whole battle plan. Luckily Eruption's ludicrous power managed to fill the resulting holes. After the battle we hear a scream from upstairs, but decide to keep our eyes on Sirius and the door to keep the ground floor clean of threats. Unfortunately this results in the twins getting kidnapped by Sigmund and we quickly find ourselves storming Team Meteor's Tanzan Mountain Base (aka Rock Type Hell...) alongside (sort of) Saphira. Omce we reach the PULSE control room we end up being randomly teleported into a chasm where we run into a very large and very angry Steelix. VS Pokémon Gargantuan I'm somewhat disappointed Eruption didn't outright nuke it. Oh well. Steelix retreats back into the abyss, only to immediately show back up with Saphira riding on its head. We use it to go back up to the base's entrance and, while Saphira busts out the twins, we go to confront ZEL and their PULSE Abra. VS Meteor Admin ZEL PULSE Abra I'm not going to count this as a ZEL battle. To be honest I think it's weird how this isn't another Pokémon [Trainer Class] Battle Right after this battle Lin shows up, but quickly leaves again to deal with Saphira and Steelix. We take that as our cue to hightail it out of there. We make our way back to Belrose Manse, but Saphira hasn't shown up after getting blasted along with Steelix. So rather than search for her, we instead fight Noel. Cue Battle VS Prodigy Noel Victory on the first try, the Field did more for me than for him here, even if I had to carefully work around some attacks. If I was a more pragmatic person I could've probably nuked half his team with Eruption. Maybe more, depening on whether or not it could OHKO Wigglytuff right away. This battle earned us a Badge, raising the Level Cap to 55, as well as the TM Hidden Power - That one's gonna be usefull for coverage. Typhlosion's is Electric, Magcargo's I'll have to look up. Everyone else's isn't really notable. That's it for today. Next time will see the start of the Route 1/Luna-Arc! Until then, see ya!
  10. Direct didn't show anything not within expectations, not sure if I'm happy about that or not. Ultrasun and Ultramoon sound like they would put a lot more emphasis on the Ultra Beasts this time which... is actually a good thing, I suppose? For all of the emphasis SM put on them they ended up being woefully underutilised, most of them being glorified Roaming Legendaries. The implications of Lunala and Solgaleo having lived in that universe for a long time also went completely unadressed. Same goes for Necrozma, but being #3 in a base set of games that's par for the course. Ultra Beasts just aren't a concept I'm particularly sold on, so I'm not sure how to feel about them potentially getting more focus. What I'm somewhat worried about is that all of the new content might end up being only cosmetic or relegated to end/postgame. Not sure where that idea comes from, but I could see that happening. For now are just sort of a big question mark to me in terms of what to expect from them. The only thing I'm hoping for is more Silvally. It's got all that story and concept behind itself, but just ended up being a Cool Unique Thing that a Rival uses. The only part of the Direct that even made me smile was Decidueye for Pokken. It's nice to see my favorite out of the current starters getting some attention after spending years in Greninja Hell.
  11. Now that we can finally use Strength it's time to save those kids. Who knows how long this whole side business took in-universe. We team up with Cain to pummel our way through Yureyu HQ until, near the top, we find Dr. Geezer and Heather. Cue Battle VS Dr Sigmund Connal Victory on the first try, although it was a close call. Lanturn is an asshole on that field. Electivire is just an asshole in general. Also, I hate Rotom. Can I just say I don't like Sigmund's team very much? Well, aside from Luxray, that one's cool. Team Meteor abandons the Yureyu HQ and our group quickly leaves as well. Soon after we're sent on an errand to Spinel Town to go get some Medicine for Anna Nostra, which ends with us chasing a teleporting PokéMart and fighting a Gym Battle. Before the leader herself however Bennett insists to battle us. He's going to regret that. I've got a feeling @Jess is going to enjoy it however. VS Lepidopterist Bennett Truly an incredibly difficult battle. Our spectator El declares Bugboy here to be E4-material. Yeeaaah, no. After this short diversion it's time to challegne the leader herself. She uses Ice Types, so this is going to be fun. Cue Battle. VS Beauty Queen Serra Victory on the first try, unsurprisingly. Although RNG seemed to hate Typhlosion for some reason. We earned another Badge, it raises the Level Cap to 55. We also get the supremely useless for this run Frost Breath TM. The PokéMart also decides to come down from its roost, so we next we have to find that one again. That's all for today. Next part will follow sometime this week, whenever I have the time for it. Until then, see ya!
