  1. Poison moves are boosted in a fair few fields (Wasteland, Corrosive, Corrosive Mist, etc), as are Normal moves (I honestly can't think of a field that doesn't boost a single Normal move off the top of my head - e.g. Rainbow Field boosts Weather Ball, Sonic Boom, Ashen Beach boosts Strength although I guess it's not really Normal-type in that field, etc.). Sonic Boom can also be abused really, really badly in a Rainbow Field (140 set damage).
  2. Honestly, I can't agree more. The TMs you get are disappointing, some are outright useless douse or at best niche stacking shot, and generally aren't interesting. And as for the balance issue with giving out the Leaders' actual moves: what? What's stopping them from being balanced, exactly? The field effect system even helps with this - if a move isn't powerful enough at base for a Leader to effectively use it but you can't improve it without giving too powerful a move to the player, the field can boost it. Example: say Venam's Kiss was 40 BP/100 Acc (this is theoretical ofc). That's a tad weak IMO when she could easily be spamming Venoshock or even just Sludge, but it's also the only Special Poison-Type TM besides Sludge Bomb and Venoshock (way too strong for when you fight Venam) so it's a bit slanted in the player's favor if it's any stronger, so you could have the field give it a 100% Badly Poisoned effect. I feel this is just a case of wasted potential and disappointment.
  3. Actually, there's another bulky Grass type I've liked, although this one is less defensive and more based on setting up: Gogoat. 123/62/86 (HP I recall correctly; give or take a bit for the def/spdef) defensive stats and level-up access to Earthquake, Horn Leech, Bulk Up and either Aerial Ace or Leaf Blade and its ability to heal with Horn Leech while setting up make it, IMO, the best Bulk Up user in Reborn. (would recommend either Miracle Seed-esque items or the Leftovers; could also use the Rocky Helmet or, since you have a life draining move, the Life Orb) The best part is that it requires barely any effort to become ready. Level it up until it's even with your team, use Heart Scales if necessary, and do a bit of EVing. Done. IVs don't matter quite as much if you're setting up. Even if you don't end up liking/using it, there's not much to lose.
  4. As for breeding, don't worry about it. The only move I mentioned for Feraligatr that requires breeding is DD (from the Kingdra line; Dragonite line also works but, uh, they're kinda not available) - Ice Punch and Superpower are both from move tutors. Also, Adamant gives you a bit more power, but Jolly lets you outspeed +1 base 110 pokemon (e.g. Gengar) once you reach +2. ...yeah, just go Adamant if you can lol As for the fields, iirc it was mentioned that Dragon's Den was being used for 2 leaders. Doesn't make sense for Titania because there aren't many Steel/Dragon or Steel/Fire types and Fire moves get boosted, and Amaria doesn't appreciate the buffs to Dragon types which resist her main STAB. This leaves Saphira and Hardy. And for Amaria, I'm just speculating, but it's very likely considering the design of the mansion(?) she resides in, the fact that there's a battle arena inside said mansion(?), and the fact that you find the Water Surface field effect there, and the fact that I can't see any other fields really working for that battle.
  5. In terms of competitive, Venusaur (base form) is more of a sun sweeper - Growth, a choice of Solar Beam or Giga Drain, Hidden Power Fire or Earthquake, and a filler move, usually Synthesis or Sludge Bomb. Mega Venusaur is run defensively with Leech Seed, Giga Drain, and 2 filler moves, usually between Knock Off, Toxic, and Synthesis. (also, we have Toxic, so Poison Powder would be sorta pointless) As for a mon I can recommend to the OP: Feraligatr. As odd as it seems, this could be a godsend in the upcoming gyms. Dragon Dance and Dive should offer a sweep opportunity on Amaria (underwater field ignores Water's resistance to itself when using phys attacks iirc so you set up topside and then bring it under), Hardy is a rock leader and Surf can get rid of the Dragon's Den field for both Hardy and Saphira, Feraligatr also gets Ice Punch for Saphira if it's alive when the field is removed, and it resists Steel and gets Superpower via tutor so it should put some work in against Titania. Kingdra could also work but it'll put less work in against Saphira and Titania (and that's assuming we get Ice Beam), Floatzel as well but we don't have Bulk Up as a TM yet (do we?), meaning it can't set up. Feraligatr also hits the hardest between the 3 due to Sheer Force.
