  1. Ferdiad recovers +17 HP! Ferdiad is at full HP! Enemy Phase "Move up, move up! Go, go!" Scholar C moves to I10 Mage B moves to I9 Soldier A moves to J11 Scholar D moves to K13 Soldier B moves to K12 Spotting the knife on Baldur's staff, one of the Scholars equips himself with dark magic and blasts Baldur with it. Baldur braces for it, but the magic does not directly harm Baldur instead but causes the Tenderizer to spin wildly out of control, tearing deeply into Baldur's flesh! With his weakened state, he does however manage to swing it forward after the Scholar, causing him a fair bit of damage as well. The mage conjures a blade of wind in his hands, hurling it directly for Baldur. Baldur, still tending to his wounds, doesn't see the blades of wind launched from afar in time and gets sliced through; they're weak cuts, but they're just enough to cause him to go down. The Mage and Scholar share a little high five, teamwork that the last group didn't have. Kane readied himself, not sure of what kind of magic hit Baldur but knowing that whatever it was, it was coming for him next. Indeed, the other Scholar brandished the same dark tome and sent the blast right for him. Kane effortlessly whips around the blast, brandishing a knife that he twirls between his fingers in a display of confidence. "Do you think I'm going to let you get away with what you did to Orchid with your foul magic!?" Before the Scholar can react, a knife is hurled into his gut, and then another knife manages to pierce right through his heart, killing him before he can even react. Both Soldiers look nervously at the Scholar that just got utterly annihilated, before both agreeing that they were not going to go near that scary leader. Instead, they went ahead and did what they did best with their polearms; attack the one on the horse. Their double attack proves to be too much for Ferdiad to properly avoid, but he manages to counterattack them just fine. Player Phase Ferdiad recovers 6 of my hard work HP! EXP: (18/100) Stats
  2. Just as the Ascetic was quietly celebrating his survival, planning on a swift retreat, he sees Mim pulling back an arrow directed right towards him. "...Ah, shi-" His sentence is punctuated by the sound of an arrow planting itself right between his eyes. EXP: (107/100) *LEVEL UP!* Stats
  3. Soldier C has resigned to his fate of getting pummeled without any hope of retaliation, so when the icicles stick in his body, he knew there wasn't anything left for him. With a smirk, he decided to make sure it ended quickly. "C'mon, that's it? Just a few icicles? I got hit with a whole javelin earlier, surely you gotta have more..." Perhaps it was the obvious bait or the taunt, but whatever the case was, Lysander had it in him to fire a few more icicles to end the soldier's life and bring him down to the same level as his comrade. With a 'clang', the Soldier's key falls to the floor. Lysander obtained Door Key x1! Meanwhile, the exploding of a silent but angry fireball and the cry of a horse marks the fact that Arthur had just incinerated a foe, not even looking at the explosion as he quickly gestured to Mim to move forward (though in a significantly gentler manner than he was doing before). Mim moves again! Lenore sneaks in and manages to get the Ascetic in the back, causing him to cry out in pain. He whips around and tries to blast Lenore with a ray of light, but she's too quick for him... though Lenore can't quite bring herself to pull the trigger, giving the Ascetic too much ample opportunity to dive away. On the bright side, he looks a little more grateful than his comrade who fought Reiko. EXP: (103/100) *LEVEL UP!* Stats
  4. Lysander and Arthur move again! Ferdiad, in all of his might, prepares to hurl a javelin at the soldier who looks rather defenseless. "Told that idiot... now he won't even be here to help me out. Not like he would have done much anyway... alright, c'mon, I don't got much to go home to and I'm sure you're dying for my keys." His defenseless and apathetic nature causes Ferdiad's hand to tremble slightly, throwing off his aim ever so slightly. The Soldier's apathy proves to be a blunder, however, as he doesn't get out of the way in time. A small groan of pain escapes him as the javelin manages to pierce his shoulder very slightly. EXP: (93/100) Stats
  5. Automated Movement Shin to I12, Training Bow Mage A, canto to G12 Cecily's hammer, though slow, tears through the knight's armor in a flash and crushes him to bits. He doesn't even have a moment to scream before he is pulverized, his poleaxe clanging to the ground right afterwards. Shin, meanwhile, snipes the mage at a careful distance. Morale looks shaky among the final four troops, but they still stand strong... for now. EXP: (89/100) Stats
