  4. Yup, my episodes run on the shorter side, so idt Vanilla will be meeting too many ppl in one episode anyway. It all depends on whether he manages to get on her nerves that early lol
  5. Right now Vanilla's feelings toward le people of Reborn are as follows (I think from the next chapter on, I'll do a recap on these things, I think it'll be interesting as I develop the character). - Ame: looks like an oddball, but isn't really. Neutral feeling, like the way you'd see a salesperson. - Julia: IS an oddball. Too cheerful and loud. Negative feeling, avoid as much as possible. - Victoria: Likes the fact she's visibly physically trained. Thinks she could get along with Victoria, if given the time to know her better. Positive feeling, but apathetic to the idea of developing a friendship. - Cain: IS another oddball. Not the first non-binary person she meets (Wolfie, as you'll come to know, was bisexual) but the first person that flirts with her. She quickly learns she doesn't like to be flirted with. Negative feeling. I'm glad you're liking it! (and of course, Vanilla IS yet another oddball, but she doesn't know... does she?)
  6. From Everland to Reborn ~ Episode 2 The Grand Hall, unlike the other parts of the city which at quick glance looked in rough shape, was kept surprisingly neat. It smelled a little too clean for my taste, however. Victoria led me to the deepest part of the Hall, where the white-haired lady stood, waving at us. "I'm glad you made it," she said to me. "Are you here to register as well, Victoria?" "Yes, Kiki said it would be best for my development to start from scratch. I hope you can help me with that request." "We usually reserve our starters for novice trainers, but I guess we can make an exception given Kiki's intent." "Thank you," Victoria replied, looking somewhat relieved. Who this Kiki was, I didn't know, but also didn't care to know. "You're all set now," Ame clapped her hands once, and gave me my trainer card, a map, a pair of running shoes and a manual for beginners. She then told me that I could go grab my starter now, and Victoria made way for me to go first. "About that," I said, remembering the last part of Candy's letter. "My cousin sent me a dozen of those lil' monsters. Would you mind if I just started out with one of those?" Ame looked troubled. Perhaps it was not customary of new trainers to make such a request. However, she smiled and asked me to show her my PC box. It was also my first time checking Candy's presents. I hovered over each of them, and noted how she had named them after my "friends". I say "friends" in quotation marks, because many of them were names of family friends, such as Cinderella, Anna and Elsa, etc, who really had nothing to do with me personally. Candy being Candy must've been unaware of how terribly I got along with them It didn't help that she had left Everland 4 years ago, so her understanding of my "friends" was outdated. One of the pokemon, in particular, was named after a disgusting guy, with whom we used to be friends when she was still in town. However, that's an irrelevant story. Fortunately, Candy also chose two names, Wolfie and Kame (Urashimataro's nickname), which were names of my real friends, so I was all good. "I see you have a Squirtle in there," Ame noted, pointing at the green turtle with rather dope markings. "That's an official starter of the Reborn League, so I don't see an issue with you using him as your starter." I shrugged and placed Kame in my party. I just wanted to get this over with. "Now it's your turn, Victoria. Let's go pick your starter." "Don't worry, Vanilla. Though I know which starter you chose, I already had a starter in mind." "Ok." Moments after the two girls were out of my sight, but even before I could log in on my PC again to withdraw more Pokemon, I felt a hand approaching my shoulder from behind. I grabbed the hand and twisted it, mostly because of reflex. "Ouch ouch," said the purple-haired... guy? girl? behind me. Since he did not look like a threat, I let his hand go. "What a way to greet," he said, caressing his almost-broken hand. "You're cute yet so ferocious... I like that." I wasn't sure how to respond to that, so I just remained silent with my default fuck-off look. "Have you seen Ame by any chance?" "She just went with a girl to get her starter," I replied. "Oh~ is that so. Well then, it'll be just you and me for a while," he commented, but as he saw me nearly walking to sit down, he added, "You're holding a pokeball, so maybe we can learn more about each other by battling~ What do you say?" I looked at Kame's pokeball, and back at him. "Gotta get used to the ways of Reborn, I