  1. Chapter 2: In Full Bloom We next head to Obsidia Ward. At the entrance Florinia lets me pass to aid in solving the plant issue. Because of the damage, the only way to progress is through the slums. But Victoria first questions whether I'm ready... Through Obsidia Slums (+Vs. Apprentice Victoria, and Vs. Pretty Boy Cain as a bonus!) Ignoring the near loss to Victoria, not much resistance to be seen in this stretch. Hope I impressed Amy (I know I impressed Cain). After meeting Amaria we continued to the park. There stood before us the cause of the calamity... Vs. Meteor Admin ZEL My offensive pressure is quite high at the moment. With the scary tentacle monster gone I can actually enjoy the park (even though it's raining). Soleil makes several additions: And so the team is at full strength! Rini invited me to challenge her gym, so off we go! When I arrive, Fern is there to impede my path, of course. Guess I'll have to go around. Onyx Trainer School (+Vs. Fern) So yeah Fern still didn't stand a chance, even though Roselia put up an annoying amount of resistance (shocking, I know). After clearing out all the rabble, just the leader remains. Here's the team set to face Rini: I'm not at a disadvantage this time, so let's see what she's got! Vs. Head Instructor Florinia Rini never got a chance to really set up since I was dominant right from the start. Got sloppy against Cradily though. I gave up at least 2 unnecessary KOs but at least this way Rini thinks she had a chance...I like her so it's better this way probably XD After the battle I went back to the park (in the morning this time. I had to make it sunny (but that's totally in character so...), but once I did one more team member appeared: Rini asked me to head to Jasper Ward next. There's another plant situation there, and I was so effective at clearing this one that it only makes sense. Until Next Time~
  2. Thanks I'll consider it; Sawsbuck does have a specifically Summer Form so perhaps I could justify it
  3. Chikorita, full stop. Bulbasaur is better in pretty much every way
  4. Time for the journey to start! Yay! Chapter 1: A Break in the Clouds I present to you the protagonist of this story: Our plucky heroine (barely) survives the journey to Reborn City, but upon arriving she is paired with her first Pokémon partner: After easily defeating Cain and Victoria, I can explore the stormy city (I was greeted with not just rain, but thunder and lightning as well, doesn't bode well for the journey). In Peridot Ward two more partners are found: With these three by my side, I run into some jerk called Fern. I eventually get pulled into investigating Mosswater Factory by the gym leader Julia... Vs. Swag Jockey Fern + Mosswater Factory Infiltration and battle Vs. Meteor Grunts Aster and Eclipse After all my exploration and the "battle" with Fern I've apparently earned a reputation as a sunny girl who brings clear skies and rainbows wherever she goes...guess I'll have to learn to act that way. The team currently has several shortcomings, and Sakura struggles to finish fights at the moment. After all that I can challenge Julia for my first badge...viewer discretion is advised for this next video, the battles that follow are not pretty. Vs. Cheer Captain Julia *cries* Ummm...yeah I needed a minute after that... But after even more training I returned to face Julia again. This time I wasn't going to accept defeat. Vs. Cheer Captain Julia (again) After yet another f***up I managed to win...yet again I ended up taking on Julia 3 to 6. But little Sakura stepped up this time! She has a bright future ahead of her. I was concerned starting with Drought Vulpix might wreck the difficulty in this early stage but that wasn't really the case (well except Fern, but stomping him feels good enough to justify it) Leaving the gym Victoria tells me about some sort of incident in Obsidia Ward. Something about plants attacking? Guess I need to check it out. Stay tuned...hopefully this will entertain!
