I second this. This banner looks kinda stupid. Please consider changing it to something better looking.

[Rank 1] The Immortal Hero (Offensive Team Feat. Mega Blaziken)
Lord Emvee replied to Lord Emvee's topic in Pokémon Fan Club
@SJMistery: For this team, it's not about taking hits as much as it is about doing damage. Blaziken and Garchomp would be the best answers to Dragonite, as one has HP Ice while the other has Outrage/Dragon Claw. At the same time, Aegislash and Genesect can take Outrage to an extent and hit hard with its moves. Don't forget this is an offensive team not a defensive one :]- 10 replies

[it's a Bird...] Hawlucha (F) @ Power Herb Trait: Unburden EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spd Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk) - Swords Dance - High Jump Kick - Sky Attack - Acrobatics This Hawlucha set doesn't require any waiting to unshackle its Unburden. Power Herb gives Sky Attack a free hit without charging, for some massive power. Pair this with Sword Dance and you can turn this creature into a real threat. Acrobatics is there because Sky Attack is only a 1-Shot kind of move. After the Power Herb is used, Acrobatics becomes a lot stronger, and you don't really need Sky Attack anymore. High Jump Kick is it's most powerful fighting move.

[Darkness has Risen] Yveltal @ Dread Plate Trait: Dark Aura EVs: 8 Atk / 248 SAtk / 252 Spd Naive Nature (+Spd, -SDef) - Taunt - Sucker Punch - Dark Pulse - Oblivion Wing This set takes Yveltal and uses it's offensive power on both its Physical and Special aspect, while at the same time allowing you to beat Stall teams with Taunt. Sucker Punch and Dark Pulse, one being a Physical move and the other being a Special move, both benefit greatly from the Dread Plate. Sucker Punch is very useful to finish off any already weakened Pokemon that Yveltal cannot necessarily outspeed. Oblivion Wing is it's main form of recovery, as the move allows it to heal quite a lot (more than any other damage+recovery move), especially since near max Special Attack will do a good amount of damage.
-
[Inception] Zoroark (M) @ Focus Sash Trait: Illusion EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd Hasty Nature (+Spd, -Def) - Counter - Memento - Taunt - Sucker Punch The following Zoroark works as an Anti-Lead. Basically, it shuts down Pokemon such as Deoxys-D, Smeargle, (most hazarders and statusmons). It also beats U-Turn leads such as Genesect, and OHKO's the following Pokemon brought in with Counter (while living with Focus Sash). Memento is there for when you have 1 HP left and nothing else useful to use (which gives you an opportunity to set up with another Pokemon, whether it be Sword Dance, or Dragon Dance, etc is up to you). Sucker Punch helps to finish off already weakened Pokemon, or do some sort of damage. It's a very interesting set that works if you play it right.
-
[RIP, Titanic] Avalugg (F) @ Assault Vest Trait: Sturdy EVs: 100 HP / 252 Atk / 156 SDef Brave Nature (+Atk, -Spd) - Avalanche - Gyro Ball - Earthquake - Stone Edge / Rapid Spin Though Avalugg is known for its amazing Defense stat, take into consideration it's Attack stat. Avalugg has an amazing attack that hits 366 with Adamant. The only thing wrong with it really is its Special Defense. This is easily fixed by using an Assault Vest (which is what the set is all about). With 4 Attacks, Avalugg has pretty amazing coverage. Avalanche hits extremely hard with Avalanche, as well as Gyro Ball due to its Brave Nature. Earthquake hits Steel types that wall Avalugg, such as Heatran, Aegislash, Mega Mawile, etc, while Stone Edge allows you to beat certain types of Pokemon such as Volcarona, Rotom-H, etc. If you're in need of a way to get rid of Hazards though and you're not really finding Stone Edge of much use, it can be replaced for Rapid Spin.
