Pokémon Academy: Ch 2a: Dragons [IC]

"Sound like you two will get along perfectly." Henry watched Burrows lift the Togepi which he picked and handed it to Danielle. The Togepi didn't really mind the girl and enjoyed her nice smile. Suddenly her eyes locked onto a Murkrow. She remember how the black bird had always taken her toys away and made fun of her. She began to tear up and whine.

Are you kidding me? This is not going to end well. Henry tried to pretend he didn't notice, but he really couldn't ignore it. "I have no idea why it started crying. It seemed pretty comfortable earlier."

[DarkLight]

"I... guess I'm not fit for the job like you thought..." Danielle managed to stammer out while she held the small Pokemon. Inwardly, she knew the Togepi was afraid of Avis for some unknown reason, but decided to hold her tongue. It was pretty funny to see Henry's little plan go kaput. 'So crying is his weak spot...' She was also a little relieved that the Fairy-type didn't seem too fond of her; it is a fairy type, after all. Danielle decided to hand the Togepi over to the next person in line, Robert. "Well, since Togepi doesn't seem to like me, do you want to give it a try?"

Avis only gave a disapproving look at the baby Pokemon in Danielle's arms. What did she do to make the Fairy cry?! She only sat on Danielle's shoulder; the Murkrow didn't even make a sound when all of this happened! In all honestly, Avis was glad something about her had frightened off the crybaby. She can't deal with a partner running scared and crying every time it sees her.

[TurboAura]

From the aerial view Jetstream was taking of the group, he heard the Togepi's crying and flew towards Robert. During which, Robert had just recieved the Togepi from Danielle, reluctantly accepting it. "I-It's okay little one, please calm down." Kiai was trying to figure out a way to calm the Togepi down from the ground, doing it's best not to cover it's ears. After a while of attempted comforting, the Togepi finally settled from crying to sniffling. While not great, it was still a step in the right direction. Just then, Jetstream flew down, gently even, and hovered by Robert's shoulder, looking at the Togepi in confusion over why it was crying.

The Togepi looked up at the Noibat and began to cower in fear. She really didn't like bats especially after getting lost in a dark cave once. She was about to cower her face in Robert's goo covered shirt when Henry quickly pulled her away. Like magic, she became excited and gleeful again. This Togepi is weird. Why follow me of all people? This would be so easy if I learned how to handle people crying. I know I'm going to regret this. Henry pulled a Poke Ball and held it next to the Togepi. The curios 'mon poked it and was beamed inside. It shook on the ground three times before making a click.

Henry then picked up the Poke ball and looked at Danielle and Robert. "If anybody asks, this catch happened by a complete accident, okay? I already know a long list of people who are going to give me a hard time about this."

[DarkLight]

Danielle rolled her eyes, pretending to be exasperated. "Henry, it's obvious that the Togepi saw something in you that it liked. It's not a bad thing. They aren't known as the happiness Pokemon for nothing... If it makes you feel any better, I still don't understand why Avis stayed with me all of this time; she just seems happy with me. If anybody gives you a hard time, it just means they don't really understand you; so, who cares about them, right?" She gave a encouraging smile towards this misunderstood boy. "You know what I said previously, and the Togepi accepting you only proves my point. It seems weird to you now, but I'm sure it'll be clear later down the road."

[TurboAura]

Having seen how Togepi reacted so happily when taken back by Henry, Robert's mind raced as to what exactly made the Togepi cry out like that. Skipping over that for now, he focused on Henry's statement. "Uh, sure no problem. Seems like Togepi wouldn't have had it any other way." After which, Danielle's statement caught his own attention." Yeah, you did the right thing catching Togepi, as you couldn't have asked for a more willing partner." Jetstream, however, was even more confused as to what had caused the second outburst. What was up with that thing? It was a Togepi, a Fairy type, yet from what Jet could reason, it started crying when it saw him, a dragon type. He decided to let the topic go, atleast since it was already in a pokeball.

Group 1 (Bfroger, Murdoc, Zephyr, EXLink)

Before anyone else could answer the question, Alastair started to gather everyone up. Shiro’s battle came to a conclusion and the group left to head back to camp. While they were walking Tyron, who was walking last, noticed a small Druddigon following them. He walked over to Shiro and whispered to the boy he apparently impressed the dragon enough for him to catch it.