  6. Guitar Hero 3 (PC) - Honestly just so replayable. There's always more skill to be gained, always more songs to beat. And since you can download customs on the PC version, there's no need to worry about if the setlist is to your liking, if it's too easy or whatnot. alsoI'mgettingagoodguitarforChristmassothegame'sactuallysomewhatplayableyay EDIT: just get Clone Hero instead if you don't have an online license for GH3PC or just don't care about online, it's actually so much better in every way LOL Going to start replaying Insurgence soon - Not really happy with my current team and I'm in the gutter financially (in-game of course) and frankly I'd rather restart. Might pick Delta Venusaur this time. It'll also be my first full playthrough of version 1.2 so yay Going to continue my Hollow Knight playthrough soon - I have no bloody idea why I put this magnificent game down. I need to get back into it. It's literally Dark Souls meets Metroidvania meets an actual good difficulty curve meets it's amazing and if you regret playing it I swear - technical difficulties, please stand by Reborn E17 and US/UM are coming out soon, likely November for the former - Do I need to explain this? USUM makes Kommo-O (my favorite Psuedo-Legendary bar Garchomp) actually incredible and Reborn... is Reborn. It's... it's Reborn. It's guaranteed quality. Like, Hollow Knight quality. Might gather my broken, pixilated body and actually attempt to finish a True Ending run of Cave Story - Screw the Last Cave. Just... please. End my suffering. thisgameisamazingbutfuckit'shardlmao I bought Super Meat Boy a while ago, guess I should play further than halfway through World 2 - Good game. Also soul-crushingly difficult. And it's a platformer. You know how I said I'd finish Cave Story? It's because I'm not ready for this LOL also I'll get back into the Dark Souls series and Terraria at some point but I've logged 1000 and 1700 hours in them respectively and frankly I'm waaaaaay burnt out
  7. You can chain Acid Armor with Grimer/Alo-Grimer (once e17 comes out) -> Shellos -> Skrelp -> Goomy which makes Goodra a monster to try and take down. If you have the patience it might be worth considering putting over a coverage option and using Leftovers instead of Assault Vest.
  8. IIRC there's a dark green egg-like object on Route 3 which (correct me if I'm wrong) I believe might be Axew's egg. So yes, we're probably getting that post-Rock Climb. Also, a lot of those lines (Shroomish, Azurill, Larvesta, Axew) are already obtainable via Mystery Egg.
  9. ...well rip. At least it doesn't have to rely on its "amazing" offensive stats because fixed damage, but bleh.
  10. Gengar - Very fast, strong, has a good typing, and more than enough of a movepool to get by. Also, I personally don't see this appearing in a desert theme. Aegislash - Obligatory. Dragonite - I'm surprised ANYONE thinks this thing's coming. 1) where does it fit in and 2) it's still waaaaay too good for this point. Garchomp - Desert theme makes sense for it but it kinda runs all over every remaining gym bar Amaria's (it's faster than most Dragon-types so Saphira has what to deal with it, Noivern? The thing that gets absolutely bopped by any attack ever? lol). I don't see it happening. Gyarados - Dragon Dance, future Mega Evolution, great movepool, very nice defensive AND offensive ability... and it's the Magikarp Quest. We can't end the Magikarp Quest. Salamence - Same role as Gyarados except it's just better (despite the lack of a Mega Evolution). Nope. Tyranitar - Desert theme, rather slow, probably not helping against Titania or Amaria. Talonflame - If this doesn't get lumped in with Pidgey outside the Grand Hall after that Gale Wings nerf, I'll be legitimately surprised. no i wont Scizor - Bad against Amaria (not bulky enough), Titania (what does it even hit her 'mons with lol? Brick Break?), Saphira (fire coverage on everything) and it's a two-way road against Hardy (Steel Type vs. Rock Types with Fire coverage). Also I'm biased because I love Scyther so take this with a few kilograms of salt. Ferrothorn - I'm not sure why this was withheld before to be honest. Probably a theme thing. Skarmory - ^ Hydreigon - Probably the worst of the remaining Psuedo-Legendary Pokemon. Also, it is technically obtainable at this point by item trading, so it's probably not too long until we get it in singleplayer, eh?