  6. Pinecone did not falter for even a moment even when he missed his attack. As far as he was concerned, his job was not to fight; that was his comrades' jobs. For him, it was to be a shield. With a silent signal, Pinecone urged Ebon to move forward as he protected everyone to the best of his ability... though Stardust might be a bit wriggly for him at the moment. Once Lotus attacks, Ebon move to E8, attack the Marauder if Lotus misses, use a Vulnerary on Pinecone if Lotus hits, canto to F7
  7. Though Onyx's yelling may have just about woken everyone within a five mile radius, Rein did not so much as flinch. In fact, they just remained very still, listening patiently to all of Onyx's complaints. Also, if they noticed Reina's strange black ooze, they did not point it out. As she finished, he chimed in with his own comment among the other ones. "Don't worry, FebruaryHowl," Rein said that last name with what one might be sure is a completely straight face, "I am not a dark mage, if you are concerned about that. I actually prefer knives and bows, myself, though I have been dabbling in swordplay. The method I used to summon you is not dark magic. I would hesitate to call it ancient magic as well, knowing that ancient magic is just another form of dark magic. I would say... it's timeless magic." Rein turned to Davor as soon as they finished talking to Onyx, not the least bit worried that Onyx might not believe them and start fighting them. "Indeed, you were not invited. You are not being forced to help me, in fact if you so wish you can stay inside here where you are safe, and you will be able to go home when the errand is finished. However, you may be subject to having to wait a long time, or suffer boredom, or-" Suddenly, the door bursts open, a rush of cold air filling the room. "Sir Goretti! Is there a problem with the others!?" Rein calmly turned to the door, still seated. The door is a bit of a ways away, and it's difficult to see who's really there other than they are a heavily armored woman. "Not at all. I'm certain we'll all come to agreements in time. Please close the door and come get something to eat, I'm sure you'd like to meet everyone? "Ah- Of course. I had been looking forward to seeing everyone." As the sound of clanging metal grows closer, so does every feature of the woman's face. If she had been nursing the same headache as you all were, she didn't show any of it. There wasn't an ounce of grogginess, a sliver of exhaustion or even a need for a moment's rest. What you saw on the woman's face was diligence. As if she had woken up from a deep, deep sleep and wanted nothing more than to get up and run a mile while shouting in excitement, bursting to the brim with energy; yet at the same time, there was the tranquility of a noble lady... or perhaps that was just the crown sitting atop her head making you think that. "I apologize for the wait, but I assure everyone that the perimeter is protected. My name is Stella Beaumont, knight of... oh, what was it again?" The gentle voice trails off as she attempts to think, but you all already know from your own short time spent so far as an amnesiac that this is futile; you cannot remember any names. "I feel like I really should remember... oh well." A sigh escapes her lips as she sits down with one final clanking of armor.
  8. Rein looked up and down at Hades. Despite the amount they were tilting their head, it was almost impossible to see under their hood; even what little could be seen was just an almost unnatural shadow. As if they purposely wanted to conceal their appearance. "I speak for myself when I say that I am a guide, helping you all to achieve a destiny that you have all been chosen for out of a limitless amount of people in every known timeline. As for the rest of who everyone is... well, that's for you to ask them yourself. Gather around, gather around, let us all share what we can of ourselves." Rein ushered to all of you to come closer. "The blood was a requirement of mine to have you all be summoned here. As I said, you have all traveled from a great distance. This place is isolated in time, however; you will not be considered missing from where you are. You will be able to return, and once you return it will be almost like waking up from a dream." You cannot see Rein's face, but his posture might suggest that they were smiling. "I assure you that it is my own blood, I did not take from anyone else. As for this fort, this is my home. Please, make yourselves comfortable— oh, where are my manners?" Rein begins dishing up, laying out enough bowls for all of you and the missing person from inside of his cloak, then procuring a ladle also from inside of his cloak. As if it were completely normal for people to keep kitchenware in their cloaks, Rein began serving the contents of the cauldron into the bowls; it was a stew, plain and simple, but if it didn't look like almost the tastiest stew you had ever had.