guess." My first Pokemon battle went rather smoothly, even though I barely knew what I was doing at first. Right now Kame knows four moves: Aqua Jet, Fake Out, Muddy Water and Aura Sphere. Cain used a Nidoran, which he said is a poison type, and hence no move I used could be considered "super effective". At least this weirdo was proving to be useful in teaching me how to play this game. I told Kame to use Fake Out and Muddy Water, and eventually beat the opponent. "You're pretty and a pretty good trainer too~" he said, retrieving is pokemon. He showed me to a corner of the Grand Hall, where a pink-haired lady was standing. And here I thought that the colorful hairstyles were only a thing of Everland. "May I heal your pokemon?" asked the woman. "I ain't got too much money," I replied, and it was true. The purple person gave me a meager amount of cash for beating his pokemon's ass. "Silly, you don't need money to use the Pokemon Center. It's totally free~" said he. "Speaking of free, if you're free now, we could-" Right then, for once I was glad that Ame and Victoria appeared to save me from him. "Hello Cain, what brings you here today?" Ame asked. "I came over to resi- ... To restart my journey. Could you please register me for the League?" "That's... fine, I guess. Come with me." "Yes Master, right away~" Master? Was probably the question everyone asked in our minds. Once Cain, or whatever his name was, went away, Victoria approached me. "Did you battle with Cain?" Hearing my affirmative response, she bobbed her head. "That's too bad, I wanted to be your first opponent. That's fine, though. Let's do this?" "Anytime," I said, raising my pokeball. For better or worse, Victoria happened to choose a fire-type starter called Litten. Needless to say that I finished her with a Muddy Water in the blink of an eye. "I see your Squirtle has some lovely egg moves bred into it," she commented. "Did I hear right that your cousin is a breeder?" "Yeah, she said she has a shop in Obseada Ward or something." "Obsidia Ward," she corrected. "Then you must be talking of Candy. You've got quite the celebrity as your cousin." "Celebrity?" "Yes, every trainer in Reborn knows her, and her bred-mons have been used by the most elite of Reborn!" "Is that so," I shrugged. "Can you tell me how to get to Obsidia Ward?" "Unfortunately it's closed off right now... I hear there's a crisis with mutant plant life breaking the ward apart. As of now, I doubt either of us could be of help, especially now that I've sent back Kiki's Lucario to her." "Alright, then I'll go toughen up my Kame and then go." "I'd advise you to take more than your starter for training, since you have a dozen pokemon. Fortunately Peridot Ward is free of mutant plants as of now, so you should go challenge the first Gym leader, Julia." "Ugh," I muttered unintentionally. I already met Julia. I didn't like her. "I'm going to return to Apophyll for some more paperwork, but don't think I'll be lagging behind forever," Victoria winked playfully, and went out of the Grand Hall. I listened to the well-toned girl's advice, which happened to coincide with my personal hunch and checked my PC again. "Let's see," I trailed off, as I also checked my beginners' manual. "The first Gym Leader is an electric type user. So I should get a type that is strong against electric." I checked the back of the manual, which had a chart indicating which types were super-effective, neutral or not very effective against other types. According to that guide, electric was weak to ground type, and ground, grass, electric or dragon were my best bets for tanking the attacks. Unfortunately, I had no ground types in my box, but I did have three grass types. By random choice, I picked Cinderella, of species Pumpkaboo. I wanted one more monster on my team, and I did not hesitate to choose Wolfie, of species Rockruff. She was a rock type, but I guessed ground and rock would be basically the same. Once taken care of that boring jazz, I was ready to head out towards Peridot Ward. QUICK LINK TO NEXT EPISODE
  7. If you didn't notice yet, I'm doing a fairytale-themed run on Team showcase. To commemorate the event (I guess) I'll soon but not immediately be Wonder trading a few shinies and some good IV mons. They'll be named "FmE2R" with OT Candy. Enjoy! Edit: done
  8. Lol in the first chapter I got a feeling Wolfox was the type to get beaten up to protect a Pokémon. Now that I came back and read a few chapters more, Wolfox has actually a pretty strong character/muscles (dealing with Fern like that for instance). Hope you don't mind that my run also has similarities in that regard, for it was wholly unintentional!