  5. Table of Contents: Hello world! If you don't know me you probably don't, I'm EndearingCharacterTrait (or ECT for short, or Dav if you want to get personal). My Steel monotype was the first run I shared with you all, and I've come back to do another one. This time I pondered what sort of theme would be interesting, and after some thought an idea was born. I was inspired by the upcoming solar eclipse, and the idea that lodged itself into my brain was a team centered around Sun-related Pokémon. I don't intend it to be just a Sunny day team, but rather a selection of team members that have a more specific connection to the Sun. Before I start, I want to give an idea of the planned team members, as well as (attempt) to explain the thought process I used. So, here are the teammates I'll be meeting on this journey (only sort of in order, don't think too hard on it) Volcarona is classified as the Sun Pokémon in the dex, and its B2W2 entry makes the connection apparent: Solrock, the Meteorite Pokémon, is a recently discovered Hoenn species rumored to have fallen to this planet from space. It looks like the sun, has Sol in its name, and its power comes from sunlight. Heliolisk is a Pokémon that generates electricity by absorbing sunlight. It evolves from Helioptile using a Sun Stone, half its name comes from Helios, and it even looks like the sun when it spreads its frills. Espeon is classified as the Sun Pokémon in the dex, same as Volcarona. Eevee can only reach this form in the daytime, and it was the first mon to learn the rare move Morning Sun, which as of Gen VII still only 6 can learn by levelling (and 2 of those are Legendary) Sunflora is also classified as the Sun Pokémon, and it evolves from Sunkern with a Sun Stone as opposed to a Leaf Stone. it's a sunflower, so its face looks like the sun. It is said to be active during the day but completely still at night. It can also have the rare ability Solar Power. Castform is an artificial Pokémon whose very cellular structure changes with the current weather. It has a Sunny Form that only appears when the sun is bright: Castform learns many weather moves naturally, and was the original owner of the move Weather Ball The Blossom Pokémon Cherrim, not unlike Castform, has the unique ability Flower Gift that changes it to its Sunshine Form when the sun is bright, as well as powers up its allies: It and its pre-evolution Cherubi are 2 Pokémon that can learn Morning Sun without breeding, plus just look at that face...it's adorable Beautifly is the last of the 4 (non-legendary) mons that naturally learns Morning Sun. According to its FRLG dex entries its appearance does not reflect its true personality: Its Pearl entry outright calls it savage: Ninetales possesses the ability Drought; its very presence can make the sun more powerful. Its FireRed dex entry states that its fur shines bright, and it can live far longer than any human, just like the sun that will likely outlast all of us: Bellossom is the form Gloom takes when a Sun Stone is used as opposed to a Leaf Stone. It loses its Poison type and nocturnal tendencies, and its personality seems to take a significant turn, a stark contrast to its cousin Vileplume. Its (Heart)Gold dex entry tells about how its dancing is related to the sun: Whimsicott evolves from Cottonee with the Sun Stone, not the Leaf Stone (I know I was surprised by this my first time playing BW) Lilligant is a parallel for Whimsicott, she evolves from Petilil with the Sun Stone I think there's a decent mix here actually; some powerful mons, some less so. Just 2 (1/2) fire types, but 5 grass types (mostly Sun Stone mons). On this run I intend to encounter my team in the order they become available, but I might have to generate a few (like if/when I don't get Larvesta from the mystery egg, and probably to replace my starter). You may also see me use the TMX mod since none of these can learn Rock Smash, Strength, Waterfall, or Dive, but that's all the cheating I intend to do. So that's my plan, we'll see how it goes. Questions, comments, and concerns are always welcome...I hope this proves interesting! Until next time!
  6. I'm almost ready to start this run, thanks all for your great ideas. I've come up with a concept, and I think it's pretty good. I'll be starting another thread to lay out my plans, so check it out if you're interested!
  7. Jace suspected myself, Hongaar, and Amber as potential mafia. I can say that I'm not the one, and my most recent investigation has shown me Amber is not the one either. That just leaves Greninja, Candy, Megagun, and Hongaar... Jace believed Candy and Megagun were innocent, and I'm more inclined to suspect Hongaar at the moment sooo... [Eliminate] HongaarseBeer If I'm somehow wrong sorry...but you also already said you don't have useful information anyway so for the ultimate goal it would not necessarily be a critical mistake
  8. I'll probably try to start this in the coming days, but I'll let the poll stay active at least until tomorrow. So far it seems I'll be putting together a special theme. I'm surprised screens are outpacing videos though (but maybe the third party candidate is a factor). I might want to try videos this time, but I don't think narration would happen...I'm way too shy for that
  9. Hi, internet friends! I recently finished up my steel monotype of Reborn, and it made me want to do another one. If anyone is interested I would like to post about it here as well...so this is a poll to gauge the interest, or whether I'm just assuming I actually have readers. Please let me know your thoughts...
  10. If you pulled Staryu or Tentacool from the mystery egg one of them might be what you want as well
  11. @DigitalAmber I suspect I'm insane too, but my results conflict with yours on one point Megagun: Mafia Alphagar: Innocent Snowy Amine: Mafia Jace Stormkirk: Mafia Alphagar: Innocent (again) But you seem to have more conclusive evidence though, so if one of us is confused it would more likely be me I guess...unless of course one of us is lying
  12. It's especially useful since many of the high level trainers seem to prefer sweep tactics imo
  13. Metagross gave the team offensive pressure right when I began to need it; it was (naturally) the strongest mon on the team. Of course Magneton/Magnezone always put in work, especially in the midgame, but electric coverage never stopped being useful I have to mention Aggron, who made the battle vs Charlotte no contest, and Escavalier, who was stellar vs Radomus, Terra, and Adrienn But really the most valuable mon was Bronzong. Its Trick Room gave me the edge in all the tough battles