  11. Grass - Gogoat Why does everyone ignore this guy? It's bulky as all hell, has what may be the single best level-up movepool in Reborn (Horn Leech, Leaf Blade, Earthquake, Aerial Ace, Milk Drink, Bulk Up, Bulldoze, etc.) and makes a great Bulk Up user. Water - Sharpedo Speed Boost + Good movepool (albeit weak earlier on) + Potential Mega Evolution in a later episode = rip Fire - Blaziken Obligatory. I don't think I need to go over this one. I doubt the mega evolution will be anywhere but the postgame so I won't bother talking about that either. Fighting - Mienshao "UMG IS NOT BLAZKEN REEEEE" okay but seriously. High Jump Kick one-shots nearly everything that doesn't resist it, U-Turn + Regenerator is an amazing combo which (I believe) is, in Reborn at least (see: Tornadus-Incarnate), unique to Mienshao. It also has Inner Focus (lol) and RECKLESS because YOU DIDN'T HAVE ENOUGH POWER BEFORE. It also gets Acrobatics for coverage if you feel like it's actually necessary for some reason (High Jump Kick often 2HKOs resists anyway so lol) Dark - Krookodile/Hydreigon Hydreigon is technically illegal right now, but as previously mentioned you can item trade for the remaining piece of Dark Matter to start the event. Hydreigon is one of three available psuedo-legendaries (the others being Goodra and Metagross, with likely candidates for E17 being Tyranitar and Kommo-o) and it is a monster. It has plenty of coverage options and its dual STABs are great by themselves, and its stat spread (92/105/90/125/90/98) allows it to fill almost any role you have a need for. In terms of a more legitimate Dark-type, Krookodile takes the cake for me. Moxie + great dual STABs and Outrage for coverage = hey bby, wut's ur team and when do I get to sweep it? It's also (IMO) the best all-around lead in Reborn, with decent bulk, amazing offensive presence, Intimidate, and Stealth Rock via Mosswater Tutor. Psychic - Alakazam Man, everyone overhypes Gardevoir. I just don't know why. Both of these 'mons are frail, both hit really hard, but Alakazam has far better Sp. Atk, Speed, and abilities (Magic Guard makes everything better) along with a higher-tier Mega in competitive play (although how that will transfer to reborn is hard to tell, Trace is worth mentioning with how well Gym Leaders make use of abilities, and Mega Alakazam just so happens to have that whereas Mega Gardevoir loses Trace). Alakazam has a decent array of coverage - Grass Knot, Hidden Power (Fire/Fighting are best), Psychic, Dazzling Gleam, and Charge Beam. It gets Recover and Calm Mind for setting up on slower special attackers, and can even stallbreak (in the rare situations where you need that) by bringing Toxic along. Flying - Togekiss FLINCHES. EVERYWHERE. If Togekiss' excellent bulk and defensive typing along with solid Speed and great Special Attack don't take down your opponent well enough, I'm sure the 60 FUCKING PERCENT FLINCH CHANCE WITH SERENE GRACE AIR SLASH (and somewhat noteworthy 40% chance with Extrasensory) will! ...Screw this 'mon, screw Ciel and Adrienn for having it (and two in a row at that - 13th and 14th leaders respectively!), and screw Serene Grace. Ground - Krookodile Already talked about this one. Faces competition from Excadrill and Nidoking for this spot. Poison - Nidoking SPEAKING OF WHICH. Nidoking is a monster in Reborn. It has some of the best coverage in Reborn, with notable options including Poison Jab, Bulldoze, Elemental Punches, Megahorn, Gunk Shot, Surf, Flamethrower, Sludge Wave, Earth Power, Stealth Rock, and Toxic Spikes. What?! It takes a while to get going and if you want it early you have to shell over some cash dolla to the Game Corner, but it's totally worth it. Nidoqueen is probably better if you're using it solely to set hazards due to its better bulk. Rock - Archeops Because who needs bulk or a usable ability when you one-shot everything in existence? Notable moves include Rock Slide, Rock Slide, Rock Slide, Knock Off and Rock Slide. Ice - Mamoswine (nearly) unresisted