  9. Bros. My run "From Everland to Reborn" has taken off! Hopefully to be updated and not forfeited, fingers crossed :P

  10. From Everland to Reborn ~ Episode 1 Today might be the last day I see my hometown. "Everland... It was fun while it lasted," I sighed, as I took one last look back before entering the train station. After a long queue, I was finally able to buy my ticket to the infamous city, Reborn, the site of a destructive earthquake. "Dear cousin," the letter from Candy had been titled. "A little bird has told me that you are in a tight spot right now. I advise you to come to Reborn City, where I live - I am sure you will like it a lot here, knowing you personally. Send my warmest regards to my parents and my dear aunt and uncle." Together in the envelope was a business card, indicating that Candy had opened a breeding shop in Obsidia Ward, wherever that is. The prospects of being reunited with Candy weren't enough to lift my spirits, however. "Between you and me," the man at the ticket booth said. "I hear Reborn City's kind of a dump." Well, my choices are between a dump or the prison, so. I boarded the train, and sat on an empty seat. The ride was quite pleasurable - I must admit Everland has one of the most beautiful sceneries, with Red riding hood Forest marking the end of the region's eastern edge. We passed across a river, and reached Hoenn, where Candy had been the champion for a year before being beaten by some lad. The railroad passed through several towns and cities, making stops at two, and then the scenery went gradually changing. The plain land's grass went decreasing, and the amount of sand flying around increased. "I guess we're moving out of Hoenn from its desert side," I concluded. The trail through the desert was longer than I expected, perhaps because the scenery was a monotonous repetition of one sand dune after another. After about half an hour, though, I heard a voice directed to me. "I don't want anything," I said without looking away from the window, thinking it was the lady with the snacks. "You are going to Reborn City right? I am sure you will want your starter pack," the voice said. I turned my face to see who I was talking to. The young woman with unfitting white hair smiled and sat across me. "My name is Ame," she introduced herself. Then she went on to blabber about the Reborn League and such, which I had no interest in hearing about. When she was finished, I asked her for my starter pack. "I am sorry, you'll have to wait. When we get off the train, follow me to the Grand Hall, so you can choose your starter and get registered." Great. What a waste of my time. I was about to ask her to move the f*ck off, when she looked at something behind me with wide eyes. I looked behind me, but saw nothing. "Something is off," she said, and stood up. She turned and glanced at the other window. "Oh no." Her words were the last thing I heard in the train. "y! Wake up" "Hey! Are you alright?" No, I was not. My head hurt like shit. "Oh I'm glad you're awake," Ame said as I opened my eyes. Wherever I was, I had no idea of, but I could only tell that the place was absolute chaos. Some bloodstains here and there, the police stopping people rushing to see what was going on, and others, like me, sitting on the ground with wounds. The station, on my left, was full of wholes and smoke. "Who could've done this..." Just when Ame said this, a green-haired girl wearing cheerleading costume came running toward us. "... Julia." "Hello, I've come to see all the fireworks and kaboom!" "Julia, what have you done," Ame asked with a sudden stern face. "What? I didn't do anything. I only came because I heard explosions from my Gym, and you know I have to be there when things go Kaboom-boom!" Ame sighed, but whether from exhaustion or relief, I could not tell. "Alright. I will have to return to the Grand Hall quickly to check the status of this crime," she told me. "Sorry I have to leave you alone. Meet a black-haired girl in front of the Grand Hall, and I'll be sure to come talk with you two as soon as I can." With that said, Ame went running back in a straight line, and disappeared behind the crowd. "Soo," Julia spoke to me. "Pop quiz! Are you challenging the Reborn League?" "I guess," I replied, slowly pushing myself off the floor with much effort. My mind was still foggy and my footing wasn't steady. "Take it easy, girl," Julia tried to lend me a hand, but I smacked her hand. Not because I was angry, but it was just a instinctive reaction. "I'm okay." Julia took back her hand, but did not seem offended. "I like your dress," she pointed at my skirt's hem. "I don't," I replied. "But my parents forced me to wear it. It's Everland's traditional bubblegum dress." "Oh so you come from Everland? That's a beautiful place! But I'd say it's rather boring because Pokemon don't live there, and that means nothing goes boom or kaboom around there, right?" Julia shook her pom-poms around. "I won't delay you anymore though. Go get registered for our league!" I did not disagree, and went walking as fast as possible out of the perimeter. The Grand Hall was unmissable. The girl with black hair was unmissable too. However, there was something even more unmissable - the cry of an animal coming from behind the Grand Hall. "Ah, you must be Vanilla," the black haired girl called me when she saw me, but I ignored her. I walked to the direction I heard the cry, which required me to go up the stairs around the Hall. However, the guy standing in front of it blocked me off. "What's your problem," I asked him when he told me to back