-
[Chesnaught2day] Chesnaught (M) @ Leftovers Trait: Bulletproof EVs: 252 HP / 180 Atk / 76 SDef Careful Nature (+SDef, -SAtk) - Spiky Shield - Leech Seed - Power-Up Punch - Wood Hammer Chesnaught is usually seen as the kind of Pokemon that walls physical attackers. However, that's not its full potential. This set takes Chesnaught to a whole new level. Firstly, the ability Bulletproof blocks moves like Shadow Ball, Sludge Bomb, etc. Chesnaught can take attacks from Pokemon such as Aegislash, Mega Venusaur, etc. However, when you're up against Mega Venusaur, how on earth are you supposed to beat that with Chesnaught? This set can do just that. It works on Stall Teams, while also being a Pokemon that can effectively counter them. It also can work on Bulky Offensive teams. Spiky Shield and Leech Seed are for HP regain and stalling purposes of course. Power-Up Punch raises its attack so you'll never be left with the bare minimum like you would if you had something like Hammer Arm instead. Wood Hammer is very powerful, and you don't need to worry about HP Loss since Leftovers and Leech Seed will make up for that. This set takes Chesnaughts already good defense as it is, improves its Special Defense, while taking to account both its offensiveness as well as its defensiveness.
-
[serpent's Coil] Zygarde @ Leftovers Trait: Aura Break EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SDef Careful Nature (+SDef, -SAtk) - Coil - Dragon Tail - Earthquake - Extreme Speed While Zygarde has offensive sweeping capabilities with Dragon Dance, this set makes use of both Zygarde's Offenses and Defenses. With Coil, you're able to raise Zygarde's Attack, Defense, and Accuracy. This makes Extremespeed very useful, since it means you don't need any Speed EV's on this kind of Zygarde. Dragon Tail is great on this moveset because since Coil makes it difficult to KO, you can phaze teams with Hazard support. Earthquake is main STAB and becomes very powerful per Coil. Good teammates with this set would be anything that sets up multiple hazards, such as Deoxys-D, Smeargle, etc, Pokemon that would resist Ice and/or Dragon moves, such as Rotom-W, Heatran, Jirachi, Mega Mawile, Mega Gardevoir, etc, and Wish support Pokemon such as Blissey, Florges, etc.

[Rank 1] The Immortal Hero (Offensive Team Feat. Mega Blaziken)
Lord Emvee replied to Lord Emvee's topic in Pokémon Fan Club
@Tenshine: Thanks very much! :] Mixchicken has been one of my favorites on Reborn. @Nyrias: I edited the part about the other RMT's and about Kamina being the only competition since you're right it wouldn't be fair to everyone else, but I don't believe I have to take out that other part about Blaziken since being confident isn't against the rules and I'm not undermining anybody with that statement lol. I'm glad you like the RMT though thanks for dropping by! :]- 10 replies

[Rank 1] The Immortal Hero (Offensive Team Feat. Mega Blaziken)
Lord Emvee replied to Lord Emvee's topic in Pokémon Fan Club
@Jory: Thank you for advocating for Fly Thunderus!!! :] Long live!!! @Slant: Thanks buddy :] Kamina is right about Aegislash. For Blaziken, 192 speed outruns the meta-game after 1 protect. 252 SpAtk is necessary since this is Mixed Blaziken, and the rest to attack for HJK to be powerful! @Kamina: Thank you very much friend :] you were really the only other person I had to watch out for on the ladder lol.- 10 replies

The Immortal Hero ------------------------------------------------------- Intro Hello Reborn Community, I have recently returned yet again after taking a really long break from this place. I felt it was about time to get back my rank 1 as usual for two reasons: firstly because I haven't posted an XY Reborn team here yet, and because it just seemed way too easy, which in fact it was. I have decided to RMT the team that has gone undefeated on the ladder just for fun since it's about time I RMT'd something, plus I want to show you all what a hand looks like before it slaps the shit outta you in battle. I was very easily able to get #1, and put an end to Kamina's reign from when I was away. The team I will be showcasing is heavily offensive, and really just requires you to set up some hazards before using the rest of the team to kill stuff. Anyways let's begin. Proof Of Success Team Preview Roles of Teammates Team In Depth Deoxys-D @ Red Card | Pressure Timid | 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 Spe Stealth Rock | Spikes | Taunt | Magic Coat Deoxys-D is my choice to lead off with because it's better than Deoxys-S leads. I am able to get up Stealth Rocks and at least one layer of Spikes due to the fact that it's pretty bulky while having a decent speed to go with it. Taunt allows me to prevent opposing Pokemon from setting up on me while Magic Coat is there to reflect Hazard and Status moves as well as other faster Taunters. People think they can Spore me with their Smeargles, Taunt me with their Thunderus or their Deoxys-S, or even try to set up on me with a lead Dragonite sweeper but nope, they don't know about Deoxys-D. I have Red Card since it's fun just watching me set up Stealth Rocks, and then having someone attack me which forces them to switch out into something they don't want out. ------------------------------------------------------- Aegislash @ Spooky Plate | Stance Change Rash | 94 HP / 144 Atk / 252 SpA / 16 Spe King's Shield | Shadow Sneak | Shadow Ball | Flash Cannon Here's a new tool of the 6th gen meta-game. Aegislash is my favorite Pokemon for two reasons: the first of which is because it can switch into things easy since it has a shield form, the second is because it can hit quite hard with its sword form. Aegislash provides a lot of good synergy with the team as it resists Fighting and Ice moves that can trouble some of the other teammates. Shadow Ball hits Landorus-T really hard as well as most other Pokemon it does neutral damage to. Flash Cannon is great because it hits with powerful STAB that can do a lot of damage to fairy types, while preventing it from being walled by Chesnaught. Shadow Sneak of course is for priority, and the attack EV's and Ghost Plate help a lot. Sword Dance sets are most commonly seen at Reborn, so nobody will expect this set coming! ------------------------------------------------------- Thundurus @ Expert Belt | Defiant Jolly | 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe Wild Charge | Fly | Knock Off | Superpower Bet you guys haven't seen a physical Thunderus before. When someone tries to use Defog to clear my hazards, I switch this thing in. Defiant doubles its attack when any of its stats are lowered. Wild Charge is powerful, especially when you get that attack boost. I have Fly there to troll people with, and it helps against Mega Venusaur threats. Knock Off is to hit Aegislash and other Pokemon to get rid of their items. You don't have to worry about King Shield because the defiant boost will power you up, and you'll be able to hit Pokemon really hard! Superpower is a powerful move that hits stuff like Heatran, Tyranitar, Excadrill, Blissey, etc. The Expert Belt does help to power up those Super Effective moves, and since Thunderus has pretty good coverage it will be handy. ------------------------------------------------------- Genesect @ Life Orb | Download Hasty | 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe Bug Buzz | Iron Head | Flamethrower | Extremespeed Yeah it's a Genesect but nobody is ready for this set. Bug Buzz is extremely powerful with Life Orb it OHKO's stuff like Rotom-W after Stealth Rocks. It pretty much 1-2 hit KO's anything it does neutral damage to, bar Special Walls like Blissey. Mixed Genesect with Life Orb is amazing, since if you get an attack boost you can Iron Head spam stuff (useful for Fairy Types). Flamethrower is there for things like Aegislash and Ferrothorn. Extremespeed gives priority which is amazing if you get the Attack boost from Download. If you're gonna bring in a Talonflame, I'll just Extremespeed you and take you out with a crit or something since it goes before all other