Veterans Azeria Posted March 26, 2015 Veterans Share Posted March 26, 2015 At this Point I'll probably go with Gengarite, works well with James and having a demon erupting from the earth evolved from a Bitter Thief seems fitting in a way lol
Chevaleresse
Still not sure whether to evolve Lucas into a Gardevoir or Gallade. Having a Gardevoir would balance the team out a bit more, but either would work RP-wise.

I swear if you don't take Gallade, I will instantly change Machamp into a Gallade because it can do everything I need Machamp to and much more. Commander
Jory, just to clarify, one of the blasts destroyed the platform Rogue was going to land on, and the other blast was supposed to hit her? If I read it right, he's trying to smash you straight into the water. Destroying the platform was to kind of prevent Rogue from escaping. I probably would've been a bit confused if it weren't for that strategy name. Speaking of Heracross, it knowing Focus Blast made me go WTF until I saw Hera's special attack. Not much stronger than a Karate chop TBH.
Sutoratosu
so, I finsihed reworking things for the party members of the first year. Here's the roles and everything: -The Wind Caller, The Guardian ERCE -Intelligent, highly loyal, and a Master of Winds and possessing the strength to crush steel, Erce is the first and the oldest of Mareek's companions, as well as his unofficial warden and closest friend in the world. She earns her title of the "The Wind Caller" from her signature techniques of altering and manipulating air currents and tempests in battle, as well as her ability to ride the wind as if she could fly. Naturally she is the lead and Ace of the team, as well as the sole consideration for Mega Evolution given her bond with Mareek already being strong as can be and their long history. Out of all the members of the group, she is the sole one who will never be rotated out of the active party. Her trainer and all those who have chosen to join him over time are like family to her, and if you try to harm any of them, she will find you, and she will fight fiercely to the bitter end to protect them if needed- Especially so for the boy himself. She is and forever will be the boy's guardian. Theme: - The Strategist, Mareek's Right-Hand man JAVA -Ingenius, Well Spoken, and often a bit comical, Java serves as the brains of the team and Mareek's trusted Collaborator when it comes to matters of drafting new battle strategy or general problem solving, as well as serving as an interpreter and a translator for his trainer when needed. He's got a very strong fondness of all things regarding the internet, and though it is not too terribly often that he takes to the field of battle himself, he utilizes a combat approach of frustration and Attrition, combining his speed with restorative moves while gradually lashing out against the foe with attack after attack while recovering any damage done onto himself and thus rendering the foe's efforts for naught. He is notorious for lurking around inside Mareek's pokedex or other electronic devices on his person instead of being in his capsule, and as such it's not surprising that the Strategist is with him almost everywhere he goes regardless of whether his trainer carries his capsule with him or not. While he generally acts like a manager of sorts for Mareek's companions and keeps things in order, he can seem to be a bit... distant at times. He is and forever will be Mareek's right hand man, and his loyalty is unquestionable. Theme: -The Agent, Mareek's Left-Hand man NEMO -Passionate, Bold, and a Ferocious Sword Master in his own right, Nemo is a warrior who swore his loyalty to Mareek and Erce and Java after being taken in by all of them as a boy and raised by their teachings and guidance into an individual his late mother would be pride of. His initial seemingly lonely and overall aloof appearance actually cloaks an incredible perceptive mind who can read others like a book, as well as an individual who isn't afraid to talk or socialize. But he's just as quick to be secretive and deceitful if he feels doing so is necessary to defend those he cares for. Out of all his companions, his fighting spirit and resolve on the battlefield blazes the fiercest, and he may seem small in stature, but Don't be fooled; In terms of raw physical Strength he could easily outpower every other member on the team, even Jeor and Erce. He values efficiency in combat, seeking to destroy the opponent through whatever means necessary, and If his sword skills and might alone are not enough to take out the opposition, he'll have no issue resorting to Poison's sweet kiss... whereas Java is his right, Nemo is Mareek's left hand man and his loyalty is just as unquestionable. Theme: - The Arctic Knight BRIENNE Stoic, Honorbound, and prideful. An icy she-warrior whom was aided by Erce and Mareek one day, and on her honor, swore to join them until she could someday repay the favor, though she ultimately decided to remain even after her debt was repaid. In battle she wields her bladed wings in a fashion reminiscent of sword and shield, transitioning seamlessly between offense and defense while bringing down the chilling barrage of winter upon her foes all the while. Those who give her proper respect will find she gives them it in turn, and she does not break her word... ever. For all her honor and pride though, she can nonetheless be a bit socially awkward at times. Theme: - The Wintry Glint SON JEOR -By far the youngest of Mareek's companions, but also his closest aside from Erce herself. Son Jeor was hatched and raised up from a mere bergmite by the boy, and has known his fellow companions for literally the entirety of his young life. Though it at first seemed as though he'd remain a small and weak Bergmite forever, he found it in himself to evolve in order to defend Mareek. Seen and