  1. One big change is that Venam's gym battle is before going to Goldenwood and fighting the Rift Pokemon. So like Venam isn't having an absurd "Prove you are worthy test" while Melia is being chased by terrorists. All the rest, you'll have to play yourself. Have fun.
  2. Hello one and all! This is a place to post memes about Rejuvenation and more specifically V13 but memes about the plot and game in general are welcome. Here's the first one:
  3. While writing my next part of the V13 reviews, I'd like to take the time to appreciate the changes to the early game plot, such as changing when Venam's gym battle takes place so it isn't an absurd time waster and more of a friendship moment, and in general making Early Game Ren and Venam feel like more of a team instead of obstacles that you are supposed to care about. I also like that Nim is instead trying to cheer you up instead of stalling you. It makes her much more likeable and I say that as someone who likes her. And Chapter 3 is well, I won't get much into it, but holy shit, it's leagues better than the OG version. Also I like how Aelita is actively trying to help us with Keta instead of just passively letting us do all the work. Seriously, making the early game cast actually help us instead of nonsense battle and forcing us to do the work REALLY makes the difference. Serious kudos to the team for taking the time to iron out the plot even more than previous versions.
  4. Honestly, my guess is either evil Nymeria or Erin somehow given how the latter quotes Madame X's dialogue from the prologue during her path.
  5. One of my tactics against Mega Metagross, Bastidion, and Duraldon, was using my Rhyperior to OHKO them, after a stealth rock. See the wonder room also works against Saki since the defenses for her team are weaker against a physical attacker now. I gave my Rhyperior a Focus sash sure, it's just a chance of surviving, but it's better than nothing, and he's enough to faint the Metagross in one blow, and outspeed Bastidon and Duraldon. It's important to deal with these the last since Saki will just switch out the latter two if she sees my Rhyperior. Of course, remember the Basidon's crest, so if you have to faint Bastidon, make sure they are at full health. Like in one of my runs, Bastidon and Rhyperior fainted each other, and it counted as MY loss. I won in the end, but hell of a nasty surprise. Good luck.
  6. I have always said that if you replaced the Pokemon in this game with like superpowers you have to train to use, nothing much would change in the story. Like for example, Dragon Ball Z esque Ki martial arts. This is basically the Dev team's original fiction with the Pokemon brand. And I say this as both a compliment and a criticism if that makes sense. Yeah, super powered people who fill roles that belong to Pokemon, robots fighting, and people forgetting they have superpowered loyal pets in important scenes is a peeve I've come to accept in this game's plot. I do think that scene of Geara kicking us in the lava field despite us winning the fight is a severe narrative problem. Like it's basically telling you that Pokemon fights don't matter, and despite having super powered pets, humans can still over power you. Reborn at least keeps the Pokemon focus, Lin feels like a Pokemon villain, Madam X feels like she walked out of a Shonen martial arts anime. Hell, take a look at how Reborn and Rejuvenation handle their Big Bad previews: Even if you win against Solaris's Garchomp, you are still fundamentally at a disadvantage, he clearly has more Pokemon he can use, and both you and him know it, that's why he can end the fight like he won, since even aside from the fight, he still has the Pulse Pokemon endangering the dojo. He doesn't press his advantage at all and it at least feels like you got a minor victory. By contrast, Madam X pulls a laser out of her ass, and pretends that she still has the advantage despite not having any Pokemon. The scene undermines your victory and forces you to lose because the writers say so in contrast to Solaris's clear advantages even after losing his Garchomp. But we're already in too deep, this patch alone has crazy plot twists that don't really fit the Pokemon universe. Even though supposedly the canon games have happened in this game's universe. Like how is Giratina the embodiment of antimatter and sole occupant of it's own dimension AND a dead queen turned into an abomination and worshipped being of Goldenleaf?