priority moves. But yeah this Genesect is really cool overall especially since I'm not using one of those generic sets that everyone uses like that boring Choice Scarf set. ------------------------------------------------------- Blaziken @ Blazikenite | Speed Boost Naive | 64 Atk / 252 SpA / 192 Spe High Jump Kick | Fire Blast | Hidden Power [ice] | Protect Blaziken is the immortal hero and featured Pokemon of the team. It is also my late game Mixed Sweeper. Basically once I get up hazards and expend through all of my other Pokemon, I bring out this guy to finish off the rest. If I send this thing out really early, it means I don't give two shits and I'm just gonna spam moves until you die, which you probably are. It's a very interesting Blaziken set. High Jump Kick of course is necessary. I've chosen to make this more Specially oriented with Fire Blast and Hidden Power Ice. HP Ice hits stuff like Dnite, Salamence, Gliscor, Landorus, Garchomp, etc, which is very useful and unexpected. Protect buys me an extra turn to increase my Speed by 1 Stage. My Blaziken set is pretty unique, and it's certainly a lot cooler and better than the sets those people use with Baton Pass. ------------------------------------------------------- Garchomp @ Choice Scarf | Rough Skin Jolly | 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe Outrage | Dragon Claw | Earthquake | Stone Edge Garchomp is a very useful Pokemon overall, and is my Revenge Killer. I don't really even need to use him unless of course the opponent has a Blaziken (which can be OHKO'd with Earthquake even at +1 Speed), and Mega Charizard's. Also anything that sets up to +1 with Dragon Dance can be revenge killed pretty easily. Outrage and Dragon Claw are both there depending on how much power you need at a given situation, or whether or not you want to be locked into a move. Earthquake is essential of course as no Garchomp can go without it, and Stone Edge helps me beat Mega Charizard Y, Talonflame, etc. ------------------------------------------------------- Conclusion So once again, this concludes my first Reborn XY RMT. As a reminder, this team has currently achieved #1 on the Reborn ladder, and I'm glad to be able to show it off to everyone (and I'll update any higher peaks in the ladder score). If anyone is interested to use this team, the importable is down below in the spoiler box. Using this team is quite easy. Lead with either Deo-D, get up as many hazards as you can, anti-spin as hard as you can with Aegislash, anti-defog with Thunderus (and preserve Deo-D if you sense a Defogger), and then just send out Pokemon after Pokemon to kill your opponent's team. You don't have to switch much to be honest since each attacker can do well against most of the Pokemon out there. Thanks again for taking the time to visit my latest RMT! Weak team. Stop using stupid stuff like focus sash, brightpowder, etc. To put it nicely since we're on a forum, it makes you look very inexperienced and would give people the impression that you don't know how to play this game. Your EV's are weird, like did you close your eyes and pick random numbers or something? You're missing 4 EV's on your Espeon and your Electivire. Toxicroaks EV's are garbage. I don't know what you did with Milotic. Volcarona's EV's are weird, but Haxorus's EV's are the only ones that make sense. You have 0 Ground resistances and 2 Pokemon weak to Ground moves which shows that it's very poorly built. You don't have a very good idea of what type synergy is, but I'll help you fix this issue. Here is my recommendation. When you get on Reborn's Pokemon Online server, go to "File", then "Open Teambuilder". Click "File" again when the team builder is open, then click "New". Good luck. Kidding haha but in all seriousness this team needs a LOT of work. Get your EV's fixed I'm sure you can find some legitimate EV's online. Get yourself a ground resistance you can switch Electivire for Zapdos or something. Keep a track of threats and weaknesses etc etc. Lemme know if you need help.
