  1. Mercia did not have a proper schooling education. Her education was cooking, cleaning, and shooting things with arrows. The latter of which she was self-taught. Unfortunately, she did not know what v-o-l-a-t-i-l-e spelled out. She thought about it for a second. "I think the warning might just be trying to scare us. It should be okay!"
  2. Mercia allowed herself to be idle, not really commenting on the scenery or the theatrics as she attempted to recollect her thoughts. So much was happening in the moment— they were going to break out, her sister included. It was difficult to comprehend after a few years in a hellish servitude that made her occasionally wish she was back to being a slave in Sparta, but she managed to just stay quiet and wait after grabbing a bow and stretching her limbs a little bit. Seeing the Minotaur prompted a small gasp from her, but the exchange instead made her ready to do anything to help out. She took out her bow, but suddenly realized a problem. She certainly was a decent archer, but not having a phoenix to ride atop... Mercia did not complain, though. I know I can do this. I have to. I'll make it back to you— As if on cue, a familiar birdsong pierced the air. Right from behind Asterios' exit came a phoenix, surely a shocking sight for many. Mercia did not realize how it was possible, only speculating that the phoenix may have flown through the Temple of Styx; after all, she did encounter the phoenix in the area. No tears were shed, but it looked like if Mercia had been a bit more emotionally attached she might have. The phoenix swooped through the fiends, avoiding nearby swipes to land in front of Mercia, who put her arms around the lowered neck of the phoenix and gently nuzzled it. "You came all this way... for me? Thank you... I hope you don't mind being thrown so quickly into battle especially with how rusty I am." The phoenix crooned and lowered itself for Mercia to mount, and take flight. Mercia almost stumbled a bit, but managed to stay on. "It's probably best we try and take a defensive formation for now and push forward when we get closer... Argos, right? Try to take that pillar right there; it'll provide you some ample cover to go take down some enemies... see if you can smash that crystal a bit, too." Argos to H9, invoke mayhem on the crystal Mercia to G10, shoot Skell Sword A, canto to H11

  4. Fire Emblem on Forums Randomizer (Alternatively: Fire Emblem on Forums: An Exercise in Patience and Ridiculousness) Many tales of adventurers exist in many histories. From the youngest peasants to the greatest royals, everyone has their own story to be told. From skulking thieves to heroic knights, everyone has an adventure that they must undertake for the sake of fulfilling a goal. Those goals may be personal, or they may be for the people. Every story has a beginning and an end, with every detail taken into consideration for the understanding; what makes a hero? One of these things that makes a hero is their talent. These stories of heroes that we follow involve battle, danger of the highest degree as heroes fight to the bitter end for the sake of what they believe is right. For them to survive in battle, they use their greatest strengths. Some triumph with brute strength, other use their cunning and wisdom. What a hero has in store for his opponents is always a mystery at first, one that the opponents do not expect. Sometimes, not even the hero can expect what is to come from their own talents. --- Hello once again, and welcome to a brand new Fire Emblem on Forums created by Cole, the one who brought you Mortal Transgressions! Everything you know about Fire Emblem on Forums will simultaneously be tested and thrown out, for this is a Randomizer that will completely shred all sensibility from the handbooks. There is no sense of balance. No sense of understanding. Nothing will make sense and nothing is going to make sense. There will be times where you have to just stop, look at what the hands of fate have dealt you, and just ask yourself "why?" To that end, even if this is completely off the wall bonkers I would like you all to take a look and see what is in store if you desire to enter this maniacal thread of torment. What Is Randomized? FAQs (no, you don't get lore, you get a FAQs section) Gameplay Changes (besides the randomization) General Changes Weapon Proficiency Changes Character Skill Changes Class Skill Changes Additional Classes The Players Before you get sheet building, let me stop you as you will be randomized a sheet. By me. You will tap me on the shoulder through DMs, PMs or in the Discord server (depending on where you want your things randomized, if you want me to make a spectacle out of it or you just want the sheet) and say you want to be randomized a sheet (note that I do ask if you get randomized a sheet that you are willing to play regardless of if you get dealt a crummy sheet, I'd rather not randomize sheets for people who don't want to play and just want a random sheet either— at least, not until the game finishes). When I randomize you your sheet, you can fill it out with the progressions, skills, etc. If you're new to FEF, I ask that you please not bother with this one, this is a stupid gimmick FEF that is not for the faint-hearted. Try to wait for another game, I promise it'll be more worth your while. Deadline to get everything done is Thursday, April 9th at 11:59 PM EST and sheets will be announced the following Friday; there will be six players as this is not a long or serious campaign. Also, just to warn you all ahead of time; I'm only picking three of the characters which will be based on how creative one got with the randomized hand they were dealt (again, backstory not necessary, though it does help). The other three applicants? Dice roll, baby.
