Chim
Yes, I only limited the team members before the tournament and at the end of the first year. I never said anything about not being able to catch one right now or in the next chapter.
Sutoratosu
So just out of curiosity, where would one find a Prinplup/ Empoleon? If I decide to have him obtain Brienne a bit later on and levels allow it, I'd prefer for her to already be fully evolved because of the pride thing and whatnot demanding she return the favor. though I can still make finding her as a Prinplup work as well EDIT: most of the join ups for Mareek's team is going to be like Fire Emblem in a way- gathering companions as he goes along as they either decide to join up or become indebted/ convinced to follow by other team members (Most probably Java who will do the talking)
Commander
I might actually pick up Rotom after Raiza's battle because of the sheer number of references that could be made (probably won't really grow any levels when ch 4 hits anyways). I know Henry would have five Pokemon, but it'd still be like he only has 3 at the end of the chapter.

That's where the ice types are and Piplup has a fur to protect against the cold so I assume the Empoleon line lives in cold climates. I should probably map the place. Tacos
Ok, so I think I'm gonna have Ryan take a walk around the woods area after his battle (regardless of whether he wins or loses) so I can introduce the pokemon. It will be a while until he catches it, though. He'll probably have caught the 5th member of his team before he considers catching this one. That's where the ice types are and Piplup has a fur to protect against the cold so I assume the Empoleon line lives in cold climates. I should probably map the place. I might initiate something for it a bit later in the chapter, though it might be a bit hard to come up with a beleivable motivation to just wander into the forest. Depending on time constraints I might just save the entire thing for off screen in between chapter 3 and 4, though I also kinda want her to be encountered while Erce herself is still unevolved because of the ongoing symbolisms I have going on for steel types and the relation to body guards and personal defense (which Is why I want a third steel type, still debating between either Steelix or Aggron, since Erce has a mix of Speed, Physical and Special defense, Brienne is a bit slower but has good Special Defense, and so the third needs to be slowest yet have high physical defense to complete the triangle)... hmmm... I might just have to have Nemo be the initiating factor later on after he evolves and begins to develop the habit of occasionally...slipping away on his lonesome, have Mareek and Erce and Java go looking for him, and... Commander
Zerron, I honestly feel Bastiodon is the Pokemon you're more looking for. It may not have Steelix's defense, but don't underestimate it. It is a very, very useful Pokemon to have in doubles and work well with your planned moveset with Erce.
Veterans Azeria Posted March 27, 2015 Veterans Share Posted March 27, 2015 (edited) For now,the team is done sooooo time for some personality creation...I've got a Wise Guy Golduck and the characters of a Spiritomb and Banette to create(Though the latter'll probably be a part of the Prankster thing) Name:Shade The eldest partner and the wisest before Rubix came around,as a Duskull he was rather mischieveous but upon his evolution to Dusknoir that attitude quirk was quickly replaced by responsibility. If anyone acts out of order, this guy will take action and put them back in their place...this'll be especially usefull with Spiritomb and Gengar. He also is James's best friend in a way and anyone trying to endanger him will be...disposed off so to say. Name:Tytanniel A silent pokemon but far deadlier than anyone on the team besides Luna. He takes a back seat to most of the heated discussion but is by far the strongest defensively on the team. Try and break through his iron armour it won't work. Name:Liona The fiercest and Strongest(Stronger than Shade infact) on the team and the 1 lady you don't wanna mess with. A fierce dragoness that uses her speed and physical superiority to it's fullest but has a lot of trouble holding back her temper which comes out when speaking to guy numero 6. She is rather haughty though so anyone being rude about her appearance or being rude to her at all will feel a world of pain(Literally) She is also James aerial mount. Name:Luna The deadliest on the team, she ussually stays back closer to Tytanniel mainly due to her shyness. Don't take it for weakness though, she can easily wipe the floor with you if you come in unprepared and isnt averse to burning both your body and soul up. Name:Ryo Calm and fast this Humanoid loves