-
Weak team. - It's not even a stall team. If you disagree, explain Shell Smash Cloyster, Assault Vest Metagross, and Adamant Mega Aggron. - Team gets wrecked by Fire/Fighting. - Way too many threats, such as Infernape, SD Terrakion, CB Darmanitan, Thunderus, Blaziken, (the list just goes on and on and on). I think you have the wrong idea of what Stall really means. What you've built is what's called a Semi-Stall team. This is actually a mix of offensive attackers and defensive walls. There is no way Cloyster with Shell Smash goes on a "Stall Team", and neither does your offensive Metagross and Aggron. They're classified as "Bulky Offense", and while certain sets of theirs do in fact work in stall, your current ones do not. My suggestion would firstly obtain knowledge on a variety of Pokemon that can work for a Stall Team. Then what you should do is examine your weaknesses, and appropriately cover them. This can be done by Pokemon type variation. Using 3 steel types on a stall team and 0 fire resistances for a team that is supposed to be stall are an example of poor teambuilding. Here is an old BW OU Stall Guide. It wont help you in terms of XY Pokemon, but it will give you a general idea of the concept of Stall teams: http://www.smogon.com/forums/threads/bw-ou-stall-guide.3462376/

I haven't laughed so hard while reading through an RMT before. - Kangaskhan is not cute. The baby is though. Use that instead you can get an Egg of it if you breed a Male Kangaskhan with a Female one. You're right though about speed making Kangaskhan faster though, and safety is important. 3/10 - Latias is pretty cute I'll have to agree. It's important to keep secrets to yourself though. If you tell everyone your secret then it's not really going to be a secret right? True fairys can beat her but then again keeping it a secret can save your life. 8/10 - Glalie doesn't even work. Let's assume you were a Pokemon (a Skitty for instance). Now, I'm sure we can all agree that Skitty is generally accepted as a cute Pokemon. Would you mate with a Glalie? Like say you were dropped off at the Day Care Center next to Mauville City by some scumbag trainer, and you were there with a Glalie. When your trainer talks to the old man in front of the house and asks him if you and Glalie are getting along, what do you think he'll say? Get that swine off your team replace it with a Swinub. 0/10 - Ok Sylveon is cute I'll give you that. It has the ability Cute Charm to make even those that don't think it's cute to think it's cute. You'd make a good human Sylveon in my opinion like you resist Dragons and you have that defensive and healing mode and you look poisonous and you can damage too; annoying when they don't have recovery right? 10/10 - Delphox is not good why would you even use that? I will use that wrecking ball of yours to get rid of it. Sure you may be a Magician with Magic Coat, but there is no way it's hard to break as you said it is because I'll just use a wrecking ball. Not that cute either 2/10. - Dugtrio is kinda cute I can accept that. Dugtrio's trainer was abusive though. I really hope you don't abuse your Pokemon. Please always care for your Pokemon and show the same compassion as Ash Ketchum. You look like the female version of Ash Ketchum. That's a good thing too don't worry. 7/10 Overall the team is 4/10 in cuteness, 2/10 in strength, and 0/10 in overall effectiveness. I want you to study math and do well in school, and be a loyal friend.
-
Mega Aerodactyl is interesting but unfortunately it does not possess enough bulk to switch in on Mega Pinsir, though it would make the team better! That still doesn't get rid of the hazard problem though.
-
Replacing Kingdra for 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SAtk Rotom-W gets rid of your Talonflame weakness, your Mega Pinsir weakness, and provides Ground resistance. Replacing Dusclops for Defog Latias protects you against hazards while being an effective Pokemon to deal with Mega Charizard-Y. Not sure how else to beat Mega Gardevoir without changing around your team a lot, but since that is quite uncommon you should be fine. In the event you do see it, preserve Infernape at all costs.
-
Weak team. You have absolutely nothing for SD Talonflame, Mega Pinsir, Mega Gardevoir, (i'll name more if you want), 0 Ground resistances which leaves you 100% weak to hazards (since no Defogger or Spinner) and Earthquakes, you get beaten by Stall Teams pretty easily too, etc. And Shuckle is not a Charizard/Talonflame check LOL.
-
Weak team. - You have nothing for Talonflame - There is no safe switch into Aegislash, - Ninetales is pointless when you have Charizard - Why Trevenant over Venusaur? (Sun team -> Chlorophyll sweeper) - You must be new to XY. Spin blockers dont exist anymore since Defog clears hazards regardless. - When you have over 3 Pokemon super weak to Stealth Rocks, you keep a Defogger. - "if I send Ninetails out first Charizard can get his job done maybe even without mega evolving. :3" No. Just no. You only have 1 Mega Pokemon why would you not mega evolve it lol. - Many other threats wont name them all unless you want me to. Solution: Swap Salamence for Latias (with Defog). In this generation, Defog clears hazards and it's unblockable. Furthermore, swap Trevenant for Venusaur to give yourself a good sun sweeper. And don't use Ninetales it sucks in this generation trust me I got #1 in the XY OU tier take my advice lol swap it for something like Heatran so you can beat Aegislash and Talonflame.