A few minutes later they saw the rest of the students. There was one big group in particular gathered around Ryan and a brunette. The teachers were chatting just outside their cottage while Devin was making a phone call.

Lucky Elf, Tacos, Jory, Ryan, Turbo, Commander and DarkLight

Sofia felt really embarrassed when a large group gathered around her. And when Ryan came over she just wanted to sink into the ground. Before she could say anything, Kristen, who was distracted by Jacob’s smile, took the word.

“No, I won’t let you harm her again. You would probably flirt around with her a little bit like you did before, tell her it’s not her fault but yours, which it is, and give her little compliments.” She stood between Sofia and Ryan and poked the boy in his chest. “I know your type. You feel bad after leading her on and taking her on a Flygon ride and just want to clean your own guilt! Or maybe you’re afraid your boyfriend will find out you were flirting with someone else!” She yelled loud enough so the people around them could hear it.

Sofia widened her eyes after hearing what her friend said and quickly interfered. She didn’t want anyone attacking Ryan like that. “It’s alright, Kristen, I’ll listen to him.” She still avoided making eye contact with the boy in front of her.

Kristen sighed. “As you wish,” She grabbed Claude and Jacob by their arms and dragged them away. “Sunshine, Cutie, let’s leave them alone.” She turned her head and watched Danielle in the eye, grinning. Jacob was hers now.

((Jacob and Claude didn’t see the grin))

In the meantime the Pokémon that served as a trampoline was annoyed. Something not that heavy was jumping on his belly alongside two feather weights. Fortunately the jumping stopped soon enough and he could go back to sleep, for now.

The second Togepi was still jumping when it suddenly noticed its friend disappeared. And it didn’t see the other one either. Curious as to where they were, probably having fun without it, it started to search.

((Togepi is coming soon to the camp. No one can find it yet as it will go to Jacob eventually.))

[Tacos]

Ryan felt awful when he saw Sofia cringe at his arrival. I just want to help you, please. I don't want either of us to be stuck feeling this way. But his attention was turned to Kristen when her verbal assault began.

“No, I won’t let you harm her again. You would probably flirt around with her a little bit like you did before, tell her it’s not her fault but yours, which it is, and give her little compliments.”

Ryan's face turned a pale scarlet as the words poured out of the redhead's mouth. After every few words, a stuttered, high pitched, "I.." came from the boy's mouth. He stumbled backwards a little bit when Kristen poked his chest, feeling a little weaker than he usually would.

“I know your type. You feel bad after leading her on and taking her on a Flygon ride and just want to clean your own guilt! Or maybe you’re afraid your boyfriend will find out you were flirting with someone else!”

Ryan's face morphed from scarlet to pure white. He was mortified at what the girl screamed. No, no no, no no no, no. I didn't want people finding out like this... What will they think? Am I going to be shunned?

“It’s alright, Kristen, I’ll listen to him.”

Ryan turned towards Sofia. He hung his head and muttered towards the ground. "No. If that's really how you feel, then I might as well just not be here. Sorry for ruining your day, and I'm sorry for doing what I did, I never meant to hurt you." Ryan spun around on his heels and dashed through the crowd, weaving his way between people. At this point, tears were streaming down his face and he couldn't exactly tell where he was running. He looked back at the group, but couldn't see them all too well. He turned back around and kept running, hoping no one would follow him. I can't do anything right, can I. Ryan, you're a pathetic asshole who can only accomplish hurting everyone around him and being the bane of everyone's existence. At this point, Ryan was well outside the camp, running towards the mountains.

[Commander]

"Guess there's really no point in trying to hide it," responded Henry. "The truth is that..." He cut himself off when he saw Kristen look right at Danielle with Claude and Jacob in her arms. "Danielle, are you sure you're alright? I'd imagine you and Jacob are pretty close so this probably isn't a pleasant sight."

Henry then saw Ryan run away from the site. That pain. I know that pain all too well. "I knew exactly how he was feeling yet I still abandoned him. She was right. I am nothing but a coward." Henry realized he said that out loud. "Zuko, see if you can find his scent." The fox began sniffing at the ground, but all he really did was sneeze. "...He doesn't know which scent is Ryan's. Anyone got any better ideas?"