  12. Initially he's in Blackview City's Battle House, or what it's called. The place where that little tournament is going on. He's one of the NPCs sitting at a table; once you've won the tournament talk to him and he'll move to his house where you can have him do his thing.
  13. After two playthroughs of dragging Buizel along as a Water HM-slave I decided screw it and have since then been using Waynolt's HM-Mod. Granted, it's a bit weird to have the game announce that "Onix used Cut" or "Claydol used Fly", but it's betten than fiddling around with HMs constantly. Especially if HMs would screw you out of one of your team members during an important battle.
  14. Is Larvesta/Volcarona available anyhwere aside from the Mystery Egg by now? Drillbur and Excadrill are also still missing their location in Ep16; that cave in Tanzan Cove.
  15. We go off searching the entire Azurine Island for Cain and end up finding Team Meteor instead. Specifically Aster and Eclipse. Cue Battle VS Metetor Grunts Aster & Eclipse III Victory on the first try; ended up not being as troublesome as I had feared. Magcargo once again put in great work here. I didn't even have to send out Typhlosion, which is good, because I don't want to have to delevel him. We find a hidden passage behind which Taka is holding Cain and a Camerupt behind bars. Cue Battle VS Meteor Admin Taka Another first try victory, although not quite as smoothly as some other battles. Stupid Gear Grind missing twice. I got lucky with Gligar getting burned. The Level Cap is looming ominously over Typhlosion. We backtrack to Apophyll and back up Pyrous Mountain, dealing with Meteors along the way. Up on the crater we confront Team Meteor's Leader Solaris, who declares that he won't need more than one Pokémon to deal with us. Cue Battle VS Meteor Leader Solaris I could have bred a Houndour with Counter and sacrifice my Focus Sash for this battle, but didn't feel like it. Don't think there would have been any other way to beat Garchomp. Back in Reborn City Cain demands one last battle before he opens the gate to the Wasteland for us. The level cap is looming. VS Pretty Boy Cain IV Pretty straightforward battle. I tried to avoid Typhlosion getting any exp and to funnel some extra exp into Growlithe. As we navigate through the Byxbysigbig Wasteland we eventually reach the Gym here. We also find an old not-friend is already here and, of course, just has to fight us. Cue Battle VS Swag Jockey Fern IV The thirst three were all free exp, unfortunately Roserade and Serperior are still a bit too powerful to be considered that. Overall an easy battle. With that out of the way we get to challegne Aya so we can raise the Level Cap again. Cue Battle VS Wasteland Punk Aya I was rather worried about Tentacruel, Nidoqueen and Dragalge here, the latter particularly because most of my team are Special attackers. That's why I evolved Arcanine and kept Outrage on him. In the end it all worked out pretty nicely. Camerupt, Arcanine and Magcargo all put in great work. Pansear was just there as a meathsield, but actually managed to do something usefull as well, so that's good too. I'm still curious how Fern managed to beat her, because I call bullshit on Scyther or Krokorok being much of a help here. This victory earned us - finally - the Venom Badge, so we can use Strength. We also get Sludge Wave, but nobody on the team can learn it. That's it for today. Next part will follow some time next week. Until then, see ya!
  16. So, we just posted about the exact same part of the game on the same day and even had lots of the trouble with the same Gallade... xD Although I lucked out by having rain end for the fight against Kiki, rather than profiting from the weather. That Wingull looks kind of like from an old picture; somewhat sepia-ish. Out of curiousity: How many High Jump Kicks did you switch Jelliking into in this chapter? Because abusing that sounds like a lot of fun.