regarded as still a mere child by many on the team, he is often given special treatment by the others and looked after by the group- though he's more than proven that he can already hold his own through thick and thin. In battle, Jeor acts like a virtual tank, waging a war of merciless, fast-paced attrition, taking blow after blow from opponents while retaliating with as much or even more force, all the while moving about the field quicker than one might expect and recovering his own stamina while the foe quickly falls from counter attack after counter attack. There is but one person in the world he will ever truly listen to- Mareek himself. Those who speak ill of his papa will find the mammoth ice type does not take all too fondly to them. AT ALL. He tends to let his Papa ride atop his back at high speed via reducing drag while traversing both rough and soft terrain. Theme: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zdMKVbQhwnY -The Good Doctor DR.SWISS -Friendly, outgoing, and highly intelligent. dedicated to bringing peace and healing, Swiss serves as the medical personnel for the team, healing any wounds sustained during battle or training, or other circumstances if needed, and tending to the team's overall health with an ever watchful eye. He's a strong habit of releasing the scents of his petals whenever he senses a strong conflict nearby, and He is often even more well spoken as Java, allowing him to serve as a powerful mediator and arbitrator when necessary. Though rare, when personally engaged in battle himself and not simply sitting on the sidelines ready to provide medical aid, Swiss highly prefers a depersonalized style of combat, using attacks that allow to keep afar instead of getting face to face with his foe; all the while relying more on a policy of self-defense and trying to keep up his own defenses and intercept as many attacks as possible rather than engage in a ruthless offensive charge. Much like Son Jeor, he has absolutely no qualms at all about allowing Mareek to use him as a mount when necessary, though he tends to function better on softer terrain, unlike the young ice type, who can easily handle both. Theme: There's something ominously fitting about Java's theme...perhaps it's the dub step, or the part about having lost one's mind... Basic Gist: Erce acts in the role of the Sworn Guardian for Mareek, much like Mars serves as one for Alexandra. She'll be the one always by his side and always keeping an eye out, just like her old mentor with his own ward. She also acts in the capacity of the restraining force and the moral compass, keeping the boy from doing things in certain matters where he absolutely loses his shit and gives into the hate. Java acts kinda in the same role as Miller from MGS- a deputy commander who helps keep shit together and run the place. Nemo acts in the role of your stereotypical government spy/ ninja/ Whisperer, occasionally wondering off of his own accord when he feels something needs to be investigated or examined and gathering intel Brienne acts in the role of an allusion to Brienne of Tarth from Game of Thrones, and is Erce's "Sworn Sword" of sorts, basically a back-up gaurdian (IE, Erce's right hand). Son Jeor's name is an allusion to Son Goku and to Lord Commander Jeor Mormont from Game of Thrones, and he acts in the role of the tank and the last resort/ the last hope of survival. His relationship with Mareek will be one of a reflectively ironic nature of parent and child, and he will ultimately come to mimic his papa, reflecting the facade Mareek puts on to face the world, while at the same time reflecting what is in his inner heart beneath it all. And the Good Doctor Swiss will act as the mediator and the medical professional whose not too terribly adapt at offense and is better with words than fist. Basically he's like Huey from MGS, just with a medical skill set instead of a tech one. EDIT: speaking of Swiss, I'm considering kicking Florges clear off the overall roster since the roles have changed, but I honestly don't know what to replace her with... though, I'm a bit tempted to say YOLO and go with Steelix for her slot... or maybe Klingklang... Klingklang seems a bit interesting...
Commander
I already know this is gonna be an absolute no, but probably my best recommendation to replace Florges is with Mr. Mime. Fairy types are really lacking and he seems to be one of the few that can really help up that defensive side of you're team. You also don't have a Psychic or Fairy type from what I saw so it'd be killing two birds with one stone in this case.

Wait a minute... yes I do: -Delphi This one right here.just saving her for year 2. She's just not meant for defense, but instead for speed and evasive maneuvering. Plus she'll likely be running a fairy type move in the final set, so... anyways... Mr.Mime is a maybe... a big MAYBE, encase hell happens to freeze over and the distortion world fills with ice and fairy types, but I might go for another steel type just to bring the count up to three and continue the ongoing metaphor with the character's development (It should be pretty obvious what it is)... thinking of a toss up between either Bronzong, Steelix, Bastidon, Probopass, or Aggron... though I'm honestly looking a little more at Probopass and Bronzong because of the spec. defense stat EDIT: God damn it... now Mr.Mime is starting to grow on me the more I think about it...I don't know, maybe...maybe... but I still want another steel...XD EDIT2: Or hell... maybe what I might do is this: Swap out Florgess for another steel type, but change Magmortar into a Delphox and keep the same nickname... yeah, think I'll go that route... because Melisandre and the theme I'm gunning for there goes better with and makes more sense with a Delphox anyway. AND Delphox can see the future... yeah, makes much more sense.