[Zephyrus the Priestess]

There was a big group gathered outside. Right. That was Raiza's cue to disappear-- she never liked getting involved in such commotions. I thought Ryan wasn't attracted to girls, so what's up with him talking to two at once, no less? Not too long after, the boy tore away from the group, bolting in a direction. And to top it all off, Professor Cadmus was preoccupied with a phone call, the rest of the teachers oblivious to the whole thing. Your average school drama. Nevertheless it wasn't really her problem-- she nudged Kage, discreetly, unsure of whether or not the boy wanted his interest in Ryan to be publicly known. "Hey Lana, d'you think I'd have time for a quick shower, pon? It looks like we got here a little late and all, but... eh..." she muttered. For the moment, Toothless was inside his Pokeball, napping, tired from chasing other Pokemon and bumping into things all day.

That familiar soul-- or lack, thereof. Somewhere nearby was that strange kid. Soon enough, Lucifer found Henry and popped up, still thoroughly confounded by this human... only to be confuddled even more. What, now, just now it would seem that he was gaining one... or maybe he did have one this whole time? The Litwick floated around the human in question, as though unaware of the presence of the two other humans and the other Pokemon.

[Felicity]

As Kristen dragged Claude away, Claude saw Ryan run off. Concerned for his friend, he looked around for Doux, who was floating around nearby. After a nod from Claude, Doux took off after Ryan, trying to catch up by catching the air currents in the sky. He quickly caught up and floated down to Ryan, trying to keep pace.

Meanwhile, Colere, who had been left to rush after the trio, finally caught up, and immediately began to glare and growl at Kristen.

[Jory]

Jacob tried to protest as Kristen dragged him and Claude away from the group, but to no avail. However, as they were being led away, Jacob noticed Ryan quickly leaving the group. I need to go see what's up with Ryan. Wherever it is this girl is taking us, it's too far from my friend, Jacob thought, still confused about the whole situation. He only knew one thing for sure, though. He shook his arm out of Kristen's grip and stood still with his arms crossed, glaring at the redheaded girl.

"You know, I get that Sofia is your friend and you only want to protect her, but Ryan is my friend. And no one gets to say shit like that to my friends," he said angrily, his face beginning to turn red and his voice beginning to rise in volume. "You totally overreacted. Just because your friend likes another person doesn't make that person obligated to go out with her. And how was Ryan supposed to know she liked him, huh? He's attracted to everything on two legs! He flirts with everyone, even me! You owe him an apology, Cutie." He finally stopped ranting and took a deep breath, trying to calm himself down.

[DarkLight]

Avis crowed angrily and was about to peck Kristen's eyes out when a hand suddenly blocked her view. "Avis, stop. We have more concerning matters to deal with." she heard her master command. Avis then saw Ryan running towards the mountains and nodded, waiting for Danielle's instructions.

Danielle glanced at Kristen with Jacob in tow. She was about to give a thumbs up as her way of a blessing when she saw Ryan sprinting out towards the mountains.

"Danielle, are you sure you're alright? I'd imagine you and Jacob are pretty close so this probably isn't a pleasant sight."

She gave a weak smile as she turned to Henry. "Thank you for the concern Henry, but I'll be okay. I trust that Jacob has enough sense to see the truth later on. Until then, I'll watch from the sidelines... Plus, we have a bigger issue at hand here." After Henry's attempt to find Ryan, Danielle nodded towards Avis and pointed towards the mountains. "Go." Without another word, Avis flew off after the heartbroken boy. "Avis can find him easily. You two go ahead and follow her, I'll join up with you after I tell a professor. And Henry, I don't know why she would call you that, but that doesn't mean you can't change it." Danielle the sprinted off towards the group of professors without giving a chance for Robert or Henry to respond.

Danielle ran past the first group that has (finally) returned from their trip into the mountains and headed straight for the professors who are in conversation by their cottage. Without any polite greeting, she blurted out what just occurred. "Professors! A... A student, Ryan, he-he just ran towards the mountains. P-Please, help him! I-I sent my Murkrow to locate him so I need to go too..."