  5. The Fighter doesn't even get a chance to meet Shin's unnerving gaze as a well placed arrow makes him the last of the bodies that hit the floor. One of the knights stares at the group, then looks to the sides. "Don't ambush them right away; wait for an opening to hit them from both sides!" Seems there may be more enemies than the main group you see in front of the door coming from the hallways, but not immediately... EXP: (50/100) Stats
  6. Mim and the Scholar exchange blows; neither miss, Mim gets a bit frazzled but it's better than being dead like the Scholar is. EXP: (46/100) Stats
  7. Reiko manages to stab the Fighter. He groans in pain, looking about ready to collapse as he attempts to swing his mace; Reiko's too fast for him as she gets out of the way just in time. EXP: (42/100) Stats
  8. Arthur flipped a lock of his hair in response to Baldur, merely looking at the Fencer with a charging Wind tome. "I'll slice you to bits!" The Fencer doesn't get a choice in the matter, just a scream as he is indeed sliced up by Arthur's wind blasts. Reiko sees Arthur's wrath, and her own wrath feels a fire burning within. Reiko can move again! Cautious, and not nearly as determined to murder everything as Arthur (though definitely keeping his eyes out), Kane moves in to sneak a shot on the Fighter; the guy doesn't even get a chance to notice the knife embedded in him before he falls over. Baldur, meanwhile, sees fit to give the scholar no mercy as he rends the poor person's flesh and ruins their nice robes. EXP: (40/100) Stats
  9. With her slim and non-bulky sword, Reiko goes for a crushing swipe against the Scholar. It hits, but it leaves her wide open to get electrocuted, leaving her slightly disoriented. Tabitha's staff patches up the slash wound that Fey obtained a little while ago. Fey recovers +18 HP! Fey is at full HP! Meanwhile, Justine's performance keeps it going all night long. Mim and Lizaveta can move again! EXP: (28/100) Stats
  10. Mercia gave a gentle nod, looking back to Owena with a rather sad smile. She certainly had been used to slave work even if she went back to it after a long time, but when invigorated she did want to get out of there as soon as possible. "Yeah... Yeah, I have. Then I'm in," Mercia said with a slightly newfound resolve, turning back to Argos. "I'll trust that you'll lead us well, erm... Argos von Bodin." She did hope she got his name right, he really did try to practice his introduction.
  11. Mercia sighed at the sudden arrival. Couldn't it wait? After a flashy entrance that she did admittedly feel a bit indifferent towards, no offense to this Argos, just that you just happened to pick someone I really wasn't mentally prepared to see again, Mercia turned back to Owena. "I'm... I'm in only if you are."
  12. Lizaveta fires off a barrage of wind blasts; the Fighter doesn't even get a change as he is hit, but he refuses to let the spell get him down. The potion heals Reiko's wounds pretty well! Reiko recovers +15 HP! Reiko is at full HP! Full of vigor from the effectiveness of her potions, no matter how reluctant Reiko may have been to receive it, Mim fires an arrow that seems to sail directly through the chest of the Fencer, causing him to double over and collapse in pain. EXP: (22/100) Stats
  13. Mercia felt pathetic. How long had she been rotting away in this hell, covered in the cold blanket of self-loathing? She felt pathetic because it hadn't been that long, surely. A few years probably wasn't anything to the denizens of the underworld, but it certainly was a lot to her. She was tired. Tired of existing. She hated the fact that there was an afterlife, because it meant that she couldn't just resign to her fate and completely die. She was dead, but not really. It was exhausting. Exhausting being alone without anyone to keep her company. Her phoenix, her king, her friends... Her sister. Every time Mercia thought of her sister, the thought of her face and her last words echoing before she allowed herself to fall on the battlefield made her collapse. She didn't shed tears, but she felt an emptiness that was worse than tears. She at least wished for that much emotion, to know she was still alive— how stupid of her, she wasn't alive, she was dead. But could she really call this being dead? It felt worse. Worse than death. She would have given anything to just escape it, to have a second chance... And so her second chance came. If she had any semblance of her old self, she would have laughed. How ridiculous, the idea of being free from death? She was dead, and nothing was going to change that. And yet, something was oddly comforting about the presence. Maybe it was the fact that he was the first one to talk to her in years— it was probably that. And so, she waited. She hated having to work, but at least she could work with some sort of renewed vigor; maybe there was a chance. Or maybe it was just some soul pulling a prank on her. Either way, it gave her something to keep her going. It was nice to not be whipped into submission from being slow or suffering from an emotionless breakdown. Her break came early, though she didn't notice at first; she hadn't gotten used to when break time was, it was all the same to her. She waited, twiddling her thumbs, wondering if the so-called savior would come during break, only for the voice to hit her. She hadn't been really listening to the other voices, but that voice that she heard... It was singled out in her mind. For even just a second, it didn't register— it had been so long. And yet, when she turned and saw, she felt all of that emotion and excitement begin to wither into complete and utter... why? Why wasn't it hope? Why wasn't it joy and excitement? It had been so long, they were finally together, and yet... "...It... It happened shortly after—" A slight hiccup. "H-... How can you still look me in the eye? After what I did?... We had been apart for so long, and I gave you the worst greeting in the history of-" Mercia paused, stifling a little giggle at her own silly behavior despite her sorrow; it seemed that part of her hadn't left her after all. A few tears slid down her cheeks, as if to remind her that she was indeed still someone. "...Th... That guy... with the crown and the mismatched eye colors... did he call for you too?"