  9. Chapter 1 The Whims of Fate The flickering of a light flame. The smell of a delicious home-cooked meal. The sound of gentle winds blowing outside, sending a slight chill down your spine. The feeling of a sharp headache shooting through your head, one that made you want to stay in bed no matter how uncomfortable it was. Your bed wasn't the most comfortable place in the world, being only what you were sure was a small mattress pad, a sheet and a thin blanket. At least there were two pillows under your head... Wait a minute. On second thought, this wasn't your bed. Come to think of it, do you even have a bed? Or a name? No. You know what your name is. You can recall that much. You lay in bed, trying to fight away the headache with the warmth of the flame and the smell of food. Those two things allow you to figure out a little more about yourself... Your likes. Your dislikes. You know that you like and dislike certain things, but you can't think of why. You just do. And, now that you think about it— there's a motivation. Something that suddenly makes you want to get out of bed and figure out what this place is. You aren't sure where you are at all. It's not familiar, wherever it is. It's some kind of fortress; you can see glass windows that show that there is a light snowfall outside an otherwise snowy forest. You're surrounded by stone, making you probably count your blessings for the slightly uncomfortable bedding that at least it's not the cold, hard floor. Your attention is briefly glanced down to the strange circle that you seem to be inside of. It's some kind of dusty red material. Your mind probably jumps to blood. Whether you're alarmed or not does not help your senses turn to where that delicious smelling food is coming from, as well as that dimly lit fire that allowed you to see six other figures in the same kind of bedding you were in, an empty bed... And... someone, sitting over a fire that was holding up a cauldron. Whatever was in that cauldron smelled really good. But whatever the case, whoever that someone was— you couldn't tell who or what was there because they were obscured entirely by a black cloak. As you stir, you notice that the other six begin to stir as well, and the black cloaked figure claps his hands— at least, you think those are hands underneath those really long sleeves of his. "Ah... Finally, you who hath been chosen for a great destiny, hath awakened..." You can tell that this deep, dramatic voice is not this person's normal voice; they're making it dramatic on purpose. If you had to wager a guess on what their true voice was like, their voice would be bordering on the edge of feminine and masculine; impossible to really tell any gender based on voice alone. "I am Rein Goretti, dweller of the mind and fragment of the universe... You hath all made it to my domain from a far, far place, eons, galaxies, perhaps even a measurement not even known to mankind, away from this center of the universe. I am certain that you are all very tired from your journey... Please, allow yourselves to rest. Eat, and sit by the fire. Talk amongst yourselves, and above all, and ask me to the extent of my knowledge any questions you may wish answered. There is an eighth of you... but she was quite insistent that she make sure that there were no enemies surrounding my little home. I'm certain that she will come back soon, you are all quite safe here. I promise." Davor, Hades, Máni, Onyx, Reina, Shelley and Suzume may post!
  10. The Cavalier is hopeless in his attempt to try and counterattack the blade of wind that comes after him just from around the corner. It's not quite enough to take him down, though it does leave him a bit worried about his situation as he attempts to brush off the wound. EXP: (81/100) Stats
  11. Now that the opportunity had presented itself, it was... quite painful to watch, actually. She was surprised that they were still standing after that onslaught, and she had especially worried about Owena. Thankfully she held up fine, and it was just a matter of holding up her end especially if she was going to be on the back lines like this. Readying her bow, she prepared to charge in. "Er- Alunda, right? Can you heal my sister? Those burns look nasty and I'd rather she not deal with them for too long..." Mercia to K11, shoot Wisp B, canto back to H11 Alunda to G11, heal Owena
  12. "Right...!" Mercia plans to ready her bow and arrow, but then proceeds to notice the... rather inconvenient positioning with Argos, Aristotle and Owena all taking the front lines. Sighing, Mercia whispers a small apology to Aya as she just hovers in place, trying not to feel sorry for herself for too much longer. Mercia hold Alunda hold and probably yell at Argos about something
  13. Pinecone barely noticed Stardust slamming into him due to his already beefy stature and his determination to keep pressing forward. He was not oblivious to the rest of the battle, however. Seeing Sting go down... how much pain did she have to be in? He felt disappointed in himself; this had to have been his fault. How could he let that happen? Pinecone gripped his javelin, and prepared to hurl it at the final challenger of the grass. "Sir Bend! Use that..." A brief pause as Pinecone realized he had no idea what Bend was using. "You must heal Sting as quickly as possible! I will take care of things up here!" Pinecone to E7, throw javelin at Marauder D, guard+ anyone adjacent (except Stardust) ONLY from the Elite Plunderers, NOT from Shinywings or Seeker-of-a-Dignified-Death. If Pinecone gets healed, he will guard against Shinywings as well, unless Shinywings does not attack him; then he will guard against Seeker-of-a-Dignified-Death. Bend to D10, healtweet for Sting
