Tses you do know that you can use a second Pokémon now, right? Because it sounds like you've given up the match.

I thought to see Bfroger's post first and then post. Is it okey that way?

My point was that a Pokemon with Trace/Analytic/Download still takes damage from ground-type moves, which means that to some extent it's still grounded. To not take damage you'd have to have Levitate, so I assumed that to not get wet from the ice melting or to not get hit by the Discharge's field effect you'd also have to have Levitate.

Here, let me go find what Chim and us were talking about...

Ah Jory... you forgot that Java's species floats, he has no contact with the ground at all... like ever. (Remember how he was keeping an aerial view alongside erce during the search?) It;s both in the games and the anime that the Porygon Line levitates (not like the ability, but you get what I mean...) Ergo, he isn't in contact with the Ice Field itself but is hovering above it.

That's the only reason why Mareek even ordered that Discharge like that instead of having him just lock onto Chalchi, he was taking advantage of the fact that his team member has no physical contact to the earth or the conductor that's coating it.

Tell me how earthquake still hits them, perhaps if he uses Magnet Rise on a constant basis.....

It's Gamefreak logic... don't try to make sense of it. It's not worth it, trust me.

But it's not like I'm pulling this whole "hovering" thing out of my keister, I've literally been writing Java as moving around that way since Mareek first got him on day 2 of school back in Chapter 1. And there was foreshadowing that he was anticipating this ice field tactic being used in his thoughts for this.

If you want some kind of logic: the energy released within the earthquake (and other ground type moves) still affect Pokémon that hover around but not have the levitate ability.

Yeah, let's just go with that for that question concerning EQ...

Hmm,i believe Earthquake and such type moves are a result of seismic waves.....so the seismic waves are similar to supersonic but their performed on the ground where Pokemon without levitate are barely hovering over....got it.

Chimchain said that the logic behind it is that Ground type moves exert energy which can hit Pokemon that Hover, but not pokemon with the ability Levitate. so technically even though Java isn't on the ground, he can still be hit by Ground Type moves. But for the electrocution situation, he'd would have to have direct contact with the conductor, which is the ice covered ground in this case, and as he doesn't actually have contact to the ground due to hovering, he is safe from his own attack using Discharge on the field.

I'm intending to just lose from the next attack that Spitfyre launches.

And Chimchain didn't say anything against it when I brought it up, so... and I'm not just making it up on the spot or using BS science or logic like Slade was; it's been written over and over and over again and demonstrated numerous times in several situations before this, and has some evidence both in game appearances and in the anime that it's main method of moving of Hovering a bit off the ground.

But enough, it doesn't matter, like I said before, I don't care about winning when I Roleplay Pokemon battles. There's character development that can come out of this for both parties involved, so I personally have no issue.

Hey, I just thought of something:

Why_not have a bit of a rivalry start between Java and Spitfire at some point, like Erce is someday going to have with Lance? just an interesting thought...

Spitfyre actually sees Teo as his rival because he's still sore about losing to Teo when they first met. Additionally, Spitfyre wouldn't see Java as his rival as there's no real interaction between the two outside of that one battle. Spitfyre's driving force in the rivalries he develops is a kind of "power jealousy" in that he'll only see someone as his rival if he loses to them the first time they meet because then he has something to prove to himself. Similar to how Spitfyre joined Jacob to become stronger and not out of any real affection for his to-be-Trainer (although he develops it), he sees a Pokemon who he can become stronger by defeating as a rival.

K_H and Azery since you two don't post much I'm going to remind you: If you don't post within 24 hours you will be replaced by DarkLight or ExLink for this battle. At this point in the story I'm not willing to wait for people that barely update / ignore it when I try to start events.

Wait... Of the OC's I know are left, we've got Robert, Danielle, Claude and Slade. Am I missing anyone (apart from NPC's like Lana)?

Nope, you got them all. I double checked the list.

So... do we hit it off and start battling right away?

I think you could start battling right away. The others did the same once the names were announced.