STABs and early access to Icicle Crash via breeding with Beartic makes this thing so, so dirty. Icicle Crash and Earthquake are pretty much all you need, but occasionally you can click Stealth Rock or Ice Shard. Makes a good HM user too since it has a free moveslot or seven. Bug - why isn't scyther obtainable Volcarona Volcarona is unfortunately only obtainable by Mystery Egg, but honestly, it's just... so good. Takes a loooooong time to get going though (it gets good around Radomus, convenient timing too because it's 3 easily swept gyms in a row from there). Quiver Dance + Heat Wave + Bug Buzz + Giga Drain + Hurricane + Fiery Dance. Fairy - Granbull Bulk. Power. Coverage rivaling Nidoking. Sorta slow but whatever, you didn't need that speed and you never will. It's also obtainable after the 2nd gym and comes pre-loaded with Close Combat or Heal Bell (HUH I WONDER WHICH I SHOULD SOFT RESET FOR DEFINITELY NOT THE 120 BP COVERAGE MOVE). Electric - Jolteon You don't need coverage. You have Discharge, Thunder, Hidden Power, Signal Beam. That's all you'll ever need. Incredibly fast, very solid 110 Special Attack. Dragon - Goodra/Hydreigon Hydreigon was already mentioned. Goodra is interesting. Its physical bulk is okay, its speed is decent, but oh boy 100/110 mixed offenses and the best special bulk in Reborn bar Snorlax, Chansey, and Blissey. 4 resistances, wide movepool on both sides, and it's one of Reborn's 2 legitimate psuedo-legendaries. Makes a great Assault Vest user if you were looking for something to put that on. Steel - Bisharp Step 1: click your STAB of choice. Step 2: watch your opponent's 'mon die. Step 3: laugh maniacally as they send in something with Intimidate and trigger your Defiant ability. Step 4: there is no step 4, you've already won. Ghost - Mismagius Great coverage, solid stats, Perish Song is always nice as a win condition against tough aces (e.g. Ciel's Mega Altaria). Not much more to say, really. I think it gets Nasty Plot via breeding? Normal - Cincinno Bullet Seed. Rock Blast. STAB Tail Slap. A choice between Technician or Skill Link to boost these already solid moves. High speed. It's cute. What more convincing do you need? Notes: everything on here is a fast offensive 'mon or otherwise has qualities that back up its lack of one or the other. This is because Reborn is not a defensive game. You play defensive, you probably get crushed. This is also why I think Metagross is a bit overhyped - it's just too slow, and has a notable weakness to 4 types (Fire, Ground, Dark, Ghost - you know, 4 of the game's best offensive types). Despite this, it's still an honorable mention for Steel and Psychic. Let that sink in. mega stone when
  12. @Chase I don't think the problem with Toxapex would be Merciless (Toxapex has very, very bad offenses, and Merciless only patches that up to some extent); rather, it would be Regenerator. Toxapex has outstanding mixed bulk (53/152/142 is like shoving Skarmory and Snorlax into one convenient package), a great support movepool (Haze, TSpikes, etc.), one of if not the best defensive ability in the game (especially for a faster-paced game like Reborn where switches are easier to force), and a very, very good defensive typing sporting immunity to Toxic/Poisoned status, only 3 weaknesses, and resistances to Bug, Water, Fighting, Fire, Steel, and Fairy. That being said, I can't see it as being too good and it could very well be found by, for example, Super Rod fishing where you would find Corsola via event (Pokemon Sun pokedex entry anyone?). Or there could be some other method of obtaining it, idk. @Paperblade Gengar gets Dazzling Gleam. Ghost/Fairy is perfect coverage outside of Normal/Fire (Litleo and Pyroar), Normal/Steel (non-existent), and Normal/Poison (again, non-existent). This not only fixes its "bad" coverage but also leaves it room to run 2 support moves (e.g. Mean Look + Perish Song or Pain Split + Will-O-Wisp). I personally don't think it's broken, but it's a force to be reckoned with.