Veterans Azeria Posted March 27, 2015 Veterans Share Posted March 27, 2015 (edited) Replaced Kanga with Rhyperior and added some background things soooo Beware the Soulcarriers~ I might just base Hitmonlee's personality off a certain character from a Certain Anime...Or just replace Volcarona with Magmortar if you won't be using it Zerron. Trust me, he's going to run Delphox in place of Magmortar. There's already enough animosity in the phantom of the relationship with his sibling (Who is honesly the virtual equivalent of Voldemort in his mind) without trying to artificially inject some superficial, trivial bullshit into it about how a certain fire type hates a certain electric type and wants to kill it every opportunity it gets... since some others on his team will have similar reactions anyway. Veterans Azeria Posted March 27, 2015 Veterans Share Posted March 27, 2015 (edited) oooh yeah, that Magmortar&Electivire line rivalry mmm I get it. In that case,I might hold off Gengar for year 2 and have Hitmonlee or Magmar hold that spot(Sorry Solaris, but i like Magmortar more :c) Edit 2:I'll have Bannete instead of Magmortar actually for a few reasons. Bannete's actually incredibly versatile, having moves such as Destiny Bond,Curse Phantom Force(A Move i wish Dusknoir had but alas)And a few movre Support Moves along with good mixed offensive stats. Along with this,it works well with Shade because they're seen as counterparts in some ways so that works aswell. The mega spot will stay with Gengar for now untill i find a reason to have this guy be the mega. Edited March 27, 2015 by Scublord McFoxy
Chim
Evan's team is set. I just have to wait and see how the story goes from now on to see if Skarmory stays or will be replaced by a Yanmega. I do have some back-ups to fill slots 7 to 10 but I haven't decided yet. - A Pokémon that doesn't listen and can go out of control Mamoswine and T-tar come to mind - A ground type. If prefer one that isn't covered by Lana but right now the one I want to pick is the one she already has could be Mamo. Other options are Seismitoad or Torterra - Grass type. This is the hardest one to pick tbh since they can serve different roles. I can annoy people by using Powder moves or something or general support with something that can learn Grassy Terrain. Torterra (can also fill ground slot), Tangrowth, Cradily come to mind. Or something that can annoy everything by stalling and spamming Powder moves xD - Something to cover weaknesses. I was thinking a dark type to deal with the double ghost weakness. Or a Steel type maybe to counter those flying bastards that can take out Medicham and Yanmega. This slot would be filled be something that looks up to Evan's main offensive duo (Gengar and Medicham). Edit: Ampharos is another option. Sissy isn't around anymore so no one else has one... Yes, but they are incredibly hard to find. When the story goes on I can always find a way to obtain them since they are rare in the wild. Tacos
Alright. And, is there like a time limit on how long it takes to catch a pokemon. I was planning on a whole sort of back and forth between Ryan and one of his future team members that would eventually definite their relationship once Ryan catches it.
Chim
No, I'm actually planning the same thing. Next chapter (or maybe at the end of this one) Evan is going to meet one (the Meditite) and befriend it, but it will join him after the Gastly. So there's going to be some time in between. Edit: If it's a Pokémon that can live in the Academy Forest you can take as long as you need. If they're on a trip far from the Academy it doesn't make sense that the Pokémon in question followed Ryan all the way to the Academy.
Veterans Azeria Posted March 27, 2015 Veterans Share Posted March 27, 2015 I think i'll have rhyhorn be an egg that Uncle Thomas keeps for James till the second year while Hitmonlee and Golduck become part of the main team...seems to work better than having all of the mons be ones that evolve in they're late 30's/40's lol. Commander
@Chim: I can see why Pseudos wouldn't be to big of a deal especially with Megas being even stronger then those. Anyways, here's my real question: where in the bloody hell would you even find a Rotom? It lives in a forest, but is always found near technology, but we have a forest without technology I presume. The only idea I have is that one occasionally goes around screwing around with the school's machinery.
Veterans Azeria Posted March 27, 2015 Veterans Share Posted March 27, 2015 hmm...Perhaps a certain Rotom snuck into the school(Not too hard considering its a ghost type)And decided to inhabit a few of the computers and machinery to create havoc or something lol..I wouldnt be surprised if one made a few pokedexs malfunction or break. And as far as the Pseudo's goes: True, but I'm limiting Megas as well. But it wouldn't really make sense for everyone to have a T-tar or a Hydreigon considering the system I introduced. There's a limit on strong Pokémon because trainers need to grow first and I don't want to have a PC with nothing but OP Pokémon around.
Tacos
I mean, the pseudo was going to be a second year for Ryan, and even then, it was most definitely not going to be a key member of his team. So, would we be able to catch pokemon in the forest after the tournament? I'm actually really excited to write about this encounter.