  7. In certain text enter sections, such as when you rename Pokemon, the curser tends to jump a bit and move on it's own, as a result of certain actions, like backspacing. Like I delete part of the Pokemon's nickname at the end, and suddenly the cursor moves to the start of the name. Additionally sometimes, a small space is added to the Pokemon's nickname, and results in a minor spacing issue in text during battle. Is anyone else getting this or me?
  8. I was going to put this as part of my V13 review but here goes. When it comes to the Saki Fight, I personally think the biggest problem is the seeds. They remove the typing of both her Aggron and Bronzong and there's no indication they do this at all. This is a bad decision in terms of crafting a Pokemon challenge Yes, Pokemon Rejuvenation is by design meant to be stacked against you, with all the field effects and seeds that the opponent can use while you cant. Such as the Melia fight in this update where she has a magical seed for two of her Pokemon that is juiced up King's shield. This is a large amount of the appeal for most players of this game. And yes conquering the challenge and winning against an opponent with a huge advantage is a big reason why I enjoy this game. However the type less seed ability is a fundamental insult to Pokemon design. This is going from stacked deck but still fair against you to outright breaking the rules. Sure the fields are meant to give the leaders an advantage, and we sort of expect that when going to a gym. But a Gym battle is meant to test your understanding of the Pokemon's type, by turning TWO pokemon into not-steel types, it goes against what Pokemon is. Saki is meant to be the Steel type leader, and to make her even more of a challenge, two of her Pokemon are NOT Steel types. That's not Pokemon, the entire principle of Pokemon's battle system is built on type advantages and disadvantages, and something like two typeless fights just fundamentally isn't part of the rules set up by the game, this is the point where the game actively breaks it's own rules to give a challenge that isn't even fun. Hell any disadvantage for a typeless Pokemon is null and void since Bronzong and Aggron's death ray is still buffed by the field. Did I enjoy the fight? Yes(when I wasn't fighting those two), but typeless Pokemon are a fundamentally bad idea and goes against the spirit of the series and this game. Rejuvenation has always been about giving a challenge with unique rules such as the fields and special enemy only moves, but to turn a Steel Type Leader's Pokemon into a typeless fight is crossing some sort of line. It's basically admitting the Steel Type suck and turning them into something else and for a Steel Gym, that's just sad. Jan in a Q&A once said he regrets Gyms from a narrative point of view, and I sort of see where he's coming from since the plot has moved on from merely challenging the League, but now Gyms are becoming a sour spot in gameplay too. The Gyms have becoming increasingly unrelentingly difficult for the sake of it, and I guess it's because the devs want to challenge the Player's preconceptions to provide a engaging fight, but again, to make two of Saki's pokemon typeless is absurd and breaking the rules that Rejuvenation set for itself, to provide a challenge but by playing by the rules even with advantages like a field. There's a reason why most complaints involve the Gyms, and with 3 more left, the design philosophy is becoming unsustainable. I'm sure there's a way to keep the steel typing for both Aggron and Bronzong, otherwise, what's the point of making Saki the Steel type leader?
  9. Well it's been a while, but Flora did trust you enough to reveal her suspicions of Cassandra and even fought with you. Against her own incompetent grunts but still. I don't even like Flora but I'm trying to guess the rationale here. With Cassandra though, while we the Player know she's in Team Xen, our character has no way of knowing she's dirty.
  10. Yeah and the Dev team back in that Q&A confirmed that Flora had no intention of actually playing nice with us at all if we do side with her. If I had to guess, it's because the act of betrayal even to Flora means you are willing to betray at all. Including your friends.
  11. Shouldn't it be the other way around? I mean Flora is a dangerous terrorist and all that. The alternative is joining her, I don't think that's moral either.
  12. I've been told that if your karma is too low or your friends hate you, that you could side with Kieran and Clear in the big scene in V13? Is this true? Anyone else got this?
  13. NPCs only spend money when they lose to travelling trainers. Those NPCs must be loaded of they get to stay at the resort no matter how much time passes.
