  1. Well congrats for beating Swalot then yeah it's normal to struggle here. Game really starts to get hard. If you have no problem with Fern/Blake, which is where most people have trouble, then you could change your starting mon to prepare more for Solaris/John. If the wiki is right, their leads are Scizor/Whishcash. If flobot takes care of whishcash, can't you lead with noivern or arcanine to deal with scizor? Then at this point, id say the best bet is to try a few times to see who is dead weight on your team, then replace it. See who can deal with his late mons (whats your answer to chomp?) and try to keep that mon healthy during the fight. Maybe see if you can have a way to focus down John, while Solaris is stuck using a non-threatening mon.
  2. According to the pokemon location guide you can fish a Finneon between levels 45 and 60 in the Ametrine or Celestinine mountain. He learns Soak at level 54 (dont evolve him yet or you have to wait lv 66), IMHO it's the biggest change you can make with a single move in this fight. Then just evolve him and he should outspeed, or give him a quick claw and reset. edit : with the old rod only
  3. Swalot is really made to be a self sustainable wall. There's a lot of ways to make the fight easier, not all of them are necessary to beat him : - Get rid of the field : either Blizzard (as mentioned) or Whirlpool (which will still be a water field) - Get rid of his item with Trick, Covet or Knock Off - Soak gets rid of his Poison typing, and he will start getting damage from both his item and from the field - Worry Seed gets rid of his ability (dont do it if you get rid of his typing) - Lower his stats. He only uses special attacks, so Infestation will do wonders - PP stall him yourself. Steel and Ground mons can protect themselves well against him. - Setup. If you can't kill him with enough Psychics/Tbolts before he heals, try being at +2/+4 before attacking. - It's only one mon', so Leech Seed, Attract, Confuse ray...hell, even Perish Song..can cheese him In my runs I mostly used stat lowering/setting up on him.
  4. So this was becoming quite long and I think hard for you guys (you-you are reading right? ) to scroll down and figure out where the post is, so i spoilered each fight to make it easier. And now, back to Poison Gym! Corey (cont.) Third attempt Fourth attempt Fifth attempt Sixth attempt
  5. No idea how joiplay works with this... If you have issues with this specific puzzle then maybe switch to PC, do the puzzle, then come back to joiplay? You can use https://www.rebornevo.com/pr/save/ to check what to do, I guess you can find the .rxdata file somewhere on your phone.
  6. Magikarp (at level 20) and Torchic will carry you pretty far, you'll have to defeat Julia though, then it's gonna be pretty chill. Kricketot is great for early game. Good choice. Roselia (Budew evolved) is pretty good early game, do keep in mind that he will eventually fall off since Shiny Stones are hard to get by, so it wont be a Roserade for a long time. But you have time for that. Zigzagoon is fine, a pickup mon is ok. Don't expect him to carry you in battles, but he wont be dead weight early on Your team is fine If I would make a "pokemon crash learning course" I would order it this way - Type chart - Knowing the typings of pokemon (basically, as soon as you see a pokemon, you should know which moves are super effective or not. that includes knowing who has levitate/water absorb/etc) - Knowing roughly the stats and of pokemon (basically, knowing that its a bad idea to use special attacks on chansey, that the opponent electrode has a good chance of outspeeding you, making educated guesses about if your attack kills or not, same for the opponent) - Knowing about viable sets (this can be done by research tbh...for example what the above user said about gyarados being great with DDance. no need to do it all in one setting, just look up pokemon when you have questions) If you already have that then i'd say you are already set for playing Reborn. Sure, you'll fail at some bosses, and you will need to try again in order to get the hang of terrain shenanigans...but that's the point of the game.
  7. Chapter 3 With Chapter 3, I don't get specific tools for now. I did get TMs for Substitute, Facade and Attract at the Casino. I also forgot, but there's quite a few held items I can get by catching mons and finding on the road : Misc : Big Root, Bright Powder, Mental Herb Recovery : Black Sludge Type bonus : Black Belt, Silk Scarf, Sharp Beak, Miracle Seed, Silver Powder Taka Taka and ZEL
  8. The daycare is available! I will be able to use egg moves, as long as one of the parents can learn said move (so I can't use yet an egg move if a parent learns the move at level 50) Basic berries are also available : Oran, and the main status berries. Florinia
  9. I agree that Swoobat should switch to Simple, if you want to keep him. He really starts falling off with Unaware. Simple also works with the chess field. I'm also not a great fan of Mawile, his mega stone is not available until much later in the game, and the item that goes with Sheer Force (Life Orb) as well. If you finish the route 1 honey quest, you get Heracross or Pinsir, who both help a lot here. Who is the issue in Radomus' team? Is it the early turns or more surviving the late fight?