[Tacos]

Another tear slipped down Ryan's face as he looked up at the mountain he was about to conquer. He began climbing, planting his right foot into the ground, while using his crutches to propel him upwards. I've been training on these more than anybody thought. I knew there would be a time where I would be without Flygon. Ryan spent a good twenty minutes, climbing up the mountain. While he wasn't anywhere near the top, he had made decent distance from the ground level. On Ryan's right side, there was a precipice, a small cliff. The sight attracted to him, an emotion drawing him towards it. He hobbled over to it, getting a little too close to the edge. Ryan dropped his crutches and sat near the edge, his feet dangling over the edge, as thoughts rushed through his head. Maybe this is what I needed, to be out here alone, where no one can see me. Maybe it's better off that that was the last time anyone saw me. I could just... disappear, no one would ever care. I wouldn't be able to hurt anyone that way. Tears were streaming from Ryan's eyes at this point. I knew I wasn't a worthy friend to anyone. All I do is get involved and end up doing more harm than good. Maybe if I just... Ryan stared down the drop. It was large. Large enough to do something serious if he were to fall. But suddenly the wind whistled, and Ryan looked up. Doux, was sitting there. Go away you damn puffball, I just want to die alone. Ryan stared at Doux, worrying that its presence signaled that others were nearby. "Hi... Doux. What are you... doing here?"

[Felicity]

Doux was relieved that he had arrived in time. However when he saw Ryan standing perilously close to the edge, Doux immediately sprang, or floated, into action. Puffing up with all of his might, he Grew, his Growth making him bigger, and bigger, and bigger, until finally, he was the size of a medium boulder. He immediately pushed Ryan back from the edge, shoving him back with a powerful blast of Fairy wind. When he was sure Ryan wouldn't accidentally fall off, Doux returned to his normal size. He zipped around Ryans head, agitated at the danger he had been put in. He floated back a bit and focused. lightly using Fairy wind to make small hearts with the sparkles, almost asking what Kage would think.

[TurboAura]

Having watched Ryan run away from the situation, it was made pretty obvious that the situation had just hit a downward spiral. Watching Danielle send Avis off to follow Ryan, Robert looked towards Jetstream, just as confused as ever about what was going on. "Jet, I need you to go with Avis and follow Ryan. If anything goes wrong, fly to me, or one of the adults. If it's fine, just stay until Ryan comes back, okay?" Hearing his orders, Jet flew towards where Ryan was headed. After which, he listened to all Danielle said and started heading towards the other side of the problem.

Having finally caught up to where Ryan had ran, Jetstream kept an flying view of the situation, wanting to stick solely to had he was told. Any reasoning he had to land was covered when he saw the Cottonee that seemed to be comforting him. Jet couldn't really understand why the boy had ran away from the group, especially since the girl was already crying. 'First the girl, then that Togepi, and now this kid. What has gotten into them? Who's gonna be crying next?' Leaving the topic off so it didn't confuse itself, Jetstream put it's full focus on the area below, making sure that he could fly back the second danger struck if it did.

[Tacos]

Ryan was startled when Doux shoved him back. The powerful Fairy Wind knocked him back uncomfortably. His ankle twisted awkwardly against the ground, causing him to cringe in pain. He put on a false smile as Doux began sending comforting herts in Ryan's direction.

[Felicity]

Doux was not convinced by the weak smile Ryan gave. He chirped in response, bobbing about angrily, until he had a an idea. Once more, Doux puffed up, this time to his absolute maximum. When he could grow no more, he flew more, he sent up a bright whirlwind of Cerise sparks that chimed and twinkld as they flew into the sky, higher and higher., signalling anyone he could.

[Aurorix]

Slade saw Danielle run past his group and to the teachers in a panic. This can't be good. Slade thought to himself. He turned towards Kage, "Sorry to leave before you can answer my question but this seems urgent." He said before going towards the teachers.

"Professors! A... A student, Ryan, he-he just ran towards the mountains. P-Please, help him! I-I sent my Murkrow to locate him so I need to go too..."