  14. A while back, I made a post about how cool it would be that Team Bladestar would be reformed after dethroning Flora, giving some sort of payoff to those players who chose to join and to address how messed up GDC is while dealing it the team in a more productive way. Neat coincidence that the Devs felt the same. Me personally I snitched but Florin said I was still a member temporarily. I guess it's because I went with Flora back in the caves.
  15. I have actually defeated Madam X's Yeveltal back in V12. But honestly, not much changes, Madam X just pulls out a laser and the scene plays out the same like you lost.
  16. This is a sign of how far Keta has fallen. Sheridan is a place of community and support, but the inn prices have shown the full extent of Keta selling out to capitalism and evil housing barons. Madelis's plan to melt Sheridan through volcanic eruption was her protesting Sheridan inn's lackluster services and absurd price inflation. Team Xen was truly justified.
  17. Hello forums, man it's been a while since V12 huh? And hot damn was this worth the wait, really there is a LOT to unpack and enjoy. So we begin with Alexandra explaining the plot such as the League being a sham(Which isn't really hard to guess.), who Celine actually is, and that we are actually bonded to a soul named Ardrest. I gotta say I'm pretty lucky I remembered most of the plot, because this is just a large exposition dump. But the biggest revelation here to me, was Nim's true nature as a time travelling amnesiac Nymeria I mean Storm 9. So after an introduction to Rejuvenation's version of a Dynamax fight, we also get exposition what Damian and Alex fought over Nim and how she got involved in the plot, then we also get an explanation for who Mom was. And she's some sort of spell like Kanon. And she's still alive in the black box, and apparently the Garufa weren't a tribe but a corporation. Also we have a mind palace and we really like Kenneth but whatever. Can you believe that this has FINALLY been explained after all these years? In fact, this entire update is mostly here to explain plot points that have been a mystery box since the game's development began, and luckily for most of us, they deliver answers in a very satisfactory way. Most of the time anyway. But we'll get there. So Alexandra and Damian realize the folly of relying on teenagers/young adults to fight a terrorist organization and volunteer to train and build team chemistry between us. (Even though they really should just teach us to restrain a bad guy after we beat them in a Pokemon match. Looking at you Geara.) And so it begins with a training match with Melia and us, and I for one am excited to use my team again after so long, and the field is a goddamn fairy tale field that benefits Melia's team and is stacked against mine. Oh Rejuvenation, I missed you. And after some frustration, Melia is defeated and we now begin the training. Gotta say this section demonstrates Rejuvenation's strengths in characters and chemistry, it's a joy to see our crew after so long, and this part really helps in selling that we are a team, even if we carry most of them. But I digress. Alexandra: And now everyone is trained and ready to go retrieve plot devices. MC: But I'm still lvl 85, if the League is a sham, couldn't you just give me the rest of the badges so I can FINALLY lvl up to max? Alexandra: And now everyone is trained and ready to go retrieve plot devices. MC: This entire update is going to be spent as a lvl 85 isn't it? Everyone: Don't worry, WE can go over the cap. But never you, in fact, the game will throw some lvl 89s at you because fuck you. MC: At least I have my herbs that can revive my team to max. Dev Team: Hahahaahaha. No. MC: Well at least me and Aelita are team leader. Aelita: Hahaahah, I'm the only one who can talk between the two of us. So to retrieve the next plot devices, we'll have to split up into groups, and this is actually a pretty smart writing move. It's a common complaint that Rejuvenation has TOO many plot points and characters so this allows the writers to give the limelight to certain characters, give them some time with other characters for development, AND address more plot points that have been sort of forgotten like Angie. For Erin and Kanon's section, I'm glad that it addressed certain complaints about Kanon's character because it just seemed for a long time, the writers had no idea what to do with him, at first he was some smug incel who was stalking Melia, was a traitor to the group, then revised to just be an incel but still on our side, then he's actually a literal slave born out of magic and V12 sort of treated it like it was a triumphant revelation for him and treated Huey like a joke for finding this disturbing. So it's good