  14. This journey is reaching its (current) conclusion! Chapter 18: The City's Hero The time has come to return to Reborn City, and the changes are evident the moment I pass through the gate. The rebuilt city has plenty to discover through exploring. I went to the Grand Hall and was greeted by Ame. She tasked me with tracking down Victoria (haven't seen her in a while), Arclight, and Adrienn for something, simultaneously giving me a reason to wander the city. Along the way I found my fellow prisoner from the Subseven Sanctum in a shelter. In exchange for tracking down his lost key, he gifts me his partner mon that earlier helped me escape: After a chain sidequest, I obtain a key to gain access to the locked room in Shade's gym, allowing for some more changes I track down the people Ame requested, then return to the Grand Hall. Ame briefs us (well, me) about the upcoming mission. She's been informed there is still a Meteor base within the city somewhere, and a location seems suspicious: the Devon Building. She contacted Devon President Stone to inquire about the Reborn branch of the company Ame gathered the four of us to help her investigate. I'm to go with Victoria to an underground Railnet entrance (Arclight is already in position) while she and Adrienn go through the front. Upon entering we are immediately confronted by the enemy, who happen to be orderlies from Sigmund's clinic. After beating them they let us pass, while ominously telling us were doomed to fail. I eventually end up checking the storefront while Arclight checks ahead, but Ame and Adrienn are nowhere to be found. We push ahead cautiously.... But ultimately walk directly into a trap and get separated. I find myself in a small room, only one path ahead of me... Lin caught us, and is now forcing an ordeal upon us Only one of us will continue from here, but Victoria does not intend to yield the chance to destroy Tem Meteor herself without a fight. She's now being fueled by a desire for revenge, and it's made her a lot stronger. I can't afford to yield either. Good is not soft. Vs. Apprentice Victoria V Metagross easily became my ace in this late stage, no surprise there...I have a lot more tools now in general to beat Victoria though so not a big challenge Victoria seems rather upset about losing here, as well as guilty for letting revenge get the better of her Then she gets zapped, since this game of Lin's is a punishment game. I have to leave her if I want to get us out of this mess, so I can't do anything for her now. I have to keep going... Pushing onward, I run into another dead end Arclight tells me he ended up in this same situation with Adrienn before this, but xe refused to fight, and was punished. Arclight is not going to give up either. After all, if only one of us can continue, it should be the strongest to give the mission a better chance of success. Only one way to find out who's strongest. Vs. DJ Arclight Yeah Metagross is definitely my ace now. I almost feel guilty... Afterwards Arclight cheers me on Then the floor drops out from under him...I have to keep going... Continuing on I eventually come across Ame and Lin. I watch as Ame's (Alola!) Ninetales fails to KO Hydreigon (I don't begin to understand how that happened...) before it falls. I guess the implication is that Lin managed to 6-0 the regional champion with just Hydreigon, which is frankly incredible, in the sense that I don't believe it. Ame then gets executed (!?), because nothing is ever enough for you is it, Lin? Lin leaves, presumably hoping the gruesome scene will scare me away. I've already become far to jaded for that to work though...I have to keep going... I reach a final room, where I see ZEL fiddling with a PULSE machine. This one is Magnezone, the very first one to be created, and the one which caused ZEL's condition. That PULSE is going down whether you like it or not... Vs. Meteor Admin ZEL V After the fight the room goes boom. The PUSLE machine and Magnezone are destroyed, and ZEL is distressed...or rather Zero is. It seems Eve and Lumi are not with him anymore...He's devastated by this development, and runs off to Agate. I have to keep going though... I eventually find my remaining companions. They survived this disaster, but Arclight has lost an eye... The mission was an almost complete failure, and in walking into that vicious trap we lost our leader Ame... Adrienn carries Arclight to get medical attention as we leave the building. It seems we were transported to another building entirely after being captured. I go to the Coral Ward gym, as Adrienn asked me to come see xem. Adrienn asks me to help find more volunteers for the rebuilding effort. I, of course, oblige, and find 15 people. Xe also speaks to me about the future of the Reborn League Before all that though, I'll be needing Adrienn's badge as well. Vs. Visionary Adrienn I had a rare offensive type advantage here, but I still had to work around Mawile. When it Mega Evolves it gains about 20% attack, then gets that effectively doubled with its ability...its Sucker Punch could easily one-shot Bronzong and Metagross, and drop pretty much any of my mons that were damaged before facing it, plus it has priority. Mawile was the only one that presented a serious threat (another Steel type, of course), but it's so threatening I still had to fine tune the sequence I sent my mons into battle since xyr team has strong coverage moves to strike our generally weaker SDef Adrienn gives me my 14th badge, and TM Dazzling Gleam (not totally useless, Klefki can learn it (of course) as well as Probopass) Adrienn gives me support for the coming trials They've rebuilt Grandview Train Station, and the train will soon be able to take people into Tourmaline Desert, so that looks to be my next destination. But as of Episode 16 this is the end of this run. Shoutout to my trusted partners who carried me all the way here! On this run I was definitely helped by the Steel type's superior defensive abilities. That made it possible to get by fairly well without a big investment in EVs beyond buying some vitamins a couple times. But I never really got over that weakness to fast Fire types (ignoring the fight with Charlotte for a moment) or Earthquake, which appears on literally every team after a certain point (praise be to the Air Balloon!) I kind of want to do another run, but I've not decided on the terms yet. Anyways thanks y'all for reading this! It's pretty liberating for me to be able to share something with everyone, and pretty entertaining too. Until next time -Dav
  15. You don't necessarily have access at the time, that's true. I couldn't use Counter in my Steel run since I couldn't yet catch Heracross to breed it on to Forretress. But generally speaking I think it should still be possible to devise a winning strategy no matter the type (unless you do like...dragon or something maybe?)
