Oh goodness gracious! Hatty, what did those cats do to you???

(had to, due to that Avatar -> currently playing Battle Block Theatre among other stuff...)

Well... I found Reborn over twitch.tv ... I was looking for some Pokemon X/Y Wi-Fi-Battles to watch, and there was one guy playing reborn with maybe 5 viewers or so - his Title: Pokemon Fangame - Pokemon Reborn

I was curious, because I never heard of it before so I clicked and watched, he was in the beginning when you have to battle thorugh the factory with Fern. Then he got to Julia and got obliterated (his starter was Squirtle)

My thoughts while watching - "damn this game seems tough! way harder than a normal Pokemon game... normal Pokemon games were always a bit easy I always wanted a bit more challenge. Let's goggle it!"

Then I proceeded to download the current Episode (11 at that time) and damn was I right with it being tough.

I always came here for the Pokemon location guide to see which pokemon I could get and where to get at least some advantage against the current leader... then came Noel...

after ~15 attemps against his team of devils... he forced me to sign-up here and ask for advice... and now that I was here I thought "why not stick around? there is much more to this game as it seems..." - and again I was right.

So here I am.

Where to begin....ok i found Reborn while searching for fan base Pokemon games (after finishing all the "original" ones several times). After reading that this is a (sort of) Post Apocalyptic game (my favorite genre) and that it is (much) more difficult than the "original" which is huge plus for me (the "original" are cakewalks) i decided to download the game and play...suffice to say it literally blew my mind, never before (and never after i'm sure) i played a Pokemon game this good, dark, grim and "real", this is really what i wanted: a more "mature" and "serious" Pokemon game (not the sunshine&flowers main games oriented at kids 6 years old). As for the community i joined simply because i browsed the forums and saw that it's very helpful and nice so yea here i am.

I'll bite.

I found the game through multiple sources.

  • My friend, who found it through shofu's youtube channel
  • Nickaboo92 on my own youtube purusings
  • Ame's own youtube channel.

...I guess the reason I included all three of those sources was because I didn't start to play the game until I noticed that 1. through shofu's playthrough that the game was noticeably unique in it's "hard knock life" approach in comparison to the main series....2. through Nickaboo in that it wasn't just a one way street and that if you play the game like a completionist would, you'll be distinctly rewarded...and 3. Through Ame, in that the developer particularly enjoyed and cherished her game enough to show people it's creation process.

I stuck around because whenever I play a Pokemon game, I normally don't have to think and trudge in the realm of strategy and process. It was stated once on these forums somewhere that the game is only as hard as the player made it, and when I ran into a brick wall, I would -yes- rage for a bit, but then have to drop back and punt. Once I thought it over, I would realize that my ticket past whatever the next obstacle WAS there, and I didn't pick it up.

This sometimes conflicts with my iron-strong belief that you should be able to conquer any game in any fashion you choose, but if you had that much choice, is the game really difficult, and better yet, does it push you to your limit? Sometimes a lack of options makes tasks feel MORE rewarding. That's what caused me to stick around. I felt rewarded.

I'll make this shortish

-> I leave the Chaos Theatre (another forum group founded by a bunch of my favorite youtubers) because I got kinda bored and wanted to be apart of a pokemon community.

-> Find a random post on Redit via stumble upon about some place called pokemon Reborn, I learn there is a RPG maker game that takes place in Reborn, (much like Perlich's Journey and the Chaos Theatre) decide to check it out.

-> Meets some baller ass people like Godot, Mael, and Neo, Reborn is a very fun game, and a chill community in general decide to stay

Was originally with Shoddy server (v1) and a part of G$/$G (I forget). Server began to deteriorate after v2, and came to Swimming95 to see if he could help. I knew him because I had spent a lot of time in Reborn during v1. Of course the server did eventually die so I made my home in Reborn. Although no one remembers me because I went by Icy or Icy Morning Star. QwQ

But yeah there ya go. :3

I found out about this game through Youtube as well, but through a smaller channel, GreenWaveGamer. I did check out shofu's stuff afterwards, but got the hell outta there soon enough (he's like a second DSP and there's his reaction to Corey).

I made an account and first (2) post(s) here when Firefox refused to cooperate and go through adf.ly links to let me download the game.

I tried the game and loved how tough it was. It gave me the same excitement, the same kick I got from beating Watson's level 100 team (which you're supposed to lose against) with my level 30s in Snakewood.

uh. I had just discovered the magical and sometimes disappointing world of pokemon hacks, and I was desperate to find a new one that I could actually bear to play. In my search I found a video of "top 10 pokemon hacks" and even though Reborn is not a hack, the creator of the video loved it so much that they added it to the video anyway. The way it was described sounded pretty rad, and I saw a couple screenshots that blew my mind immediately, and here I am!

I wasnt sure what to expect as far as story content, and Corey's situation really caught me off guard at first. I remember I had to stop playing for awhile...but the game is too good for me to ignore for very long. #TeamReborn5evr

Hoestly....I was looking for a Pokemon-themed online game with significant social aspects, and after a bit of searching, downloaded Pokemon Online out of curiosity. When I got in, I saw the main server which had WAY too many people, some non-english servers, some with only a couple, and Pokemon Reborn...and I went there. I went to a lot of others here and there over time as well, but mainly Reborn.

I suppose I joined for the pokemon stuff but stayed for the people and for the wonderful social design, with great conversatons and fun times.

Keep in mind though, this was long before the game started, and i'm actually surprised by how many people were brought here by it somehow.

So heh, kinda funny story.

My original trip to reborn over two years was to, quite honestly, cause a little bit of mischief with some people I knew from PBC, another server, out of boredom. I didn't end up doing anything, I just kinda pointed and laughed at Phoenix's visible frustration. Everyone I was with got banned, but I stayed a little longer. This continued a couple of times before my then-clanmate Trevo convinced me to stay and give the Reborn League a whirl. I didn't have the time to dedicate to complete it in full, but I definitely spent a lot of time between the two servers (being a mod in PBC but I never told people here because PBC people were generally frowned upon).

Eventually PBC died, revived, several times before sometime last year it died for reals, so I stayed here.

I found reborn through the game. I found the game because I watched 5 minutes of part 1 of Shofu's adventure before deciding that this game was not for me because Heracross wasn't on the obtainable list at the time. I came back to it a few months later when looking for a pokemon game that I hadn't played 5 times before, and loved it.

I first made an account to report that spiky shield was acting like king's shield instead, and I remember debating whether it was worth letting the developers know. In hindsight I'm really glad I did. After that, I used the resources on the forums from time to time, but I noticed that a lot of the questions being asked were questions I knew the answer to, so I re-purposed my account, made an intro thread, and began to assist in answering the questions that are asked. Now I guess you're stuck with me.

I originally went to Treehouse for a while, it was nice and all, not many people though, but the people were nice. (I still visit from time to time). Then i saw some channel called pokemon reborn. I was like "geez this looks spiffy" so i joined it and then the next week i joined this community right here. It's bloomed just like a flower, because it was pretty damn small when i joined.

I came here after playing the god awful pokemon snakewood. I was just about to blow my brains out after that abomination of a game melted my mind and I wanted to cleanse my mind of that game by playing a good one. I came across this site and tried the game and now im satisfied.