Slade was shocked to hear of this and couldn't help but say, "Hold-a, hold-a, hold-a, Ryan, the same Ryan with the leg injury ran towards the mountains?" He joined the group with Flare right by his side. "Though, I don't see how more kids going after him with out a plan wouldn't be much help." He said trying to keep his composure, "We should have at least one teacher with us, just in case a wild dragon runs loose. Also, they know the area much better than we do so that's also a plus." Slade said hoping It'd calm down Danielle from her panic

[Zephyrus the Priestess]

What was everyone panicking about now? Frowning, she mentally slapped herself, and then piped up: "Actually, no. Sorry, but just what is going on, pon? If I'm not mistaken, that was Ryan, right? What happened? People are screaming at each other and whatnot and the professors seem to be distracted for the time being, too." Suddenly the girl had a feeling that something just wasn't right. As much as she wanted to just walk away and not be a part of anything, she couldn't help wondering what the fuss was all about, seeing her bunkmate frantic.

[Chevaleresse]

Kage heard the shouting and his face immediately flushed red, but not with embarrassment. He stomped toward the girl who had been yelling at Ryan, rage clearly evident on his face. As soon as he reached her, finding her by her voice and the sound of her footsteps, he forcefully grabbed her shoulders and turned her around. "You bitch! How dare you?" He released his harsh grip on her, clenched fists falling to his sides. "Do you have any idea what the hell you just did? Do you? You scream that out without a single thought, and for what? Because he f***ing tried to APOLOGIZE to you? You're disgusting, absolutely disgusting. Ryan can talk to whoever he damn well feels like, and it's none of your business!" The barrage continued, however Kage had faded into Japanese about halfway through his rant. After a minute or so of it, he finally stopped, with a look of concern on his face. "Where is he?" he asked quietly.

[Sutoratosu]

Mareek had started working with Java and his new team member as soon as his group had gotten back to the Encampment, having found a large enough area for Cubone to stand at one end and the Porygon at the other, like a duel almost. He'd been shouting his orders in Japanese, Java understood perfectly, but the other one had to have a few trials before he started to learn what Mareek meant, soon he had it done just as good as the Co-Strategist though. Mareek had been attempting to get them to work out a combo between the two, Something he had coded as "Ancient Lightning", or "Rajiin & Okami's wrath" as he liked a little better. They'd finally managed to get it right just a short while ago, and now the trainer wished to push it to see how far the attack could possibly be taken.

"Again!" he shouted in his native tongue. Java carried out his part, using Discharge on Cubone, whose Lightning Rod ability, coupled with his ground typing, made it harmless... to him at least. Then as soon as the attack closed in and hit him, the cubone raised his club into the air, his whole body glowing a silvery white as a sphere of the same color grew in front of him as he used Ancient Power. The electricity Java was still firing at him mixed with the power it was drawing up, changing both the glow of it's body and the sphere, from a silvery white, to a bright, golden hue that glowed beautifully in the air.

"Kodai Kominari!" that was the cue to fire. Cubone did as needed, releasing the sphere and sending it flying into the sky, where it burst into a mock aurora of golden, silvery light after many meters and then faded shortly afterwards. The boy looked down proudly at the two, nodding to signify that their training for the combo was done. "Great work you two," he said, swapping back to english. "I think we're about done for now."

Erce, who had been watching beside him the whole time, nudged his shoulder suddenly as she gazed at one student on crutches hobbling off into the forest, heading towards the mountains.

"What-" he didn't have to finish. he could see what she was trying to draw his attention to. There was a group of people not far away, seeming to have something to do with whatever was going on. "Of course... seems that someone always runs off," he sighed, not very surprised given Slade's stunt at the beginning of school. of course something was probably going to happen on this trip, given it had at the academy, and again at Prof.Cadmus' garden. "Might as well try to go see what's going on and help if we can..." Erce followed behind him as he headed over to the group, the scyther gesturing in an authoritative way to Cubone and Java to do the same. The two were tired, but they figured Erce probably knew best about what was wanted from the three of them from Mareek... well, Cubone did at least, Java just followed because he didn't feel like being left out.

"Eh, Slade," he called, automatically choosing to ask the one person he probably knew best out of the little assembly. "What's going on here? why'd that guy run off into the woods like that all of a sudden?"