-
Hey I'm glad my sand team gave you some inspiration for this one! (it also seems you like the way I format my RMT's lol). Anyways for the team, I would strongly suggest that you keep at least 2 Pokemon that can beat standard Reborn rain teams. You have Amoonguss, which is great. However, it can't stand up to heavy hitting Swift Swimmers such as Ludicolo and Specs Kingdra, which people seem to really love using on this ladder. Specs / LO Ice Beam can cost you the game entirely. It's difficult to solve this without changing your team around a lot, but a good suggestion would be to replace Scarf Heatran for Scarf Chandelure, which can help trap Pokemon that the rest of your team can't handle, act as an anti-spinner, and trap weakened Politoeds and KO with Energy Ball to ensure that you win the weather war. Furthermore, your team also has trouble beating Mamoswine (as well as opposing Excadrills without popped balloons). The Chandelure I recommended to you (with Energy Ball) can check Mamoswine but it is by no means a safe switch into Mamoswine. I would recommend keeping a back-up Pokemon to beat it. I strongly recommend a bulky CM Suicune over Alakazam, which can effectively sweep with Calm Mind, as well as tank attacks from Mamoswine and Excadrill, while being another Pokemon to beat opposing rain teams (since it has Water Absorb). EDIT: Some minor nitpicks that will help: - Run Shed Shell on Amoonguss to avoid getting trapped by Chandelure. - Run Rocky Helmet on Xatu to outplay stallmons that spam weak moves. - You only need 56 speed on Xatu to hit 240 for Breloom, not 60 Speed.

[Rank 1] Forgotten Sands (Balanced Sand Team Feat. HippoGar)
Lord Emvee replied to Lord Emvee's topic in Pokémon Fan Club
Thanks for the rate everyone! @Lobos: Rotom-W is no problem Ferrothorn beats it. Also your calc is wrong for my Rotom-W. You put "232 HP / 0 Def" for my Rotom-W when it has 212 Def. I have no problem against Keldeo because Rotom-W has plenty of Defense to tank Secret Swords, even against a CM set. Excadrill and Gengar can also do some good damage to Keldeo as well. Sun teams are no trouble at all (nobody that even ladders on Reborn uses a sun team anyways except Dark Desire and I know his team already) Ninetales is obviously the underdog of the weather war, and it's harder to switch in Ninetales this kind of team. Gengar subs easy behind sun teams and hit the opposing Pokemon. Venusaur is no problem just keep up the momentum with Xatu's U-Turn and Rotom-W's Volt Switch everytime an opponent tries to get Venusaur in, in order to make sure the weather is always in your favor so you can outrun it. Rapid Spin is not needed on Excadrill, as the team isn't entirely hazard weak, and I have Xatu for that anyways. X-Scissor is needed otherwise Serperior becomes a massive threat. Thanks for the rate!- 6 replies

. Forgotten Sands ------------------------------------------------------- Intro Hello Reborn Community, hope you haven't forgotten me! I have recently returned once again after taking a few months break from the server. I noticed how the ladder changed a bit (how my #1 account decayed a lot, and how my good friend Kamina had 3 accounts in the top 3 LOL). I felt it was time to get rank 1 once again with another amazing team of mine. I have decided to RMT it, so that I can share my success with the community. Instead of laddering on my old account (which would have been incredibly easy because it really only takes a few battles to get over my decay), I started fresh with a brand new team and a brand new account. After only a single day of laddering, I was very easily able to get #1, and reclaim my title as Reborn's #1. Like my previous RMTs, this one is another Semi Stall, however, this time I've chosen to build a team around Hippowdon and Gengar, a really interesting duo (HippoGar). And without further ado, I present to you all a very strong Reborn Sand team, which is really easy and fun to use. I literally won almost every single ladder match with this team (bar one match where some kid I don't even know crit me a bunch of times and made me lose over 20 pts). But anyways, onto the "Forgotten Sands". Proof of Success Team Preview Team Building Process Team In Depth Hippowdon @ Leftovers | Sand Stream Careful | 