  10. Chapter 2 Aight, let's get this rollin'. We get our first Double battle, so I figured i'd give it a shot. Thing is, with our levels, the fight will be easy. So i'll try with the worst possible team first. Scrafty Gang ZEL : PULSE Tangrowth
  11. Early game Ok, so early game is pretty easy until Julia. I didn't do the challenge for the Fern fight or Aster/Eclipse. I also probably won't do it for the next fights in chapter 2, but starting for chapter 3 I will include rivals. I think I will include all named Meteor fights from now on as well. Items : - It's possible to have Quick Claws through wild Meowths. So far, they're the only real useful held item available. Julia
  12. Hey guys! I'll be doing a special challenge run, i will use this topic as my journal. Hope you like it The concept : - My goal is to beat this game without using strong pokemon to blaze through fights. By episode 18, we have all pokemon at our disposal....yet I can't remember on a casual run the last time i didn't use a top tier mon, even for HM slaving. So this run, I want to see how "bad" the pokemon I'm using can get. The criteria for "bad" will be the stats of the pokemon i'm using, the BST if we want to use the proper term. Abusing typings and field effects will be key here. The rules : - I will give myself access to all pokemon (through debug). - For each major fight (basically every named fight except very easy fights), I will replay the fights over and over with worse pokemons. - The goal is to use the lowest team in terms of BST that can still win. The Maximum BST in my team will be the BST that I track. This means if i use a Dragonite and five early game bugs, it doesnt count, since there's a 600 BST pseudo legendary. Therefore, I'm supposed to have a party of equally low stats pokemon - I will use items, moves and facilities I am supposed to have at the time of the fight. IV/EV training are available from start, they just take time. - If i change forms during a battle, the BST must be updated if needed. This mostly is about the megas and Ditto. - No items during battle - Set mode Banned : - Pure Power, Huge Power and Fur Coat are banned. They're basically hidden stats. - Shedinja is banned. He's way too good for his very low BST, and can still cheese endgame fights. - Smeargle is banned. He is also too good considering his move access. BST trivia - All BST are available here (sort by Total) : https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/List_of_Pokémon_by_base_stats_(Generation_VII) - The worst BST is Sunkern, with 180. (technically it's wishiwashi solo, but as soon as he transforms he's not anymore) - The first tier of pseudo legendaries (Dratini, Larvitar...) is 300. Their evolutions are at 420, and the final stage at 600. - Starter mons are around 300-320, their evolutions are around 410, and final stage around 530. - Lowest Mega is Mega Sableye, at 480. - Eevelutions are at 525 - Highest currently available mon is Slaking (lol) at 670. With Megas, it's Mega Garchomp at 700. Summary Julia - 198 - Ralts/Sunkern/Kricketot/Weedle/Caterpie/Wrumple Scrafty Gang - 195 - Sunkern/Kricketot/Weedle/Cterpie/Wrumple/Azurill PULSE Tangrowth - 198 - Ralts/Sunkern/Kricketot/Weedle/Azurill/Wrumple Fiorina - 210 - Cascoon/Azurill/Wooper/Kricketot/Magikarp/Feebas Taka - 198 - Weedle/Caterpie/Kricketot/Azurill/Sunkern/Ralts Taka & ZEL - 198 - Weedle/Caterpie/Kricketot/Azurill/Sunkern/Ralts Wild Klinklang - 198 - Weedle/Caterpie/Kricketot/Azurill/Sunkern/Ralts Corey - 215 - Tyrogue/Pichu/Sunkern/Sentret/Wooper/Ralts (posting discontinuited, no one seems to care . still doing the challenge tho) Wild Scolipede Gang - 198 - Weedle/Caterpie/Kricketot/Azurill/Sunkern/Ralts Aster & Eclipse - 198 - Weedle/Caterpie/Kricketot/Azurill/Sunkern/Ralts Victoria - 198 - Weedle/Caterpie/Kricketot/Azurill/Sunkern/Ralts Shelly - 245 - Makuhita/Poochyena/Noibat/Zubat/Starly/Ralts I think it will be pretty fun and challenging. If you see something I don't about a fight, or if you just want to chime in, feel free ^^
  13. Hey everyone! I figured i would create an account for my future runs. So....I am a twenty something French guy who, like most of us i guess, fell in love with Pokemon when I was a kid. I got Blue on my birthday, and the rest is history. I don't really remember how I came to learn about Reborn, but I actually downloaded it for the first time about four years ago. I think it was Ep16 back then, i could be wrong. I played until Julia, then stopped for two reasons : - Back then, I didn't want a fangame to change too much the rules of the game, cause I knew them by heart by now, and it would confuse me when playing the main games again. - My computer was a mess, and couldnt run Reborn without turning into an oven. Both of these issues were "solved", meaning I quit trusting GF with making interesting and balanced products, so my attention came back to fangames. On a totally different matter, i just happened to buy a new great laptop. So I downloaded again Reborn a month ago. I just finished Episode 18, i still have some breeding to do, but all content is done. And what a great game! I mostly came for the gameplay, the limitations on pokemon level and the tough boss teams meant the game would be exciting every step of the way. And the way the game gives you progressively better mons means you can't just grab a killer mon and destroy everything. Terrains are pretty great too, we have to think differently than in normal pokemon to use them effectively. The story was surprisingly good...it's really everything i wanted without knowing : multiple interesting characters, branching plot lines, darker themes...I can't wait to see what happens to them in E19. So...while waiting for E19..I have multiple ideas for challenge runs I want to do here. There's lots of threads about monotypes, I think that could be cool. I have some other ideas as well. Anyways Hello everyone and nice to meet you