nothing more than having a good brawl. His kicks are lightning fast and iron hard, they're bound to do a lot of damage. This does not mean he's not smart though,he just prefers to use his brawn over complicated tactics. He's not against it however and from time to time uses it to an incredible extent. Ryo's good friends with Liona due to both loving a good fight Name:Bugby A bitter ghost left behind by his previous trainer, and to survive he became a native thief around the area stealling from both fellow Pokemon and Trainer alike. He made the mistake of stealing from James one day and got chased around for a while before being captured. He's a bitter one and refuses to obey commands at times but one day he made the mistake of messing with Shade after he evolved and the rest is..history. Name:Elridge An ancient Ghost,he was abandoned as a mere doll 50 years ago and turned into a Shuppet to find his owner to exact revenge. Elridge is an enormous prankster and is good friends with Bugby and Rubix and along with them is the main cause of internal chaos and mischief amongst James's team. Elridge has no problems with using moves such as Curse and Destiny bond and considers winning his main priority no matter how he does it. Name:Rubix Being rather elderly,Rubix likes to use his wisdom in questionable ways. These include making wise cracks at other members of his team and using his psychic powers to plant subliminal messages in the minds of others to manipulate them this usuall rewards him with a kick to the face courtesy of Ryo though. This usually is done as a joke though and he wouldnt use them to actually endanger his friends, keyword being Friends. His main weapon are his psychic powers and water type moves but he isnt against getting physical if needed. Name:Legion WE ARE 108! In all seriousness.Legion is the member of the team that James keeps on a tight leash and by tight i mean TIGHT,if given the chance this gal will escape and cause havoc,it doesnt matter to who or what,She will make her enemies lifes a living hell and thus,Shade and Ryo watch out for her and make sure she doesnt kill someone. Eventually she comes to trust James but the other members of the team? No chance, the only one she can even remotely work with is Tytanniel but that's because of his usual aloofness. Name:Gaius A pokemon recently obtained by James from an egg by a certain person.Don't think that means he's weak though,Physically he's stronger than the rest of the squad no questions asked. His defenses are no slouch either but he's rather calm and take up the role of the older brother to some once he evolves into Rhydon. Get anywhere near his horn and he will use it to pierce you into the heavens! (Since i'm off for the next few weeks,i might just help you with mapping out the area, if you need help Chim) Edited March 27, 2015 by Scublord McFoxy
Chim
Forest. (Lol, made it really fast in paint) - Thick grey line: Forest border. The green part on the right is the Southern Forest (biggest Forest in Ymora) - The brown part on top belongs to the Boulder Hills - Blue part is the Lake. I probably made it a little too big since the biggest part is actually in the Hills. The arrow indicates the Lapras and the rest of the lake. - Blue lines are human altered streams - The orange / gold part is the sand area with lot of ground and fire types. The water that streams through it is really hot and it's surrounded by rocks. (Especially the entire north-eastern corner) - The light blue part is where the Ice types are. It's a cave that's part of the Boulder Hills but completely frozen. It was originally human altered but the Ice types manage to keep it cold enough these days. Around it are a lot of rocks as well and some frozen parts made by Ice types that left the cave. The forest is going to be an important location for the next chapter and can be quite dangerous. (This also helps Galen as he should have a map of this) * Like I already said; the blue arrow is where Lapras is. She never leaves the lake but can be outside or inside the cave. * The Diamond represents Steelix. That area is where he usually is but he can literally be anywhere. It's also possible for him to leave the Academy Grounds. * The Heart is Sawsbuck. That's the general location of his herd. They tend to move around during the day, but never too far. The OP Sawsbuck can also show up anywhere within the Forest and even outside. He's only active during the day unless something happens. * The Star is Rookie aka the shiny Trevenant. He usually hangs out in the western part (but not too far because due to the temperature dropping) and is mainly active at night. He also moves around to wherever he sees fit and can leave the grounds as well.