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpD Stealth Rock | Slack Off | Whirlwind | Earthquake Specially Defensive Hippowdon is surprisingly bulky. It is able to live pretty much any un-boosted attack on full HP, bar strong Hydro Pumps. Stealth Rock is of course essential because every Semi Stall team needs it in order to do residual damage to your opponent's team per switch. Whirlwind helps me shuffle around the opponent's team in order to avoid getting swept, against Baton Pass teams, and to do more residual damage when all my hazards are set up. Whether or not you choose to lead with Hippowdon is entirely up to you. For me, I prefer leading with Rotom-W because I don't like to give away the fact that I am running a Sand team, and would rather wait to see what my opponent is using (and if they are running Rain, try and beat it before bringing out Hippowdon). If this is not something you're interested in, lead with Hippowdon, as it proves reliable right from turn 1. ------------------------------------------------------- Gengar @ Black Sludge | Levitate Timid | 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe Substitute | Disable | Shadow Ball | Focus Blast Sub Disable Gengar is quite difficult to beat in this Meta-Game. I have found that opponents that are unprepared to face such a threat often get swept right after I set up a Substitute. Using Disable effectively is all about prediction. Knowing when to use Disable and when not to use it separates the inexperienced players from the experienced players. For example, you wouldn't risk using a Disable on an Expert Belt Thunderus-T because it has more than one move to hit you with. Once you get the hang of it though, it's quite simple to use. Gengar plays the role of my Specially Offensive attacker, as well as my anti-spinner. It is able to block opposing Pokemon from Rapid Spinning, though when you come across Starmie, don't risk switching Gengar head on into it because you could get KO'd. Ferrothorn would be a safer switch into Starmie, until you are able to get rid of it. Ultimately, Gengar works better if you play your cards right, but once you get the hang of it, you'll be amazed at its potency. ------------------------------------------------------- Xatu @ Rocky Helmet | Magic Bounce Bold | 252 HP / 200 Def / 56 Spe Thunder Wave | Roost | Heat Wave | U-Turn Xatu helps me keep hazards off my side of the playing field with its ability Magic Bounce. Bouncing back Status and other non attacking moves is also really fun. I love its item Rocky Helmet because anything that touches it takes some extra damage, which is pretty useful. 56 Speed outruns Adamant Breloom. T-Wave helps me slow down opposing threats and U-Turn out after doing so (assuming it's not safe to stay in. Heat Wave is mainly for the Skarmory, Ferrothorn, and Forretress that you switch into. It's also good for Scizor, Breloom, and the occasional Genesect that dares to switch in on it. It is important that you keep the momentum going with U-Turn if you know (or suspect) your opponent has Tyranitar, because Pursuit means the end of Xatu, and you don't wanna lose Xatu early in the game. ------------------------------------------------------- Rotom-W @ Leftovers | Levitate Modest | 252 HP / 212 Def / 36 SpA / 8 Spe Volt Switch | Hydro Pump | Will-O-Wisp | Pain Split Though the moves look as standard as any Rotom-W set could get, it actually functions quite differently. Introducing Physically Defensive Rotom-W. It's defenses are solid enough that it can actually be considered a counter to Excadrill. It can take a Rock Slide at +2 easily and hit back hard with Hyrdo Pump. Genesect's U-Turn doesn't do much to it either (which is why it makes a great lead if you choose not to reveal Hippowdon early). Volt Switch creates good momentum paired with Xatu's U-Turn (creating the Volt Turn core for the team). Using it as a lead gives your opponent the false impression that you might be Scarfed, which is good if you want to play some early mind games with your opponent. Will-O-Wisp and Pain Split are of course self explanatory. Rotom-W is very important for this team, as it is the only safe Pokemon to switch into a Tornadus' Hurricane. If you have trouble outplaying it, feel free to give the 36 SpA to SDef (you tank hits better