  14. Ferdiad reluctantly hurls a javelin into the Fencer's body. He can only watch as he is unable to retaliate. Enemy Phase One of the Scholars charged in to send a lightning bolt at the dodgy Reiko. However, she's more than prepared for his onslaught. The Fencer that nursed a burn wound courtesy of Arthur charged in after Fey, feeling a bit lucky with his steel blade. He hits, but suffers an axe wound for his troubles. The other Fencer, stubborn to make up for where his scholar friend failed, unsheathes a knife to try and parry Reiko's sword (if she actually had it out). She is unable to dodge his quick strike. Intending on bludgeoning past Ferdiad's defenses, one of the Fighters goes in for the attack. The Scholar is a tad less confident than his fighting friend being a bit squishier, but goes in for the attack nonetheless against Ferdiad. Despite his shaky legs, he manages to get out of the way of the counterattack in time. The second Fighter does not look thrilled to be fighting the very pissed off Arthur, but understands he has no choice. He wishes he had just stayed put. TURN 2 Player Phase Ferdiad recovers 6 HP! EXP: (16/100) Stats
  15. As always, Pinecone had pretty much nothing to say on the matter. He was eerily quiet, and would be out of place if it were not for Ebon's silence as well as he simply marched up forward, preparing to be the shield for his allies, as he prepared his javelin against one of the looters. A brief pause came to Pinecone before he threw it. "Just following orders!" Pinecone to B8, hurl javelin at Looter B, guard Ebon and Lotus
  16. "...I'm tired of fighting, but I'm not sure how much longer I can bear to wallow in self-pity. So please... Please let me try to make up for my mistakes in any way that I can."
  17. Arthur looked more than eager to get into the midst of the fighting, glaring down the Fencer. "I've been dead silent for these past couple of hours because I've had to deal with bullshit that would make cannon fodder like you wither up and die just by the mere thought of it. My mind's had to dig up shit I've been working tirelessly to bury because of pricks like that complete imbecile you work for thinking they can do whatever the fuck they want. You have a second to listen to the myrmidon and get the fuck out of my way." The Fencer looked nervous, and opened his mouth. The second he opened his mouth, Arthur incinerated him and let only screams come out. When the flames died down, the Fencer could only look at Arthur with a what the hell, man!? kind of expression as Arthur made a slight tsking noise. EXP: (5/100) Stats
  18. When Reiko was noticed, the reaction was not pleasant nor was it exactly welcoming. Immediately, the guards all took a fighting stance, ready to be engaged in combat. One of the Fighters called back. "Oi! We've got intruders! They look like a buncha bandits to me- wait, those masks... stay on your guard!" Reiko gains +26 Evasion and loses a counterattack! The Fencer, thankfully due to Reiko's sudden presence, was able to get himself ready for Lizaveta's onslaught. Watching carefully for the attack, he swiftly dodged out of the way at a speed one would not normally expect from someone holding a giant sword. EXP: (1/100) Stats
  19. Kane could tell that there was a lukewarm response, though he didn't seem to react too much to it. It seems he expected as much. To Reiko, however, he did speak up. "...Ulux is definitely in disarray, and it's hard to see it all happening not too far from us. It makes you wonder what exactly King Darcy is doing... though apprehending him is not our goal, it'd be nice if we could do a little more. But hopefully..." Kane sighed through his nose, about to speak up again until the wagon came to a stop. Kane peeked out and surveyed the area... "As planned, a side entrance they've left so helpfully unguarded... certainly strange that it would be so unguarded. Let's proceed with caution but still hurry— just in case someone's patrolling the area." ... As you all got dressed up for the job, you all notice that there are still no guards. Kane motions for everyone to pile in through the entrance, moving slowly through the corridors. The air seems thick, somehow. It's hard to breathe, and it makes you want to stop... until you see the body of a guard on the ground near the stairs. Kane looks alarmed. "...there's someone here that isn't afraid to kill," Kane inspects the body while speaking in a low whisper. "No arrows or signs of death by poisoning or even magic, it's doubtful that it's the Icons of Sin. His face and the marks around his neck seem