off. "This is my territory, and that means Not You." "Is that so?" I backed away a little, before quickly kicking him. I aimed for his balls, but unfortunately at the last minute I lost my balance and the kick landed on his stomach. "Hey!" The black-haired girl who saw me do that came down the stairs, presumably to stop me. "Be glad that the kick missed your balls, jackass," I shouted at the blondie. "Who's territory is this now?" The guy, with his arms folded around his stomach, could not reply. I grabbed him by the collar, and told him, "Go tell your mates that I've arrived in Reborn City. If anyone tries to pull off this game again, they'll not go unharmed. Got it?" The blondie frantically nodded his head. Right then, the black-haired girl arrived and pulled me away from him. "What's with you, Vanilla? Haven't you learned that you should not go hitting random people?" "My rule is to hit pricks. Are you one of them?" I asked, because the girl had visibly toned muscles. Our fight would not be a clean one. "No," she sighed. "I'm Victoria. Ame told me to wait for you in front of the Grand Hall." "Yeah, she told me that," I spat to the ground. "But I've got some business to take care of first. I hear some cries upstairs." "Now that you mention it," Victoria said, but I started walking up the stairs before she could finish speaking. "Wait," she said and followed me. Up there, I saw three teenagers beating a small white squirrel. "Assholes," I said under my breath, and ran towards the guy with the red cap. "Wait," Victoria extended her arm and ran after me. "You, stop what you're doing right now!" "What do you want? You ain't even the cops, and you wanna take us on?" "Girl ain't got even a single pokemon, dude." "See if I need pokemon to send you all to Hell," I shouted, and punched the first guy in the face. "Stop it, Vanilla. You mustn't resort to violence," said Victoria, but I started hitting the second dude. "On what side are you, Victoria? Help me fight them, if you're not a coward," I shouted back. The fight did not last long. Not thanks to me, however. Victoria sent out a blue bipedal dog, who took out all the three goons' pokemon in a single blow. "You had better remember this," mumbled the one I'd broke the jaw of. The other two followed and ran away at incredible speed. "Your looks really don't tell the whole story," Victoria noted as she called back her dog into a ball. "What story?" I glared at her. She shook her head. "Shall we go to the Grand Hall now?" I shrugged, and looked back to check on the furry animal that was still on the floor and shivering. I poked at it, and it jumped backwards, startled. "It's okay, little thing. The goons gone now. Go do your squirrel stuff in peace." With that, I followed Victoria down the stairs. QUICK LINK TO NEXT EPISODE
  11. The post has been updated - might as well save myself the hassle of making a new thread
  12. Death was sure, but I'm glad I could take out the Pope before I went... long live the King!
  13. I beg to disagree- with the converts out of the way (and keep in mind that two were already killed) we would narrow down the suspects of who the mad sorcerer is. Also I totes concur with Venus. Additionally, I'm against role revealing because it would take out the fun of finding the bad guys, just imo.
  14. Bruh. Let's vote the Pope now since we know his role and no one else's role wants him alive except converts (no offence, Bean). [Eliminate] sosobean
  15. The mad sorcerer is still around but at least we got the heir of demon king- good play until now Dive
  16. Welcome~ hope your stay will be sweet as
  17. How are ppl so good at making up questions?? Guess I'll ask the standard question: What's your favorite dessert?
  18. Well I want to lynch someone we have enough evidence to doubt. So if Bazaro seems suspicious (which I kind of had a little feeling), I'll support you. [Unvote] sosobean [Eliminate] Bazaro
  19. In muh eyes these ppl siding with sosobean are converts fearing for their lives...
  20. I don't know but I don't like the prospects of getting converted because it's harder to win than my current goal. Since soso according to me is 2/3 chances a bad role, I'll vote for Bean. [Eliminate] sosobean
  21. Um I thought we have one last chance of saving the goddess and that convert if we can lynch the right person
  22. Idk why college classes don't focus more on the practical stuff. Like PCR, RT-PCR, qPCR are like shits everybody needs to know (obv as a science major) and yet we never do those in school lab for whatever reason. I swear I've seen someone who tried to load samples on a dry agarose gel smh. Then we get classes that teach us about all the transcription factors - fml never gonna use that unless I become a geneticist (which I might but still). Rant sponsored by: me, looking at how geneticists indicate the location of a gene by notation.

That's always the case. Sadly, all practical tasks you first learn are the easy things anyone with half a brain can perform. When you need specific instructions in order not to mess up, you might have to find out and practice yourself. At least that's what I got from my personal experience, when I wanted to learn suturing. We're lucky the internet is (still) there to help.

    2. Candy

*Sigh* I think it'd be most efficient if we started from the tasks that will be of most use knowing. In a job at least it's that way but somehow professors mess that up (or the people coordinating classes - have a technical class at least!). But yes, praise to the internet, without which I'd be half-lost in 80% of stuff I do xD
