Sad to say you're gonna be waiting a minute for the Flash Cannon TM, as you get it from the Steel gym. Lucario is a mixed attacker anyways, so you could just run Meteor Mash in the meantime for the STAB typing.

If I were to list one mon that matches each animal you listed: Puma - Persian Toucan - Toucannon (who could've seen that coming) Tatú (which I found out is an armadillo) - Sandslash (either form works) Tapir - Musharna (more based on a youkai but it works) Jaguar - Liepard is the closest thing I can think of and that's not ideal. Absol could work and would be much better. Penguin - Empoleon Whale - Wailord Sea Wolf - Primarina Llama - Nothing I can think of that's actually a llama, but if you're okay woth stretching the definition there you could sub in a Camerupt. Read up on a bit of wildlife so here are some other suggestions: Lycanroc, Dodrio, Heatmor, Talonflame, Swellow, Sawsbuck, Ninetales, Manectric, Cinccino, Krookodile, Oricorio. Hopefully that gives you some good options!

Just meant that he would have had to defeat Pokemon of that level before. He should be able to get through Abra, though I doubt it will be without deaths. I know I thought he'd lose more.

Oh how nice that would have been... Maybe not, as he would have had to beat a Steelix and PULSE Abra of the same level before then.

One thing that speeds up grinding is to turn "Battle Scene" off, otherwise there's not much else to say. There is a clown you can rebattle to grind in the circus, but his teams can be tedious to fight and they are different every time you fight him. The best way to prevent stalling out is to grind up your so called "A-team" and a few, like 3 or 4, other mons you can rotate onto the team if need be. Just take every battle that comes your way after that, and you shouldn't need to grind much from here.
-
A strategy I saw was to only rotate the numbers horizontally via the bottom row, and using it to get every number where you want it to be. Make sure 5 is in the center of both screens, and follow the rules of the game from there.

Oh I don't have to go with 3D graphics? The gen 5 animated sprites are coming back for certain. Not so sure with the new stuff, but as for mechanics I think I would do away with Dynamax entirely. Bring back the existing Z-moves and make them available, and bring back all the Megas and make new ones. I would make sure at least a couple gyms are in Double Battle format. Also Triple and Rotation would come back. For brand new content, I'd have to think on it. I may come back to this.

Depends on how he interprets the rules of his nuzlocke. Personally I do mine as "any possible gift or static counts".

Any team suggestions heading into the sixth Gym Onwards?

In my experience Squirtle has shown up there while it was raining. -
Of course that's not really up to him, that's up to his luck... which by my observation means he's probably gonna get one. Hopefully he really has learned his lesson now and doesn't dismiss it as a "useless" mon like Wonga.

I really do hope he beats Shade, but man it will be tough. His STABs are powerful and his Mimikyu is an absolute beast if you don't have something geared to bring it down.

I for one can't wait to see the newly upgraded Brobarel.

So my current team I have been using since Titania looks like this: Typhlosion "Ignis"-- My boy has not once been taken off the team, despite times where I might should have. The Eruption spam is strong in this one, and I run Blaze because I find myself making use of it more than Flash Fire. He also has Flamethrower which does almost as much as a full HP Eruption when he's in Blaze. I switch between keeping Sunny Day and Double Team on him. Also Nature Power is dope. Meganium "Spinach" -- This big guy has been indispensable as a support. He's bulky with double screens (Light Clay ftw) and nukes hard with Leaf Storm. His last move is usually either Dragon Tail or Toxic depending on what I think is more useful at the time (currently Dragon Tail). Flygon "Phalnax" -- She's my sweeper, D-Dance with amazing STABs, like Dragon Rush and Earthquake, and great coverage is scary. She was great when I first got her and has never slowed down. Also she's Fixit's best friend. You don't want to Double Battle them. Rotom-W "Fixit" -- To think there was a time where I thought he wasn't gonna cut it. Then he 6-0'd a tough Meteor battle. And then he got Pain Split. So now he isn't gonna leave from here on. Discharge makes for a mean combo in a Double Battle with Phalanx. He may get a form change temorarily, but he's here to stay. Lucario "Sage" -- Super flexible mixed attacker, I can run him however I need to. Currently has a moveset with Swords Dance, Close Combat, Meteor Mash, and Psychic. He gets in, does his job, and either keeps doing it or gets out. He's currently waiting on his Lucarionite. Silvally "Apocrypha" -- This thing just does not die. Probably half the reason I had very little struggle with the Glass Gauntlet. Tailwind is way better on a mon with survivability in my experience. Multi-Attack is a given. Iron Head cause I can't see myself using Steel or Poison Memory very often. And the last move varies, but by default is Explosion. Silk Scarf almost guarantees me an OHKO on anything that doesn't resist it. In short, I love my false-god dog. I feel really confident that I can beat the game with this team going forward, hell I beat Amaria and Hardy first try. Let me know what you think!
-
No problem, now you know how to take advantage of it in your next run!
-
I'm pretty sure you get it right before Aya, in the Wasteland.
-
Honestly, if he makes it that far, a fast mon that learns Nature Power makes short work of her, especially if you stack Double Team and Lax Incense on it
-
Ya'll miss the part where he said he's gonna train Peanut now? It was at the very end, past the outro.
-
I think the series has been getting enough support to warrant him continuing the game even after he loses the locke, not to mention his obvious intrigue with the game so far.
-
Yeah I'm thinking Shade will probably be the one to finally do him in if he doesn't get some really good encounters between here and there.
-
You know half of it might be just trauma from my first run. I'll need to reexamine his box to take a guess, but if it's a current team member probably Kiki.

I wouldn't say Shelly is easy, especially when you don't have access to Fake Out. She has a ridiculous amount of coverage and a bunch of solid mons, and sound strategies that take most people who come in by surprise. I am a bit surprised he managed to win.