to imply strangulation, or choking. But what...?" Kane immediately stops once another conversation in the other room is heard. "Look, it's not my fault he didn't listen! I'm just doing my job!" "Some of us wanted to sleep, but His Majesty ordered us awake. Therefore, we're doing what he told us to do. You can't be trusted. Just keep to your post." "Rgh... that idiot...!" Kane furrows his brow, taking a quick peek around the corner and then swiftly moving away. "Sorry to interrupt the stealth mission, but I quickly counted at least ten guys in that area and possibly more considering the potential blind spots; according to Queen Stella's report, the throne room is to the right and then just dead ahead. We have no other option but to fight our way through. Prepare to move out, team!" TURN 1 Player Phase Objective: Seize the throne! EXP: (0/100) Stats
  20. Chapter 4 Palace of Temptations The moon hangs overhead as Virtuous rolls out of the pan and into the fire. Ferdiad has rejoined Virtuous, but whether his stay will be short-lived or not hinges on the defeat of the new nemeses the group has picked up: Death and his Icons of Sin. With spirits hanging low and their determined yet somewhat anxious leader attempting to make one last attempt to put everyone in higher spirits before the greatest heist of their lives begins, the party heads to the castle where a greater evil lurks within... In Castle Ulux, two guards stand stationed in front of the door to the throne room, long past everyone having gone to bed. They are the only two guards that remain inside and do not patrol the area, simply standing guard. "I... I can't keep doing this job." "Why? It's the easiest and probably only job we'll get in this shitty kingdom." "But... I mean, just think of who we're employed to! Have you ever looked him in the eye!?" "I try not to." "His eyes... He doesn't have pupils. He doesn't have any fucking pupils. Tell me, Ben, who the fuck do you know doesn't have-" "Shut up! Maybe if you didn't mouth off to him yesterday, you wouldn't have had to look him in the eye! Nobody notices that kind of shit because they aren't stupid enough to take a closer look like you are!" "I'm not doing this. I can't do this. I'm going in there." "What!? You idiot, we were told not to-" The sounds of a door creaking open. The sounds of loud, fearful shrieking. "Wh- Your Majesty!?" "...You were told, under any circumstances, to not enter my throne room." "I-I just- I, uh, I just wanted to, uh... say that I... uh... quit. "You disobeyed a direct order just to say that you quit." "...Yeah." "Hmph. Get out of my castle, and do not let me catch you skulking around here again." "...Cool." The sounds of a door creaking closed. The sounds of faint giggling. "Well, he had a reason for us to not go in there, but I actually quit! I don't have to worry about execution, he just let me go!" "..." "Hey, man, my wife may kill me, but I'll be fiiine! I'll figure it out! See you tomorrow!" Footsteps. "...your wife won't get the chance." The faint sound of coughing, hacking, gagging... "...I haven't been a good leader." The silence emphasized by the creaking wheels underneath the team was broken by Kane, who had been with a pensive expression with his arms crossed the whole ride. "No good leader allows the lives of their teammates to be put at risk. No good leader only finds a gamble as his only method of getting said teammates out of danger. And then my many flaws from before: allowing the Icons of Sin to slip through our fingers just being one of them. I've been... too easygoing. I've let you all take care of yourselves, but I should at least have a hand in helping you all out." Arthur let out a small 'hmph', seemingly indifferent either way. If Kane noticed this, he ignored it. "When we get out of this mess and take Ulux's Relic, we're going to go home and celebrate. Queen Stella can wait; I know we're still overall somewhat on the fence with supporting her entirely. We're going to go home, you're all going to get some rest, and tomorrow we focus on getting everyone back into high spirits. Ficus, we're going to tidy your room up. Orchid, you're going to help me with dinner preparations. Knight, you'll take some time to get reacquainted with everyone. And all of you... you're all going to rest, relax, take the day off and not worry about anything, not even the Icons of Sin. These are all not orders; these are requests. Not from your leader, but from someone who cares about all of you." Kane looks out from past Simeon's seat, riding the horses off of the road. "We'll be there soon."