  14. The Cavalier realizes how much of a pickle he's in having to fight an axe user, especially one as accurate as Fey. He doesn't take much at all to go down, though he does take a couple of hits. EXP: (79/100) Stats
  15. As Arthur wipes ash off of his gloves, Lizaveta moves in to do some further dark magic. The streaks of dark magic that fly forward strike the Cavalier, causing the horse to panic and whinny, screwing up the Cavalier's counterattack as the javelin lands with a thud in front of Lizaveta. EXP: (75/100) Stats
  16. Arthur didn't speak, but he gives a slight look of anger at the Knight to show that he did understand what he was to do. The Knight steadied himself at Lizaveta barraged him with a few streaks of dark magic, pieces of his armor chipping off as promised... ...before Arthur moved in, a burst of flame forming around his hand. "It's not even a challenge at this point," Arthur coldly said while staring down the Knight, before lobbing the fireball directly after the Knight. The fireball collides with the Knight, who already can barely keep up... until Arthur decides that's not enough. "If you all continue to oppose me," Arthur said, turning to a few of the enemy soldiers, "this is what I'll do to you!" With a wave of his hand, the fireball explodes and the Knight is burnt down to cinders, whatever traces of his armor having been reduced to ash. Arthur gave a cold glare to the enemies who now looked quite terrified, before looking to Lizaveta. "If that was satisfactory, then show me more of what you can do!" Lizaveta can move again! EXP: (73/100) Stats
  17. Mim's greatbow looks menacing. So menacing, in fact, that the Mage made it a point to absolutely do not get hit by that thing no matter what. Though he only had a split second to react, he managed to dance around Mim's arrows using his Elwind to bolster his speed, firing a few blades of wind that hit Mim in the process. He gets a bit too cocky and lets up for just a brief moment, and Mim's arrow hits him right in the gut, stopping his dancing. EXP: (67/100) Stats
  18. Pinecone showed no fear as he was able to, despite his stocky build, whirl around some of the attacks and endure the pain inflicted by other attacks. Wielding his javelin with expertise, he continued to stab and hurl it at everyone, going two handed as he guarded everyone as best as he could. Without a shred of fear, he continued his advance. Ebon stab the Marauder, canto to B8 Pinecone to E8, yeet javelin at Pillager, Guard+ any people surrounding him
  19. Mim recovers +18 HP! Mim is at full HP! "Right! Thistle, careful of any stragglers!" Kane called out before drawing a knife and hurling it at the Ascetic. It lodges itself in the Ascetic's chest. The guy just groans in annoyance, not even really giving much care to where his spell lands as Kane winds up another knife. "Screw this... Hate my boss, anyway." He rolls his eyes as the next knife lands right in the heart, causing him to just fall to the ground having died probably as he lived; very, very annoyed with everything. EXP: (65/100) Stats
  20. Pinecone suffered somewhat of a shock when the axe tore through his flesh. He barely even noticed, only doing a completely autonomous motion to hurl his javelin somewhat clumsily at the one who attacked him. Pinecone looked at what was wrong; he could see blood. Blood on him. Was this the pain that his enemies suffered? He barely even noticed; attacks rarely pierced his fuzzy body or his wooden armor. Before he could even recuperate, the plastic tore right into the wound. It made him stumble, dropping to a knee and using his javelin to support himself. Why? Why was he unable to keep going? Pinecone only just then realized that for the first time, he was experiencing pain. He fumbled for the vulneraries to his side. He remembered hearing that these were supposed to heal wounds. These were wounds he was suffering; as baffling as it was that he was suffering such wounds, he had to rectify this. No, Pinecone didn't react to the fact that Stardust was currently flailing and screaming and just killed someone for the first time. To him, it was just something that had to be learned. And yet... was she in pain from doing this? But she didn't have any blood. She surely couldn't be suffering from pain if there was no blood, right? The whole situation was strange, but the least he could do was back her up. After all, that was his job, right? Backup! He could do this! He gulped down the vulnerary and stood guard, looking to the one on the crow and the ant flute player. A sense of determination came back to him as his wounds began to slow their bleeding. "We have to press forward no matter what. Attack, then get behind me. I won't allow you to experience pain." After Ebon and Bend attacked, Pinecone marched forward. He was unresponsive to Stardust's screaming, but he still stood guard over her. "If I must shoulder the pain so that others don't have to experience it, then I am forever their shield." He said to no one in particular except himself. Ebon move to B7, attack Pillager B, canto to D8 Bend move to D9 and perform for Ebon Ebon move to E7, attack Pillager C, canto to E8 Pinecone to D8, drink a Vulnerary, Guard+ for Bend, Ebon and Stardust.
