The image sums up my problem. It won't start without the patch and it won't with the patch. I've followed the instructions to patch it to no avail...

Does the shiny rate effect the odds of getting a shiny when obtaining from someone else? I got a shiny charm, which supposedly reduces the encounter rate of 1/100 to 1/33, however it seems like quite the tedious process when it comes to SRing for shinies. I attempted this for Growlithe, and eventually got impatient ( sorry I'm not entirely cut out for shiny hunting in the long term; the only incident where I got lucky doing this very process was with Suicune back in ORAS at 5 - 10+ SRs ). Right now I'm at 30 or so counts with Houndour and no luck so far.