  21. As promised, an hour passes and the sky is pitch dark, the campfires and a lantern affixed to the head of the wagon being the only things illuminating the deep, black night. Kane lets out a heavy sigh as he calls everyone to attention with a whistle. "I would like to announce before we move out that Knight is rejoining us for the time being," Kane keeps his tone professional; whether he's hiding his excitement or there is none to speak of is impossible to tell. "—on a condition that I had planned for us since night fell. Along with our goal of obtaining the Relics of Purgus, we will be taking out Death and his Icons of Sin. This will be an inevitable task for us that we will not have to go out of our way to do, considering Death will more than likely be back for us. I have a suspicion, if not an outright confirmation, that the Icons of Sin originate in Perus. I have received intel..." Kane briefly glances at Lenore and Lysander; no disappointment found in his face, but concern. "...that Famine operated in Perus, and is significantly more dangerous than we first believed; he is apparently responsible for a series of poisonings for a money extortion scheme from House Daxter of Perus, and more than likely supplies Death with his poisons. Normally, I would not confirm this, but it's thanks to Ficus that Death actually said something that we can use to our advantage..." Kane looks to Shin; again, no disappointment, but a significantly larger amount of concern. "Death let slip mention of Perus' own Lion. A small, yet foolish mistake of his, as that most likely confirms Pestilence's involvement and accounts for three fourths of the Icons of Sin being Perusian, including their leader. When we encounter Perus in any way, shape or form, be on your guard. I also want to make this perfectly clear:" Kane looks to everyone, though it's not too hard to guess who he's addressing. "No matter the personal stake, do not, I repeat, do not attempt to engage the Icons of Sin on your own or even branch off of the group when taking them on ourselves. We were lucky to get away from Death once, he's not going to let us off so easily next time. If we work as a team, we have better odds than they do. And I promise you all that I will never let an underhanded trick like his attempt at taking Orchid and Snowbird hostage go past me ever again. I intend for us to see this through to the end— we will not lose to scum like them." With that, Kane opened the wagon for everyone to pile in. Arthur went in, looking just about ready to burn down the entire castle. Simeon went at the driver's seat; one might notice that his usual gruff expression is gloomy, not unseen in the current situation but strange for Simeon. Even Sid looked slightly concerned as he went in after Simeon. As Ferdiad, Lenore, and Lysander all piled in, Kane whispered thanks to them and a promise to take down the Icons of Sin. As Mim and Baldur piled in, Kane quietly assured them a bit further that they absolutely will take down the Icons of Sin, Death especially. As Shin piled in, Kane gave him a gentle pat on the shoulder, letting him know that all was going to be okay.
  22. Pinecone was weirded out by the feeling of the arrow digging into his arm. He had immediately and instinctively went to block it, which worked... but then he felt pain. He had felt pain before, but not like this. Pulling the arrow out of his arm without care for the fact that it was just making the bleeding worse, Pinecone drew his javelin and silently went on the offensive with his optimistic smile fading into obedient neutrality as he, like many times before, ignored his sister. He also seemingly barely noticed the helpful flute playing that seemed to slow the bleeding just a bit. Bend to E12, give sad healflute tweets to Pinecone Pinecone to B11, Guard+ Sting and any other adjacent party members, toss javelin at Pillager A.
  23. Oh, Pinecone did look very confused when Stardust yelled at him. Not upset, just very confused. He was following orders, wasn't he? These people looked ready to kill them and it was his objective to defend them by any means necessary! Besides, wouldn't stabbing them through the chest with a javelin also work as "scaring them off?" Before he could clarify, however, their own enemies clarified for him and that ant guy in the armor started trying to talk as well. Satisfied that they had things handled, Pinecone turned his attention back to his objective; getting everyone to their destination safely!
  24. Pinecone beams as he sees his javelin making its mark, having indeed completely ignored the marauder on his left as he did. He almost doesn't register the marauder practically yelling in his ear for a moment until he turns around and sees their fuming face. "My apologies! I can only hurl one javelin at a time, and it was the most beneficial action as it causes me to take the least amount of damage so that I may keep my strength up! But I assure you that you'll get your turn to fight me soon! I have lots of work to do, you see!"