  17. Before we get to go on a (fetch) quest to save the kids there's the matter at Peridot's Blackstream Factory to attend to. At its end we're awaited by Solaris and ZEL; as Amaria takes on the former, we're left to deal with the latter and their PULSE Muk. Cue Battle. VS Meteor Admin ZEL III Pretty easy going here; I somewhat tried to not abuse the AI's inability to consider field-added Types, but ZEL basically set themselves up for that. I'm not going to decline a free first try-victory. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ This victory earned us Amaria's boat! So now we can head to Apophyll, get the sticker there, and then immediately return to Reborn City for EV-training! We also have our team's Hidden Powers checked by the Sage: Typhlosion has Electric, which is going to be quite nice to deal with those pesky Water Types. Soon enough Kiki sends us out to climb Pyrous Mountain to find and battle a student of hers up there. On the way up there we capute a new team member: Our opponent is waiting at the top of the volcano, right next to the crater. Cue Battle VS Ex-Leader Cal Easy victory on the first try. Magcargo put in some pretty commendable work here, considering it was her first battle. I'm going to keep her around for now. So, that means we passed Kiki's test and can have Strength, right? Nope. We have to face her in a Gym Match first. Beofre that, however, Victoria once again tries to stop us. Cue Battle VS Apprentice Victoria IV. Another pretty easy victory on the first try. By the next time we'll run into her I'll also have plenty of coverage against her Fighting Types. Now that Victoria won't stand in our way anymore we can battle Kiki. Cue Battle VS Sensei Kiki This battle was fairly troublesome. I barely even got past Gallade because its high SpDef. totally shut down most of my Pokémon. Strength also teared though all of my Pokémon's HP harder than Rock Slide. And for all that trouble I didn't even get a Badge. :I That's all for today; quite a bunch of Boss Battles. Even more will follow tomorrow. Until then, see ya!
  18. Vs. Sigmund isn't much better. "Your Nidoking does know Earth Power yes? Why would you use Thrash against a half-dead enemy? For god's sake at least abuse the Field with Shadow Ball!" The only weaknesses NPC allies seem to be competent at abusing are double weaknesses; I could pretty reliably count on Florinia to take out Fern's Rhyperior and John's Whiscash while I dealt with the other guys.
  19. That Aster and Eclipse battle is evil, completely evil! Aya seems to have some aversion to having Venusaur attack things in this battle. "Oh, you have an entire team of Ground Types? Well, watch as I absolutely refuse to Power Whip this Milotic that's currently kicking our collective asses!" Still, seems like you managed fairly well, considering how much can go wrong there.
  20. There was a whole bunch of running around to do before I got to this part. I also started the Aqua/Magma sidequest that will eventually add Houndour into my team, but for now Archer's Lv. 45 Sharpedo isn't something I wan't to deal with. Houndoom's movepool only really gets good later on anyway. Now, however it's time for our next Badge. Cue Battle VS Entity Shade This battle went decently well, if you ignore that derp-moment at the end there. Technically it was the third try, but the first two were just testing if Typhlosion or Pyroar can outspeed Gengar. Of course they couldn't. Camerupt put in some really great work there against Rotom. I'll never understand why that thing tends to be such a pain for me. Another victory, another Badge. The level cap is raised to 45 and we get the TM Shadow Claw, which isn't that useful. That's all for now, more will follow tomorrow. Until then, see ya!
  21. I usually go with any healing I can get. Most of the time my Pokémon's HP quickly overtake what the available potions can heal, so I consider heal-spam to be balanced by better Potions not being available. xp
  22. Well, I could turn the Field around to my favour, so I'd say that I was in a better spot once rain stopped. Of course, you also had several Flying Types to use, so Type doesn't make that much difference. ;p But I like Typhlosion much more! Yeah, efficiency isn't always my top priority. xD This run started about 70% because I wanted to do something with Typhlosion. (The other 30% are Arcanine. I love that giant fluffmonster.) I pretty much just decide one some Pokémon to use because I like them and the rest gets figured out whenever it pops into my head.
  23. Upon attempting to report Corey's death to Ame we run into Fern at Grand Hall. He goes on his usual spiel and then challenges us to a battle, because apparentally he still hasn't learned that Fire beats Grass. VS Swag Jockey Fern III "Talk about cheap" Pfft, you don't get to talk. The contrast between those two fights is really funny (at least for me; you guys can't see all those failed tries back then). Fern once again got thrashed on the first try, will he ever learn? (He won't.) Next stop is Beryl Cemetary to meet up with Cain. Cue Battle. VS Pretty Boy Cain III Victory on the first try; Dewott isn't yet a threat and Nidoking gets handily countered by Camerupt. That's it for today. The Gym Battle against Shade will follow next time. Until then, see ya!
  24. Maybe consider teaching one or two of your Pokémon Grassy Field. Even just taking an opponent's Field away can be extremely useful and your entire team would. Teach Dragon Pulse and/or Hidden Power to Seprerior for some coverage. Contrary Leaf Storm is powerful, but there's no reason to restrict it to Grass Type moves. Seems like a fairly powerful selection you've got there, though you may want to get some more coverage in general. Nature Power is pretty great to circumvent many Grass Types shallow coverage.
