Oh yeah I got that haha, I just liked the idea because I've had an easy time in the past by setting up boosts and then sweeping, this made it a lot more interesting. A rule I'm thinking of applying to some of my Mono runs if I ever start those up again!

Worked great! Wouldn't have made the Gauntlet without Piloswine. double battle was just set up Stealth Rocks, use Earthquake + Protect on Beedrill then finish them off with prio Ice Shard and Beedrill's speed, then Earthquake + Protect again, rinse n repeart until Beedrill faints then set up Hail, get Sandslash with Slush Rush in and keep it going. Felt a little cheesy haha but it was kind of cool. I've never really utilized Protect as much until now. And even with Fighting weakness he was able to deal with Weavile's Low Kick in the following battle, that bit really surprised me. Definitely my MVP for the Gauntlet and against Hardy, too. Stealth Rocks on that field is kind of silly. I considered trying out Aurora Veil but I couldn't make it work, felt like too much had to be set up and I couldn't think of a decent Pokemon to use for the set up while keeping Piloswine's moveset. Gotta do a shout to A Marowak too, carried a lot of early gyms for me and got very scary once Iron Head became available. Rock Head + Flare Blitz has been super strong. Gave him defensive EVs so he could take a few hits (248 HP/80 Atk/180 Sp.D) and it worked beautifully. And with Kecleon's Trick Room, wowza. Felt like I had a really nice team going, Piloswine could take a lot of Phys attacks and then Kecleon + Marowaks Sp.D to cover the Special attackers. This was honestly the most fun challenge run I've done so far ha. I really enjoyed it. I've never used any of the mons in my team before, except Seadra and Piloswine but I'd ofcourse always evolve them. Thought of trying out Togetic w/ Eviolite, too but I didn't want to train up a new Mon at that point lol. So genuinely thanks for the idea, was a blast. Been a while since I had to put this much thought into a run ha. How did you come up with Kecleon and the EVs for him btw? It worked absolutely amazing, like you wrote earlier he was incredible throughout the run. Those moments when you predict a normal or fighting move and use Shadow Sneak haha, or a quick Sucker Punch. Love Protean and Prio moves. Imagine him with Power-Up Punch! Against the rules though, ha. Amazing utility that Mon has to offer, it really is.

Fuck it, decided to bang it out before the surgery. Team I used for the Gauntlett: Macey - Beedrill (F) @ Beedrillite Ability: Swarm - X-Scissor - Acrobatics - Poison Jab - Protect Kara - Rotom (N) @ Light Clay Ability: Levitate - Hex - Discharge - Will-o-Whisp - Light Screen/Reflect Cammy - Kecleon (F) @ Assault Vest Ability: Protean - Shadow SNeak - Drain Punch - Fire Punch - Sucker Punch Pua - Piloswine (F) @ Eviolite Ability: Snow Cloak - Stealth Rock - Ice Shard - Earthquake - Toxic / Hail Storm - Alolan Sandslash (F) @ Life Orb/Chople Berry Ability: Slush Rush - Stone Edge - Icicle Crash - Iron Head - Protect Haley - Alolan Marowak (F) @ Thick Club Ability: Rock Head - Flare Blitz - Bonemarang - Will-O-Wisp - Shadow Bone Was tough man, took me a while to get through it. Solaris wasn't as hard as I expected, Stealth Rocks does a lot of work (especially vs Focus Sash users) + Hail Slush Rush combo took care of his Garchomp with no problem. I tried to keep my team different to yours but Kecleon and Rotom are just so good, I've no idea who would be able to replace them. I'm swapping Haley out for my Seadra for Hardy. Kira - Seadra (F) @ Scope Lens Ability: Sniper - Brine - Scakd - Dragon Pulse - Aurora Beam Might make use of my Quagsire, too. Blue - Quagsire (M) @ Leftovers Ability: Water Absorb - Waterfall - Earthquake - Recover - Hail Putting Brick Break on Storm for Hardy, too. If sweeping with Slush Rush is too easy I might try to figure out something else. Don't expect Hardy to be too troublesome. Yeah, Hardy's done. Quagsire, Piloswine, A.Sandslash, Kecleon, Seadra and Rotom took care of him with no problems lol. This has honestly been a super fun run, a brilliant idea for a challenge run! Was getting kinda stuck (bored) with my monotypes, but this was incredibly fun. Thanks for the run!

Got a surgery coming up so will be a bit before I finish up, but when I do I'll post it for sure. Fair play, good luck with your studies!
-
Ayy congrats on finishing! I'm almost done myself, just about to do the factory gauntlet. Any plans for a different kind of challenge run?
-
Ahhhh! That's pretty interesting. Good luck!
-
For us plebians out here, what exactly is a Squadlocke run?
-
And therein lies the problem. I did not know he was part of that. Thank you!

I'm missing a move tutor in 7th street on a new play through. I've just beaten Adrienn so afaik he should be there. It's the guy who teaches the following moves: Knock Off Iron Head Signal Beam Giga Drain Aqua Tail Thanks.

