  1. "You are correct. Confidence and standing up for oneself is important in times like these. But I thank you... a reality check is something I greatly needed in this hour of battle. I'll make sure to show those who oppose us... who's flames are truly to be feared." Well, that last part sounded a lot cooler in Aidan's head.
  2. In that brief moment or three, Aidan felt Johan's gaze bearing deeply into his soul. In fact, despite trying to keep a straight face, he could not stop himself from sweating a tad, as he briefly considered the fact that he might actually get snapped in half. At least he knew he could stand his ground and at least show he was honest, for he did not plan to run away. But regardless, was this it? ...No, it was not, as Aidan found out from Johan's laughter. He stopped himself from breathing the deepest sigh of relief in history. "Haha... You're correct... Once more, going back to needing to learn from what hinders us. I will say, however, that you make an excellent intimidator. Gave me quite the fright. But thank you for that lesson; as I've said, social skills are something I quite unfortunately lack."
  3. "Ah- forgive me for my rudeness. I had meant it as a sign of respect, but it seems I still have a good amount to learn when around others and not busying myself with books. I did not mean to offend, Johan, and your displeasure is not unfounded."
  4. "It is an honor to meet you, Sir Johan. I hope that all of us may be able to take on Pax together. After all, one person can do many great things, but an army can have limitless possibilities when banding together."
  5. A slight sense of relief washed over Aidan, now able to introduce himself. He was not bothered by being called 'boy', but he appreciated being able to divulge his name without sounding rather awkward. "Ah, where are my manners? My name is Aidan Stavros, and as long as I continue my mission and as long as Pax continues to attempt to thwart us, I'm afraid they will have to keep coming for me. May I ask for your name as well?"
  6. "Haha... Yes, indeed. One can not properly strive to be able to be successful without learning how to overcome their faults as well. And you are absolutely correct; there is still so much I am still learning, but I have faith that this journey alone will teach me many great things. I do hope we may follow the same path; I believe there is a lot I could learn from you and the rest of the folk you came with... and you must tell me more about the skalds you have heard of sometime. That sort of magic is simply incredible to hear about."
  7. "If that's the case, then I do look forward to hearing your best someday when the time comes. And I assure you I am fine; I'm simply a bit jumpy at times when I get overly focused in something. There was a time in my life where this was a problem, actually; it used to take me much longer to get out of nervous fits when I was surprised. I knew I couldn't have that when I joined the army, so I learned to bounce quickly between subjects."
  8. Even when reading for just a few seconds, Aidan tended to get very invested in his books, whether they were novels or tomes. He had been poring over the basics for what seemed to be the hundredth time to make sure he had gotten it just right, when suddenly he jumped out of his stupor by a giant arm being put around him. He looked to see the source, and- ah, yes, he recognized him. He was the bard helping out in the battle. Looking a little bit nervous to talk to such a mountainous man after getting so caught up in a book, he attempted to speak with care, especially when in an iron-armed grip. "Ah, you must forgive me, I had been under the impression that everyone else was speaking. Perhaps that was rather careless of me... but you are absolutely right." Aidan closed his tome. Perhaps recreational reading would have to come another time. "...I'm thankful for this opportunity to speak; I never got to thank you for all you have done in that battle, sir, and now I may say thank you. Your music was truly amazing."
  9. It was an immense relief that Aidan's first couple of actual battles were finally over. The journey was already exhausting, but that didn't stop Aidan. For now, he decided to enjoy the tranquility for once. Clutching his Fire tome, he decided to pore over it. Having battled for a while had given him some new thoughts on how to utilize it in battle more effectively. Heading onto the deck, Aidan spotted a few people talking amongst each other. A twinge of guilt hit Aidan all of the sudden; he found himself feeling slightly regretful that he never got to properly thank the new ones for helping them on their mission. He tried to make it a thought in the back of his mind to thank them next time they were all together and had a chance to talk. Trying not to look at anyone for too much longer, not wanting to stare, Aidan sat down on a nearby little bench... well, it was more like a bunch of planks of wood stacked on top of each other to make a seating place for him, but it worked out just the same. Getting himself comfortable, he started to read over his tome in silence, the conversations among his peers in one ear and the sound of the waves in the other.
  10. Aidan moves to M-14, and casts Fire on the remaining Archer.
  11. Aidan moves to L12 and casts Fire on Marine A.
  12. Aidan joins the 9 squad and heads to J9.
  13. "Phew... That takes care of that..." Aidan gives a little bow as he finishes the last Marine, clutching his tome close to him. It seems that should earn them a short reprieve before they begin approaching the remaining Pax soldiers. He does, however, know that no job should go thankless, and looks towards all of the new companions that assisted in their victory. "Excuse me... I hope I am not overstepping my boundaries, but I do wish to thank you all. We may not be done with this battle, but afterwards I hope that I may be able to become a little more acquainted with you all, who aided us in our time of need. Thank you." Aidan gives a small bow to each of the new people in sight after his last words of thanks to them.
  14. "Allow me, Marl!" Aidan moves to J5 and casts Fire on Marine D.
  15. Aidan holds his position and casts Fire on the Spearfighter.
  16. Aidan casts Fire on Spearman C. If Spearman C is dead, hold position. Action still under consideration, considering vuln-ing Alwine or going for Mage
  17. "Alwine! Forgive me for my lateness, I have a Vulnerary for you!" Aidan moves to E7, uses a Vulnerary on Alwine.
  18. By the gods... This looks bad... Aidan moves to C5 and drinks a Vulnerary.
  19. "Curses... it seems a fight is our only way out! Get ready, everyone! I'm counting on all of you!" Aidan moves to D5 and casts Fire on Swordsman C.
  20. "Haha, well put, Marl." Aidan fishes his tome out of his bag and gives it to Marl. "We have a little time before we make it to where an enemy army may be laying in wait, so if this helps take off a little stress, go ahead."
  21. "I'll grab some rope from the wagon." Aidan headed back to the wagon... ...He then came back, holding the rope, starting to tie up Gerald. He wasn't that well built to restrain him, but he could tie a damn good tight knot. Checking his work, he looked to the rest of the group after hearing a bit of the conversation at hand. "Alwine is absolutely right." Aidan didn't hear any of her muttering due to being a bit of a ways away. "We may be a small group, but we took out that small force with little trouble, right? With a little bit of recovery, Marl hopefully will be fine, and if we need to fight, we can fight. I've been practicing a spell of mine to give myself a shield; I haven't perfected it, it doesn't always work, but I'm hoping it will give me an edge in being front lines if I need to be there. I can't hide behind Alwine forever, now can I? Let's do our best, everyone!"