[Aurorix]

Slade looked back at Mareek, "Honestly I don't know, but what I do know is it can't be good" He said now facing Danielle, "Thought Danielle might know since she was here when it happened, I'm assuming." He said hoping Danielle would shed some light on the situation a little so they know why he ran off into the forest.

Avis flew towards the shiny wind tornado and immediately spotted the culprit down below. Right nearby, she spotted a Noibat that belonged to Robert who seems to be keeping an eye on things just in case. Seeing that the bases are covered, Avis decided to fly down and plopped herself besides Ryan. She then nuzzled him for a pat, uttering a soft cry of concern.

"Slade! Raiza! And Mareek too? Thank goodness you're back!" Danielle cried as the three approached her. She then turned to address each of their questions, starting from the first one. "Yes, it's the same Ryan that is on crutches right now that ran off into the mountains." Her explanation was then interrupted by Jacob and Kage's raging speeches that were directed at Kristen. "You see, Kristen, that redhead that Jacob and Kage are shouting at, was insulting Ryan because Ryan turned down her brunette friend, Sofia. Ryan was only trying to apologize for rejecting her but Kristen had to blow it up and let everybody know that Ryan is in a relationship with a guy. And... I don't think he wanted that out in the open yet..." Danielle then turned to look at the mountains. "I sent Avis over there to keep an eye out for him so we could follow her and--- Wait, do you all see that?" she asked, pointing to the reddish-pink tornado up on the mountain. There was also a pleasant chiming that echoed all around them. Danielle searched the skies for any sign of her Murkrow, but nothing suggested she was around. "Avis must have flown down to investigate that cyclone, which means Ryan could be there... That's good." she muttered before addressing the trio once more. "There's a lot more to the story around Kristen, but it's not important now. The thing is, I want to see if we could get Ryan back down here before he hurts himself again! So, that's why I'm here with the Professors..."

[Chim]

((Everyone still around Kristen and Sofia))

Kristen actually found Jacob’s serious side attractive. She liked guys with a strong opinion and personality. Right before she could reply some random kid grabbed her by the shoulders and yelled in her face. She pushed him away, unimpressed by the situation. “You must be the boyfriend,” she remarked. “First of all; keep your hands off of me. This all here,” she pointed to her body, “is out of your league. Secondly; it’s his fault for flirting with other people while being in a relationship. If he didn’t want to truth to get out he shouldn’t flirt with my best friend and hurt her feelings just to stay in the damn closet!” she turned away from the group. “It’s not because he’s gay and a nice guy he’s allowed to get away with what he did.” She grabbed Sofia by the arm and left for the girls cottage. Sofia kept silent and just wanted to sink into the ground; the sadness clearly visible on her face.

((Everyone around Danielle and the teachers))

"Professors! A... A student, Ryan, he-he just ran towards the mountains. P-Please, help him! I-I sent my Murkrow to locate him so I need to go too..."

Tyron and Alastair immediately jumped up. Tyron went inside to get equipment in case he had to climb a mountain while Alastair went over to Devin. The Elite Four member was still making a phone call so he decided not to interrupt. When he got back he saw even more student gathered around Danielle while she was explaining everything. “You all stay here,” he said. “Professor Arlyn and my father are staying here in case something happens. Professor Silva and I are going after Ryan.”

As if on cue Tyron came running out the building with a bag in his hands. At the very same time a Flygon, the same that was carrying Ryan all the time, flew towards the sparkling typhoon in the distance. The dragon heard enough and because his trainer trusted the student in trouble to him, he was the one who would rescue Ryan.

Tacos

A Flygon dove straight towards Ryan at terrifying speed. He could easily recognize it as the one who that carried him around all day. Little did he know that Doux’s signal attracted some very dangerous Pokémon and that Flygon foresaw the potential trouble. In fact there was a very angry one shaking trees a little further down the road. A mighty roar, that even reached the camp, could be heard as the monstrosity closed in on Ryan. With no time to lose Flygon grabbed Ryan without any warning and flew back to camp.

A few minutes later it dropped Ryan off softly in the middle of camp. The gentle dragon stared Ryan in the eyes as to warn him not to run away anymore.