  21. Mercia looked embarrassed when Alunda yelled; whether she was yelling at her or at Argos was equally as bad considering she got Argos in trouble. Then the skeleton laughing at her— she cursed her rusty aim silently. A dejected, somewhat emotionless look on her face remained as she hovered in place, waiting for enemies to get closer with a sort of indifference. She could only mutter a quiet "alright... sorry," to Argos, unfortunately not having felt any better. She was definitely in a slump, one that she knew she had to get out of quickly but couldn't... Mercia hadn't noticed when her phoenix slowly lowered itself to allow Aya to pat her back and encourage her. Mercy? She hadn't been called that before. It admittedly brought a small blush to her cheeks, a contrast to her otherwise emotionless look. A nod came in response. "O-... Okay. Next time, though, I'll try not to be so reckless..." A tilt of her head showed that she also spoke to Argos, as if trying to make up for her crummy reassurance from before.
  22. The Ascetic looks somewhat offended when Reiko apologizes. "Hey, you're trying to kill me! Your apologies don't mean anything! At least let me get one more shot on that damned horseman-" They notice that there really isn't any time for complaints, and start readying their light magic. "Damn it-!" The Ascetic definitely emerges the worse of the two, still standing but heavily breathing while trying to close up the stab wound in their gut, but Reiko does feel the sting of a light spell. EXP: (59/100) Stats
  23. Enemy Phase Axe Knight B moves to H15 Axe Knight A moves to G14 Ascetic A moves to F15 Cavalier B moves to G15 Cavalier A moves to H14 Mage A moves to H13 Ascetic A moves to I13 Soldier C moves to H12 The Knight is slow and limbering. Though he tried to go for the easy target, Shin was more than ready to get out of his way. The sounds of hoofbeats can be heard as the two Cavaliers ride in, wielding their javelins. Distinguishing between the heavily armored Ferdiad and the not nearly as well-armored Shin, they hurl javelins after Shin to try and make up for their comrade's failure. Shin is, once again, too fast for them. In a desperate attempt to get any work that their comrades were absolutely doing none of, the Ascetic moved forward. Deciding Shin was just too slippery and risky of a target, they go for the safer Ferdiad. IT hits, but it doesn't do much. Though it wasn't very successful, the Mage agrees with the Ascetic's idea to try and plink away at the safer target of Ferdiad. A pair of horses can be heard whinnying from the right, but a voice is heard. "Wait! Wait til we can get into range! Do you even care about us getting into the fray!? Sheesh!" Player Phase Ferdiad recovers 6 HP! EXP: (57/100) Stats
  24. Mercia froze in slight terror and got sent into a panic immediately after she unfroze from hearing what 'volatile' meant. "Er, um, on second thought, I think I do like- er... His idea," Mercia said as she gestured to Vlassis. "I'm sorry, Argos, I was being too careless..." Mercia's renewed vigor suddenly turned back into that indifferent, depressed state, clearly beating herself a bit too much for making Argos look stupid.