but you lose some KO's where you might need it. It also beats Mamoswine threats. Rotom-W helps against Rain Teams, which is very important because there are a lot of Swift Swim abusers on the ladder that you gotta watch out for. ------------------------------------------------------- Ferrothorn @ Shed Shell | Iron Barbs Sassy | 248 HP / 4 Atk / 88 Def / 168 SpD Spikes | Leech Seed | Thunder Wave | Power Whip Ferrothorn adds some extra hazards to the opponent's side, while also acting as a counter to opposing Rain teams. Having Stealth Rock and Spikes along with an anti-spinner for this team really demonstrates the destructiveness this team can reach in battle. Since I have chosen to run Shed Shell to avoid getting trapped by Chandelure and Magnezone, Leech Seed has been added as a move in order to get some extra HP Recovery. I had a tough time choosing whether I wanted to use Thunder Wave as its 3rd moveslot, or Protect. I found that most Pokemon that switch onto Ferrothorn are much less useful when they're paralyzed, so Thunder Wave was my final decision. Having both Xatu and Ferrothorn slow down opposing teams is really beneficial because then you won't have to worry about anything outrunning you at all. Make sure that when you're up against a Rain team, you play Ferrothorn in a very conservative manner (since it is the #1 counter to Swift Swimmers). ------------------------------------------------------- Excadrill @ Air Balloon | Sand Rush Jolly | 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe Swords Dance | Earthquake | Rock Slide | X-Scissor Excadrill is notably the best late game Sand sweeper there is to date. Blazing speed and sky high attack can really save you the game when you most need it. Everything about this Excadrill is pretty standard except for X-Scissor, which not many people run as I have noticed. The reason I use it is because it hits certain things that could wall it pretty hard. These include (and are not limited to) Slowbro, Defensive Celebi, and Bronzong (for neutral damage). Offensive threats such as Serperior, Hydreigon, Lati@s, etc, also get hit the hardest by X-Scissor. It is essential that you save Excadrill for as late in the game as possible (or when you really need to get rid of a major threat to your team) Once you get rid of the stuff that counters Excadrill, it's safe to sweep. ------------------------------------------------------- Conclusion So once again, this concludes yet another RMT. As always, I hope you all enjoyed it, because I naturally took a lot of time to make this for you all. As a reminder, this team has currently achieved #1 on the Reborn ladder (and that too, it only took me a single day to get there starting from a new account), and I'm happy to be able to share it with everyone, in hopes that you too can make it up there. If anyone is interested to use this team, the importable is down below in the spoiler box. Using this team is quite easy. Lead with either Hippowdon or Rotom-W, get up as many hazards as you can, anti-spin as hard as you can with Gengar, play conservatively by making good predictions and switches, and drive your opponent into oblivion by end sweeping with Excadrill (or Gengar if they're stupid lol). All comments are welcome, and highly encouraged since I worked really hard on this. Thanks again for taking the time to visit my latest RMT! Your team is particularly weak to rain teams in general. Suicune is not going to be able to handle it alone, as the team overall is particularly weak to LO Ludicolo and Kingdra. You'll have a tough time winning the weather war as well, because you're using a suicude lead Tyranitar. To solve your problem, swap Genesect for Ferrothorn. Your team is also weak to Terrakion, as nothing is able to safely switch in on it (Excadrill is the only check, but it can't save you against double dance sets). Not really sure what to say though, as suggesting a solution for this would result in changing your team entirely. For now though, I'd focus on trying to make your team have the upper hand in weather wars. Changing up your TTar set for example, would give you a better chance at winning weather wars (provided you use a bulkier set than a suicude sash lead). This is certainly not everything there is to fix but it's a start.