Chim
So I didn't expect people to go run to Devin already. I kinda have an idea to deal with that and to achieve 2 (and a third personal) goal at the same time. The idea involves letting Evan trade away the Ninetales after the tournament. (I will weaken his next Pokémon) so I can give him a rain team without using Swift Swim / Rain Dish Pokémon. That would also cause confusion and get another student involved... The only problem is I already said I don't allow PCs to switch teammembers that already made an appearance... xD
Veterans Azeria Posted March 27, 2015 Veterans Share Posted March 27, 2015 You could just have Ninetales be sent to his Sister for year 2 or something, you'd technically still be working by your own rules and you have space for that team member lol
Chim
You could just have Ninetales be sent to his Sister for year 2 or something, you'd technically still be working by your own rules and you have space for that team member lol The Ninetales would be a gift. I was just being indecisive and placed Evan's team on the background. Now I'm trying to work with that. His team would change like this: Ninetales out, Yanma in. People could assume it's his 5th unknown Pokémon instead of the Zubat. In the long run I would add Torterra and Politoed. Skarmory (if it stays and no one else obtains it depending how the story goes) fits in as well. Team: - Vaporeon - Clefable - Yanmega - Medicham (Mega) - Gengar - Torterra - Politoed - Skarmory (depends on your choices) / another steel type This would leave 2-3 spots open for me to play around with. - Probably a third water type: Swanna (Hurricane OP) or something like Octillery or Swampert. Lanturn could be a great asset but I think someone else already wants it. - Ampharos or another Electric Type - Another Flying type to deal with grass / bug or something else completely. Or a second Steel type. Or I just don't complicate things and keep Ninetales as the 10th to add some randomness to the team.
Commander
Although it'd be ironic, if Ninetales is such a problem I can just take it off of Chim, but truthfully, it's not going to be as bad as you think having a fire type for a rain team. I mean I used an Azumarill in drought weather and the thing can still wreck a few mons under those conditions.

It is a very, very useful Pokemon to have in doubles and work well with your planned moveset with Erce. Yeah, not really feeling it for bastidon... I'd be more open to the consideration if it weren't for the mediocre ability to strike back after taking blows... not really seeing the potential here overall. Eh, screw it, I'm going with Aggron... I'll call him Barristan. I can do more with him than with Steelix Hmmm nah...damn... guess I must leave this up to a cast of the di EDIT: In a fight, who would win? Ser Barristan Selmy, or Sandor Cleagane? I know it's a rather obvious question to anyone who knows the lore and characters from asoiaf, but... EDIT 2: Eh... eh...well, Sandor's already dead more or less because... brienne XD so... I guess I must go with... Barristan, which means... Aggron. I can run him like a tank, like with Son Jeor... which he actually makes a better one than the ice type.
Veterans Azeria Posted March 27, 2015 Veterans Share Posted March 27, 2015 Oh yeah,I think i remember chim saying something about stat raises and drops but i don't remember. Chim
^it's 3 AM, my brain died, I don't know what you're talking about. Stats reset as soon as a Pokémon switches out. Commander
Oh Crawdaunt, he was actually going to be the sixth member of my original team design (that option was killed pretty quickly though). Definitely one of the more interesting ones considering Vicegrip was actually part of his final moveset.
Veterans Azeria Posted March 28, 2015 Veterans Share Posted March 28, 2015 (edited) It seems i'll be having Rhyhorn and Ryo(Hitmonlee) for the last 2 slots while Bugby will be a recurring character if sorts,Now I just wonder when to actually introduce Hitmonlee. Chim
I'm so tempted to make Veronica say something homophobic right now. And make Kage flip And I'm reworking Evan's team. I can come up with a few off the top of my head from what's worked in the anime and common sense (To work against Electricity)... Unfortunately the battle part isn't really my strong point. I've seen some of you pull things and I'm like 'wtf, I would never think about something like that'. The team I had was: Vaporeon, Clefable, Yanmega, Skarmory, Gengar, Medicham, Politoed, Crawdaunt, Torterra and I added Goodra as 10th to get a Rain Dancer that resists Electric.