I would actually suggest you keep Meowstic over Starmie. Look into Sharpedo who is a pretty great Mon on it's own and works really well with Blaziken. Now you have your Water type weakness covered and you have another great sweeper alongside Blaziken. Defensive Mons, especially ones that have Prankster and has access to Screens, are amazing. They allow you to setup for your sweepers and allow for much safer swaps during battles. Definitely disagree with the previous poster, defensive Mons can be very strong and incredibly useful. As mentioned before, a Steel-type would be really good to cover a Fighting weakness. Blaziken, Sharpedo, Ampharos, Meowstic, Nidoqueen - And a Steel-type is a pretty solid team. Mawile is pretty cool and your Blaziken + Sharpedo covers it's Fire weakness. + Fairy coverage is alright. Aggron is a solid pick, too. Who did you get from the Mystery Egg?
-
Can't even imagine the rollercoaster of emotions that must have been finally winning to realize you forgot to record, ouch. Haha. I'm at Adrienn myself so I'll wait with watching your replay until I've beat him. I'm actually a little excited to get started with him hearing how difficult you found him! Ah, got through Adrienn finally. Worst part was honestly the flinches from the Rock Slides, lol.
-
Nice! Who do you plan on using for your mega-Z ring or are you not planning to use it at all? I was thinking Mawile or Beedrill myself,
-
I do have a shiny one I'm not using with decent IVs if you want.
-
Yeah Greninja with Extrasensory and a strong Water move would probably do solid work for you. Or a Sandslash/Dugtrio with Dig would likely do better against Aya, I think. Keeping Fake Out as a move on Meowstic is also really strong. Let's you set up your status effects on turn 1 without taking too much damage; or let's you set up moves like Swords Dance if you use Sandslash, for example. Would be a strong set-up for a clean sweep with Dig. And you can swap him in and out throughout the battle to use Fake Out again if needed. I'd probably go for Light Screens seeing as most of her team consists of SpA moves and if you do plan on using status effects on Toxapex, you're going to want to leave him alone until the end so Light Screen will help out with making Toxapex even less of a threat throughout the battle.
-
Alternatives can be Venomoth with Stun Spore, who also learns Psychic moves and has excellent speed. Or a Togedemaru with Nuzzle from the Power Plant. Toxapex really isn't your biggest problem with Aya, it shouldn't be at least and using status effects will help you a great deal, it isn't required but it makes it easier. Male Meowstic learns both Light Screen and Reflect at level 34. What team are you looking to use exactly?
-
Meowstic has access to Light Screen and Reflect which are amazing tools, especially in Reborn. And fighting Aya is no different. You need to consider using defensive moves, not just offensive ones. Status effects are amazingly strong. Teach your Ampharos Thunder Wave, use it on Toxapex and simply ignore it. Focus your energy on the same Mon. Nidoqueen can be OHKO very easily as you have access to very strong Ground-type Mons as well as moves at this point, there's also strong Psychic types available to you. You have access to Xatu, A. Raichu, Medicham, Meowstic, Malamar with Contrary is incredible, Swoobat- All of whom are better choices than Gothitelle, for sure. There's also A. Marowak with Thick Club from the Byxbysion Tunnels, Bonemerang is going to do work for you. Dugtrio, Sandslash, too. Your movesets are looking all over the place with a lot of duplicates and all offensive moves. She's not too difficult once you figure out double battles. Focus on the same Mon, find their weak ones and use status effects to neutralize them. Going pure offense tends to make things harder for you. GL!

Brilliant, thanks for the sprite! Seadra is available after Luna, that would be a solid pick up. Bringing Quagsire, bred Recover for it. Will get Seadra when I can for the speed. Thanks for the suggestions.
-
Seems easier to trade if you're up for it. Would you like the Larvitar for it?
-
Ahhh. That makes it kinda too late for me, ha. Do you have another Poipole/Naganadel with good IVs? I have a 6 IV Shiny Larvitar I could trade in return.
-
It's surprisingly.. underwhelming. Kinda easy. One-shot every gym except Shelly and Noell. But it's fun using all new Mons. Never used A. Marowak, Togedemaru or A. Sandslash before. Bred myself a Rock Head Marowak and it is a beast with Flare Blitz! Got Gastly from mystery egg and I can use Haunter as long as I don't evolve it into Gengar and he absolutely destroyed Shade for me lol. Currently leveling up a Piloswine for the future with Thick Fat. Did some breeding and got a pretty awesome shiny Thinking he could be a strong user for Eviolite! Picked up a Mawile, thinking it might be useful against Luna. But I'm looking for a water Mon to use. Picked up Corsola whom I've never used before so I've no idea how to, will have to look into it. Any surggestions for Corsola or other Water Mons available to us? Oh, btw. I love your Kecleon sprite! I did pick one up, not sure if I want to use him for this run - I don't want to copy what you're doing too much lol - but would you be willing to share the sprite? It's awesome!
-
Sorry if I'm hijacking the thread but I'm just curious. How do you get a good IV Naganadel if you can't breed it? Mine's not super great lol.
-
Surprised to see Salandit was under 450, that's a nice addition. Nice work with Terra. Did you have a plan for the Garchomp or were you just hoping for that bit of RNG at the end? Just got past Noel myself. A. Marowak is doing work for me. Rock Head and Flare Blitz is amazing!
-
To add onto the already good advice given.. You can find an Inkay out in the wastelands and evolve it into a Malamar who will do very solid work for you in this gym. And many future gyms for that matter. Contrary Malamar is a beast.
-
Nice one. You're making it look a little easy, ha. Didn't even need Sturdy to live through the Hawlucha, a little surprising.