that Erin points out just how messed up his existence actually is, and even Kanon starts to agree. In fact, Erin and Kanon's interactions were pretty amusing in this section, you can tell the dev team put a lot of effort into this, with the new group talk function, Erin and Kanon's dynamic is pretty interesting, Erin's an abuse victim and longs for a purpose, finding it in supporting her friends and family, and Kanon's someone who is unable to think for himself and defines himself by his worth to others, to the point he refuses to think for himself and proclaims himself a lesser being. It's a nice contrast to Angie and her slaves. Unfortunately, this is where I have to start getting critical, Angie is honestly doesn't exude as much menace like she did the last time, not helped by the fact that she's contrasted by the wacky antics of her maids. It's been a while, but I don't remember her maids being so silly and comical. They were just coldly doing their jobs. (Pun intended.) Now the Maids are silly and barely motivated to do their jobs. Also doesn't help that the Regice rift is pretty anti-climatic, they are just easy fodder and an annoyance. This chapter has a pretty jarring tonal shifts, where it's either Angie menacing Erin and Kanon and the latter two barely surviving and learning more about each other, and Angie's past, or it's Erin playing straight man to Kanon and the Maid's antics. I had no idea what the team was going for here, it still mostly works but it's carried by Erin and Kanon's interactions. So one of the big twists of this chapter is that Erin and Kanon were both abused by Vitus, like that's one hell of a coincidence and honestly makes the world feel smaller. Hell apparently KANON is the FIRST CREATION by the first humans? That's just feels contrived and unneeded like connecting Erin to Melia by blood. The whole Theolia family drama doesn't really hook me and this chapter unfortunately doesn't do much to help. Like the whole Erin section remembers who she was just feels like a retread of the Melia and Marianiette plot points, of standing up to her dad and such. It feels like Erin is just a copy of Melia. I'm sure this was planned but honestly, not a well executed plot point, but this is just my opinion. We also learn that the Theolia family has even more dirty secrets when we learn that Anathea put a love spell on Vitus and THAT was the real reason he was temporarily reformed. Pretty fucked up. And Vitus was still evil enough to banish his children except Melia/Maria to another dimension. Honestly both parents are looking pretty terrible RN. Especially with asking their children to spy on the other. Who by the way are artificial avatars of the not-Triforce. Yeah there is a lot to unpack. Another important point to note, but Erin actually quotes the same lines Madam X did in the prologue when telling Maria not to forget, and Erin proclaims that if Vitus is God then she's the devil in the most dramatically edgy way possible. Presumably to give hints to who Madam X is. This is just weird to me because Vitus worships Arceus, or something, and never really boasted of being God himself in dialogue even in the scene where she's being locked away. Maybe the update changed the early game dialogue? I dunno, that bit of Erin's proclamation of being the devil just felt like it was trying to ape Persona 5 or Tales of Berseria and not working. It just feels forced. So at the end, Erin and Kanon defeat Angie and Cera (who luckily threw away her Groudon. Smart.) and rescue Alex and Damien. Then there's some weird shit of Vitus's ghost actually possessing Angie, paying off that easy to miss scene back in Terujuma, and then the two villains escape. Honestly, pretty scary thought of what Vitus does in Angie's body. Then the path ends with holes in reality being created. Stay tuned for the next part, and I hope you enjoy the update as well.
  18. Alright, defeated her for real this time. I'll just enjoy the ending.
  19. Update: I WON I KILLED HER PARTY WITH A SPED UP RHYPERIOR!!!!! And then the Bastiodion crest fainted it with it's crest. Fuck, that's just some bullshit. But there's always next round.
  20. Like there was a scene at the end of the flashback where your Player Avatar tells Crescent they love her and then knocks her off to save her from the Nihilego and getting turned to stone. That's after the journals BTW. And since we aren't really the Player Avatar, just some random soul the Player Avatar made a deal to merge with, this complicates things. And to be clear, I'm not talking about shipping characters, this is just wondering about the dynamic we have with Crescent now.
  21. Right, I actually need attract to set up my Blaziken, he could actually KO her entire team with. Can Shedinja wiper her team?