  13. Adrienn in 4 turns, 2 'mons, no damage. Turn 1: Lead with Bisharp and Braviary (+speed and +attack respectively, both fully ev'd in attack and speed, both have Defiant, Braviary has no item and Bisharp has an Iron Plate). Braviary uses Tailwind, Gardevoir misses Focus Blast, Bisharp uses Iron Head on Gardevoir, Granbull misses Play Rough. Turn 2: Outspeed and OHKO Togekiss and Granbull with Slash and Iron Head. Turn 3: Receive another net +1 attack from Mawile's Intimidate. Double-target Mawile-M (2HKO), Whimsicott uses Tailwind. Turn 4: Outspeed and OHKO Whimsicott and Florges. Battle won with no damage taken. 3 instances of RNG in this battle: double miss from Adrienn's leads (can be cut to 1 miss by KO'ing Granbull first) and Whimsicott not using a damage-dealing move.
  14. >legendary action >6 evo lines left unavailable Ame where are my Scyther and Shaymin
  15. Sandile is fairly rare and the Nidos take a while to get decent movesets, so I passed on them. I guess they could be honorable mentions?
  16. I'm just gonna dump some potentially useful 'mons (reasonably easy to get/train, and very, very effective) Blaziken/Samurott/Infernape/Typhlosion, Diggersby, Granbull, most Mystery Egg 'mons (preferably one that's immediately useful, such as Starly or Marill, but Pawniard, Larvesta, Axew, etc. could also be useful), Archeops, Cherrim, Manectric, most Eeveelutions, Alakazam, Gardevoir
  17. So literally every one of my Ciel battles? Step 1: send in Crobat. Step 2: set up 6 Double Teams and a Substitute. Step 3: spam Acrobatics. Step 4: soft reset because Gliscor hit you 5 times in a row as you feebly attempted to Substitute stall its attacks. Step 5: actually succeed this time.
  18. And of course, any Normal type that learns Sonicboom.
  19. I'm going to count Ghetsis here even if he's technically not the champ because let's be honest, it's pretty much a champion battle.
  20. Mono-dragon. Because you weren't sick enough of all the damn Noibat already, so you need to use six of them for a large portion of of the game (unless you get the Axew mystery egg I guess).
  21. They're obtainable, but most are semi-rare and/or lower level. Having access to higher level, more common versions of these 'mons now that they're starting to lose their dominance would be nice for collectors, and good thematically.
  22. It's not the fields Dragonite can abuse, it's the pokemon in general. Dragon Dance + Multiscale + Amazing movepool + Great bulk + Fly isn't bad in main story gameplay = literal monster. No way Dratini's coming any sooner than the E4 imo. @FairFamily Depends if it's running Sturdy. Analytic is really, really good so it's basically a 1/2 shot. There's also Magnet Pull but that probably won't be its ability. Also, why mention the Air Balloon? I doubt we're getting Earthquake and I can't see people going for Bulldoze when STAB Waterfall has the same BP as 2x Bulldoze. theres also the chance she doesn't use magnezone but tbh who wouldn't use magnezone lol
  23. Am I the only person who can't see Magikarp/Gyarados coming in this episode? Plenty of ways for Corin to slip away in a desert setting and besides, Gyarados is still really friggin' good at this point. Hell, would probably 6-0 Titania if she doesn't lead with something packing Thunderbolt/Wild Charge (Steelix is a possibility but non-STAB Thunder Fang off of 85 base attack and a negative modifier to it is still going to do jack lol) That being said, Skarmory seems reasonably likely. Would be a godsend for hazard stacking teams aaaaand that's about it. Its actual attacking movepool is limited, it has poor special bulk (65/140/70), its speed/attack are pretty bad, and Reborn is very fast-paced. We also don't have Swords Dance yet so it can't pull off SD+Weak Armor sweeps. Outside of the guaranteed hazards it would be mostly dead weight against Amaria (strong field-boosted Water moves = rip) and Saphira (Dragon's Den = +fire damage = most if not all 'mons will have a fire move = rip).
  24. 0 SpA Life Orb Sheer Force Nidoking Ice Beam vs. 0 HP / SpD Arceus: 82-97 0 Atk Life Orb Sheer Force Nidoking Ice Punch vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Arceus: 81-95 Yeah, I was surprised too, in all honesty, since most of the time people talk about it as a special attacker. Having base 102 attack compared to 85 special attack makes a huge difference, though.
